Week of 5-5-19

NO NATE FOR CHURCH
It's been a while since I had to do church alone and for the most part, it was pretty smooth!  I was surprised!  We were even ready to go at 8:30!  To which I almost had us wait, but then decided we better just go before something happened.  Luckily we did too, because they had just re-finished the gym floor so we had to scrunch together and people had to sit on the stand or in the Relief Society or Primary rooms.  We wouldn't have had much of a seat if we'd been later.  It was a nice Sacrament meeting, testimony meeting, Noah was the only one to bear his testimony!  Kinda crazy.  That doesn't usually happen.  I don't know what happened to Jack wanting to bear his testimony.  He used to get so excited that it was fast Sunday.  But that's okay.  The rest of church was a struggle for me.  I'm so tired of feeling like a waste of space in Primary.  I'm not really sure what to do.  It's hard to feel useless, but I also don't want to be spinning wheels for no reason.  It's distracting to the kids to do too much.  I hope I can get this figured out soon.  5-5-19

NATE HOME FOR SUNDAY EVENING
Nate got home around 4:00 and it was a lot of fun to have him home with us for dinner and for our reading time. It's always a fun change to have him there.  Our family council went way over because it could and we all sat around after, talking about all the funny things Molly does.  She was asleep through it all.  I love how much everyone loves her and enjoys her.  She's a fun little girl.  It's going to be weird to have her grow up!  We are all going to miss her lithp :).  5-5-19

DRYER BALLS
I'm trying this out for a while.  Got some new, cheaper ones to try it with more- the three I had weren't cutting it- so we'll see.


KELLY'S LACROSSE BANQUET
Another end of the season banquet.  Hard to believe it's been another year.  Kelly got the "Hype Man" award for always being so positive and pumping everyone up.  Cool award for Kelly.  I was so proud of her!  It was fun to watch her with her friends- they were so happy and having such a great time!  I enjoy this stuff just because I get to see them in their element. This banquet stressed me out a little since I had signed Nate up to do the meat and I was making the video.  That video brought me so much anxiety!  I was so glad I had Kelly's input and her fun quotes to put in it.  It was stressful putting it together for three days and then a really stressful two hours of trying to get it to save onto my laptop minutes before we needed it, but SO rewarding when we showed it to the teams.  They seemed to love it!  That made all the stress worth it.  Kelly nailed it with the quotes for sure.  Here's to another year!  5-6-19

MOLLY'S PETS

Molly is obsessed with all the insects and creatures out in the flower beds now :).  It's super cute.  She LOVES the snails or "Nails" as she calls them.  This is her little home she made for one of them.  My favorite was when she left one of her homes on the driveway, no lid, and by the time I was getting back into the car to pick up Brad and Kelly from their Regional dance, the snail had climbed out of the home, and slithered in a U-turn back over to the flower bed.  The trail was quite visible, made me laugh!  Unfortunately, when we got home and I showed it to the kids, Kelly accidentally stepped right on the snail!  Kinda funny, kinda not.  Molly wasn't happy about it the next day.  5-7-19

FROYO
My ministers, Christie May and Brooke Desmond, took me out to frozen yogurt Tuesday night.  That was pretty fun.  We had some interesting conversation.  It was nice to get out though, and nice to be thought of :).  Good times.  5-7-19

28 WEEKS AND 6 DAYS
I went in for a doctor appointment today.  Had to have my glucose test which was interesting.  I was all geared up to get really sick, and it didn't happen, so now I'm all worried that the results were different from in the past- can't just enjoy not feeling sick, I gotta be worried that I have gestational diabetes.  Hopefully, I'm wrong.  The appointment went well though.  We got to hear her heartbeat and got measured.  Dr. Thackeray sounded like he is planning on the 18th of July as well!  So that's good.  Although, now I want to try to talk him into the 11th :).  I don't know why.  We'll see how it goes.  He said if I'm having lots of contractions we would move it up.  So we'll see :).  5-8-19

