Sleepy heads

This has never been a very common occurrence in our house- most of our kids could not fall asleep in adverse conditions.  So when this does happen, we have to have a picture and document it :).  Coincidentally, we do have a lot of pictures like this over the years :).  Molly is a different kid of course, and has been a remarkably better sleeper in ALL areas compared to our other kids, but she still hasn't done much of this.  She found her soft blankie or "bee" and fell fast asleep in probably the highest traffic area in our house besides right in front of the fridge!  (Buddy probably beat her to it!)  She must have been pretty tired!  Cute little girl.  2-7-17

She and Nate end up like this most days :).  I love it.  I LOVE how much this girl loves her daddy.  She squeals when he comes in the door she loves him so much!  It's so stinkin' cute.  This was the day Molly was throwing up at the tire place.  We thought maybe she was just teething or something.  Silly parents.  2-9-17

Birthday Date with Emily

BIRTHDAY DATE WITH EMILY
Emily planned this amazing birthday gift for me- and this was not an easy task!  She took me to Bennion Craft for a painting class!!  It was SO MUCH FUN!!  I've always seen these classes and figured it was way above me and my abilities, but I felt pretty competent the whole time!  I mean, I was nervous with each new step and worried I'd screw it up, but I was actually really happy with my finished product! It's not horrible at all :).  It was a lot of fun to spend that time with Emily too.  She is of course a very talented artist so I tried not to compare my work to hers, but she was very gracious and encouraging.  She's amazing.  And such a great friend.  I can't wait to do the next class together :).  Still need to upload the picture I took of mine.  2-11-17
I really love how my tree turned out- especially the heart.  If I could go back, I'd redo drawing my barn!  I totally did that part wrong.  It's not too noticeable- just extra critical I guess.

Things to Remember Week of 2-5-17

AHHHH
So I did the unthinkable and deep cleaned Noah and Jack's room on Sunday.  I know that's not a Sunday activity, but it was killing me and I couldn't see an end in sight.  I promised myself I would not be angry while I was doing it and I was calling it a "service" to justify doing it on Sunday, so I didn't ask for a whole lot of help from anyone else.  We canNOT let it get like that again!  (I know, I say this every time).  Sure felt nice when it was done though.  I feel like it's hard for me to feel the Spirit when the house is a wreck.  Even in the dark corners of the bedrooms, it's just so refreshing to have it all clean.  I rearranged the room a little, moving Jack's bed and the dressers.  They loved that.  Jack kept thanking me and telling me he "I love my new room!"  Such a sweetheart!  I think I forget how much help kids that age need with their bedrooms.  I felt bad when I saw that the girls had worked on theirs too.  I don't want to pass on my bad behavior.  2-5-17

AGAIN AHHHH
Cleaned up Molly and Erika's room Monday.  Feels so much better in there now too!  Theirs wasn't near as bad as the boys, but that's probably because of Jack and his friends.  And Molly doesn't really know how to make real messes yet :).  I am slowly making my way through the house.  2-6-17

ICE CREAM
Got to hang out with Emily Monday.  Felt so good.  She really is like therapy for me.  I wish I was better at setting things up and planning, I'd definitely hang out with friends more.  Jack wasn't a big fan of me eating his ice cream cone so that he could go play.  Had to drag the kid out of the place.  Not my favorite.  But I do love Jack's little apologies.  He is always so good to say, "I sorry 'bout I was acting. I promise I am not going do that again."  Love that kid :).  2-6-17

FHE
Kelly did the coolest lesson about trials.  She had several object lessons.  The one that stood out the most to me was the one where she told the kids to try jumping without bending their knees.  Then when that was pretty hard she let them bend their knees.  What a great way to represent that you have to be brought low before you can go higher.  Very cool.  We had Drumsticks for the treat- Luke's choice- apparently we're not sick of those yet :).  Jack was very excited to be the scribe, so we might see more about that later :).  2-6-17

LICE
We did our second round of chemicals Monday night.  Felt like we should have done them sooner, but it said 7-10 days and this was 8, so we'll see how it goes.  I'm hoping the ones that have hatched since the first treatment didn't mature enough to lay more eggs.  I also read that head can repel them, so I think we'll be doing more blow drying and curling/flat ironing.  I was feeling very discouraged and low Monday night about all of this, Definitely not as overwhelmed, but looking forward to an end!  2-6-17

