Pictures from A Fair Extraordinaire
This was the girls' little dance they put together with a few of their friends in the ward. Some of them were in their little dance camp this summer. I think I mentioned this before, but Sister Hill in our ward had been scouting out talent and came to their dance camp recital. She was so impressed with it that she asked them to do a number for the Stake Fair. The girls were beyond ecstatic! I couldn't believe how much time they spent practicing this dance. The dedication!!! They were so good, we were all so proud of them!
Someone there saw their talent and thought they'd all be perfect for the little skit that was put on a little later... cute girls. They just love the spotlight!

Journaling week of 11-3-13
SAVANNAH'S BLESSING
We had the privilege of attending Savannah's blessing on Sunday. I LOVED that we got to be there. I know it sounds silly, but I thought Brent did a really great job on her blessing. The Spirit was strong. I guess that's what I mean to say. I loved the things he said, made me feel like I was getting to know their little girl. She really has a sweet little spirit. You can tell that she likes things her way :). I love that about her. She doesn't mess around either, if she's not happy- you know :). Reminds me of some of my kids. I'm curious to see what she is like later. It was fun to visit with everyone afterwards. Then on the way home, we had to break the sabbath by getting gas. I was trying so hard not to because I wanted to teach my kids that we can be blessed when we keep the commandments, but Heavenly Father wanted me to teach my kids that we need to be prepared for the Sabbath day in order to keep it holy. And that we did. Thankfully I had some helpers, Brent and his gas and can, Mom and Simon and their willingness to help out. It was an eventful little half hour of me begging the car to make it to the gas station, then stopping across Main from it. Running around in high heels and a dress- in the dark, and wishing I'd just let Nate fill it up that afternoon when he realized the empty tank. Oh well. Live and learn. My kids seemed slightly disappointed in me. But I do however, need to mention that our prayer. to get to the blessing. on time. and in one piece. without running out of gas. was answered. And we were very thankful for that. Even remembered to tell Heavenly Father. So it wasn't all bad. Did we learn our lesson though? Absolutely. I will do better next time. 11-3-13
PLAY GROUP AT OUR HOUSE AGAIN!!
yep. And I did the same dumb thing with cleaning my house. Not sure why I didn't learn my lesson. 11-4-13
FHE
Jack chose to go see Planes for FHE. We had a blast! Loved the movie, but it was lacking in creativity if you ask me. But the kids LOVED it! Good times. We stopped to get Kelly's free donuts that she won with her carved pumpkin at school. I don't even know if I mentioned that!! She won first place in all of the 5th grade pumpkins!! Free 1 dozen donuts for us!!! Cool girl! I'm glad she participated! 11-4-13
SINGING TIME
So at Music Makers this month, I am in charge of singing time! It was totally stressing me out for some reason. I was really nervous to do it. But all went well. We sang all of the cute little Thanksgiving and Fall songs that I had found on the blog. The kids seemed to enjoy it enough. I was juggling Jack and all the props and such, so that was a little nuts, but I received a very nice compliment from one of the Moms, so that made it all better :). 3 more times :) 11-5-13
THE SHELF DATE
So Nate and I got to go on another "date" where we went and picked up a shelf for Heidi, up in Layton, and then took it down to her apartment. I love spending time with my sweetie when we get to just sit and talk. It's so nice. Refreshing. We had a great time. Heidi gave me a cute C cup and a new cover for my phone too :) so nice added bonus! I think she liked the shelf too :) So that was good. 11-5-13
SMOKED RIBS
Nate's latest hobby is feeding people his smoked meats :). This week it was Heidi and John, and he made smoked ribs. It's been a lot of fun for Nate to receive such raving feedback from so many admirers. He really does a great job!! John always makes a big deal about it too, so that's fun :) And it's a good excuse to have them over every once in a while :). We went to DQ afterwards. That was a lot of fun too, though I don't know how much everyone else in teh place enjoyed our enjoyment :). Good times. 11-7-13
