HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT
I finally got to give the Grace lesson today! I don't know if I did it justice, but the Spirit was there and everyone was participating, so I am calling it a success. I hope they got something from it. I hope I was able to teach them whatever Heavenly Father wanted them to learn.
THE UNTHINKABLE
So the unthinkable happened today. I'm not sure why I'm putting it on here, it's really embarrassing, but I guess in an effort to keep it real, and maybe for posterity's sake, I'll share. I was sitting in front of the beehives, we had had opening exercises, a really long one actually, then separated for classes, Savannah had welcomed everyone and we even had an opening prayer. I had started introducing my lesson and felt the table vibrate with the silent ring of my phone. I looked over and had to do a double-take. It was a phone call from "Home Phone". I don't even know what I thought was going on, but I couldn't resist, I had to answer it, even though it was a complete disruption from the lesson. When I said hello, this sweet, familiar voice answered, "Hey Mom?" It was NOAH!!!! "I just really wanted to let you know that you guys left me home and I was wondering if you could come get me so that I can go to church." In the calmest, gentlest voice. I couldn't believe it!! I didn't want to tell anyone, but somehow I needed to get the message to Nate to go get him! I invited Charity out in to the hallway and told her to find Nate. It all worked out, but how sad for him!!!! He was such a cutie about it. I gave him a big hug when I got to the pew in the chapel with him, I had to sit and apologize and just hold him and cuddle him for most of the meeting. I felt awful. I really haven't felt like such a crappy parent in a long time. I guess it was overdue! He was really so adorable though. I asked him if he was scared and he said a very confident, almost giggly, "no". Like why would he be scared, he was just at home?! He told Nate when he picked him up that he had contemplated walking, but realized that would have taken him "forever" even though he knows the way :). What a cute little boy. He's so brave. Such a cool little guy. I feel so privileged to be his mom these days, I just wish I deserved him! It brought tears to my eyes to hear his little message he had left earlier when I hadn't had my phone out... he sounded so sweet though. Just so calm and really nonchalant about it. Almost funny if it wasn't what it was. I'm glad we were just at church! 3-16-15
FOUR SQUARE
It was Jack's lesson this week for FHE, but he fell asleep while we were waiting for everyone to do their mealtime jobs. So we chose his lesson for him. And actually didn't do his lesson until after Kelly's activity which was SO MUCH FUN!! We played four square in the driveway (I don't know how we got so lucky to have the perfect driveway for four square!), for about an hour. With everyone and there was little to no whining or fighting!! It was heavenly! I couldn't believe it and I was there! We came in and played Simon says for Jack's lesson (Erika was in charge). Good times. 3-16-15
MEGHAN
Erika started her new session of swim lessons and much to her teacher's surprise (and overjoy) she has the same teacher she had last time!! You should have seen her teacher! She was jumping up and down and then when Erika got in the water she gave her this huge hug and was swinging her around, it was SO adorable! I had no idea she loved her so much :). I don't think Erika knew either :) she was just as surprised :). It was really sweet though- I'm so glad Erika has her thing. She is doing great! Our new little fishy. 3-17-15
REGISTRATION
Kelly is officially registered for JUNIOR HIGH!!! AAAAHHHH!!! She's hiding her enthusiasm a little, so I'll let some out for her. It really is exciting! Crazy, of course, to think that my baby Kelzabelz is going to be a big 7th grader with 10 WHOLE CLASSES, but very exciting too. It's fun to watch my kids grow up and do new things. She's got a lot of great classes picked out. I can't believe some of the options they have available! She's going to love it. 3-18-15
ROLLING OFF MY BACK
There were some things that Jami said at our Presidency meeting on Wednesday night that really offended me. I don't think she realized how offensive it was, or maybe she did, I don't know... I feel like such an outsider at this point. I had no idea how hard this would be to be transplanted into a different presidency. I wish I'd had some sort of preparation. I feel like the odd man out and at the same time I feel so responsible to the girls to keep some things the same, or to maintain a little bit of consistency with some of the things that directly concern them. It's kind of hard to ignore some of the opinions that completely thwart the Come Follow Me program and take HUGE steps backwards. I'm learning though. Trying anyway. So this thing that Jami said stuck with me all evening. I couldn't get it out of my head. It was eating away at my ego and even snuck into my dreams. It was so frustrating. It felt like everything I've worked toward with the YW for the past year had been completely useless and of course Satan helped translate that into everything I do in the future is going to be a waste as well. It was so painful. I had convinced myself that I needed to ask the Bishop to release me... that's how crazy this