PORTER'S BLESSING
Getting up this morning was probably one of the hardest things I've done in a few days. I was so tired! It was too early. But we were determined to go to Porter's blessing at 9:00. Brad was the only one who missed it because he had BYC. We went to their ward which is actually a branch. The kids couldn't believe how empty the chapel was. There were probably not even a hundred people in there and a lot of them were there for the blessing. So strange. But still nice. Nate and Luke even got asked to pass the sacrament! John did a great job on the blessing. Heidi had asked me to write it all down. Hopefully I did okay on that. We went to their house afterwards for some breakfast and visiting. I wish I'd been able to hold him, but we did need to get home for our ward. 7-15-18
NOAH AND THE PRIESTHOOD
Barbara asked Noah if he would share how the Priesthood has blessed his life in Primary for part of her sharing time. He and two others. He was last and can I just say- I had no idea what he was going to say because he had acted so nonchalant when I was trying to help him think of stuff- I was a little nervous for it. But he got up there and bore THE sweetest testimony of the Priesthood and shared an experience where he had been having some trouble with some of his friends and had a blessing and how much that had helped him. It was so sweet! He had completely broken down and was in tears by the end. Most of the room was in tears actually- it was SO SWEET!! I only wish satan hadn't tried to get him down by making him think he needed to be embarrassed afterwards. But what a sweet boy. It was really neat. I loved it! Proud mom moment. Humbled mom moment as well, since I'd had so little faith in the whole thing. 7-15-18
FHE
For family night Brad taught a lesson on strengthening our talents and developing new ones. We are all supposed to think of something new we want to work on or get better at and work extra hard on it. We'll review them in a month. For the treat Noah picked Dippin' Dots. He wants to get to the point that he can say, "The usual" and we all know what treat he wants to have. We played Simon Says as Luke's activity. Molly was adorable doing the push-ups- I think that was my favorite part :). 7-16-18
KELLY'S TEMPLE DAY
Kelly got to go on a day road trip with the Mia Maids to six of the temples in Utah County area. They would stop and teach each other about each one. Pretty cool. Seemed like she had a great time! 7-17-18
FARMER'S MARKET
Thursday, we spent most of the day getting things ready for the Farmer's Market! Nate and I did some last minute shopping. The kids all pitched in and helped with odds and ends. It was a real family effort. We were all happy to have successfully completed our first time. We did really well for the first time! Brad and Kelly were our sample offerers/cashiers, Noah and Erika were our little go-to-ers, I was in charge of getting a Food Handler's Permit (insert eye roll! I guess the one Nate got wasn't the one the Davis county people would accept, and he had put off getting the right one, so I was chosen to sit and watch the most ridiculous hour and a half video to get the right permit... I was actually more than happy to do so- we all know I love germ stuff- but MAN that thing was lame!) So I was a little late, but not too late to bring the canopy and shed a little shade on the subjects! Nobody told us we needed to provide our own tent. But all was well. We did really great! Brought in quite a bit of money and enjoyed our time together doing it! So now we feel a little more prepared for the next time- we know that we need about 10 times as many gloves :). And hopefully it will just keep getting easier as we go. It's fun that we all get to be a part of and help Nate with this crazy hobby of his. 7-18-18
SHERRY AND THE DILWORTHS
We were invited to meet up at Lodestone Park out in West Jordan on Friday morning. Bright and early 9:00, along with the Stricklands. Sherry was in town!! I have not seen Sherry for about six years! Maybe five... but the last time I remembered was when we got together at McD's and I was a couple days away from having Jack. But anyway- it was SO FUN to see her again! She is seriously the funniest person to be around. I laughed 80% of the time!! She's so funny! And such a great friend. I wish we had stayed in touch better. It was fun to see how grown up her kids are and fun to see how well our kids all got along. Kids are so great that way! I loved talking with Sherry and Abe and catching up with them. Good stuff. I hope they consider my vote and move back and to Davis County :). Funny thing that happened: Molly got a wood chip stuck up her nose. A tiny little piece that definitely could have gone up further and possibly caused damage, but possibly have done nothing. I wasn't too worried, but I still wanted to get it out. Amazingly, Wendy had some tweezers so she let me use them. By the time I got Molly to hold still and let me look, the wood chip was no longer visible. I panicked a little, and wanted to think of ways to make her sneeze or something, but then, I caught a sticky, little, green booger-coated wood chip on my arm. It had been stuck to Molly's shirt. It was definitely the piece that had been lodged in her nostril. Thankfully! And how funny is that! 7-19-18