PIZZA
We went up to Grandpa Hatch's Friday night. The kids have asked several times in the last few months, why we don't eat pizza at Grandpa's house anymore :). I thought it was mostly funny, but I think it got around, this week, that's exactly what we ate! It was a fun evening, Cheaper By The Dozen on TV, Grandpa reading to Erika, kids fighting over the ipads, Dawn spoiling us with all her goodies... Wished Nate was there though. Or Steve and Jauslin. But it was a lot of fun. 11-8-13

Journaling week of 10-27-13
PRIMARY PROGRAM
This Sunday was our Primary Program. My most favorite Sacrament meeting of all! My kids all had huge parts and then each kid was part of a musical number as well! It was a lot of fun. Preparation started about a week before when the kids realized at practices that other kids had their parts memorized. This meant they needed to too :). So we worked on most of them for a few days and then they had them down! I was surprised to learn that Erika had partcipated when they practiced and had said her part in the microphone. She is usually pretty shy, but she had been so brave! Unfortunately, her bravery left her when her legs were "too tired" to go up their for the actual thing. Kind of the downside to having Sacrament meeting last. She sat on my lap through the whole thing. I was a little bummed, but I totally understand! Her part was cute, she was supposed to say, "My name is Erika, I am a child of God." Then her class were the ones to perform the first verse of the first song, "I Am A Child of God". She is in a class with four rowdy little boys, so needless to say, this was a very entertaining song! I had several people tell me that they didn't blame Erika at all for not wanting to be up there singing with those "hoodlums" :). She actually likes the boys, I think she has a good time with them, so I don't think that's why she didn't go up there, but it was funny anyway :). I think she felt bad that she didn't go up there because at the end of the meeting she didn't want to go home. Threw a huge fit actually and didn't calm down until Deana offered to let her come home with Cassidy (her "big sister" in the ward). That made everything better. We saw her when we got home :).
Noah's part was a scripture, which he memorized all by himself. "The Spirit itself beareth witness with my Spirit that we are the children of God." Romans 8:16. I was so proud him :). He made a new fan, Richelle Pearce in the ward fell in love with him when he was giving his part :). She keeps telling me every week that she just thinks he's something special :). Cute stuff. He got to sing with his class too, but now I can't think what song it was. He was so cute, knew all the words, and was so serious through most of it.
Luke's part was a scripture too, he memorized his without any help from me. I can't even think what the words of it are right now. D&C 43:34 (or 34:43- I'll have to ask him). He did a great job too! I loved watching his facial expressions during all the singing :). He was adorable!
Bradley's part was about his baptism. He did a good job, and then got to participate in the song "Heavenly Father Loves Me" with Charity and Kelly, doing the sign language they had learned in our old ward. So cool! You could tell he didn't know it all as well as the girls, but how brave of him to get up there and do it with them!! THey're such good examples to each other and to their younger siblings. I love it.
Kelly got to write a one minute talk about Family Home Evening and how it strengthens our family. I should get a copy of it and put it on here. She did a great job! Made us look good :). I loved what she said and that she wanted scripture in it. She's such a spiritual giant. It's evident when she speaks. The spirit is so strong. I love that about Kelly.
Charity was asked to give a one minute talk as well. Hers was about how she had received an answer to her prayers. She told the story about when she prayed for help with the Hoop Shoot. I was so amazed that she had remembered that, and chosen to speak about it. It was the perfect example. I love that she knows how to give talks. She even memorized hers! Did an awesome job for her last Primary Program.