little brain is. Nate let me cry it out in the morning, thank goodness. He was able to add his wisdom to the picture and that always helps. I was really feeling a lot better. I went most of the day trying to push these negative thoughts away and did pretty well. Fast forward a little to Thursday night, I was walking up to Marilyn Huntington's house with Emily and somehow we got to the subject of how Emily is able to just let the mean things people say to her just roll off her back. It occurred to me that I do the opposite. I let them build a home and implant themselves into my back and brain and heart, and pretty much take over my whole system. The point of this- I'm going to try harder to be more like my good friend Emily. I've got to stop holding grudges, stop letting the things that people say get to me. And stop letting people get on my bad side. It's just a waste. I've wasted so much time hurting when I could just be getting over things and moving on. Emily is a good example. I'll have to channel my inner Emily, and I know it will take some practice, but I can do it!! 3-19-15
WELL CHILD DAY
So we had three well child check ups in one day. One in the morning, and 2 in the afternoon. Annoying that we had to go twice in one day? yes. I like well child visits though. Lets me sit there and evaluate the health of that child and kind of take inventory of how things are going. I probably shouldn't need a doctor visit to do this, but at least I am good at taking them :). They all did great! We got a few answers from Dr. Tew about Luke and Kelly got her shots for 7th grade- can I just say that I think she is the winner for the best during shots! Didn't cry at all! Not til Luke touched her arm. It was amazing. And note to me- do not take Luke and Kelly to the doctor when the wait (post waiting room) is over an hour!!! Not my favorite. Okay, Luke was pretty funny, but still. The stinky feet smell alone about killed me. 3-20-15
CHARITY'S FRIEND PARTY
I'm bummed I didn't get any pictures. But I guess I shouldn't start this out with negativity. Charity planned and invited her four close friends to her house for a party! This was to be very low-key, almost zero parent involvement. It was different for us, but we managed. Nate took the boys all out to the park and then It's Sugar to get them out of the house for a couple hours. Charity chose the new Annie movie and had pizza, watched the movie, and then had a yummy ice cream bar- ice cream with lots of different toppings- it looked like they had a lot of fun. I was glad :). She's growing up so fast! It's crazy. But we love her and the beautiful young lady she is becoming. It's fun to see what this little power house is doing with her life. 3-20-15
SATURDAY
Saturday with no basketball games was kind of nice. We missed it, but we had SO MUCH FUN!! Nate and some of the boys worked on the shed doors- hallelujah! they're back on! The backyard looks like a new place again. Then we were able to go on a little bike ride to 7-11 before Nate had to go to work. We have a lot of fun on those bike rides. It's such a blessing to be able to get out and spend time out together. I really love it. I think the kids do too. Then we came home and everyone had to clean up their bedrooms!! That took a long time. It was a great day though! 3-21-15

Things to Remember 3-8-15
NO GRACE
I didn't get to give any of my lesson on Sunday because we had our new Presidency set apart (it was a good cause, I'll admit that), but I was dying because of how strongly I had felt about the things I was going to teach the girls. So I made an executive decision (well I asked everyone what they thought, but I knew they'd just go with it), and decided I'm teaching next week too. I feel weird about it, but I also feel like it's the right thing. I want them to hear that lesson. I feel like they need to hear that lesson. So I spent the whole week trying to figure out how to play the clips from Brad Wilcox's talk from Youtube. Kind of excited about it now! 3-8-15
EARLY MORNING.... LONG DAY
Got up at 4:30 to go to the temple with the YW. It's always such a good experience. I got to talk with Jami in the car, that was good too. I love starting my day out that way. I felt mostly okay most of the day, hardly any nausea, but I was SO exhausted!! I needed a nap at some point that day, never got one. I even walked to the school with Nate (well, actually with Jami) to get the kids- that was a nice time though. 3-10-15
SURPRISE
Grandpa Hatch showed up for the last 10 minutes of Erika's swim lesson to watch our little fishy. That was fun. 3-10-15
TRAINING
Michelle and I experienced our first time training a new President. I feel like it went surprisingly well! I was so pleased. Hopefully most of it set it. I love Savannah's motivation and how excited and anxious she is to lead. She's going to do great. 3-10-15
7TH GRADE ORIENTATION- KELLY
Kelly is going to be a 7th grader next year!! Blows my mind. We had a lot of fun with her and her friend Sara Jane at their orientation. Felt a little De-ja-vu-ish, very similar to last year, but it was interesting to watch it with Kelly's perspective in mind. She had her eyes glued on the cheerleaders any time they were out on the floor. She seemed very focused on the PTSA, Art department, and CCA(?) classes. We'll have to see how different this year is from Charity's first year. They are such different girls. I like that. I'm really excited for her. I canNOT believe they get 10 classes!! it's like 10 semesters of electives! Holy moly. But they seem like fun classes. She's going to have a lot of fun and a lot of homework :). 3-10-15
