"You are not here to live a mediocre to average life; you are here to live an amazing life, a miraculous life. If it weren't for your challenges, there would be no miracles. NOVEMBER 2024

DAY AFTER HALLOWEEN- NO SCHOOL- LAGOON!!!

Friday could not have come sooner!  I mean, we literally waited til the last possible day to go to Lagoon! Our Get Out Passes that we bought solely for the Lagoon passes didn't work on the Saturday we planned. I am just glad we made it, though.  It was a bit rough at first, trying to decide which rides to go on- Jack, Molly and Sadie weren't feeling very adventurous, so we tried a few things.  Noah, Erika, Jack and I went on the airplanes- the ones that go upsidedown- I was proud of Jack for trying this one out, but he didn't love it.  There was a little bit of a struggle with his insulin and then he was also freezing, so we will cut him some slack, but overall, he wasn't thrilled to be there.  Molly and Sadie eventually came around and by the end of the night even went on the Ferris Wheel with Nate, Noah and Erika.  We loved that Kelly and Devan joined us after an hour or so.  They brought some new energy to the party.  We ended up going on lots of rides and trying to eat some food before Jack maxxed out.  He really was just too cold.  He should have worn a winter coat.  Not sure if it was the low blood sugar he was experiencing or just an off day, but I ended up taking him home.  We had some corn dogs when we got home.  Everyone else stayed and it sounded like they had a fun time without us.  I love that Molly braved Bombora and they both just kept on going til it was time for me to pick them up!  Super fun.  Had to grab some hot chocolate on the way home.  11-1-24

EMAIL FROM BRAD- Life is good
Okkkk my dear friends whats up?? This week Satan just kept trying to throw brick walls at us but we managed to keep grinding the whole week. I seriously love this work more than anything. I heard next year they might be splitting the mission so we shall see what happens👀👀

Monday we had Pday. We introduced the Latinos to all our backyard games and campout games. Mostly just young womens camp games because young mens we just throw rocks and destroy nature. Here there aint much of that nature stuff hahahahaha.

Tuesday: we had the baptism of our buddy Lian! He's a super cool kid and he brought his entire super catholic family! His older brother is a recent convert but other than that they're all very proud devout catholics sorta. Now we just need to help him keep asisting and have a responsibility in the church.

Wednesday: We were in interviews and they were sooo hype. President is so cool and it was probably the best interviews Ive had with him. We talked for probably 30 minutes about our run to the temple and then he said some crazy stuff to me that just stressed me out, and then we talked more about what we should do with the zones because we're gonna join them all together again and make them big zones. After that there were some German kids playing basketball and so obviously I had to contact them. They were super dope and we have another lesson on Wednesday. All I'm saying is that a baptism of 3 germans in a little Peruvian pueblo would be tje coolest thing. It's amazing how no matter where you are you can find the Lord's servants. The only problem is they don't know a whole ton of English or Spanish Hahahahah.

Thursday Friday Saturday: worked my butt off and everything canceled. We had some rough moments crying for 2 minutes and then getting up and running to the next lesson. It gets pretty defeating sometimes and that's when you have to really search for the Lords hand. When you gotta dig deap. I have 3 songs that I like to sing super loud when stuff gets hard because the power of your words are insane. We got
#1. Onward Christian Soldiers
#2. Put your shoulder to the Wheel
#3. My favorite by far, Grandma Odey classic, Dig a Little Deeper

Sunday: we had a lot of friends show up to church!! We finally are getting back into getting a lot of people attending church. It was a hard start but we are starting to see so many fruits of our labors🙏🥹 we finally had the baptism of Danica. It was supposed to be a baptism for the 2 of them but the mom needs to figure some stuff out. But the primary presidency came in so clutch and planned everything for us which was pretty cool. We also had a huge miracle, a family of 3 came to church and asked how they can become members. Miracles like thag only happen in Peru but they're just such cool miracles🥲

Spiritual thought: The weeks where I have worked the hardest where Satan fights the hardest. Its pretty weird how he does that. I decided it's a good way to help my zone because Satan is busy fighting Elder Maynes and forgets to fight the other misionaries in the zone😎 jk not sure he works like that. But still... Anyways guys just know that the best is to come when the hardest is now. Don't take your foot off the gas. Just go all the way because the best is yet to come. Jesus is on the way.