I was SO PROUD of all of my kids!! This is the last time all six of them will be in the program together. In fact, I don't think we'll ever have 6 kids in one program ever again. (course technically we didn't this time either since Erika didn't want to go up there... but anyway) Crazy stuff. My kids are growing up! We were blessed to have many supporters out in the audience. I had texted everyone at the last minute and most of them came! Aunt Jen, Aunt Heidi and John, Grandma and Simon, Grandpa and Dawn. Pretty good turn out! They all came over to our Sunday-destroyed-house afterwards. I was a little embarrassed, but whatever. It was fun still :). Heidi and John stayed for Lasagna and craziness all afternoon :). Overall it was a pretty nice day. 10-27-13

The only reason I wanted to write about it was to say that I hate it when I clean my whole house, or an area of my house that I think people will see, and they don't see it!! Drives me nuts :). Only because I have to cram and do it right before like a crazy person. I wish I could just be okay with messiness. 10-28-13
FHE
Nate taught about parables and symbolism. The kids all shared a "parable" from their own lives. I love teaching them to translate life into spiritual lessons. It's been a focus lately. For Kelly's treat we went out for ice cream :). 10-28-13
BLAINE SMITH
So for the last couple of months our ward has been serving Blaine Smith, a member of the ward who was recently diagnosed with Lung cancer. It's been a really neat experience for our family. He had mentioned to his wife that he was sad he was going to miss Christmas (since the life expectancy was only 2 more months at the most), and so she got out their tree, had the missionaries put up their lights, and they, as a family were going to celebrate Christmas. Well, when the Bishop heard about this, he started a chain reaction with the ward members. Everyone was suggested to put up their lights to support him and give him Christmas. They even planned a ward caroling activity during October :). We had missed that one, but our kids felt so left out that Kelly planned an FHE shortly after, where we went caroling to their house, just us. What a spiritual experience that ended up being! Little awkward since we don't know them, but very cool. Then, the news came and recorded teh ward doing yet another caroling activity. That was cool. We were there for that. Anyway. The whole thing ended this week, when Brother Smith passed away. It was sad and we didn't even know him! We were so grateful for the opportunity to be part of the magic of Christmas in October. PACK FARM- NOAH'S FIRST FIELD TRIP
Noah got to go on his first field trip Wednesday. He was so proud of himself :). I so wish I could have been there with him, but it was fun to hear about. Here's what he had to say:
"So... I went in a maze... I got a punkin... I took a picture on the truck... and someone read us a story. And a really fun part was riding in a bus!!"
Such a cute thing to me that half of the fun of the field trips, is the riding in the bus part :) Doesn't even matter where you go :). He was beaming when he came home. I loved it :).
HEIDI'S BIRTHDAY PARTY
We wanted to something cool for Heidi's 30th birthday, so we invited her to go bowling. She and John played along with our Girls vs. Boys teams. I think the boys won. But either way, we had a so much fun!!! I LOVED how well everyone got along the whole time! They were cheering for each other, even for opposing teammates, high fives, everyone took turns entertaining Jack Jack, it was just heavenly! I think Heidi and John had a good time too :). After bowling we came back to our place for the delicious Chocolate cake I had made Heidi. It was SO GOOD!!! If I do say so myself. I went a little heavy on the frosting though, I could tell when I was cleaning up, every plate had a chunk of frosting leftover. But SO GOOD!! Then, as per Heidi's request, we turned the family room into a dance floor!! Turned the music up loud, the lights down low, got out the glow sticks (even cut some of them open and sprinkled glowiness all over the room :)), it was a LOT of fun!! I couldn't believe how into it EVERYONE got! Even Nate and Jack were dancing a little :). I was so happy that we got to spend that day with Heidi. My kids loved it too :). 10-23-13
HELPING HEIDI MOVE
This was only journal worthy because it was so much fun :). Nate and I left the kids with my Mom so that we could fit things in our car, and went down to Heidi's to help her move. It was like a date night (or day... whatever)! We had a lot of fun! We loaded up her moving truck, stopped in Lehi to get her new couch that she doesn't really like, that we might buy from her, and then made a stop at Ikea to get me some shelves. We decided we couldn't go to Ikea without having some yummy meatballs :). I LOVED spending time with Heidi and John with just us and them. Nothing against my kids, it was just really meaningful and productive for me :). After lunch, we headed on up to her new place. I got the tour. I really like her new place. It's going to be so nice for her to not have roommates... in my opinion. We slowly unloaded the truck (clearly we are all getting old or something because it was hard!). It was difficult to make the furniture fit down the stairs, too, that was challenging. But all in good fun, because we were all laughing and smiling most of the time. It was nice that Brent showed up at the end. Mostly because we liked seeing him :). there were like 3 things left when he got there :). But anyway. Good times! I love it when it's someone else that is moving, not me :). 10-26-13
MAYNES FAMILY HALLOWEEN PARTY
Everyone always looks forward to this tracition. The Maynes party. This year, Becky was in charge of planning it and she went all out! There were little booths put on by the big kids, for all the little kids to go around and play games, photo booth, face painting, a donut decorating contest, the list goes on. We all had a great time with those. Then we ate a yummy chili dinner, and found out who won the donut decorating. Of course Nate won a pumpkin for his. Charity and Kelly loved being part of the planning and carrying out of this party. It was a really fun activity for all of us! 10-26-13