PACKED
Took Charity to school for her early morning choir rehearsal at 7:30, took Kelly to her newsletter meeting at 8:00, got the boys ready to go and out the door by 8:45, came home, got ready and went to read with Noah's class at 9:00. Hurried off to take Erika to swimming (her last lesson :( )at 9:30, came home and spent about 2 hours trying to get my Brad Wilcox talk to work, never did get it done before my mom showed up to watch the kids. Nate and I left at 1:15 for my doctor appointment. (Things sounded great, the heart beat was 155, so on the faster end of normal... if we go off of that, could be a boy. And after the dream I had the other day..... Dr. Thackeray was in a talkative mood, it was nice to hear his opinion about our good odds and healthy pregnancies. Interesting that he mentioned that bad things come in clumps, like usually to the same people. I'm so glad I am not one of those people!! I can't thank my Heavenly Father enough for our "good luck". We have been so blessed. I don't know how or why, but we really have beat some incredible odds, having seven healthy pregnancies with seven healthy kids!! I will just keep praying that we can make that eight and eight in the next six months here :)) Then we hurried home (stopping for a craving of Raspberry Chipotle Chicken Burrito from Costa Vida- thanks Nate!), then worked on teh talk some more while Nate picked up the kids and then picked up some Little Caesars because I was completely consumed by my Youtube dilemma. I finally thought (duh) to say a prayer. I mostly just wanted to stop feeling like this talk I was trying to get was not meant to be. I had felt so great about it last week and NEW it was going to be such a great teaching tool for the girls, and then it wasn't working at all for me, with so many trials I started wondering. So anyway, I finally prayed about it and asked Heavenly Father to please make it work if it was a good idea. Then about 2 seconds later, it worked. Wouldn't ya know it! The Spirit then told me, "all you had to do was ask". A lesson I keep learning... or trying to learn I guess. It was cool though. I was very happy it worked! We then had to hurry off to Literacy night/Charity's Choir Concert. I felt so rushed, but I wanted to make sure I made it to each kids' classroom to see their art work. Some of our kids take so much pride in those things. It means a lot to them and therefore- to me. I did get to see most of them before running Charity up to Davis High. It's been a long time since I saw a choir concert. It was so neat to have my own daughter up there!! Made me realize how old she is! I remember 7th grade choir like it was yesterday. So it couldn't have been too long ago- and if it wasn't too long ago, then she's getting old! Charity sang a little duet in one of the songs, with her good friend Eva. That was neat... and a huge surprise! She did great. I really couldn't be more proud of her. Nate and the rest of the kids stayed at the Elementary school for the magician and missed most of the choir concert. They got to hear the fun Kuimba song though :). What a busy day!!!! Good, but busy!!
BIKES AGAIN!
We got out the bikes on Friday and took the two littles on a bike ride! FINALLY :). Erika's been wanting to do that for a while, since she learned how to ride and was finally good at it so near the end of the season last year she didn't get as many bike rides in as she'd wanted. So we rode to 7-11 got slurpees then decided we were "starving" so we grabbed some Wendy's and took it to Gailey park for a picnic. It was so much fun! And I can't believe how good Erika is at riding. She didn't need us to stop once. She's tough. Jack slept a lot of the way there, woke up at the park and played a lot with Erika. They are so cute at the park together. It's a lot of fun to watch them be "big kids" together. 3-13-15
BIKE RIDE RE-RUN
Everyone loved hearing about Erika's bike ride the day before so much that they all wanted to go on one too. Oddly enough we ended up doing the exact same thing we had done the day before :). I loved pulling up to 7-11 with Erika cheering about it and acting like it was her thing and she was showing everyone else around... way cute. We sat and drank our slurpees while Nate went and got some food at Wendy's for everyone. Gailey park was a lot of fun with the big kids! We don't get to do parks with them as much. It was a lot of fun. Charity had been on her roller blades since her bike is out of commission. It was fun to watch her hanging onto the back of the bike trailer part of the time :). Good workout for Nate maybe :). The kids seemed to love it. I enjoy those times together so much. I know those are the moments that I will miss most. Our long train of bikes stretched out along the frontage road, everyone helping each other along, pointing out obstacles and how to get around them, fighting over who gets to be in the front... or the back in some cases :). Watching Luke and Kelly get way ahead and have to stop to wait for the rest of us to catch up... I don't know how I will be able to fill that spot in my life once they grow up... hopefully something comes up. 3-14-15

So funny!