I'll send fotos later

EMAIL FROM LUKE- Temple Trip
Good morning everyone, I hope you guys all had an awesome Halloween. This week was pretty good. Here's some stuff that happened this week:

A recent convert named David got his endowment this week and he invited us to go with him. David is awesome. He loves the church so much and he was so excited to go through the temple. I am so glad we got to go with him because the temple is outside of our mission so I really won't be able to go very often while I'm here. We also forgot to make an appointment so it was super lucky that they had enough spots for us. I also got to see my mtc companion again because his comp was the one who baptized David and they got to come with us.

We had exchanges this week and I went with elder Cox. Elder cox has only been put for a transfer, but he's suuuuch a good missionary already. He's a Spanish missionary and he's proof that the gift of tongues is for real cuz he's already really fluent as far as I could tell. Exchanges with the Spanish elders are always fun cuz I have no clue what anyone is saying most of the time. I got to go to English class, because the Spanish elders teach it and I helped this guy named Alfredo pronounce a bunch of words and he helped me pronounce them in spanish. It was pretty fun.

We had some good lessons this week with our friends. Unfortunately none of them showed up to church this week. Our friend Michael is progressing pretty good but he's been slowing down recently for some reason. So remember Michael in your prayers plzzzz

Spiritual thought:

A super awesome quote from the talk Kingdoms of glory by Dallin H. Oaks
Go read the rest of his talk it's super good.

"The Apostle Paul taught that the Lord’s teachings and commandments were given that we may all attain “the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” That process requires far more than acquiring knowledge. It is not even enough to be convinced of the gospel; we must act so that we are converted by it. In contrast to other preaching, which teaches us to know something, the gospel of Jesus Christ challenges us to become something."

Super awesome quote right there. We can't just learn the gospel, we have to act on what we learn. It's not enough just to know who Christ is and what he did, we have to become like him by following his example. Becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ requires hard work and effort. It is a life long persuit. If we want to become like the savior, we have to start now. Not tomorrow, not any other day, but right now. If we are willing to give ourselves to God and submit to His will, He will bless us and magnify our efforts and we will become who He needs us to become.

Hope yall have an awesome week!

THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION- RECEIVING CLERK
I had the opportunity to work at the polling location this year.  Not sure if it was a good opportunity or not.  Still deciding.  We had to be there bright and early- well actually it was still very dark!- at 6:00 at the Kaysville Library.  We were in charge of setting up our stations with the iPads and then got to work setting up the booths.  I needed a little refresher of how to do the stuff, it had been a couple weeks since training, but I was able to catch on quickly.  It was a pretty long day.  I was surprised at how many people came through.  I had brought some food for snacking, but I didn't really get as much time to eat it as I thought I would.  I was sitting with some people who made me feel weird about my pbj and any other carbs I chose to eat- kinda random- I was able to make some friends in Danni and Sean? maybe? I can't remember his name!  HAHA!  Anyway.  It was an interesting experience.  We were not allowed to leave the building until it was completely over and the provisional ballots were counted which ended up being around 9:00.  This was great since we had had some problems with the printers and at one point had a line long enough that if we hadn't gotten a new wifi for the printer would have lasted well into the night- probably midnight!  So we were happy to be going home when we were.  It was so nice of Nate to bring me some food and then my mom was so thoughtful and brought some cookies to share with everyone as well.  Super cool of her.  I didn't hate this for some reason, but I don't know if I would do it again.  I am really thankful Nate was able to stay home a bit in the morning to get the kids off to school and then pick them all up too.  He really made it all possible.  In the end we hopefully have a four year break from the Left wing nonsense- Trump won!  We'll see if he's actually put in in January.  11-5-24