TIOS
Since we were so close, we decided we needed to go see Grandma Ruthie! She so generously invited us to lunch at one of her favorite restaurants, Tios, and then treated us to lunch. It was a lot of fun. I think my favorite part that afternoon was Molly and how talkative she was with Grandma Ruthie. She is super shy around so many and takes so long to warm up, but she does have select few with whom she is more than willing to strike up a conversation. She was so excited to tell Grandma about the park and all that she had done. It was super cute. We didn't mind the compliments from several other restaurant patrons as they left, about how well-behaved our kids are :). That never gets old. We had a nice time with Grandma. We went back to her house for a little while and then headed home. 7-19-18
ANNIE AND THE VEENENDAALS AND COLES
This has been the month of visiting old friends for sure :)! I have absolutely loved it! Cute Annie and her family are in town and made time to have us over for the afternoon. We went had pizza at the Cole's and got to catch up with Gentry and met Angelica and Austin's new baby boy Daxtin. Then we walked over to a nearby Elementary and played there for a bit. It was SO HOT that day, but we had SO MUCH FUN!! I just can't get enough of Annie. She is too cool. I love that she lets me call her my friend and that she makes time for us. I hope their next year and a half goes quickly and that this whole Air Traffic Control thing is not a huge regret to them later. They're almost there!! And now I'll complain less about the overtime, because she's right- having Salt Lake Center understaffed is going to be a good thing for them! I only wish we could have seen Margo! I love and miss her too! 7-20-18

Camping with the Maughans- Journaling from the Kids
ERIKA:
Erika Maynes 7-15-18
On wednesday we went camping with the Maughan's. My favorite parts were when we did Tidie shirts. I did my shirt all dark colers this time. My other favorite things are the lake which was very cold and the marshmellow war.

07/ [I think he was going to write the date... you know it's a good summer when you have no idea what day it is :)]
this past week we got to go camping with the maughans. It was so much fun. some of my favorite activities were fishing, the lake, and the marshmallow war.
I went fishing almost every morning and night. I motly went with dad and we had so much fun doing it. I caught about 15 fish in total.
The lake was also a lot of fun too. I swam along the shore catching minnows along the rocks I caught 6 of those. Then we went in the canoe and caught 1 fish in that. I also collected a ton of lures and am keeping those. I had so much fun in general when I was at the lake. At the end of the campout we had a huge marshmallow war we first did boys vs. girls then did kids vs. adults then did teams of 2 and then everyoen vs. me. the boys won almost all of the wars. then the kids barely lost to the adults. I barely got out because I thought dad only had 1 life left but hd had 2. in the teams of 2 my team dominated twice. we were awesome then in everyone vs. me was intense. I ran all the way to the river and hid right there. I shot Josh then got Luke but he said since it hit his gun it didn't count so he kept shooting so I stuck my gun out so he would stp but it hit his head and he got mad then left. that's ok though then I hit kate then Noah then Rachel. It was awesome. I actually won!! Then we packed up and left. That was an awesome campout
NOAH:
My favorite part of our camping trip was the marshmallow war. We each had some Marshmallows and a marshmallow gun. Some of us had to take the guns apart because we did not have enough guns. For a couple rounds we did boy vs. girls the boy won alot, and the girls won twice. than we did a sardeen version wich was really fun and than kelly hurt her ankle and it made it a little hard to make even teams but it was alot of fun.
LUKE:

I amde three because we had extra all of mine turned out really cool. I also loved going to the lake. I, first, just was skipping rocks but it was windy so it didn't work as good. Then I made sand-castle with Molly, Jonah and mom. Then molly wrecked it. Then me, molly, Jack adn will made a trail that we would dump water down and it would go to the lake. we did that for like an hour. After we made boats (A.K.A. sticks we found with mud on them) and raced them down a river by the lake. And then I did nothing for a while and then played with a tube and I rolled it and it went clear acrost because of the wind. That night me, rachel, charity, and kelly played cards and we kept onlaughing so much. we played kent, monopoly deal, and millionair. It was fun. And last we had an epic marshmello war.