I can post about this now because I know Luke won't read it :), but he did get grounded from his tablet for it (mostly because he needs to take a break, but also because this was SO NAUGHTY!!). So we had had scriptures, prayer, even our journal time, everyone had brushed their teeth, hugged goodnight, I had changed Jack and was rocking him in his room. We had been rocking for a good half hour (with no success), I'd had to get after Noah a few times because he was making too much noise or wasn't staying in bed- whatever. I heard some noise coming from Noah's side of the room and I got after him, told him he needed to go to sleep very sternly, he was good and said, "okay" and then there was some giggling!!! All of a sudden, I realized that this was not Noah or Jack's giggles!!! It was LUKE!!! The little pill had been playing around under Noah's bed for the past half hour or so!!! He of course was supposed to be in his own bed, possibly asleep!!! Naughty naughty boy! But I gotta hand it to him, he was pretty quiet for a very long time! Sure surprised me! 1-25-15
So today I was sitting next to Jack on the couch. He was standing and I was sitting. He turned to me and rubbing his tummy said, "Ow". So I asked him if his tummy hurt and he said yes. I told him I was so sorry and asked if I could kiss it better for him. He said, "no". Then a couple of minutes went by, I think we were watching tv or something. Then all of a sudden there was Jack's cute, round belly, right next to my cheek! Jack was repeating the word, "Yeah." Like the offer was still standing and he was now going to take me up on it :). What a cutie!! It was mostly just funny that all of a sudden his belly was in my face :). But oh so cute that he wanted me to kiss it better :). I love that kid. 1-27-15
Okay, so this is going to be hard for me to describe, I know, but it was too funny to not document. So last night, Bradley was wrestling a little with Jack. They actually did a lot of funny moves, Jack was climbing up onto the couch, then jumping off almost onto Bradley, but just missing him and letting his elbow land on Bradley (I promise this kid has never watched WWF!). He would fly through the air at him too a few times. So Bradley was playing along, trying to have fun and protect himself at the same time :). Then this is the funny part- Jack whipped out his secret weapon (Apparently). He just started breathing on him :). As soon as he got in a tight spot, this quick little soft puff of air, almost like he's blowing out candles, but not even because it wasn't strong enough or long enough! So funny. I was laughing my head off. He did it over and over again. He knew it was working because the minute he puffed in Bradley's face, Bradley would fall over. So it was a pretty effective move. The serious look on his face and the way he totally paused before doing it, just made it priceless. I hope he keeps doing it- it's hilarious. 2-10-15
Jack-ism:
I'm loving some of the new things that Jack does lately. When we sit down to eat (or while I'm cooking it) he points at the food and very seriously asks, "Ew?" Like, is that gross? I tell him it's yummy, he questions me a few more times before giving it a taste. Then when he likes it, this is the funny part, he nods his head a little, gives me a cute little thumbs up, and then says, "Nummy." Like it's getting his stamp of approval :). It's so adorable. The thumbs up is my favorite part. He does that a couple times just for good measure I think.
Erika was teaching Jack how to dance today- she actually got him to swing his hips :). I loved it.
At Erika's first swim lesson Jack really wanted to get in the pool. I explained to him that he couldn't but that when he turns three he can. We talked about how he is two and that soon he will be three and then he can go in the pool and have swim lessons like Erika. So now every time we go, almost every five minutes that we are there, he turns to me and with his cute little hand holding pretty much a "four" says, "wee?" We talk about it nonstop :). Makes me laugh. He's so cute the things he latches onto.
We had to bribe Luke with candy to get him to swallow his pills... he's either going to be able to hear soon, or have more cavities...
Jack puts his cute little hand up to his face, not cupped, but just next to his mouth, when he yells for people... totally cracks me up! DAAAAAAAD!
We've been practicing a lot of words with Jack lately, mostly easy ones. He's really good at saying them when he is focusing and thinking about it. He said, "Shoe" tonight and "Fork" even attempted Ch-ar-ity. But as we were playing in the backyard, I saw a helicopter and pointed it out to him. He always responds with "Bye", like it's leaving, so I said, "That's a helicopter, Jack! Can you say HELICOPTER?" (halfway joking really), and he of course nodded his head, yes! :). What a cutie.

Things to Remember 3-1-15
BEST DAY EVER!