JACK'S FOLLOW-UP APPOINTMENT
We had really looked forward to this appointment, wondering how it was going to go.  Not sure it lived up to the hype, but it was good.  I had gotten Jack's numbers in a really good spot and for some reason PA Valerie wanted to change it a little which seemed to throw us all off again- kind of annoying- but I moved things back.  They did bring out the pumps for us to look at which was nice- we had been wanting the Omnipod, but seeing how big it is and knowing it is going to be something huge stuck to Jack, we chose not to do that one.  He had settled on the T-slim at this appointment- we liked the touch screen.  It was good to think we could get going with that.  They sent in a social worker who I think might have gotten more out of Jack if he hadn't been bored out of his mind for the past hour.  Kind of a long appointment for him.  But I think it was mostly good.  We're going to get this.  11-6-24

CHILI AND PIE NIGHT
This was a big hit.  I think we got all the pie night and all the chili night people all at once.  Kinda fun.  I got to talk with Amber about pumps and then sat by Emily and talked missionaries and Type 1 for the rest of the night.  It was a good one.  If only I'd made time to make the oreo pie- I was really wanting some of that.  Nate's chili turned out amazing though.  I was happy I picked it.  11-6-24

ERIKA'S FAMILY PARTY
Saturday was the big day.  We decided on chair soccer and gaga ball at the church before coming back home for some Panda Express and Ice Cream cake!  This was a really fun idea! Charity and Hunter and Kelly and Devan made it down even.  I loved that my dad came and then the Taylors.  My mom and Simon came as well and spectated.  It was a lot of fun.  I only wish Jack had been in better spirits the whole time.  Panda was kind of dumb and almost brought the old food too soon, but we fixed that.  It was a good time.  I think Erika liked it.  She was good and spoiled with gifts and love after.  Good times.   11-8-24

ERIKA'S 15th BIRTHDAY!
Kelly, Molly, Sadie and I made the most incredible sign :).  Then I spoiled her with crepes for breakfast.  We were able to give her one gift before church- a white hoodie- which she loved.  Then went to church.  Erika had signed up to teach combined YW on her birthday which I just think is so cool.  Her lesson went well.  It was a pretty chill afternoon.  We gave her a few more gifts.  Then it was time for the family meeting/dinner and pie night at Grandma Ruthie's.  This ended up being a lot of fun.  I was glad Devan and Kelly and Charity and Hunter made it.  Grandma Ruthie gave birthday gift bags to the boyfriends and girlfriends there so Devan got one.  He said a beautiful testimony about the flosser being like Christ.  I was proud of him for not being too nervous!  We got to congratulate Austin and Aubrey- they are engaged finally :).  We ate yummy sandwiches and then lots of pie after.  We brought two Oreo pies, not sure why I made two, but one was completely gone and the other didn't get touched.  Maybe an experiment because the one that was eaten had whole oreos on top and the other one just crumbs.... hmmm.  We scurried out of there when Brad called (an hour earlier for us, with Daylight savings).  But I think it was a fun way to spend Erika's birthday.  She's 15!!  Mind blown.  11-9-24

PUMP ORDERED!
I was able to do the "packet" within minutes of the doctor appointment (they made this sound like it was going to take weeks to accomplish) so I was able to pass my quiz and get signed up to order by Monday!  Pretty exciting.  We were able to talk to a sales rep about the T-slim and the new Mobi and actually changed our minds and settled on the Mobi.  It's lighter was the main reason.  But being able to control it with his phone will probably be nice too.  We're just anxious to get going with any pump, so this was a happy day!  11-10-24

EMAIL FROM LUKE-
What is up everyone, I hope yall had an awesome week. This week was good, I'm getting more used to the work and I'm learning to love it more and more each day.

Monday was p day and we went to bucees. Bucees is basically a huge gas station and they have a bunch of then around here.

Tuesday was one of the most stressful days of the mission so far, but it ended up being a super good day. We did exchanges and I ended up running my area with another greenie. We were also on bikes the whole day and lemme tell ya, my area is not meant to be a biking area. We had a couple lessons that day and most of them fell through and all of our plans were just not working out. We unintentionally got into a bash with someone while knocking doors, basically the first half of the day was roughhhh. We rode by this family out front and we decided to go back and talk to them and they were super nice. They were really interested in the church and the Book of Mormon, so hopefully we can go back and teach them some more. The rest of the evening was good. We visited a member family right as they were doing their "nightly routine", so they invited us in and we sung some primary songs with them hahaha.