CLEANINGS
I took most of the kids to the dentist today!  We finally have a denstist that we like and are going to be good/better about cleanings and stuff.  So today was great- we only have two with cavities!  The rest were cavity-free!  Hopefully this can be a new trend.  Jack did AWESOME!  2-7-17

WACKY WEDNESDAY
These last couple weeks with my working out at 9:00, things have been.... different.  I'm trying to convince myself that I can get up at 5:00 (the old usual) and do the things I would have done between 9:00 and 10:30 (which is how long it takes me to work out and then shower), because as it is, I am missing out on that hour and a half!!  It's costing me because that was the only time of day I was able to really get any housework done most days.  And now, because I'm exhausted when I work out, I haven't been able to do a lot afterwards.  I know things might change a little, with time, but anyway- I feel the need to try to figure this out.  So anyway- this Wednesday was funny and this whole thing contributed.  When I went out to take the kids to school, the car started, but then putted to a stop- it was out of gas.  So I took the kids in Nate's car, came home thinking there was a full gas can here to use, then found out there wasn't :).  So when I took the little kids, thanks to Nate for sitting with Molly and Jack, I took his car with the empty gas can, went and filled it up, which took WAY too long because the lid was so weird.  Then I drove the kids to school, came home, filled up the suburban and then, thanks to Nate again, I was able to leave Molly and Jack here with him while I went to the church to work out.  That was nice.  I needed a WHOLE work out.  Then when I came home and showered, Nate and Molly were asleep!  So Jack and I rushed off to Playgroup.  Then onto my PTA meeting thinking that if Molly woke up, Nate would get up with her.  But of course, he didn't.  When I got home from my 2 hour meeting!!! (usually not that long) Molly was standing up in her bed, everything on the floor next to it, crying and fussing.  I felt so bad!!  I hope she wasn't alone for too long.  Glad she was okay though.  Not sure how that happened.  But anyway.  My morning and half of my afternoon were gone!  It was crazy.  I spent the rest of my afternoon at the Orthodontist with Charity and Kelly getting spacers and a consultation respectively.  Poor Charity's mouth!  She is in a lot of pain, hopefully it doesn't last the full three days that they said.  And Kelly! she's got quite the road ahead of her with extractions and such... should be interesting.  I came home and totally crashed.  I had been fighting the pain from my cramps all day and I think my full workout just knocked me out!  I had to drag myself around to get a few things done in the evening, and lice combing, but other than that.... not a day I want to re-run.  But Happy Birthday to Nana!  I had some M&Ms in her honor.  2-8-17

FOOD PANTRY
We finally made it to the Food Pantry with my Mom this week.  After we got mistaken as people who were there to receive assistance, they walked us into the back room where we were instructed how to assemble bags of snacks/breakfasts.lunches for kids whose parents work and don't have enough food to eat on the weekends.  Kinda crazy to think about it and made me really grateful that I am able to stay home with my kids.  What would I do without that blessing.  So at first they had us grab a bag and then walk down the line of bins and put one of each in the bag.  This was a lot of fun because Jack and I were working together and we had a lot of fun thinking about the kid who was going to receive that bag and what they might like and think was yummy.  It was cute to see Jack thinking about things and being so thoughtful about the stranger who might get his bag.  After we did a bunch that way they had us switch to doing an assembly line where we pass the bag down the line and each of us does one thing for each bag.  This was, of course, much quicker and more productive.  We got tons done really fast.  I loved Jack's slam dunk with each package of cookies he put in the bag :).  So cute.  It really was a neat experience and hopefully the kids realize what good they did.  I would love to spend more time doing stuff like this on a regular basis.  We missed Charity and Kelly, they had basketball.  Good times.  2-9-17

