here's a picture of Erika's deathly diaper rash. Sorry if it hurts you to look at it. I just have to have this picture for later. She's had some bad luck with antibiotics, well, bad luck with the ear infections first, but some really bad luck with the antibiotics as well. This rash followed her 2nd ear infection (in both ears) and was next to impossible to get rid of until they prescribed the special compound cream. It was miraculous!!!! Took only 2 days to get rid of it!! I was impressed to say the least. Well, a few weeks later she got yet another ear infection thus more antibiotics. The doctor suggested we start with the special cream and probiotics immediately to keep it from getting so bad again. Well, turns out I was almost out of the special cream (that for some reason I had thought I would never have to use again), so we called to get the refill. Unfortunately the Pharmacy that we had to use to get this special compound has a policy that you have to give them 3 days notice on refills. They told Nate it would be done Monday (this was on a Saturday) at the soonest. So I was patient.... did what I could with the rash until then (nothing really helped).... watched it get red.... finally Monday came and I couldn't take it any more so I called to see if the cream was done. Of course it wasn't and they said that since we gave it to them on Saturday it wouldn't be done till Tuesday. I was freaking out! You would think one day wouldn't be a big deal, but it WAS! Her poor little bumb! So I started begging. I couldn't get them to budge but I learned that if it was a knew prescription they could do it taht day. Which makes sense since the first time I got it it only took them 15 minutes to make it. So I went through the loop hole and called the Dr.'s office and asked them to call in a new prescription. So a couple of hours later I called them back to see if I could come get that (sort of trying to pretend like this was a new idea).... apparently they stuck it with the other one and considered it a refill. UGH!!! I was annoyed at this point and got a little more hostile with them. I still can't figure out why they were so stubborn. It was a new ear infection, new antibiotics, and new rash! I needed new cream!! At one point the Manager had the nerve to tell me that I "should have had some left over from the last bottle" (basically 3 days worth so that I could give them their three days) but in my defense, I had no idea I would even need the cream again until that day. Anyway.... I eventually got them to see it my way.... they were jerks about it, but did what I wanted. So when Nate got there to pick it up they gave him this tiny little bottle of it (about a quarter of what they had given me before) all the while telling me that this bottle was a ten day supply (how can they even know how many times I change this little baby's diahrea diapers??). It was SOOOOOO frustrating. They were funny with Nate because when he saw how small the bottle was he said, "okay so I'll be here to pick up that other prescription of it tomorrow". They got all annoyed and said that he was picking up that one, to which he argued that we had had TWO separate prescriptions for the stuff, we wanted both. They argued that the insurance probably wouldn't let us do that to which Nate said, "I've got my card, their number, let's call and ask." .......... They were stunned but agreed. And of course it was perfectly fine with the insurance. How funny is that! I laugh when I think about it. So then he said, "you might as well get started on another refill". And they were all confused thinking that that wouldn't work and that we needed to call for the refill when we were "almost done" with the cream. He held up the bottle and said, "we are almost done with this little thing". They were so lame about it. Just dragging their feet the whole way! It was so frustrating because we were totally just trying to take care of our little baby. Okay so the funniest part of this story. Nate went back in to get the second jar of it (this stuff is like $9 a bottle, the big one we got the first time was a mistake on their part and should have cost me $30, so I thank them for that). While he was in line he received the picture I had sent him of Erika's bumb rash (the picture you see here), earlier in the day. When he saw what it was he decided to show it to the pharmacist that was helping him. She was absolutely blown away! She called everyone else over and the manager guy who had been a complete jerk to me even saw it and couldn't believe it! They all scrambled and he suggested that they give us a much larger bottle of the stuff. "She needs more than that!" they said. I find it so funny that until they see the rash themselves they couldn't just take my word for it. That my saying how bad it was and needing a SPECIAL compound for the thing was not enough for them to sacrifice 15 minutes of their time to make her prescription. So silly. I'm sure if I had gone in there and whipped off her diaper any person in that store would have said, "let her go first!" It irritates me thinking about it. So I'll be done. Just wanted to document this crazy rash.
This is the cake we got my dad for his Graduation. Such a cool thing he did! He's and Executive MBA now!
I just think it's cute to watch little miniature people using big people things.... Noah loves the vacuum and always asks if he can help :) So cute.