Wednesday and thursday were just normal days, nothing special

Friday we knocked into this non member and she immediately shook our hands and invited us inside and totally caught us off gaurd. We weren't allowed to go into her house cuz she and her kids were the only ones home, but we're meeting with her again this week and she seemed super excited.

Saturday we were in a sketchy trailer park and we found a lady who had 7 kids, they were super nice and gave us a metal pole in case any dogs came at us, I think we're gonna try to visit them again and get them to church. We also gave a blessing to an inactive member, she is having a toughhh time rn, we were trying to explain why church was important but I don't think she quite understood. Hopefully we can get her to church next week.

Sunday was stake conference and our mission president and his wife came and gave some fire talks about members and missionary work. So all of you guys should go study preach my gospel.

Spiritual thought:
Mosia 3:19
For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father

Sorry no pics this week, I'll try to take more pictures. Love yall

COSTA VIDA NIGHT
This has become a fun tradition.  Looked a little differently this year- we didn't get over there until 7:00ish.  Mr. Flynn had come by on the Friday before and bought some of Nate's meat, so we new he was back in New York so he wasn't there either.  We did see a few people we know and we got to watch Jeffrey while Brian ordered while we ate, but it was a fun time.  Molly didnt't get to come with us because she was off having fun at Classic Fun Center with the Activity days group.  I am grateful for my kids and that I enjoy being with them so much.  It's also been so long since we ate at Costa Vida!!  11-11-24

ERIKA LEARNERS PERMIT
We tried to get Erika's learners on Tuesday.  It was kind of a bummer, but she got the two hard tests for her first two times.  She did not pass.  We went back on Wednesday and she did great!  Got her permit and we stopped at the church on the way home to drive int he parking lot for a few minutes.   This is exciting!  11-12-24

BAD NEWS
While Erika and I were visiting Karen Richardson I got a call from Kelly.  She called again after I sent it to voicemail so I decided I needed to pick up.  She was in tears.  They had canceled her cycle again.  This is such a disappointment because things were looking so good.  We found out later through an expensive phone call with her doctor that she is stumped.  She doesn't know what else to try.  She is going to send Kelly's info to the other doctors in the group to see if they have any ideas, but as of right now, there's not much more they can do.  I still have hope.  I still think that Kelly could have something change for the better.  We shall see.  And keep praying.  11-12-24

IMPROMPTU BASKETBALL GAME ERIKA
Erika had the rare opportunity of filling in for her friend Eva on her comp team for their game Thursday night.  This was really exciting and Erika was so brave to just go and play on some team she barely new a few of the girls.  I was really so proud of her.  It was out at the Weber fairgrounds and unfortunately we got stuck behind a train!  We had given ourselves plenty of time to get there and then ate up all the extra time with trying to get around the train.  It felt like a miracle when we were able to follow a truck that turned around quickly at the train and led us all the way around toward the west.  I was so grateful!  We got there right as the game started which was a bummer, but also a miracle.  Erika played awesome!  This was the first game they've won all season and then the coach begged her to play on the team for the rest of the season.  I think this could be a fun thing for Erika.  11-14-24

PRIMARY MEETING
There was this cool meeting with the Primary General board for all the Primary leaders in the area.  I was really excited for this, but had to miss the first half hour for Erika's game.  Luckily, I did make it over to the church and caught the last hour of the meeting!!  This meeting was amazing!  I loved it!  I love that we are now going to focus on letting the Primary kids lead and have more purpose at church.  I took a bunch of notes:
- Have teacher council meetings- discussing needs for the kids.
- Covenant path lessons at home
- Activity days should be having a day camp every year and activities 2 times per month
- There's going to be an annual service day activity in 2025
- Have children say prayers in Sacrament meeting
- Invite kids to serve and give talks in Sacrament meeting
- Having kids serve in singing and class times
- Have kids conduct primary
- Kids can play the prelude music
- Kids can help teach a song in Primary
- Have the kids help plan and carry out activities
- Give the kids a purpose
- Be in tune to the spirit to ask the kids who you least expect
- Focus on growth, not perfection
- Take names to ward council with ideas for mentorship in achieving goals
- Activity days having kids help plan
- Helping th ekids belong and feel purpose in the Church
- Help them experience Christ
- Do all this at home!!!
It was an amazing meeting.  Nobody in my presidency came except Brooke and she hasn't said anything, so I'm not sure we will implement much, but I can do what I can at home.  11-14-24