This last week was such a fun campout!! Every year our campout with the Maughan's just gets better and better. I loved so many things about this campout, one of which was just sitting around playing games. Me, Luke, Charity, and Mom, and Noah- he joined in a little later- played like wayyy too many rounds of kent :) It was so much fun!! we were laughing like the entire time. I also loved teaching them how to play the game bunny bunny. That wa ssuper fun and I'm sure all the campers around us loved hearing how loud our game got. That was also full of TONS of laughing :). I really just loved the times when all or most of our family was sitting around the campfire just talking and making jokes and laughing- especially about our little swear turd bird :) we definitely all strengthened our relationships as a family. So I actually had a lot of fun at the lake this year! Normally I'd be supre stressed and frustrated about the sand and everything but this time I just got in the water and had so much fun talking with Rachel and everyone else. I wasn't eve thinking about how I would get the mud off :) The good time I had wasn't even ruined when I slipped and fell in the river haha. Two things I was SUPER glad about this trip were that mom made my favorite grape salad! Which was absolutely amazing! I pretty much ate the entire thing on my own. And teh other thing was that dad let us buy dried mangos to take as a snack! They were sooo good!! Another thing I loved this year more than in the past was making woofums! Normally I really stink at it and either burn or undercook them but this year they (all 5) turned out pretty perfect! Made me happy. It was really funny when all the cows started coming into our camps and we had to go chase them out :) This was definitely a camp to remember and I really hope we keep doing this tradition.

Maughan's and Mayneses campout
This campout was so much fun! I loved every minute of it... mostly haha. I think the best thing that happened to me was the cute lil' chipmunk eating out of my hand twice :) Their little paws were so tiny and felt so weird! I also loved the tie dye shirts this year. Mine turned out pretty good! Kelly said it looks like a stoplight and I'd have to agree! My other favorite thing (:) ) was the cows! The boys had left to go fishing and while they were gone a bunch of cows went into the Maughan's campsites we had to chase them out. It was hilarious! I loved playing cards with Kelly, Luke and Rachel. That was tons of fun. Laughing with them and playing kent :) Those were my favorite things :)

Week of 7-8-18
SUNDAY
I did Primary almost on my own again, I had Terrie this time, which made a HUGE difference. We were a great team and remembered everything! Bro. Pedersen taught Sharing time which was nice. It was a good Sunday. I was wishing all day that we'd kept Nate home that day instead of last Sunday, but there's never a day that I don't wish we could keep Nate home :).
We even made it up to the family meeting which is always nice... well, minus how Molly was acting this time. She is in this new screaming and screeching phase that I have almost no control over. She just gets loud and then I have to react. It's really frustrating. I wasn't in the mood to be patient either. I get so frustrated that we have to go and be reverent again. It's just not my thing. But I do love seeing everyone. They are all so sweet to us and we have a good time. We had given Becky a ride and she had shared with me how she felt when we were in the temple together about the kids and what good kids they were. That was pretty special. She's so sweet. I'm glad we've been able to spend so much time with her lately. Such a great example to all of us. 7-8-18
THE CLEMENSES
The Clemenses so GENEROUSLY made time for us in their busy vacationing schedule and we all got together at Murray park (us, the Stricklands and some of the Harkers along with the Clemenses). It was SO MUCH FUN!! I really could hang out with them any day, all day. We had a lot of fun catching up on everyone and then talking like there has never been any distance or time between us. I love that about those people. We only lived in that ward with them for three years. It's hard to believe that friendship can last this long on so little. But they make me feel so good! They are so fun to be with and such fun people. We loved hearing about Kregg's time as Bishop. He would be such a fun Bishop. I was so intrigued by his sharing about how when someone comes in to confess/repent, for a moment, he is allowed to feel their pain, just as the Savior did. Not for long, but just for a moment and what a painful experience that can be. This reminded me of my Bishop growing up. Julie and I got a kick out of Charity and Ty's bonding experiences :). Them sitting on the bench together. So cute. I can't believe I didn't bring my camera though! I didn't even have my phone on me- mostly because I'm SICK of my phone right now! But anyway. The kids all played together and got along so well. It felt like we were with family. I just loved it. I was so glad that they made time for us. Such amazing people. 7-9-18