So, Noah had been throwing up the night before, so we decided that he should stay home from church. Since Nate had to teach the first hour, I was the one who stayed home first. I was so excited to get the text from Nate that said, "You won!!! Bishop and Stake agree that you need girls camp"! Then he proceeded to tell me that a lot of the Bishops in the Stake were getting heat from their YW leaders about no girls camp this year, so the Stake reconsidered. There's more to the story, but it was such good news! I couldn't way to get to church and talk to Jami about it! After Sacrament meeting the Bishop came over and gave me a hug and thanked me for "pushing so hard". I know it wasn't because of me, but I am so glad that it was the Spirit prompting me to talk to someone. So later on that day at the kids' Lamb of God practice, I was sitting in the foyer and President Taylor walked in. He came right over to me and asked how I was doing and why I had cancelled my appointment with him that day. I told him, I was just going to ask about Girls Camp but since I'd heard that we were going to get it afterall, I figured I'd not waste his time :). He sat down by me and proceeded to tell me how it all went down. It was so cool to me that Heavenly Father was already working on them. I had started to feel like I wasn't sustaining our Bishop by talking to the Stake President after he had already said no. It was a blessing to not have to do that. And I really loved that our Bishop had texted President Taylor regarding the whole matter even though he had given me a resounding, "No". Made me feel like he understood and didn't think I was so amusing afterall. It's so cool that it had been planned as part of the agenda for their Bishop training even before Bishop McGrath asked. This is so the Lord's work. My testimony just grew a whole bunch. Pretty cool. So yeah, we get Girls Camp!!! Every year! Only three days this year, but I can live with that. So anyway :). Life just got a little less stressful. It really was eating away at me. 3-1-15
NO FUN
I got Noah's bug on Sunday night, I could feel it coming on pretty strong. It felt a lot like morning sickness but didn't go away when I ate, so I knew it was going to be trouble. Luckily I didn't throw up (I REALLY HATE throwing up), but it did end up taking quite a while to make it's way out of my system. It was a pretty painful stomach ache for most of the night and Monday morning. Nate stayed home to help me thank goodness. I felt like garbage ALL DAY though. I think I'm still trying to recover from it even days later. Kind of crazy. We did get our "new" piano though!! I'm thrilled about that! It was free, so it's a bit of a fixer-upper, but we're going to make it work :). I might even paint it blue if I get a minute :). I can't wait to have it tuned and up and running smoothly. It's so exciting! 3-2-15
JUNIOR HIGH TAKE 2!
Kelly's registration information for KJH arrived in the mail! We're all very excited for her!! I can't believe she is going to have 10 classes!! Seems like a lot for a little 7th grader to keep track of! I'm sparing you all my thoughts on my baby girl growing up because I'm afraid it will annoy her. But seriously, my baby Kelly is growing up!!!! Can't believe it!
BIG EAR.... CANALS
Took Luke in to find out about his hearing loss. Turns out his ear drums looked fine but because his ear canals are so big the doctor had a hard time testing to find out anything else. He thinks it might be some congestion built up behind his ear drums, but we're not sure. He told us to give him some Sudafed for a week or so. If that doesn't help we have to see an audiologist, so I'm hoping for the congestion. Poor little guy. I had to tease him about his big ear (canal) problem. 3-2-15
SNOWMAN
We got dumped on with a whole lotta snow on Tuesday morning. I mean a LOT of snow! It was a little crazy. Good of course, but a little crazy. In the evening, while I was making dinner, Bradley took Jack outside to play in the snow with him. They built a cute little snowman! It was so cute! I need a picture of it before it melts, but it sure melted my heart to hear them bonding and getting all excited to show it to everyone. Cute boys. 3-2-15
DINNER
While Nate was out getting new shoes with Noah he thought of me and was going to pick up some dinner to make my life easier- such a sweetheart- so he texted me to let me know, "I'm bringing home some dinner". Luckily he did though because I had thought of him and wanted to make sure he had something yummy to eat before the mid that night and not have to stress about buying anything- so I texted him back, a happy, "It's already in the oven!" Kind of fun when we're both thinking of each other :).