MOLLY SHOW OF GRATITUDE
I got to be Molly's plus one at her show of gratitude.  She performed at the nearby Whisper Cove Assisted Living place just up on Main.  She got to represent Dominoes in their gratitude for toys!  Kinda fun.  She really loved her costume and her dance.  I was so proud of her.  She was having so much fun with her friends while we waited for her turn as well.  Kinda cute.  I looked for Terri Moran and couldn't see her.  11-15-24

DATE NIGHT
We squeezed in a little date after Molly's show to go see The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.  Super cute movie!  I liked it!  11-15-24

BARF
After we got home Molly actually lost her cookies.  Kinda sad.  Nate stayed up with her and let me go to bed.  Which was good cuz I was starting to feel pretty crappy.  11-15-24

LUNCH WITH COURTNEY
We FINALLY made it to lunch!  I didn't realize it was going to be a lunch out thing, I thought we were going to her house, but at the last minute found out otherwise.  Which was okay.  We went to the Vessel Kitchen which was pretty good.  I can't say it was my favorite, but it was good.  I like Aubergine better.  But it was so fun talking with Courtney.  We are living such different lives, but still manage to find things to talk about.  I feel so bad about her situation with her dad.  This will take some time.  I hope she is able to enjoy Thanksgiving, and that we can hang out before Christmas!  With the families together.  That's our plan.  11-16-24

SICK
A lot of us were not feeling great on Sunday.  Me, Erika, Sadie and Jack all stayed home.  Kind of worried everyone would throw up, but nobody did.  So that was nice.  Sadie has a horrible cough though, not sure how much longer we should let that go.  She looks and sounds awful.  Erika was a zombie and slept almost the entire day.  11-17-24

PHONE CALL WITH BRAD
We had a nice call with Brad, but he is not doing well.  Just a little burnt out it seems.  He's in a trio still, training natives.  He is trying to be positive, but you can tell he's struggling.  Kind of hard to see him struggle, but I know he will be able to dig his way out of this one.  He's got such a fire burning inside, he just wants to be working so hard.  Such an interesting challenge he's facing.  But I'm praying for him.  Hopefully things are looking up soon.  We all got a good laugh about his comp telling us how old he is in his newly "bettered" English.  Noah and Brad both used the word better in an interesting tense- Bettering and bettered.  Within like an hour.  Kind of funny.  11-17-24

EMAIL FROM BRAD- no subject
Hey guys happy day

Monday was such a funny Pday. We wemt on a hike to a waterfall that didn't actually exist sadly. The buw we took got stock on this hill so then we had to push it up this sand hill which was actually lowkey so fun. We then played signs and that was fun again. We found this kid named Jose that was shch a cool guy and we are going to invite him soon to follow the example of his savior Jesus Christ.

Wednesday: we found another german kid for some reason. I find more and more respect for missionaries that serve in Europe every day. These people find no reason to believe in God. I find it really heart breaking to hear their hatred towards learning of Him. His mom is Peruvian though so there is hope. I then literally almost died. I felt so sick and did not have any strength to move literally. I had to just go buy me a strawberry wafer and take a lap around the block. Because after that somehow we spent the entire night sprinting to every cita. It was rough. But we saw awesome miracles.

I forgot to write the rest of this week. But basically I'm training again and he's another Latino from Lima Peru. He's super chill but superrrr new and awkward so we are learning a lot and trying to do everything in the lords way. .

Spiritual thought:

Literally guys I've said this again but read 3 Nephj 8-11. The first thing Christ did was give his priesthood to Nefi and the others there. That's how important the priesthood is.

That'd all today I'm sleepy haha.

EMAIL FROM LUKE- Transfer newssss
Hey guys! I hope yall had an awesome week. This has been a super busy week, we had a mission tour and transfers and had some of our most successful days so far, so let's get into it.