KELLY'S LAST GAME OF THE SEASON
Kelly's team made it into the playoffs and were all psyched to play Jordan Wednesday night.  Of course the weather didn't exactly cooperate, but we played anyway- lightning and all.  This game was tough.  They are a good team and we put up a good fight, but thanks to the crappy refs and some clumsy moves, we lost.  But the good thing about this game was KELLY'S GOAL!!!!  SHE SCORED!!  I was SO HAPPY!  I almost cried.  Seriously.  It was awesome!  Such a great way to end the season.  It was sad to lose, but I think everyone was kind of ready for it to be over.  Kelly seems relieved a little.  So that is good. We're already looking forward to Fall Ball :).  Grandpa and Dawn came to support and finally watch a game- such a great one for them to see!  And we all went out to Costa Vida to celebrate afterwards.  5-8-19

NATE AKA SUPERMAN
I left Nate with the crazy afternoon when I took Kelly down to Jordan High.  He had to shuffle and juggle getting Brad home from track, Jack's game, dinner, Brad's rehearsal, Erika's activity days and soccer practice, and mutual, all within about three hours!  It was seriously nuts.  I was pretty proud of him!  They all made it to everything and home in one piece.  Go Nate!  5-8-19

KELLY'S AP PSYCH TEST
The big day finally arrived.  Nate, Molly and I checked Kelly out a little early so we could go get some lunch together.  Kneaders... mmmmm.  Then dropped her off at the random church so she could take her test!  This has been a long time coming!  She was so ready for it!  I am glad she finally got it over with.  She seemed relieved when I picked her up.  Though indifferent about how it went.  I'm sure that's a good thing :).  Go Kelz!  5-9-19

SOUTH END TRACK MEET- BRAD
Nate, Luke, Noah (and Jacob Downs), Erika, Jack, Molly and I all headed over to Davis High for the South End Meet.  This was big!  Brad had made it in discus!  We were so excited to see him participate.  It was a lot of waiting beforehand, if only we'd known that girls were first.  But we got to watch his three throws and then stressfully waited to hear if he had made it into the Finals!  You can imagine everyone's excitement!  I loved how Luke was supporting him on this- made me happy.  So then we sat and watched the Finals.  They had nine boys and were going to take the top six.  I think Brad's nerves got the best of him, which was a bummer, but he tried!  A couple of crummy releases held him back I'm afraid.  We all know he could have done better, so it was sad that he didn't get to make it to District.  But like he said, there's always next year.  He actually handled it really well.  I was proud of him.  And SO proud of his hard work and all the effort that got him there!  He really has put so much into this!  Very cool.  5-10-19

BAPTISMS
WE DID IT!!!  We finally made it to the temple as a family!!  Well, minus four.  But this has been a LONG time coming!  We've planned and rescheduled a million times.  I was SO HAPPY when we finally made it there.  And we didn't have a ton of time that morning, we needed to get Brad back by 9:00 for his rehearsal and Charity before that so she could get ready and go to her State Choir Festival, so we were relieved when they told us we would be in and out since there was hardly anyone there.  That was a major blessing.  It was so cool!  I just love being in the temple together!  Makes me so happy!  I had printed off a few names from my family search, one of which was actually not a name, but meant "Unbaptized child", so I need to look into that.  But pretty cool.  We stopped at Great Harvest on our way home and grabbed breakfast as well as some sweet bread to leave on the doorstep for Steve.  It was a great way to start our day.  I loved it.  5-11-19

CHARITY STATE CHOIR FESTIVAL
We were able to show lots of support at Charity's choir festival on Saturday.  Kelly, Luke, Noah, Erika, Jack, Molly, Nate and I all went!  It was a cool building- the Libby something building up at the U, very cool acoustics.  They sounded amazing!  I was so impressed again.  We all loved the Elijah Rock song the most :).  I think it meant something to Charity to have us there.  I hope so.  We stopped at Harmons on our way home so that I could have flash backs to when the older kids were little, as Molly threw THE HUGEST FIT all over the place as I got us some food to eat.  Nate and Noah had gone to Nike to get him some shoes, and all heck seriously broke loose.  Not my favorite.  But we ate.  We grabbed Brad from his rehearsal when we got home.  5-11-19