3-3-15
ERIKA'S TURN
Erika got sick last night. Didn't feel good all night, finally threw up around 4:00 this morning. Kind of a bummer since it was play group day, but what can ya do. I starved her and made her not drink for most of the morning, but her begging got to be too much so I let her eat. She was fine. Hasn't had any other explosions! Amazingly. How am I ever supposed to know when I need to starve them or not! Glad she's okay though. And that it was short lived. This bug doesn't seem to be too bad for anyone- thank goodness! 3-4-15
LUNCH
Two days in a row now, Bradley has gotten up early and made everyone's lunches for me. What a sweetheart. 3-4-15
SLEEPING
The other night, Jack was being difficult and not going to sleep. I got pretty frustrated. When he finally fell asleep though, I looked down at him for a second and this peace just swept over me. Not just because I'd gotten that crazy little monkey to settle down long enough to trick him into going to sleep, but just the thought that that cute little chubby faced kid was mine. He looked so sweet and so innocent. Almost like a little baby again. It was so fun to snuggle up with him and kiss his soft little face. I love those moments. Feels like it's been a while since I let myself have one of those. Then it happened again last night, only this time with Luke. He fell asleep in the chair with Nate and the look on his little face took me back 9 years. These kids are mine. Well, for now... I'm borrowing them... and it's so cool that I get to have them and watch them grow (even if it does happen way too fast) into little people. I feel so blessed. I'm so glad I am a mom. 3-4-15
DATE NIGHT
Nate and I went to a really late showing of Unbroken on Friday night. What a cool show. Made me so grateful for all that I have. That poor guy- just when you think things can't get any worse... Cool movie. I think my favorite part of the night was our "dessert". We weren't sure where to go, but ended up at Olive Garden by the theater. So many things looked good on the menu and I wasn't in the dessert mood, so we ended up eating breadsticks and alfredo sauce, the little appetizer shrimp (mmmmm), and zeppolis :). Kind of strange, but it was a lot of fun to just eat what we felt like eating :). Not healthy in the least, but it was too late for anything to be healthy :). I loved it. I want to do it again sometime. 3-6-15
FUNNEST GAME EVER!!
Brad and Luke's game was SO much fun. They all played so good! Luke made his second shot!! Bradley made a few shots as well and made a "Gobert" block :). It was so much fun to watch. We only wished Heidi and John could have been there to see it. 3-7-15
PEACE
Our Stake Women's Conference was Saturday. I decided to squeeze it in at the last minute, in between the boys' game and taking Heidi and John to the airport. It was a really nice meeting. The theme this year is "Where Can I Turn For Peace". I love that theme. Something I realized while sitting there listening to some pretty amazing talks was that my life is full of peace. It may not be quiet or calm, but I have so much peace in it. So many things are right right now and the things that aren't are in Heavenly Father's hands. It's just such a blessing. I have felt so strongly that I need to recognize this blessing in my life and be grateful for it. I have such a good life. I have an awesome family, good friends, comfort... I could go on. It's just nice to recognize it and thank my Heavenly Father. 3-7-15

Things to Remember 2-22-15
RESURRECTION
Noah had to give a talk this Sunday. We remembered it and were even reminded of it the night before, so we were totally planning on taking care of it the night before, but something happened and we forgot clear up until it was almost time to go to church! In fact, I was trying to get us out the door ten minutes early (as per Jami's request :) ) but Noah remembered just before we left. So instead we spent the 10 minutes writing his talk. I really like to have my kids dictate their own talks for the most part. So I got him pointed in the right direction by showing him the series of pictures of Christ being crucified and then resurrected with Mary outside the tomb. He decided he wanted to talk about the one with Mary and the tomb, but then when I asked him to tell me about it, he started clear back at the guy getting his ear cut off. I was going to leave it off, but then I heard him tying Christ healing His disciple's ear into how Christ will heal us and has made it possible for us to be resurrected and whole again. I thought it was perfect at the moment! The more I explain it to people the less it fits, but I was proud of Noah for getting into it at least. So we quickly typed up a talk for him in his own words. I wish he'd had some time to practice, but whatever- it was really the best we could do. He did great. Didn't manage to hold up his picture during the talk ever, but who cares :). 2-22-15
OFF