Monday was pday, we cleaned our apartment, it was really boring. I got to play basketball for a little bit.

Tuesday was mission tour/zone conference. We woke up at 4:30 and drove for a few hours down to bay city. We got to meet elder dunn and elder egbo of the quorum of the 70, they gave such cool lessons and devotionals and the spirit was so strong it was awesome. Unfortunately it went pretty long, and we had a bunch of lessons planned so it kinda screwed up our whole day but it's alright.

Wednesday was a crazy day. We found out over the phone that sister Stinson's husband ej passed away. I need yall to pray for sister Stinson because it's been pretty hard for her. We've been trying to get her ready for the temple so that she can do their temple sealing. We also got a media referral for this guy named cody and we went and stopped by and had a fire lesson with him. He's super awesome and loved everything we were saying.

Thursday we got another media referral and we planned to stop by, but we got there and it was literally a member. I don't think she realized it was more for non members but we taught a fire lesson anyways.

Friday was rough, we had a lot of lessons fall through.

Saturday was rough too. We got to teach this lady Michelle. She lives in a trailer home and somehow has 7 kids that live there too. This was one of the most eye opening lessons I've ever had. It's absolutely insane to see the difference between families that have been centered on christ and the gospel, vs families who's parents made not the best decisions in their lives. She wants her kids to be part of a church tho so hopefully we can get her and her fam to pull up to church. Most of our lessons fell through that day which sucks but it's fine. We have to push our friend Michael's baptism date even further, he's struggling a little. So plz pray for Michael

Sunday we visited with a lot of members and the difference between them and the family we visited saturday was crazy. Even just the feeling in their home was completely different.  It made me just so grateful for the family I have and that I was able to be raised into the church. There really are blessings that come from being part of this church and following the commandments.

We got transfer news and I'm staying with Elder bushman in Friendswood!

Spiritual thought: 2 Nephi 31:5
And now, if the Lamb of God, he being holy, should have need to be baptized by water, to fulfil all righteousness, O then, how much more need have we, being unholy, to be baptized, yea, even by water!

PHONE CALL WITH LUKE
Luke is a lot of fun to talk to.  This was a shorter call, but it was fun to hear how he's doing and all the fun new things he's seeing.  I cannot believe all the times I've heard him mention that they got up at 4:30 and earlier.  He's miraculously getting up at that time I guess :).  It's nice to know he's thriving and feeling good.  11-18-24

FHE
I gave the lesson, we talked about what the Jaredites teach us.  Then we had ice cream for the treat.  11-18-24

SICK
We've had more sick days this week than I can even count.  Sadie with her cough has caused me to call in to work the last two shifts which is starting to look bad.  Mrs. Piper is missing Sadie.  11-19-24

DINNER WITH CLAIRE
I finally got to go to dinner with Claire.  It's been longer than I thought.  We talked all about the Stroke, the Type 1, and then I needed to go home- I felt bad she didn't get to talk about her life as much and so I called her on the phone as we drove home.  She's such a good friend.  I am really grateful for her. There's been an ongoing theme with the few hangouts I've had with old friends lately, with talking about the success of the kids.  I don't know why it's been hard to talk about, but it has.  Like if my kid doesn't have a PhD or on the way to get one, we're failing as parents or something.  It's been so weird.  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it all and trying to figure out where I stand.  It's all good though.  Claire was not wearing an engagement ring. 11-20-24

WORK WITH NAUSEA
I probably shouldn't have gone to work, but I couldn't call in a third time in a row.  So I went even though I was feeling really nauseous.  It was SO hard to work.  I felt like I was in slow motion and could hardly function.  Plus, Tanner was super unorganized and things were all up in the air with no PO and not real plan for the day.  That was frustrating.  I came home and melted into the couch to try to regain some momentum for our Girls Night Out that night.  It was a challenging shift, but I'm pretty proud of myself for making it through.  Hopefully I didn't share too many germs with too many people.  11-21-24