GETTING READY TO GO CAMPING
So Monday was our BIG cleaning day. I had gotten my new ecloths so I was going nuts all over the house, which felt awesome. I made everyone else get down and dirty (or clean I guess :) ) and clean up the whole house in preparation for our campout. It was a pretty productive day even though things were messy again the next day. Mostly just clutter of course. We did pretty good. Tuesday we did a lot of the packing and getting ready that way. That was a lot of work. But we are getting better at it and everyone pitches in and helps out. Nate and I did some last minute shopping. We were all set to just do that last minute stuff on Wednesday! 7-10-18
DATE WITH LUKE
So Luke and I got to go on our Mother's Day gift card date on Saturday. He got me Applebee's. We were a little tired from camping, but I think we had a great time and Luke was totally in a chatty mood, so that was great! He even said that he doesn't go there for the food- he goes there to talk! I loved that. We did get to talk a lot. About 7th grade, teachers, money, growing up. I loved hearing about how he saw his life in five years. He's such a good kid. I'm so proud of him and love being his mom! I loved spending that time with him. He packed up almost ALL of his mozzarella sticks, double crunch shrimp and fries, and we headed home :). Cute boy. 7-13-18
I STINK AT CHECKERS
I thought of an idea to keep the TV off and stall for a few minutes, Saturday evening, I told the kids that they had to keep playing checkers with me, alternating turns, until one of them beat me at it. I totally thought this could buy me a good half hour or so with them and that we'd all have some fun. Well, unfortunately, I stink at checkers!! Luke totally killed me. Then Brad did. Then Kelly did. They hadn't put it together that I didn't say they ALL had to beat me, which was nice, and so we did spend a while playing, but SERIOUSLY! I totally stunk it up. Kelly was the only one I was able to beat. Probably because she wasn't all in it with her hurt ankle. But we did have fun. Then I made them all watch Ever After :). Love that movie. 7-13-18

Week of 7-1-18
NATE ON SUNDAY
Brad and Luke were getting set apart on Sunday so Nate decided to take the day off. I loved that :). It was so nice to have him home!! It was a really neat experience watching the boys get set apart for their new callings as well. Brad is the new Deacons quorum President and Luke is the new Secretary. Good stuff. I loved hearing their blessings. We had a great time with Nate all afternoon and evening- everyone got a lot of Dad time in. 7-1-18
THIS IS THE PLACE
Erika got to go with the Activity Day girls up to This is the Place park for some fun pioneering activities. She loved the leather stamping, but somehow lost her piece of leather she made, which was a bummer. But she showed us all her gold that she had panned for and told us all the fun she'd had. It sounded like a really good time and they were gone for eight hours so I know they did more than I heard about :). She was EXHAUSTED when she got home- and even the next day. What a neat experience for her though! I'm glad she got to go do that! Such fun leaders. 7-2-18
FHE
For FHE Luke taught our lesson- I'm trying to remember what his lesson was on (it's been a week). But he told me he was going to "wing it" and did a fantastic job, as usual. I wish I was good at winging lessons. We played Base-frisbee- a game Nate made up when we realized we didn't want to play baseball with no mitts and stuff for everyone, and kick ball was out since our ball popped. It ended up being pretty fun! We went and got snow cones for Erika's treat. Lots of fun. 7-2-18
PIANO
My mom's been wanting to try a new young kid program for teaching piano so she started teaching Jack on Tuesday. He was feeling adventurous and consented :). He told me he was done, and I asked how it went, I loved his response, "It was long." HA!!! He was paying attention and doing so well, my mom just kept on going :). He does have an amazing attention span. I think he still liked it. He was funny when Grandma asked him if he'd like it to be shorter next time (probably offended a little by his previous response), he said an exasperated, "YES!" HA!! He's so hilarious. On the way home from the Splash park we traded cars with Nate and Charity and I stayed with Becky and helped her run a few errands. It's nice to get that one on one time with her- for Charity and me! I love Becky. I'm so grateful for her example and all that she teaches us. She gave Charity some cute books that she picked out just for her and Kelly. Pretty sweet. GRANDMA'S TEMPLE WITH BECKY AND THE TAYLORS