I was off again at church. I don't know how to get over those feelings. This week I realized it might just be the lack of food while I'm there. I think my body is calling all the shots these days. It's really hard to get my spirit in line when my body is off. I'm going to have to do something about that I think. I can't spend every Sunday mad at the world. Here's a weird one: Nate took Jack out just before the end of the last talk and during the closing song, thanks to Charity, I remembered he was supposed to give the closing prayer, so I sent Kelly out to remind him. I guess he got the reminder and even remembered himself without my help, but didn't realize the song only had 3 verses. So when he didn't come in after the last note of the last verse, I decided I should probably get up and say the prayer for him. I wasn't sure, but it made sense. As I was walking up there he came in through the close door and I motioned for him to go up and say it and he motioned for me to and left!!! I was SO TICKED!!!! I HATE! I repeat, HATE! going up in front of the ward. I don't know what it is, but it does not feel good. I was shaking, could hardly speak, I know only half of what I said made sense, and I was almost crying!!! UGH!! So I was bugged. These crazy hormones only make it worse too. So anyway. Kinda weird that that played such a huge role in the crappy mood that followed until I was able to kneel down and ask for help. I hate feeling like that. I've got to get on it sooner I think. 2-22-15
GIRLS CAMP- OR WHATEVER IT IS GOING TO BE CALLED
We just found out we only get 1 night, 2 days for a Girls camp that can't be called "Girl's Camp". I'm dying. It juts kills me that our Stake/ward doesn't do Girl's Camp every year. I really want to do something about it, but I'm torn because I know it's good to be supportive and sustain my leaders as well. But ugh. I'm dying. Seriously. 2-22-15
PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA
Brent called me last night to tell me his discovery. This is the name of the thing we might have wrong with our bodies. We have this weird problem where our heart will suddenly just beat really fast and it makes us short of breath and difficulty speaking, takes a little while to run it's course and then it will go away mostly on it's own. It's the weirdest thing, but just something we've dealt with for decades. I had no idea it could actually have a name :). We don't really think that's what it is, but it's still fun to read about and wonder. I might get tested for it someday... we'll see. But I had a great time chatting with Brent. 2-22-15
CRAZINESS
This is the word to describe my morning. I had to get up, shower, read scriptures, figure out the produce order, order it, get breakfast and lunches made, get 7 kids ready for school, take Charity at 7:45, then finish with the morning before sending off Brad and Luke on their bikes, and then driving Noah and Kelly to the school. Kelly grabbed her notebook and then she and I drove up to Layton to set up her Science Fair project! I raced back home (stopping at McD's because Erika hadn't eaten any breakfast), to go visiting teaching. All before 9:30!!! Maybe it doesn't sound like much to anyone else, but it was crazy! I'm tired. I did manage to clean up a little do some laundry and dishes before finally sitting down here to blog about it all :). Crazy crazy. Time to do another load of laundry and dishes before lunch and then running off to get Kelly and then go to Charity's spelling bee! 2-23-15
DISTRICT SCIENCE FAIR
I hope I mentioned this before, but Kelly was one of three students to win the school science fair and go on to the District level. Today was the big day (which was a surprise since the first we had heard about it was in an email sent Saturday!). We drove her up to the Davis Conference Center up by Layton Hills Mall early in the morning to set up her board. She had to miss school for it all day (well she went back for the last 30 minutes with her celebratory frosty in her hand because that's just how Kelly rolls). When you hear her talk about it you hear the words, "It was so long and boring and took ALL DAY!!" But if you listen to the tone in her voice you would think she was talking about a day at an amusement park! So I'm not exactly sure how she felt about it all. She did talk specifically about her judges. Her first judge was REALLY NICE. She praised her a lot for how well she did on her board and presentation. But two of the other judges were what I would call JERKS! One of them told her she "talked too fast" to which we decided Kelly should have come back with, "IIIIIIIIIIII'mmmmmmmmmmmmmm ssssssssoooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssss beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttteeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr?" Ya know, really slowly :). We got a good laugh. Another judge, who wasn't even judging her, after the judging was over, took time out of her busy schedule to stop by Kelly and tell her that she "spelled deceive wrong". Huh. Good to know. More like ANNOYING!!!!!!! She handled the unwanted, unnecessary criticism well though :). Kelly's a tough girl. If you ask her about the science fair, however, the first thing she will tell you, and this was the best part, is that she got to see Trisha, Cole, Charsty, Sophia, and someone else whose name is not coming to me. That was pretty thrilling for her. Some old friends from Holbrook. Trisha was one of her favorites! So that was pretty darn awesome. She also made friends with the girl next to her, Nicole. Too bad she didn't get her number. Maybe she'll run into her next year, who knows. I'm so proud of Kelly and glad she got to participate in this and have that experience. She's too cool.