NUTCRACKER WITH THE GIRLS
We got all the girls this year!  We went to The Habit for dinner and had a lot of fun chatting there.  We learned the show wasn't til a half hour later than we thought, so we were able to really relax and enjoy ourselves, which was nice.  I don't usually have that luxury.  I thought we did pretty good with only a little contention and everyone seemed to have a good time.  My only regret was feeling so sick!  I was really nauseous and could barely eat and then all through the show I was trying to plan out how I would get out of my row and to the bathroom before puking the few bites of hamburger I had all over everyone.  It was rough.  But still fun.  This tradition is a fun one.  I think we might try to go to a different show next year, I just want to make sure we make it happen, so I will probably just do it around the same time.  I just think it would be fun to see something different.  There weren't as many friends in this year, so it was a little less entertaining, but we do love it still.  Along with all the fun boutique browsing.  So maybe just not EVERY year.  Good stuff though.  Love my girls.  On the way home I got a text from Nate that Jack had thrown up.  Such a bummer.  I was stressed about his first illness.  11-21-24

JACK'S FIRST STOMACH BUG
This went better than I thought, but it may not be over yet.  He threw up twice Thursday night and then just laid around all day Friday and Saturday with a stomach ache.  I'm not sure why this is such a big deal, his numbers never spiked, he had almost no insulin all day Saturday and hardly ate.  He had to keep eating candy to keep from going to low, but other than that and the battles to try to get him to eat, it wasn't too bad.  We shall see.  We're two days out and he's still not feeling like eating much and he's been low, so not sure how to handle that.  Maybe less Basaglar if it comes down to it.  I don't know.  I didn't call the doctor like I should have so I'm a little nervous about that.  But Jack is pushing through.  I think he might survive.  He did get up and get all dressed for church Sunday morning without any help and reminding!  I was so shocked and so relieved!!  He went ot his family history meeting and church without any hesitation.  I hope he is feeling better.  11-21-24--11-23-24

FRIDAY
I was sick as a dog Friday.  Not throwing up but my body finds a way to reject the germs- all day!  It was so hard.  I was able to spend a LOT of time working on the missionary book I'm selling.  Got it mostly done after sitting around Friday and Saturday.  Kind of nice.  But I have not felt this sick in a long time!  Chills, fever, achiness.  It's been awful.  36 hours of sitting on the toilet.  You know.  Not great.  I had to miss out on the High School Play- Beauty And The Beast and let Nate take the little girls.  They actually had a blast, so that was okay, but man.  I hope this ends soon.  11-22-24--11-24-24

KIRSTINA MANWARING WEDDING
I got to see Charity Manwaring Saturday!  I almost talked myself out of it because we've been feeling so crappy I didn't think I should take my germs or leave everyone home, but I went anyway!  Molly came with me!  We just popped in and popped out, but it was so fun to see Charity and Nick and their kids!  She was so sweet and gave me the biggest hug when I saw her.  Then introduced me to all her Alaska friends who were there.  Kinda fun.  She is so nice to talk to and such a great friend.  Made me miss her again.  I will be calling her for tips on weddings and married kids later.  She made sure Molly grabbed a plate of snacks for everyone at home.  So Charity of her.  It was really fun to see her.  11-23-24

ERIKA PATRIARCHAL BLESSING
This was such a neat experience.  Such a great mom paycheck kind of day.  Erika got to have our new Patriarch, Patriarch Morrell.  This was special because she actually knows him kind of.  She had Diane as her Primary teacher back in CTR6 too.  We got to sit and talk with him at first, hear how Erika feels about things.  He was cool to mention that one thing that helps Patriarchs is to hear the person's voice.  So this was cool.  She had the most amazing blessing!  It was so beautiful!  So Erika.  I love that I know her and that I can see that Heavenly Father knows her, through her blessing.  Such a cool blessing to have the Priesthood on the earth.  What would we do without it?  She had the sniffles and worried about sniffing too loudly for the recording, but I think she was fine.  It was cute that she worried about that.  We're all anxious for her to get her written copy :). 11-24-24

BRAD'S PHONE CALL
This was a funny phone call.  We talked mostly with Brad's companion who is learning Spanish.  Kind of funny.  Brad has taught him well.  All the right things like, "Elder Maynes is a good missionary".  It's always fun to see Brad though.  And we did get to hear about his really special experience with the guy who was making a list of who he wanted at his baptism, not just to watch, but dressed in white making all the same covenants.  I can't wait to hear how that goes.  Glad he still makes time for us.  11-24-24

LUKE'S EMAIL
Alriiiiiight how's it going everyone???
Thanks so much for the emails yall are sending me, sorry if I can't reply to them but I promise I'm reading them.

