As many of you know, and have heard me obsess over, my awesome little red baby died last week, and the hunt for a new camera began. I've wanted an slr for quite some time now, but could never really afford it or justify buying one. Well, this time it was in the budget. I am blessed to have a brother and sister-in-law who are in the photography business. This weekend they let me test drive their little rebel. I say "little" because it's tiny compared to their amazing, huge, expensive, professional one. I went over to their house Saturday night for a tutorial on slr cameras. Brent is an amazing teacher. I still think he should have been a Seminary teacher. But anyway, he showed me how to use it and sent me on my way with his rebel, the bag, and 2 pages of instructions.
I spent all weekend playing with this camera and the functions, but it only took me one day to be sold on it!! My new Rebel is on it's way and will be here tomorrow, thanks to my dad (he has some VIP connections with Amazon or something so he gets super fast shipping). I'm SO excited about it!!! I know I'm going to want more lenses for it, but for now, I will be using Brent's old one. He thanked me for taking it off his hands :) Apparently I'm not picky enough yet because I LOVE how the pictures look!! I did enjoy his prime lens, and that will probably be my next splurgy splurge, but until then....
So these are the pictures I've been taking all weekend. Keep in mind that I am a beginner.... a very beginner, and I need practice. Please feel free to offer suggestions.... I'm not overly sensitive about it yet :) so take the opportunity now before I get that way :)
This one was cropped, just curious how well it would do. But I think it was too noisy to begin with..... still, I love her face :) Cute faces make up for blurriness in my book :)
I only keep this one because of her cute double chin :)
I am SOOOOOOO pleased with how well this blurs the background!!! I think this may have been with the prime lens, but either way..... and I LOVE the vivid colors.

this is when my dad came down and told me to shoot in Auto rather than Manual..... the opposite of what Brent had said :) LOL..... I like both so far.
And this is the winner for my most favorite picture of all!!! If you zoom in you can see all her cute little tears... the poor little girl has not been a happy camper for many of these pictures.... but look at that cute mouth!!!!

This might be weird to some of you, but this picture just makes me SOOOOO happy!!! I've never had a camera that could take pictures of things without washing them out or having glares..... this just excites me! Kelly and I went through the whole toy basket just taking pictures of each thing and then getting all excited about how clear and perfect it all looked :) I LOVE IT!!!
and now you can see her beautiful eyelashes!
these brick walls will be really fun to play with in photoshop once I learn how to do that.....
here's another fascination for me.... BUGS!!!! I can take pictures of bugs now!!!!!! Never before.

this didn't turn out the way I had hoped, but it was cute of Steve to take Nana some M&M's to leave on her grave.
this is funny because I hurried and took a picture of "these pretty flowers" on the grave next to Nana's, didn't think much of it but when I got home I realized (thanks to the amazing quality of this camera) that they were FAKE!!!! So funny. You could see individual threads.... do I sound like an idiot obsessing over every little detail of this camera??? well, it's COOL!!!

Sarah, if you've made it this far, this is for you :) This was SOOOOO funny!!!!!! I had asked Noah to get a tissue for Charlie to wipe his (own) nose, and at the same time Bradley was helping him take his shoes off to play on the wii board.... It looked so funny!!! He looked like he was being pampered and tortured at the same time :) He smiled the whole time though for some reason.... not sure what to think I guess.... they sure love him! I can't get over the look on both his and Noah's faces when Noah realized he'd just touched Charlie's boogers!!!! Classic!! Anyway.... had to take a picture of it :)
Charlie was on here for a matter of milliseconds (just long enough for me to snap a picture) before the boys had him doing something else, thus making him feel like whatever it was, it couldn't be worth all the fuss :) He went back in to play with the toys :)
So anyway.... I'm excited to get my camera.... hopefully you don't all delete my blog from your list right away :) But I'm sure there will be more than enough pictures of EVERYTHING.... including more bugs and toys.... can't help it.
