THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD
Charity, Kelly and Erika finally sang in Grandma Hatch's ward. This has been a long time coming with many practices and much anticipation. Course I totally spaced when it was until a few days before. I don't know how I did that, but it was not on my radar at all. Just the girls and I drove down there since Grandma's ward is the same time as ours, the boys all went to our ward- Bradley had been worried about missing out on passing the Sacrament and I think it just seemed less of a hassle to not drag everyone down to a different ward. We're big on consistency. But I got to go hear the girls sing. They did so good! It was so much fun to see three of my girls all singing together with such great voices. I couldn't help but picture Grandma and Grandpa Mottishaw sitting there in THEIR ward, watching them and loving it as well. There were even two empty spots right in front of me. They were totally there. I bet there were some fans in the crowd since we've become pretty much regulars in that ward. We did have to leave right after so we could get back in time for Primary. But that was a fun experience for the girls. 5-21-17
SCRIPTURE TIME ON SUNDAYS
So for the past six or seven months (not really sure how long) we've turned scripture time on Sundays into a talk about what you learned today time. It happened on accident one week, where we got distracted talking about things and got carried away in it, and then realized it was a great way to discuss the things the kids were learning and maybe reinforce them a little more. I love it! They have gotten really good at listening so that they can share detailed experiences. I've really loved hearing all that they are being taught. Helps me to remind them of things and help them apply what they learn. So these past couple weeks even Jack has gotten really involved. He has been listening so well in his class he has been able to retell the stories from his lesson with so much detail! It's so cool! I just love that he is getting so much out of it! He reminds me a little of how Steve was when he was little with the remembering of names and details of scripture stories. It's kind of cool. I hope he keeps it up :). He taught us about Laman and Lemuel tying up their brother Nephi and told us how it's bad to tie up your brother. Cool kid. 5-22-17
MOANA WITH NOAH
Noah and I got to walk to the Kaysville Theater together (well, I only walked 2/3 of the way since I was a little late after dropping off Jack and Molly at Grandma's house), to see Moana for his fun field trip! That was a really fun time with Noah. I love those fun field trips where I get to sit back and relax and watch a show :). 5-22-17
SIMON'S RETIREMENT DINNER
My mom invited us all to dinner to celebrate Simon retiring (even though he is just going to start back working while collecting pension in two weeks). It was a lot of fun to be with everyone! We realized we were all there and were able to take the family picture my mom was wanting before the Hatches leave. I loved watching Steve do his impersonations of Grandpa Mottishaw- brought back a lot of fond memories. And of course Steve's opera singing was a good ab workout. It was really a lot of fun to be together. 5-22-17
PACK MEETING
We had our roasting S'mores pack meeting- I thought it went way better than I could have expected. It was a fun evening talking with friends. 5-23-17
MAGICIAN
Noah has been working overtime on his magic tricks all week so that he can perform them for his class talent show :). He really is getting pretty good at the slight of hand! I almost can't tell what he's doing and I've seen the tricks a million times! Cool kid. 5-25-17
VOTE FOR LUKE
Luke decided to run for Student Council for next year! I'm so proud of him and his initiative! He had to write a speech (not sure why they called it a skit this year- they wouldn't let them use ANY props at all- so it was basically a speech) and did it all by himself, using the L in his name he pointed out some of his good qualities and what would make him a good student council member... very cool. I hope he makes it! 5-25-17
MATH AND SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
This was such a big week for Brad and Luke! Bradley was also chosen to participate in the Math and Science Olympiad this year. And it happened to be the day after the Decathlon. Nate, Molly, Jack and I drove Bradley up to Central Davis Junior High and mostly sat and waited :). Luckily Emily was there to keep us company :). We got to watch Bradley compete in his two events- the raingutter regatta and the Mystery Architecture. He did so well in both events we thought he was going to place, but unfortunately there was no win for Bradley this year. This is always such a cool experience for the kids though and something to get them out of the hum drum of school, so I'm always happy for them. Bradley did great and made us proud. 5-25-17
PICNIC ON THE PLAYGROUND
This is such a fun tradition. I love that we have this every year. I was also glad we tried something besides pizza. We did grab our usual Oreo pizza, but Dairy Queen chicken strip baskets were the main course. I love rounding everyone up and getting us all in one spot for a few minutes, talking a little about the day for a few minutes while we stuff our faces, even Charity and Kelly joined us this year. This year, this ended with loading our stuff back up to walk over to where all our friends were sitting and starting over, but we had a great time. The kids all ran off and played basketball, four square and frisbee (losing Nate's new one on the roof of the school :( ). I got to talk to Jami a little about running club and PTA. It was a good afternoon. 5-26-17
DATE WITH DAN AND ADELE
We got to go on our date with Dan and Adele this week. Adele met up with us here, we all drove down to Red Iguana and met up with Dan. I really liked that place! Nate schmoozed us some Mole samples which was awesome. That Mango Enchilada was well worth the way too many calories it was. It was fun to talk with them- they are so fun. 5-26-17
HAIR CUT
Friday evening Kelly wanted to go get a trim, so I took her and while we were there I decided I really needed to do something with my hair so I had them chop it all off. I didn't love the cut when I got home, so Saturday morning, first thing, I went back and had them fix it. I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but I think it's better than freakishly long. 5-27-17
GARDEN
We worked on the garden spot this weekend! It's finally ready for soil and then planting! I'm so glad Nate let us jumpstart this project and even though we want to do the stone work and everything- I'm glad we can at least have a garden this year. Bradley and I planted the stuff Barbara gave me and hopefully we can get the rest planted this coming week. 5-27-17
SIMON'S DAUGHTER
We were invited to my Mom's on Saturday night for pizza with Simon and his friends and family to welcome his daughter Heidi. It was... interesting. A little awkward, minus the fact that Steve was there entertaining us all. It was fun to be with him. The kids had a good time too. I did get to talk to Heidi a little about her most recent findings with the Nerve doctor and Allergist. Doesn't sound too good. I hope she can get things figured out soon. 5-27-17