Grandma Ruthie invited us up to do some baptisms at her temple. We grabbed Becky on our way up and met up with Sierra and Enoch there. Grandma was so sweet to offer to watch the littles so that Nate and I could both go. Poor Charity had to work and Kelly's recommend had expired, so they both didn't get to come, but Brad and Luke, Nate and I had a blast!! That is a beautiful temple! My first time being in it. I loved the cool layout of the baptistry. I had a really cool experience there, but I'm not sure I should share it on here. Maybe in my journal. Bottom line- I decided to care less about my hair and do the baptisms and I am so glad I did! I loved being in the font with everyone and I loved the beautiful Spirit in the confirmation room. So neat! I'm so glad we have that little piece of heaven on earth. We went to Francescos after, Meg joined us, and had a nice time. I mostly talked with Meg about Keto and battled with Molly for some peace and no screaming. It was nice of Grandma to treat us all. We headed home with Sierra in tow and got ready for mine and Nate's date! 7-6-18
SOCIALAXE
Nate and I FINALLY got to go on a date! It seriously feels like it's been forever. I'm sure it hasn't, but it felt needed! He surprised me by taking us to a new place called Socialaxe. When we walked in I wasn't really sure what to think- there's wood targets on the wall and axes everywhere :). They taught us how to throw the axe and we competed against each other for an hour. It was actually a LOT of fun! I loved it! And I loved that it was something new and different. It helped that I won the first two events too :). Spelling out the word SocialAxe, and then Nate won the other two. I think my arms were tired. Pretty fun though! I would totally go there again. We walked over to Sushi and broke Keto ranks and had some Sushi. Nate got a headache, I had no lasting effects. But the Sushi was delicious!! We totally didn't go overboard and were careful what we got and it was still awesome. So that was cool. We also tried a cucumber salad which I thought was adorable. I took a picture. I never do that. After dinner we walked over to the movie theater and saw Jurassic World II. I loved it! Very cool effects! I loved the volcano! It's just a fun movie. I loved all the references to the first one. Rebooting the system and showing a model of the weird spitting dino in the first movie that gets the chubby guy. Anyway. Cool stuff. I think they left it open for another one too- which is good. Such a fun night with my sweet husband. I love him so much and I loved being with him on this thoughtful date. 7-6-18
DATE WITH BRAD
It was difficult to get out the door, but Brad and I finally got to go on our date. He gave me a gift card to Benihana for Mother's Day so that's where we went. It was pretty late in the evening because I needed to take Kelly to a birthday party, but we were both extra hungry so that was good :). The food there is amazing. Our chef wasn't quite as entertaining as we would have liked, possibly new or something, we weren't sure, but we had a great time. Brad was so fun to be with and talk to. I just love that kid. He was being so polite and such a gentleman the whole time. We ate tons of edamame and our delicious Teriyaki Chicken. So yummy!! I loved walking and talking on the way from and back to the car. Brad and Luke were getting set apart on Sunday so Nate decided to take the day off. I loved that :). It was so nice to have him home!! It was a really neat experience watching the boys get set apart for their new callings as well. Brad is the new Deacons quorum President and Luke is the new Secretary. Good stuff. I loved hearing their blessings. We had a great time with Nate all afternoon and evening- everyone got a lot of Dad time in. 7-1-18
THIS IS THE PLACE
Erika got to go with the Activity Day girls up to This is the Place park for some fun pioneering activities. She loved the leather stamping, but somehow lost her piece of leather she made, which was a bummer. But she showed us all her gold that she had panned for and told us all the fun she'd had. It sounded like a really good time and they were gone for eight hours so I know they did more than I heard about :). She was EXHAUSTED when she got home- and even the next day. What a neat experience for her though! I'm glad she got to go do that! Such fun leaders. 7-2-18
FHE
For FHE Luke taught our lesson- I'm trying to remember what his lesson was on (it's been a week). But he told me he was going to "wing it" and did a fantastic job, as usual. I wish I was good at winging lessons. We played Base-frisbee- a game Nate made up when we realized we didn't want to play baseball with no mitts and stuff for everyone, and kick ball was out since our ball popped. It ended up being pretty fun! We went and got snow cones for Erika's treat. Lots of fun. 7-2-18
PIANO