ERIKA VS. KATE
This was a much anticipated game!  You can imagine the torture having to wait all the way to 5:00 Saturday evening.  Erika's team was playing Kate's!  This was big!  I have to say, I think it went well- I was feeling super competitive and wanted Erika's team to win, but I don't think Erika really cared.  She was just happy to be with Kate.  I loved her big hug/lifting Kate's feet off the ground, before the game started.  And I hope I get copies of the pictures Emily got of them going head to head.  They were both smiling so big!  So cute!  I'm proud of Erika's sportsmanship.  Kate's team was really good and we put up a good fight, but in the end Kate's team one 3-1.  I was happy that our point was Erika's :).  She is so good!  It's so fun to be her mom and watch her dominate :).  And really, she's been doing really awesome at sharing the ball, even though it's hard.  I've been so proud of her.  5-11-19

Week of 4-28-19

STAKE CONFERENCE
I was so bummed that I didn't remember the adult session the night before, but I promised myself I wouldn't let that get to me and I would just soak up all I could from the Sunday meeting.  It ended up working, which was nice!  I LOVED this meeting!  There was so much to learn!  President Taylor is always awesome.  I was really grateful for his talk.  I LOVED Elder Taylor's and the other visiting 70 who spoke as well.  They were great talks.  I wish I could remember what they said.  Nate will have to help me.  I am drawing a blank right now.  But the kids did amazing and it was an awesome meeting!  4-28-19

JACK'S FIRST BASEBALL GAME
Jack did so good at his first game!  He struck out, unfortunately, but he had a good time and looked good doing it :).  I love that he's so gung-ho about this sport!

FHE
For Family Night, Molly taught the lesson about The Good Shepherd.  She and I had planned on working on a different lesson during the day and didn't, so we threw this together at the last minute.  But it worked and Molly loved it, so that was good.  Plus, I think we actually learned something.  We wrote our postcards to the Websters for Nate's activity and cheesecake for my treat :).  4-29-19

TO THE ZOO, ONE LAST TIME

Emily's passes were expiring the same day as ours so even though it was raining, we all decided to go spend one last day there.  Molly loved it!  Even in the rain.  

We brought Bea with us because she was here playing. 

ON THE TABLE
Nate and I worked the stats table for Kelly's game on Wednesday against Viewmont.  This game was a bummer.  We were losing by a lot and to top it off, it was POURING RAIN the whole time!  We were under the tent, not running around in a skirt and short sleeves, so I really shouldn't complain, but we were freezing and wet.  It was fun to be together with Erika, Nate and I.  4-30-19

NOAH'S SOLO AUDITIONS
Noah worked so hard on this French song all week, trying to perfect it in order to audition last Wednesday.  He and McKay had practiced together a bunch as well.  It was super cute to see him so into it.  I thought he sounded great! Unfortunately, he found out this Wednesday that he did not get the part.  Kind of a bummer, but I'm glad he stuck his neck out there and tried.  5-1-19

NOAH CLASS DECATHLON
Noah was SUPER nervous about his class decathlon.  He had warmed up, practiced, and gotten very anxious and excited about this!  I signed up to help, so hopefully it helped that I was there and didn't make it worse.  He did a great job!  He's pretty sure he made it to district.  We will find out on Thursday next week!  5-1-19

BRAD TRACK
We went down to Viewmont to see Brad do the hurdles and long jump.  We missed his Discus and Relay.  He did a great job!  I was so proud of him!  He didn't seem to happy with his scores, but I'm glad he stays positive.  We had to hurry and leave for Jack's game.  Brad actually had to hurry and leave early as well, for his Benefit Choir Concert- which we missed... I feel bad, but he said we will hear all the same songs at his end of year concert, so I'm hoping that having it with the orchestra and band weren't too cool to miss!  He is one busy kid!  5-1-19

