Noah's Ninth Birthday!

NOAH'S BIG DAY!
Kelly made Noah's sign the morning of because she'd dozed off the night before after begging to make it.  So I let her.  Turned out pretty cute :).  Noah liked it :).  He came down looking like a new nine year old :).  It was so cute.  I sang to him and made his favorite, crepes, for breakfast.  He was excited to go to school and pass out Hershey's Kisses as his treat (guess donuts are not the cool thing anymore- hallelujiah!!).  While he was at school I made his cool little Ninja cake.  This was a really easy cake that I made more difficult by wanting to use my new air brush on it.  Still- it was one of the less time consuming cakes I've made in a long time, and was a lot of fun.  I hope he liked it.
Once school was out we had to hurry to finish cleaning up the house, pick up kids, and rush off to Dart Side for Noah's friend party.  This ended up being a LOT of fun for the boys!  It was almost an exclusive party if it hadn't been for a boy and his mom and then later another boy and mom couple.  I had a lot of fun taking pictures of them through the glass in the viewing area- I'll show off how awesome my camera is by posting these pictures!  The lighting was super dim in the room they were in, not to mention I was in a dark room with glass between them and me!  So pretty miraculous that I got the pictures I did!  I had no idea I could go up to 16000 ISO!  Pretty sweet.

The boys were so fun and were pretty easy to get out to the car and home (you never know with this group!).  They were all such good boys the whole time, minus a few little issues with Jacob- that kid is a serious piece of work! Still pretty funny though.  Everyone was so quiet!  Almost too quiet when we came home for cupcakes and ice cream :).

It's been interesting to be ward members with McKay now.  I think they've taken a little adjusting to that, but overall- it's been such a fun thing for Noah to have a good friend in his Primary class and basketball team.  These two are too adorable.

This was a total Kelly move- closing the eyes while you're opening the gift... funny boy.

These are the pictures that are going to take me back when my kids are gone.  I love a good pillow over the face so you can guess who's giving you the present :).

This friendship is a funny one.  Jacob is hilarious.  I'm glad Noah tries to put up with him, I think he usually has good intentions.

Good ol' Josh :).  I just love Josh for Noah.  He's such a good solid friend.  I'm so glad we have Josh.

Noah talks about James like he's the coolest kid on the planet and just LOVES all that they have in common.  I'm so glad he has him for a friend and has enjoyed this year so much with him.

I never did get a picture of my Oreo ninja cupcakes.  I wish I'd done those differently, but whatever.

Kelly wrapped up her idea for Noah's date- to go test fries and shakes at three different fast food places :).  Fun sister.

If only I'd held my homemade stencil just a little closer to the fondant- his name could have looked perfect!

I was worried they weren't having enough fun.

 It didn't take long to prepare for the next party- Grandpa Hatch came early to keep us company :).  We had a really great turnout!  Heidi and John came for the first time in about a year.  Grandma Hatch and Simon, and even STEVE made an appearance!!  It was a lot of fun.

It was feeling pretty slow, and quiet, so I suggested Pictionary.  I'm glad someone heard me after the 10th time or so of saying it... Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves during that.

We had Noah's Ninja cake and Ice cream and called it a night :). Grandpa and Steve had a lot of fun with Noah's Nerf guns.

It was a lot of fun to watch my dad playing with the kids.  He was having the time of his life :).  Feels like it's been a while.  They were having a pretty good time too :).

These two played Slap Jack for quite a while, and I thought it was super cute, but the way they said goodbye to each other (or didn't, rather) made us think maybe it wasn't such a friendly game of Slap Jack afterall :).  

 I felt bad that I'd planned it on a Wednesday because Nate, Charity, Kelly and Bradley were unable to attend because of Mutual, and they were all bummed that everyone left as they arrived, but it was the only night that would work!  We're trying to keep our birthdays to one day these days.  It's just easier that way.  But I think Noah had a good time!  He seemed so mature that day.  Just really composed.

 I love that little guy, Noah.  When I think about when he was born it's like I can feel that peace all over again.  He was SUCH a peaceful little baby.  So calm, so chill.  He really was just SO easy too!  It was fun to have him fit the name that Nate had liked for him.  He is still pretty calm, but he does have this fun little mysterious side to him :).  Especially lately with all his magic and inventions.  He is so creative.  He can turn anything into something amazing.  I love to hear his ideas and wonder when he will make it big with one of them :).  He's such a sweet boy and so sensitive.  He takes things very seriously and very personally.  He tries so hard to be nice to those around him.  I think he's one of the most loyal 9 year olds I know.  He is a good friend and really good at making friends.  I love that he thinks of his friends and wants them to be happy.  I'm also glad that he is not afraid to be himself and doesn't give into the things he knows he's not supposed to do.  I love his Spirit and his testimony is at a level that I hope to reach myself someday.  So much faith.  And so simple at the same time.  He is so brave and so willing to bear his testimony and does so regularly.  He is developing a love for the scriptures.  I love hearing about what he has been reading and knowing that he studies on his own and is working hard in that area of his life.  He's taught me how to visualize the scriptures better.  I am so glad he is in our family.  Everyone loves Noah and feels his love.  It's hard not to.  Here's to another great year with this incredible little boy!  1-11-17