My mom's been wanting to try a new young kid program for teaching piano so she started teaching Jack on Tuesday. He was feeling adventurous and consented :). He told me he was done, and I asked how it went, I loved his response, "It was long." HA!!! He was paying attention and doing so well, my mom just kept on going :). He does have an amazing attention span. I think he still liked it. He was funny when Grandma asked him if he'd like it to be shorter next time (probably offended a little by his previous response), he said an exasperated, "YES!" HA!! He's so hilarious. REPENTANCE AND FORGIVENESS
The Bishop came in for Sharing time today and since the topic was Repentance and being forgiven again, he brought those two pictures again. I'm not sure if I talked about them last year, but they are perfect for this. One is set in a dark room, with a woman kneeling at Jesus' knee, with her head bowed. She is wearing a red dress. In the other one the woman is sitting next to Jesus with a well lit outside setting. She is wearing white and smiling, Jesus is wearing a red cloak just like the one the woman had on in the first picture. It's SUPER symbolic and the first time he brought it the kids really got into the symbolism, it was really cool, they noticed things I don't think I would have. So this time, he wasn't planning on going over all of it again, but he ended up doing that because the kids wouldn't stop pointing it out! It was cool. I love that they can grasp those concepts. Like Jesus taking our sins upon him, like a red cloak. Pretty cool. The pictures are really awesome- I want copies of them. It's just a cool thing and brought the Spirit so well. I was glad. 6-24-18
LAUNDRY
So the girls needed clean clothes for EFY, so we invited ourselves to my mom's to use her washer and dryer. I didn't want to feel like a mooch so I offered to bring our Zuppa Toscana with us to share :). Sarah and her kids came while we were there as well. We had a pretty good time considering we were doing laundry on Sunday :). 6-24-18
SCOUT CAMP
Nate, Brad and Luke all left for Scout camp, Monday, just after the girls and I for EFY. I haven't heard a word from them yet (two days now), so hopefully they are still alive and having a good time. We'll see I guess. 6-26-18
EFY
I dropped Charity and Kelly off at EFY yesterday! Always a little crazy for me. I love that they're getting to go to EFY, but I know I'm going to miss them and there's a possibility they won't have fun... anyway. We got there in record time! Seriously, less than an hour! Oops. We got their tags and Kelly's favorite part- the lanyards. We made the long trek to Kelly's room- shoulda driven there- got her key, went in and got her all set up, made her bed, like I did last year for Charity, she wrote a little note to her roomie, and then we walked back to the car to drive over to Charity's place. Kelly was in Heritage Halls, Charity was in Helaman Halls. Charity's place brought back so many memories all of a sudden! We took her in, met her roommate, then hurried off to get lunch- didn't get to make herself at home- We grabbed some Carl's Jr. for Charity and me, then ate at Arby's so that Kelly could get what she wanted. I took them back and it was a really anticlimactic goodbye! Didn't really feel right for that matter. But they were off. Hopefully it's a wonderful, Spirit-filled week for them. And that they have fun. So far (it's Tuesday) I've heard about Kelly facetiming her roommate's mom and the session director is fun, the counselors are nice, get to know you games, and her company's name is "Ye May Know" (still not sure what that means- I'll have to look up the scripture she gave me: D&C 58:42-42--- interesting reference number there), and that she asked someone to dance :). Charity is in a smaller session with only 350-ish kids. Bro. Burbidge the session director told each company to send someone who can say the alphabet really fast. Charity got sent up and then they slowly eliminated people and she ended up winnign the whole thing!! How funny is that! Her company was "freaking out". No formal dance this year- interesting?? She said John Bytheway is doing a class- pretty cool. And Brad Wilcox's son Russell Wilcox! Even cooler. She wished the company could stick together more during classes- cute Charity- for bonding, and she got a solo for the musical program!!! My brave little girl! So I think they're both having a good time. I hope. 6-26-18
BIG DAY
So today was the last day of being PTA President (officially since we handed over the binder). I finally finished the Arrow of light stuff- so glad to have that out of my hands. AND I went to my first Lacrosse Parent Board meeting. It was WAY LONGER than I had imagined. Hopefully they aren't all like that... I don't know. Secretary isn't really my thing, but it seemed easier than other things... I don't know. So anyway. It felt like a big milestone day for me. A relief. 6-26-18
DAY 3