THURSDAY
Thursday was a little nuts.  Lots of happenings.  Kelly had to go to school at 5:30 to go driving with the Driver's Ed teacher.  That was fun.  She was so tired!  Then, because of how Nate signed up for two field trips and I signed him and me up for separate ones, we both ended up going on field trips- I went on two!  How funny that all three kids had one on the same day.  So Nate and Molly hopped on the bus (I can't believe Mrs. Moncur let them ride the bus), and went down to the Bee's game.  They got in a little fender bender, so that was pretty exciting.  Or not, since they had to wait about 45 minutes to get off the bus while they waited for the police to come.  Kind of crazy, but a fun story to tell later.  I guess they had a good time.  Molly was even pleasant.
At the same time they were getting on the bus, Jack and I were headed out for our walking field trip to the Farm Days where the Kaysville market is.  This is a fun field trip.  You rotate from station to station learning about all things farmer!  Cows, wheat, vegetables, horses, meat.  It was fun.  I only wish Jack hadn't gotten mad at me for interrupting his little tussle with a kid over a spot to stand.  He gave me the silent treatment for the rest of the trip and then wouldn't let me go until I walked him to his classroom and peeled him from my body.  Not sure what was up with him.  We worked things out when he came home, but definitely not how I like to spend field trips.  We'll have to work on that.

As we made it to the school, we crossed paths with Erika's class walking off to the exact same field trip.  I had no idea it was the same one, when I decided to do both, but it wasn't a big deal.  I didn't mind watching it all again.  I was glad that they were just leaving, because I had wondered if I was going to make it in time or have to be late.  I was able to catch up with her after taking Jack to his class.  She had to drag me the last little bit of the way- the contractions I had that day... not fun!  This field trip was fun, it was fun to be with Erika.  We walked over to the park for lunch after the Farm days.  Unfortunately, I didn't have a lunch.  But we had a good time talking on the way back too.  Good times!  I was starving and tired when we got done.  Had a nice hour to myself after before Nate, Noah and Molly got home.  5-2-19

WRESTLING END OF YEAR BANQUET
I'm still laughing that they call this a banquet :).  I don't think it went according to Coach Porter's plans, and it wasn't super smooth, but it was a nice time with Nate and Brad and I.  I loved being able to be there for him.  They had a dad who owns a taco food truck parked out front.  We stood in line for about a half hour waiting to order, then again for another half hour to get our food which never really got done.  Then Porter took us into the cafeteria, told us they would bring our food in but we needed to get started on awards.  It was fun to see Brad up there with all the 8th graders and to think about how much hard work he has put into this season!  He's really done amazing and I'm so proud of him for sticking with it.  It really is a cool sport.  A tough sport too with a lot of determination.  I wish he could have gotten one of the other awards, just for him, but it was his first year playing.  Next year :).  They finally brought our food a few minutes before the "banquet" was over.  So we sat there with Layne and Jami and ate.  It was amazingly delicious, well worth the wait, but how weird is that!  Banquet in my mind usually means more than folding tables and chairs with styro-foam food containers that are handed out sporadically.  But it is wrestling, so no complaints :).  Fun evening watching Brad with his friends and in his element.  Good times.  5-2-19

TEMPLE WALK
Charity, Kelly, Brad, Luke and Nate all walked from Centerville to the Bountiful temple, up along the ridge line.  We all thought it was a pretty weird activity, but they all came back talking about and feeling like it was really great!  There were even lots of testimonies born about it the next day, so that was cool.  I'm glad they were willing to go even though it didn't seem like the funnest thing to do.  Good kids.  5-4-19

ERIKA SOCCER GAME
Erika was the awesome goalie for the first half of this game.  Stopped about 4 or 5 shots.  That was thrilling.  They played a pretty good team and our second half goalie didn't do as well, so we lost, but it was fun to watch Erika put her whole heart into it.  Especially since it was 8:00 am.  She plays so hard!  5-4-19

Week of 4-21-19

EASTER SUNDAY
Easter didn't feel as much like Easter as it usually does.  Probably because we did everything the day before.  But I was glad we could keep it a little more reverent.  We had church and the kids all loved that they knew all the answers about the Resurrection because we had been studying it all week!  Point for us :).  Made me happy really.  Then Charity had the idea to invite Uncle Steve for dinner!  Which we did.  It was a lot of fun!  He stayed for quite a while and just played with us and chatted.  It was fun how everyone stayed in the same room together, laughing and joking together.  Lots of fun!  Steve has a way of lightening up the place!  I will never get over how funny his "voice change" conversation about Brad was!  "He sounds like a 35 year old man!... I feel like I have to lower my voice to fit in!....  Even when he's laughing, hu hu hu!... And he's like 12 feet tall- what is this!?"  SO HILARIOUS!!  I think it made Brad's night really.  But who am I :).  So anyway.  Good times.  Happy Easter to all of us :).  4-21-19

