WARD CONFERENCE
Most of us missed Ward Conference. Thanks to this dumb stomach bug, Charity, Kelly and Luke were the only ones to go. Sounded like a really great Sunday. I wish I'd been there. Luke got the candy bar his teachers promised him. That was the main reason he wanted to go :). It was a long tired Sunday, but I felt better about keeping the germs home. Most of us seem fine, which is good. Hopefully it was the right thing to do. 2-12-17
KELLY'S TEETH SURPRISE
Kelly found out at her Ortho consult that she needed to have 3 teeth pulled and two more herself, before we can start braces. So I scheduled an appointment for the 6th of March. Felt really far away, but the coolest thing happened- our dentist called and had had cancellations, so they let Kelly come in early! It was kind of an unwelcome surprise for her, but she toughed it out. She really did too- those suckers were huge! She looks like her cute toothless self from when she was little- but don't tell her I said that. She was so nice to let me stop at the mall on our way home to do some last minute V-day shopping. She was in a lot of pain for most of the afternoon. 2-13-17
FHE
Charity taught a really great lesson about family unity. We got to pass around papers to write nice things about each person. We had Oreos and milk (a new one!) for the treat- Brad's idea. For the activity we played Sardines. 2-13-17
TEMPLE TUESDAY
We found out really late the night before that the temple was closed for cleaning, so we had to cancel! Kind of a bummer. 2-14-17
VALENTINE'S DAY
I woke up to a beautiful vase of a dozen red roses sitting on my dresser and noticed two other roses in the room placed carefully next to the girls' phones where they charge them in our room at night! Nate is THE SWEETEST husband and dad on the planet. So cute. I love that he thought of his girls. Erika had one as well. We've all been enjoying them all week and feeling special because of his thoughtfulness :). Valentines Day felt a little like an after thought this year, for me. I was wanting to do a lot of special things, but none of it was coming together. There were other more pressing things on my mind unfortunately and since I am the worst multitasker (mentally)- the little stuff I did this year, really just came together at the last minute. Jack and I decided it would be fun to make these cute Milkshake cupcakes that I found on Pinterest. I really wanted to have them done for the kids when they got home. Then while we were out getting supplies we found a cool jar and bulk candies at Bowman's that I decided would look cute with some balloons! Then I got the crazy idea to take them down to Nate's work and leave them at the guard shack for him to be surprised with them later- wouldn't that be so fun!! Well, my plan failed. I ran out of time and then at the last minute when I was headed down to just surprise him myself as he was driving out, the Suburban started making some weird noises. Weirder than the usual ones. It was very frustrating, but I didn't trust it to get me down there in time and safely. We had an appointment scheduled for the next day to have it looked at, so I figured I better just take it easy on her. The noise of course stopped when we got back to our house and neighborhood. So I decided to just take some of the cupcakes to some of my friends :). It was a lot of fun. I really love Valentine's day and doing things for people besides just my sweetheart and kids. I was happy to finally pull that off- first time in a lot of years. I'm usually at the school doing parties! I was a little bummed when I realized I hadn't signed up for a V-day party this year! Felt weird all day having so much time to do other things. Nate came home and even ate a cupcake, he loved the surprise balloons and candy and then later discovered the gift bag next to our bed. I got him a few other things (I'd wanted to do my traditional Jazz garb, but of course, I went to the wrong mall and since Kelly was still aching from getting teeth pulled- this was the day before of course- I settled for Dick's stuff :)). He surprised me with a Bellabeat- which has been my constant companion since- I really love just focusing on my activity level and nutrition. It's been a really good thing. I had gotten my hopes up about him having the mid off, but then he ended up getting scheduled for it anyway- which was a total bummer. So aside from the heart shaped egg in the toast, and the pink cupcakes, there wasn't a whole lot of creativity flowing most of the day. But it was a great day! 2-14-17
"I CAN'T WAIT THAT LONG"
Charity had been counting down the days and looking so forward (don't ask me why) to Wednesday and getting her braces on. So you can imagine the let down when I had to tell her that the Orthodontist had had a family emergency and wasn't going to be able to do them until the 20th! FIVE WHOLE DAYS! She was pretty devastated. I could tell even through text! She asked me to call and see if there was any way they could do it sooner than that, and much to my surprise, they actually called me and gave us an appointment for the very next day! Even though they aren't usually in their Kaysville office that time/day. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Charity was THRILLED! 2-15-17
OOPS