Wednesday was a lot of fun. I'm going to affectionately call this day Hatch Day because it was our main day to hang out with the Hatches. We went really late to playgroup on Wednesday, so we only got to play with friends (or avoid playing with friends, I should say) for a little bit, but then headed off to the Zoo to meet up with Sarah and her kids. Unfortunately, and embarrassingly, I missed the exit and had to go all the way to 3300 S. because I was buried in the carpool lane, so that was a bummer, we got there like 20 minutes late! But after that it was smooth sailing. They even let us in without any trouble. Pretty cool. We had a lot of fun looking at the animals and just being with them. Sarah and I stopped in all the shady spots to catch up, and the kids were back to being best buds right away. I love how kids do that. It was a VERY hot day! 97 degrees is pretty hot for the zoo. Who goes to the zoo in 97 degree temps? But we all agreed that the drive to Pizza Pie Cafe was almost worse than the zoo! Even with the AC blasting! We met up with Grandpa and Steve for pizza. That was a crazy little trip to PPC, but the kids loved being with their cousins and I got to make Steve laugh when I dumped my Ranch tainted lemon wedges onto his empty plate. They were all Ranch-y, I couldn't squeeze them into my water after that. He thought it was really funny for some reason, so I'll take it :). It's not everyday I get to make him laugh. Returning the favor. I had a ginormous salad and thought I was doing so good with the KETO, but when I put it all into my ap, it was like 50 carbs? I kinda think there was something wrong, or maybe it wasn't NET carbs... not sure. Anyway. After pizza, we went up to Grandpa Hatch's house. The kids went through Grandpa's change collection and adopted all the ones they wanted. HA! Great way to steal money from someone :). Then we went and got snowcones together- kind of a tradition with us, Grandpa and the Hatches. Lots of fun! We made some pretty memorable messes! I loved Savannah's "all the girls together!" poses :). She's adorable. Even with a red tongue. Then Noah, Jack and the Hatch kids all slept over at Grandma Hatch's house! Erika didn't want to leave Molly out, so she decided not to sleepover, so we took advantage of the opportunity to have a "girls night". We went to Walmart, got some clothes since ours were all dirty (HA! I wish this could always be the answer to that problem :). Just kidding)- one more day without a dryer! Then came home and watched Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken on my bed with my laptop. Just the three of us :). It was so much fun! I loved Molly's little forced toot followed by, "I tooted in you bed" big smile :). She's hilarious. She fell asleep before it was over so I took her to bed. Erika wanted to sleep with me :). 6-27-18
POOR DEER.... POOR NATE!
I got a call this morning from Nate on his way home from scout camp to work an evening shift today, and he had some bad news! He had run into a deer! He said he saw a few standing by the road, but had no idea one of them was going to jump out in front of him and commit suicide right there. He was able to slam on the breaks and turn a little, but the front left part of the car was completely smashed in. Such a bummer. I'm so glad he was okay! It's weird because recently I had had some thoughts about running into animals on the road and how dangerous that is and how much damage it can cause. That is definitely a blessing that he didn't have any problems. He had to spend all of his morning calling the insurance company and repair shops and car rental places. Poor guy. I wish he could catch a break. But he got to work on time and will hopefully be able to make it up to the camp tonight. 6-28-18
DAY 5
Friday we spent the morning cleaning up the house- we weren't sure when the guys were coming home, and we wanted it to be nice for them. I was SO impressed with Noah and Erika and their ability to get things done! Just the three of us (since Jack and Molly are more work than help) cleaned up most of the house together in a little over an hour. The parts that really needed it I guess. Pretty awesome. After some vegging and the kids playing with all their friends all day- there was a good two hours where I was home all by myself and Molly was asleep. It was so weird. I don't even remember what I did. Probably slept a little and blog booked a little. Kinda weird. I don't love being alone. I always think I'm going to want alone time, but then I hate it. So then we got the idea to go get pizzas and go up to Castle Park. McKay called Noah right as we were headed out and so we picked up him and Ross to come with. We had a great time at the Castle Park. Then we went over to Station Park for some It's Sugar (tradition when anyone is gone :) ), and Pretzel Bites. I am still wishing I'd splurged and had one- HA! We came home and I think we watched yet another movie :). Good times. We heard from Nate that they had ended camp a day early and most of the guys were headed home. Nate took Luke, Brad and Trenton to Grandpa's house in Bear Lake so that they could fish on their way home. So weird. But they had a blast. 6-30-18