This was Molly and Kelly on the hampoline!  I looked out and couldn't resist the pictures.  It was funny that in the beginning, Kelly had Molly tangled up in her legs and was pinning her down.  Then Molly got up- they were laughing and struggling the whole time.  So funny!  Then Kelly got up and was being zombie-like and Molly looked like she was trying to attack her... it was hilarious.  I guess I should have gotten the details from them, but this is what I saw :).  Super cute big sister entertaining her little.  7-22-19

 BRING YOUR KID TO WORK DAY
This is our first time doing this, so everyone was super excited!  We had Brad, Erika and Jack go for the first half of his shift, then Noah and Luke got checked out and we swapped.  I loved hearing about it from Brad and Erika (Jack was less talkative) when I was driving them back to school.  They got to use the simulators, work out with dad, Brad got to talk to a pilot! they ate pizza, got strips!  It sounded like a party.  I am interested to see how it goes for Luke and Noah. 4-22-19

FUNNY KIDS
I had to get after the kids this week for not telling me more.  They don't fill me in on the process of things and I have no idea just how important or valuable some things are.  I found out that it's apparently really difficult to get into an event in track at our school.  With so many on the team, they only take the top 10!  I had no idea.  Brad has had such an experience with track that it just seemed like an easy thing.  I didn't really realize that the tryouts were that big a deal or just how good he is.  I feel bad!  But now I know and when I heard that he had qualified for SIX EVENTS this week, I was more impressed than ever!!  Very cool!  He is actually quite the track star and we had no idea!  I'm glad I've made it a priority at least- maybe he didn't even know that about my cluelessness!  So anyway.  I have felt like this with some of Charity's choir things as well.  Silly kids!  4-23-19

FHE
We had to postpone family night this week to Tuesday, since we weren't home from Jack's game til 7:30 and Brad was in desperate need of some track shoes.  It was really for the best considering how tired everyone was- especially Erika for some reason- I think she's growing!  But Tuesday night was empty so it worked perfectly.  We had Nate's lesson about the good Samaritan.  Everyone enjoyed his stories about examples in his own life and then shared some of their own.  It was pretty cool lesson.  I liked that we were all feeling pumped to be better at this.  For our activity, rather than clean out the car as I had been planning, I changed my mind and instead we went to Walmart to pick out things for our "Utah Package" for the Websters (shh, don't tell them!).  This was a lot of fun.  We raided the tourist aisle for some post cards and key chains and then found some other Utah-ish things- green jello, Utah truffles, Fry Sauce, salt water taffy.  It was a lot of fun. I did force everyone to clean out the car as we were getting out when we got home.  Seemed doable.  We had Charity's drumsticks for the treat and then headed off to bed.  I thought it was a fun memorable night!  4-23-19

NOAH SOLO TRYOUTS
Cute Noah has spent several hours (not exaggerating!) practicing these parts for solos in his choir.  I was so impressed with his commitment.  The solos are in French too, to make it that much more exciting.  I've been really proud of him and his effort and praying for him to get one of the solos.  He wants it so bad!  He tried out Wednesday, we may not know until next Wednesday, so fingers crossed! 4-24-29

BRAD'S TRACK MEET
This week's meet was at Farmington High.  Brad had chosen to do hurdles, long jump, discus, and 400 M.  Unfortunately, he twisted his ankle during the hurdles so he decided to forego the 400 M.  Kind of a bummer, but I was so proud of his efforts this week!  I wish I could have watched more of the meet.  We did get to see him do the hurdles, that is a lot of fun to watch.  He did great!  Although, I think he said he didn't do as well as last week.  Too bad.  And he didn't love his discus score either.  But I think he said he got 14' on the long jump which is a whole foot more than last time.  I'm just so proud of him and how much work he puts into these things!  He really impresses me with his initiative and commitment.  4-24-19