2-23-15
KJH SPELLING BEE
Charity signed up to participate in the school spelling bee. I was proud of her. When it's optional like that you have to really want it. And she did. She's been practicing the words like crazy along with all her other homework. She did so well! It wasn't until the 8th round her so that she got out. The same time as someone else. They had to battle it out for 4th and 5th place because there were prizes. She won the spell-off and got 4th place. $5.00 and a $5 gift card to Fiiz. Pretty cool stuff. She did great. I would tell you which word she got out on but I keep spelling it wrong :) haha.... I'll check with her tomorrow. Fun stuff. We had to stop at Fiiz on our... out of the way home :). 2-23-15
FHE
I talk about friendship. I got it from the Friend and as always, I wish I'd just done something of my own. Hopefully something sunk in. DQ for the treat- thanks Brad! 2-23-15
PRODUCE
I ordered a pretty amazing basket this week- I was pretty proud of it :). And more strawberries! Can't wait to make some jam. My mom took Erika to swimming lessons for me, that was nice too. 2-24-15
CHILI'S
Emily, Lisa and I all went to Chili's on Tuesday night. It was such a nice break from life. I enjoy their company. I wish our skillet cookie had been yummier though... left me wanting a F'zookie! I'm sograteful for good neighbors and especially my good friends. I really don't know what I would do without them and the knowledge that they are always there. It's a good feeling. 2-24-15
SPACE
So I didn't keep very good tabs on my calendar on Wednesday. I forgot about visiting teaching until I got the text from Debbie when I got out of the shower. Unfortunately I got it 15 min after she sent it. So I raced up to Diane's with my wet hair, hoping Nate was okay with hosting play group for a minute. I didn't feel like I could leave 10 minutes later, so I stayed at Diane's too long. Got back to Play group around 11:00. I felt bad, but not as bad as I would have felt if I'd offended Diane. SO hopefully nobody cared. Then later in the afternoon I spaced Jack's Doctor visit (this would be like the 3rd time I've forgotten about his follow up check up), his appointment was at 1:00, I looked at my calendar at 1:20, but got the crazy idea to just go and be late. We showed up around 2:15 at PCMC, and they still let us in!! Amazing. Jack didn't love it, but it was kind of nice to see the final x-ray of his broken arm and know that things are perfectly fine now. You couldn't even see all the new bone growth anymore, it was already healed over. Cool. 2-25-15
BROOM HOCKEY
I LOVED our activity this week! It was so much fun! Broom Hockey! Who knew it was so fun! I really got into it (turned purple and sweat enough for everyone), it was a lot of fun. I think it was good exercise because I was sore afterward. 2-25-15
LAST GAME
Our last YW basketball game was well attended. I wish we could have won, but they played so good and so hard! I was proud of them! We only had five, so they had to play straight through. Mahala was there coaching them from the sidelines because she wasn't feeling real great. I loved watching them play this year. It's been a lot of fun for me. I think this particular game was Savanna's best :). She was hilarious. "Oh my!" 2-26-15
INTERSTELLAR
Nate and I went to see Interstellar last night. Cool movie. I really liked it. I wish it had ended differently, but all was well. It was a nice time out with my sweetie too. 2-26-15
TOO TIRED
I think staying up late was the first step in the wrong direction. But then I couldn't sleep very well with Nate and Jack up all night (poor Nate got thrown up on), I really shouldn't complain, considering, but I didn't sleep well. It was difficult to get up so I slept in a little and much to my dismay, it happened again. I was nauseated most of the day. And SO exhausted! I hardly left the couch. Embarrassing. I did do quite a bit of laundry, but it took me a good hour to motivate myself to start, each time a new load was done. Just a really tired day! Nate had the great idea to walk to the school to get the kids, I wanted to go with, it was great, but when we got home, I crashed on the couch. I hate being dead when the kids get home. Nobody did their jobs. Kind of a bummer. Oh well. The day before (since I forgot to mention) I got up right on time, and felt mostly good most of the day, so Friday was alright since the day before had been nice. I'm learning. I really do need to get enough sleep! Not just NOT sleeping in. I'll get it. 2-27-15
13 WEEKS
Still hanging in there :). Waiting for the nausea to subside, but not getting my hopes up too high. I keep wondering if I should tell my YW President that I am going to be useless at the Superactivity in August. I just don't want them writing me off as a complete waste of space until then. We'll see. I told Brent and Sarah when I was talking to him the other day, he was nice and Sarah was excited, so that was fun. I love telling people who are happy about it :). I'm really getting anxious to meet this baby. I keep thinking I know the gender, but I don't want to say anything :). No new symptoms. Life is good. 2-28-15
JAM
My Mom and Heidi came over to make strawberry jam with me on Saturday. I wish I'd been better prepared like I'd pictured in my mind, but as always, my kitchen was a wreck and I was scrambling for clean utensils and measuring cups the whole time. Thankfully though, all the big stuff was clean thanks to my sweet husband. I was telling Heidi, he had been doing dishes for a good hour and a half that day and there was still a sink-full of dishes afterwards. Goes to show you how full it was to begin with! The smell kills me when it gets to be a day old and then I can't stand there without gagging the whole time. So anyway. We made quite a few batches of jam. It was fun! I think I'm going to get another flat or two this week and make some more. It's such a good deal! 8lbs for $6.75!! John watched Big Hero 6 with the kids while we jammed. Heidi, John and my Mom also came to both basketball games. The boys did great, winning 36-15. Then at Charity's game the other team only had one girl show up and so they just let a bunch of the kids that were there scrimmage with her against our team. It was actually kind of fun to watch. Kelly and Bradley were both involved and seemed to be having lots of fun. 2-28-15