SATURDAY
This was a good day- minus getting pulled over for making a cop look bad (there were not SIX reduced speed limit signs though- I checked on my way home- still can't complain though- he didn't even ask for my license or registration- verbal warning, that never happens)- I dragged all the littles out of their beds after only 5 or so hours of sleep- eek! to go get Charity and Kelly at EFY. We loved hearing about their week at Kneaders over breakfast and then all the way home. I was so relieved that Charity's week had been a lot better this year than last. She was basically a star all week. Kelly had had a great time too- so that was fun! I'm glad they enjoyed themselves. We got home and everyone was pretty tired so most of us slept for a little bit. Then the boys came home! We got to hear all about their adventures. I really need to have everyone write about their weeks. We were all pretty tired still. I did manage to get all the weeds in the driveway pulled- yes, that is weird, and yes, they were making me crazy every time I saw them. There wasn't a whole lot else to do besides watch Studio C all evening. Everyone was so tired. Brad and I even put off our date that night for the next week because he was such a zombie. Kelly went to a play with her friends, Noah went to a birthday party and so did Erika. So we were still down in numbers, but it was nice to be back to normal life a little. 6-31-18

He was able to slam on the breaks and turn a little, but the front left part of the car was completely smashed in. Such a bummer. I'm so glad he was okay! It's weird because recently I had had some thoughts about running into animals on the road and how dangerous that is and how much damage it can cause. That is definitely a blessing that he didn't have any problems. He had to spend all of his morning calling the insurance company and repair shops and car rental places. Poor guy. I wish he could catch a break. But he got to work on time and will hopefully be able to make it up to the camp tonight. 6-28-18
DAY 5
Friday we spent the morning cleaning up the house- we weren't sure when the guys were coming home, and we wanted it to be nice for them. I was SO impressed with Noah and Erika and their ability to get things done! Just the three of us (since Jack and Molly are more work than help) cleaned up most of the house together in a little over an hour. The parts that really needed it I guess. Pretty awesome. After some vegging and the kids playing with all their friends all day- there was a good two hours where I was home all by myself and Molly was asleep. It was so weird. I don't even remember what I did. Probably slept a little and blog booked a little. Kinda weird. I don't love being alone. I always think I'm going to want alone time, but then I hate it. So then we got the idea to go get pizzas and go up to Castle Park. McKay called Noah right as we were headed out and so we picked up him and Ross to come with. We had a great time at the Castle Park. Then we went over to Station Park for some It's Sugar (tradition when anyone is gone :) ), and Pretzel Bites. I am still wishing I'd splurged and had one- HA! We came home and I think we watched yet another movie :). Good times. We heard from Nate that they had ended camp a day early and most of the guys were headed home. Nate took Luke, Brad and Trenton to Grandpa's house in Bear Lake so that they could fish on their way home. So weird. But they had a blast. 6-30-18
SATURDAY
This was a good day- minus getting pulled over for making a cop look bad (there were not SIX reduced speed limit signs though- I checked on my way home- still can't complain though- he didn't even ask for my license or registration- verbal warning, that never happens)- I dragged all the littles out of their beds after only 5 or so hours of sleep- eek! to go get Charity and Kelly at EFY. We loved hearing about their week at Kneaders over breakfast and then all the way home. I was so relieved that Charity's week had been a lot better this year than last. She was basically a star all week. Kelly had had a great time too- so that was fun! I'm glad they enjoyed themselves. We got home and everyone was pretty tired so most of us slept for a little bit. Then the boys came home! We got to hear all about their adventures. I really need to have everyone write about their weeks. We were all pretty tired still. I did manage to get all the weeds in the driveway pulled- yes, that is weird, and yes, they were making me crazy every time I saw them. There wasn't a whole lot else to do besides watch Studio C all evening. Everyone was so tired. Brad and I even put off our date that night for the next week because he was such a zombie. Kelly went to a play with her friends, Noah went to a birthday party and so did Erika. So we were still down in numbers, but it was nice to be back to normal life a little. 6-31-18