KELLY'S GAME AT WEST HIGH
Kelly's team finally won again!  It's been a few games now of losing and it's been kind of discouraging, so this was exciting!  They played great!  And as Kelly put it- they had "beautiful transitions"!  Whatever that is.  It was a fun game to watch, even in the sprinkling rain.  They did great!  Kelly had a few assists.  Which has become the norm for her, so I hope I haven't let myself get immune to it :).  She tried out a few flops this game too :).  As the fun cheering section for the other team called it, "The Davis Flop!"  Cracked me up.  They were a lot of fun to watch too, actually.  "BRICK WALL!!!"  HAHAHA!  Good job, Kelz!  4-24-19

JACK'S FIRST HIT!
While Charity and I were at Kelly's game in Salt Lake, everyone else was at Jack's game at Ponds Park.  He got his first hit!  I was so excited to hear about it!!  Even made it on base!  He acted all modest about it when I asked him at home, but Nate had texted that he was beaming!  I am so sad I missed it!  He sure loves his baseball and is trying so hard!  It's the perfect sport for him right now, I hope we can make it all that he hoped for and more.  He also got to do the treat, which I think he loved :).  4-24-19

FORGIVENESS
Our study time was focused on forgiveness Wednesday night which happened to be something I have been thinking a lot about this week and actually NEEDING to focus on.  Especially Wednesday.  I had a really annoying time at playgroup and this triggered an entire day of frustration and dwelling on things that I shouldn't have.  It was a struggle.  I lost.  I failed.  It was rough.  I was grateful for the reminder that evening and repented that night.  I am trying so hard to let go of things as they happen rather than dwelling on them.  Not my strong suit.  But I am going to keep trying.  4-24-19

NOTHING
We had nothing on the calendar for Thursday!  Kind of weird.  I mean, there were things, but for Nate and I- nothing!  It was actually pretty awesome.   I was able to paint the trim in the kitchen finally- still need to do all the touch-ups, but this was a step and looks so much better!  Then we went to lunch, bought all the stuff for Nate's wedding catering he's doing tomorrow, played a few rounds of bananagrams with whoever showed mercy and sat down with me.  We even got to go on a date that evening!  We went to Costa Vida and saw Shazam!  Funny movie!  I wish the scary guys weren't so scary- I'd let the kids see it.  Fun night though, nice and relaxing!  Tomorrow will be similar, minus the catering job, so that is something to look forward too.  4-25-19

POTATO SALAD
Nate had a catering job for his friend at work's wedding.  He asked me to make the potato salad and the way things were going with our schedule, it helped that Nate was okay taking the littles to their well child visit (for Erika, Jack and Molly- this was a much needed, long put off trip).  It was just a quiet morning for me, standing in the kitchen making potato salad.  Always makes me think of my grandma.  I use her recipe and everyone loves it of course.  It's fun to be able to contribute to Nate's business.  I am glad he lets me.  We got it all done in time though and all was well!  Nate did a great job!  Had lots of compliments on everything!  4-26-19

ERIKA'S GAME
Erika had another amazing game!  Scored a few times, and played hard!  She's so fun to watch!  I just love that she has soccer in her life right now.  4-27-19

CHARITY SOLO AND ENSEMBLE STATE
Nate, Brad and I rushed off from dropping Erika and Kelly off at Kaysville Elementary for her team pictures.  We needed to get up to Northridge High Seminary for Charity's Solo and Ensemble- State performance.  I was glad we got there and found the hidden seminary when we did- we were just in time.  She performed and did amazing!  She never ceases to amaze me with her abilities and her performance level!  She's amazing!  She did great!  I think she said she got a 1-, which is really great!!  She stayed there and we stopped at Great Harvest on our way home for muffins and sweet rolls for everyone.  I LOVED watching Kelly and Erika walking home together on Main Street- they CHOSE to walk!  Such cute girls.  I love that they have each other.  4-27-19

KETO CAKES
I got Nate another round of Keto cakes this Saturday.  I missed the pick up on Wednesday, so that was a bummer.  Kind of a late Valentine's gift :).  He loves them.  That makes me happy.  4-27-19
