ERIKA'S BIRTHDAY
She did it! She turned EIGHT!!! Blows me away! This day felt so far away not too long ago! We're pretty excited for her though. I think she is too :). She had a fun day, woke up to the sign that Luke and Kelly had slaved over the night before. Got in her flag shirt for the Veteran's Day assembly/observance. I spent most of the day making her cake which turned out to be a VERY fun cake to make! I loved it! Time just flew by and before I knew it, I had missed bringing a treat to Erika's class (boo!!) and picking them up! They walked through the door shortly after I looked at the clock for the first time in a few hours. She got to play with Kate for a little while and then her party started!
Erika designed this cake herself using ideas from other cakes we found on pinterest. I loved it!! It was so much fun! I could do this one a million times again. I loved doing the pencils the most :).

She invited her four closest friends, Kate, Morgan, Lexie and Megan but then Morgan was not able to come which was a total bummer!! We went down to Station Park for As You Wish Pottery painting. They seemed to really enjoy that. I was glad. Erika and I had a pretty funny run in with a bottle of paint. I was squeezing it to get some paint out of the pin sized hole and surprised us both when the lid popped off and shot the paint across the room! Luckily, and Erika was the one to point this out, she had moved over a few inches right before (like RIGHT before... milliseconds before!) out of the way of the paint. Pretty funny. It was fun to have Kelly there too, and she was very helpful with the girls. They were so fun to listen to, talking about how they were doing things, complimenting each other and just acting like big girls- so cute! We finished and came back for jumping on the tramp, presents (I know, I hate doing presents first, but the dinner was still in the oven), dinner- some chicken strips and fries (thought pizza was a bad idea for Erika and wanted to branch out, but I'm afraid we had some dissatisfied party guests because of it), cake and ice cream, and Chinese jump rope! It was a pretty fun evening. We were all bummed when Kate had to leave early, but it was nice that she was even able to come with her parents out of town. It was a very mellow evening, with a bunch of mellow girls, but I think they had a lot of fun :). Erika was happy. After the party we all went to see Leap at the dollar theater. (Well, Nate and Brad went and watched Spider Man and Charity was at her opening night of her play!) The movie was adorable. I only had to take Molly out about a handful of times, and then at the end when she started yelling out "MINE! MINE!" over and over, just to get me to take her out. Little pill. Fun though. When we got home we read scriptures and told Erika what we love about her. Love this tradition. And then went to bed. It was a full, fun day! 11-10-17