I left the church keys in the Suburban that we had taken up to the shop in Bountiful, so Playgroup was cancelled. Kind of a bummer. But I wasn't exactly in the mood for it either, so it was okay. 2-15-17
7TH GRADE ORIENTATION- BRADLEY VERSION
This was Nate and my 3rd Orientation- it was EXACTLY the same as the other times, except for Bradley's enthusiasm and level of energy the whole time! He wanted Bridger to sit by him, he was moving around all over the bleachers wanting the perfect seat. He was loving all the songs from the different groups. He loved the dances and goofy stuff the girls participated in- even went up and did some dancing in front of everyone- he LOVES attention right now, so it was pretty thrilling that the Principal noticed him, and made mention of him falling off the bleacher he was standing on during the part where they have the 6th graders from each school stand up together. I hope this isn't a sign of how his 7th grade year is going to be :). I did love his interest in so many things. He's really excited now to go to 7th grade. I think he will love it. 2-15-17
BRACES
This is a new one for us! Charity got her braces put on on Thursday morning. The assistant and orthodontist kept telling me what an amazing patient she was and how they need more patients like her :). She loved all the praise and attention and then didn't love the pain that filled her head for the next few days. It has been a very miserable ride to say the least. She sure looks different! Even Molly was a little hesitant to associate with her. She's now counting down the days til she gets them off! 2-16-17
BLUE AND GOLD CARNIVAL
After very little planning and what felt like a pretty thrown together event, Blue and Gold ended up being pretty awesome! Shelly totally pulled it off all by herself! I had no idea what she had in mind and she never asked for any help or told us her vision for decor. So I felt really bad that I didn't help more, but it sure turned out great! The kids got to play the carnival games that the boys each put on, during the first half. I sat behind the fishing pond tarp for that part- pretty awesome. Then we did the food which was kind of funny. I still think we needed apple slices or something :), but it was fine. Corn dogs, nachos, cotton candy and popcorn! Pretty fun! We had TONS left over! Then we did the cake walk with the fella's cakes- that was a big hit with the boys! Pretty fun. I loved spending the time with Noah and Nate and getting to know some of our new ward members a little better as well. Hopefully I can forget Barbara and I making fools of ourselves soon... 2-16-17
HAPPY ENGAGEMENT ANNIVERSARY
This Friday marked the 16th anniversary of when Nate proposed to me. It's so crazy to think back on that time- and to realize it was 16 years ago!! Feels like yesterday. I can't believe we were old enough to make such a big decision and that it ended up being so right! I really could not have imagined that our lives together would turn out THIS good. It's been amazing! Here's to another 16 plus eternity! 2-17-17
PG13
Luke was invited to go see Fantastic Beasts with Clint and before I knew it was PG13 I told him he could go. When we found out I decided to let Luke choose. I had seen it so I knew it wasn't horrible, just a little scary, so I let him choose. I was so glad he chose to not see it since we do have a rule about PG13 movies (there have been a few we've let the kids see though). He told Clint and Clint was super understanding and even though he had been really excited to see Fantastic Beasts, he chose to go with Luke to Moana. They are such good friends. I love that Luke has a good friend he trusts. So proud of him. 2-17-17
ALL NIGHT PARTY
Nate, Charity, Kelly, and Bradley got to go to the Rec Center for a tri-ward Mutual all night party. The rest of us had our own little movie night and wore ourselves out, so I was asleep when they got home and still haven't heard a whole lot about it. Except what Nate's told me. Sounded like a really good time! Made me jealous of course, but I'm glad they all got to go have so much fun. 2-17-17
SLEEPOVERS
I can't remember if I've posted about the sleepover obsession yet- it's been a couple months now where whenever Jack learns that it's not a school night, he gets this little twinkle in his eye and asks if "we can have sleepovuhs?" really sweetly. It's so cute! Then one of his big brothers or sisters rearranges their evening and bed to accommodate him (or any of the littles- they've all been into it) it's been SO CUTE!! I love seeing the big kids go out of their way for the little sibs. It's been oen of the best bonding experiences for all of them and makes their mom really happy :). 2-17-17
BASKETBALL
The basketball games were really exciting! Noah's team stopped the other team from making hardly any points during the second half. Their defense was incredible! Noah made a shot! Bradley and Luke's game was really exciting too because they were playing one of the other Columbia teams. Lots of pressure to win the bragging rights. It didn't seem like Brad or Luke's best game, but they did fantastic nonetheless! Luke made a shot and Bradley made a couple. It was a pretty close game the entire time- we won by 1 point!! So fun! 2-18-17
CHINESE NEW YEAR
We had a nice time at Grandma and Simon's for Chinese New Year. Good food, good company. I wish I'd remembered the fruit. 2-18-17
