Luke's 11th Birthday!

Luke's Candy Cake- This thing is a structural miracle!  Pretty fun to make and I was so proud of myself for finishing it the day before!  That never happens.  Gives me cavities just looking at it though.

Luke's Reese's Cupcake Cupcakes :). These ended up being REALLY easy and even YUMMIER than expected.  Chocolate cake with Peanut butter frosting.  Reese's peanut butter cups on top!  I renamed them "Reese's Overload Cupcakes" since they were VERY Reese's-ly rich!

LUKE'S BIRTHDAY
Luke was SO anxious for his birthday this year!  Much like the past he had a hard time sleeping the night before, sleep walking all over the place.  We had our new laminated birthday sign up and sang happy birthday to him when he woke up.  It was a funny morning for the rest of the kids- I guess Molly and Jack had woken everyone up pretty early.  Just strange.  But everyone was happy for Luke.  Nate surprised him with his Texas donut and I made his favorite, crepes, for breakfast.  It was a nice morning.  I always hate to have to take birthday kids to school.  This was no different.  But we did have plans to go to lunch, so it was slightly easier.  We went to Pizza Pie Cafe for his lunch.  I love that he loves this and has such a great time with his mom and dad (and little sibs).  He's a sweetheart.  He giggled about Molly 95% of the time :).  We got him back to school in time to pass out his donuts to his class and then came home.

His party started at 4:00, the friends came- Clint, Trenton and Boston- he only wanted three friends :).  We went to Boondocks and blew way too much money on the arcades.  Then spent about a half hour deliberating (and trying to not get frustrated with the faulty system they were using to do the tickets- everything was seriously going haywire) over the prizes and finally settling on things.

Then grabbed some pizza and came home for dinner, presents (which surprisingly ended up ALL being NERF guns!), Reese's overload cupcakes, ice cream, candy cake and a the movie Storks!  Grandpa Hatch joined us for this part of the party.  It was so nice to have him here and be able to visit with him a lot.  That hasn't happened in a long time.
Took us three times longer to open presents because Luke kept guessing wrong :).

I am so glad Luke has Clint these days.  He's been a real great friend.

Trenton was the life of the party and kept us all giggling.

"birthday noogies!"

(I just can't resist- look at how great the lighting is in these pictures!!!  The actual lighting was not HALF this good!!!  It's like re-writing history! K, I'm done.)

Noah's gift to Luke is going to be taking him to the movie of his choice!  Fun brother.

I guess he did want the gel pens afterall :).  Cool kid.

Molly was so off that day!  Not a happy camper at ALL!

He's leading us in singing to him :).

This was the strangest blowing out of the candles I've witnessed.  He tried from this distance for a while...

Then got closer...

Then backed WAY up for the very last flame... funny boy.

We missed getting a picture of Luke and Boston earlier.  I wish these two would hang out more often.  I think they'd like each other a lot.

We wimped out and got Drumsticks since there weren't going to be too many guests :).  mmmmm Drumsticks!

It was so funny when Boston's mom showed up with his present and there it was- a FOURTH NERF GUN!!  HAHAHAHAHA!!!  I think Luke may have learned his lesson about telling people what he wants for his birthday :).

One more photo op before everyone leaves!

These boys were so much fun!  I was worried it would be lame and boring with so few (because I"m a more is merrier kind of girl), but it was great!  I was so happy for Luke.  He really seemed to enjoy himself.
Oh and Liam!  That cute little boy!  He loves Luke so much he wanted to give him a present so we invited him back for cupcakes and movie when we got home :).  Such a cute little guy.

We need a gun case.

Ask me how many tries it took to get this shot :).  See the bullet?

Luke had a lot of fun with his friends.  It was fun to spoil Luke.  He is always so gracious and grateful.  I just love my Lukey.  He's such a good, fun friend to me.  Sure he has his moments where I want to ring his little neck because he's whispering loudly, sweet NOTHINGS into my ear, but most of the time he's just a fun little monkey.  Luke is very into all things brainy.  If it requires thinking he likes it.  He's pretty good at things that require thinking too.  He loves basketball and is really good at it this year.  He likes to be with his family and loves making people laugh and smile.  He is a pro at it.  He is turning into an amazing artist, still loves crafts and drawing.  He is a great student, really well-behaved in class.  He's the best four square player I've ever heard of.  He doesn't love to eat unless it's candy or pizza.  He enjoys sleeping in.  Luke is the toughest sensitive kid and the most sensitive tough kid.  He would do anything for his little sisters.  He makes his mom happy on a daily basis.  He is probably the kid who gets along with the most siblings.  He really fills an important role in our home.  It would be weird to think about life without him.  I don't want to.  I love Luke.  I hope he had a great day!  Can't believe he's 11.

We'd saved Luke's last present from us til the evening after everyone else was in bed.  It was his new CTR ring.  He's been wanting to replace his old one for a really long time, so this was a pleasant surprise!  It was so cute to hear him gasp when he saw what it was :).  Such a sweetheart.  I'll never forget how faithfully he wore that first little gold and green one he got as a new CTR kid :).  I just love his love of what's right.  He really is so innocent and humble.  2-3-17

Edits (it's been a while!)

Can you tell I couldn't settle on a black and white...

Random Pictures... yep, More of them

We took these ones to show Molly, when she's older, how she used to show us where her nose is...

Always a good little wipe with her "booger wiper" when she's done jamming her finger up it.

I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but I am so grateful for the relationship these two have formed.  Of course all the credit goes to Charity for now, but what a bond!!  It's so sweet!  If I wasn't so in love with the idea of these two being friends for life (irregardless of their age difference), I might be really jealous!  Molly LOVES Charity.  Her little eyes just light up when Charity comes in the room.  It's the cutest thing.  And actually that goes both ways.  No matter how grumpy or whiny Molly is being (which thankfully isn't very often :) ), Charity will talk sweet to her, offer her things, pick her up and take her up to her room to play, offer to give her a bath... you name it.  She's such a sweet big sister and Molly adores her!  I love it.

Nate and I went on our January date!  We went to As You Wish at Station Park and painted ceramics.  I don't know why I didn't get a picture of my cute scentsy burner that I painted, but this is Nate's cute cookie jar!  So cute!  I should have gotten more angles of it.  I was just sitting on the couch taking random pictures of everything around the room, so not intentionally to display his awesome handiwork.  Maybe I'll have to get some more.  That was a really fun night!  I'm so glad I braved the creativity of it and we were able to do something different :).

The beautiful flowers Nate brought home to me!  Sweet huh!

This is one of Kelly's 3D art projects.  I love it!

And another one!  So cool!  This one is made out of nylons!!

How beautiful is THIS!  Our entryway without the shoe-shelf-coats-backpacks-socks-and-everything-else-that-ended-up-in-a-huge-pile-taking-up-3/4-of-our-entryway MESS!!!  It's such a nice refreshing change!!  And I really haven't noticed shoes around the house!  I think we had that for me, because I absolutely hate having to go all the way upstairs to take off or put on my shoes... I will adjust :).

Look at these eyes!!!  So cute!