THIS DAY DID NOT WANT ME TO WORKOUT
Felt like this day was against me.  I missed waking up early to get in a little work out before Insanity and then when I was trying to console myself saying at least I have Insanity, I realized I needed to go do Literary Circles with Erika's class (which I love, I just had forgotten about it).  THEN when we got home I wanted to go on a walk, but Jack did not, so I talked him into a bike ride.  He insisted on riding in the trailer, which wasn't my favorite idea, and then I couldn't get the bike pump to work!  So I rode on with a low trailer tire, which ended up being pretty flat by the time we got going and REALLY set me back!!  I guess this was how I got a real workout in though, now that I think about it.  If it weren't for that flat tire it might have been too easy.  I even had to pedal while going DOWN HILL!!  That's how bad it was.  Kinda nuts.  I was pretty exhausted at the end, but anyway.  I have got to get myself back to waking up early!  I miss it!!  2-10-17

BIRTHDAY TABLES WITH LUKE
Little Caesar's and Pizza Pie Cafe need to move closer to each other.  We had a great time with Luke though :).  It's always fun to spend a few minutes together in the middle of the school day.  2-10-17

WE WERE DUE
I think I said something the other day about us having not been sick in a while- this is what usually happens of course.  Molly started it at the tire store.  Jack and I at Steve's party.  Then Erika, around midnight Friday night, came running into my room in a panic and lost it all over my bathroom.  She and I both didn't sleep much that night- she was up several times and the rest of the time, we were just waiting for her to be up.  Jack joined her in my room.  We all kept waking each other up.  Saturday was the day to sit around and wait for everyone else to get sick.  Poor Noah was okay until the last two minutes of his basketball game, then barfed out the car door at Betos (I'm told) while Nate was picking up lunch for everyone.  Poor guy.  But he did win his game!!  Of course the one I miss- they win!  I'll try not to take it too personally.  While we were all sitting here on the couch, Bradley filled a large mixing bowl, kind of out of nowhere... I didn't realize he was to that point.  Nor did I realize his stomach capacity was such that it was.  Kind of impressive... maybe.  So Kelly, Nate, Charity and Luke have all had turns feeling not the best, but none of them has had a turn with the real heavy stuff.  I'd say yet, but I think that would jinx them.  Tough little immune systems!  We'll see how it ends.  2-11-17

Edits

Which style do we like best for basketball photos??

Basketball 2017

Finally remembered the camera!  Got lots of really cook shots!  And thanks to my awesome camera they turned out halfway decent!

What would she do without her favorite Charity!

Kelly's so good on defense!

And fouling :).

Post-buzzer thumb-sucking comfort.

This might be the last year these two are on the same team... almost makes me sad!

High action photo with Luke and Bradley!  This is when I switched to Sport mode.

This wasn't Bradley's best game by any means, but I did love that he kept on trying!  No matter how many shots he missed, he just kept on going up!  Made me proud of him!  He really is one of the best on his team, so it's okay to say that this wasn't his best game.  He still made most of their points.

Pre fouling stage- he gets fouled EVERY TIME he goes up.  These refs only called one of them.  So unfortunate.  Last week they actually called most of them, which was pretty unheard of!  The good players don't get that kind of leeway.

This was right before that kid guarding him tripped him!

This is Bradley's famous lay-up.  Kelly's named it that and talks about how it only looks cool when Bradley does it :).

Now for some shots of Luke.  He is our BEST defender, by far!  Sets up screens, totally bounces around the court like a buzzed squirrel and just stays on anyone who poses a threat :).

Look at that!  DE-FENSE!

Luke made a couple of really awesome steals too.

During Bradley's two minute break...

Luke has gotten really aggressive these last couple games. It's fun to watch him play and get into it again.

I just love seeing my two boys in this picture together.  Makes my heart happy.

This one too.

There it is :).

Go in, go in...

But of course I missed the second where it went through the hoop!

No fear!

Nice one Bradley!

Um... I see someone grabbing Bradley's jersey!

Here he goes, passing it to Bridger!  What a cool kid!  Even though he could just dominate the whole court- he still shares the ball!  That's my boy!

And Bridger made it!  Great assist!

Luke snatches the ball...

Then passes it to Brad...

Brad dribbles, shoots, SCORES!!  Go Maynes boys!!!

Luke's on it!

Great defense!

Luke is so agile.

Another one for Brad.