Ngl this week was a tough week for us. We worked super hard so hopefully this next week we can see more success.

We had to take our friend Michael off date but we had such a powerful lesson with him the other day. He's just really struggling with his purpose and so we were trying to help him see that baptism will bless his life so much. I need yall to pray for him cuz it will literally change his life if he can get baptized.

We went out with a member, Dr b, this week and dropped off turkeys to a bunch of inactive members or part member families.

We've also been visiting a member named Karen, and her husband is not a member and recently he's been sitting in on the lessons and he gets super excited when we come. Hopefully some good things will come from that.

Spiritual thought:
1 nephi 8, this is lehis dream

11 And it came to pass that I did go forth and partake of the fruit thereof; and I beheld that it was most sweet, above all that I ever before tasted. Yea, and I beheld that the fruit thereof was white, to exceed all the whiteness that I had ever seen.
12 And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit

As we partake of the love of God, we will gain a desire to share it with others. Try to find a way to share it with someone this week

Short email this week sorry, love y'all

I also spoke in sacrament meeting yesterday. Go ahead and give it a listen

BRAD'S EMAIL
This week was pretty cool to be honest. I think ill always remember some of the people I met and the lessons we had.

This week we had leadership again which was super fun. All of the people that were here my first few times are now gone and so its super different but its still super fun. We have a crazy leaderhip in our mission. Its very full of amazing Elders and Sisters.

Let me tell you guys about the most powerful lesson I've legit ever had.

It all started with planning the lesson. A lot of the time I'm not too excited to plan lessons and really put a ton of effort into them. But this time we did. And we prepared scriptures specifically for our friend Jose. When we got there we started teaching the doctrine of baptism. The doctrine that we ALL need to follow in order to return to our Heavenly Father. We re-explained the doctrine of covenants, baptism, and talked about how the only way you can do these covenants is through the correct priesthood. We taught that there are so many people out there in the world who are trying to follow christ but don't have access to his divine power that we recieve in covenants. The thing about feeling the spirit in lessons is that It's not a passive thing. The spirit doesn't just show up and hit us right in the face out of the blue. It requires effort. We gave a lot of effort. And when we reached halfway we felt the spirit and asked our friend Jose: "Jose, who do you want at your baptism in 4 weeks? But not in your baptism watching it from a distance but there with you in white clothes making the same covenant with their heavenly father?" That's when the spirit flew in. We gave him a sheet of paper to write the names of all the people he loved most that he wanted to make the same covenant. We listened to gesthemane during this part and I legit felt like we were in the celestial room of the temple. It was the strongest I have ever felt the spirit here on the mission. Me and my comp looked at eachother and we were almost in tears. After the lesson we were talking and both felt so strongly that that was how the Lord wants us to do his work. That is how he wants us to helo every child of His to return to Him. I felt very strongly that this was the work of the Lord and I learned a few things from that lesson.

AUNT DANNY'S FUNERAL
Jack's numbers were so weird ever since he was sick Thursday and we weren't really sure how to handle it all.  I called Monday morning to talk to a nurse and she was somewhat helpful, but also not really.  His pancreas was obviously working and so he was needing WAY less insulin so it was throwing everything off.  I eventually dropped his basaglar dose down to 8 from 13 and his meal doses were completely unnecessary, so that was strange.  But anyway- I decided to drive myself to the funeral since I wasn't sure if he was going to need me at a moment's notice or not.  Kind of crazy.  But anyway.  I got there, got to hear all about Aunt Danny.  She was such a sweet lady.  I really loved that they mentioned she would just drop everything when someone came over.  That's how my grandma was too.  I want to be like that.  She also had cookies and treats for any kids who came over and made everyone feel special.  I would love to emulate that.  She was always so nice to me.  Let me hug her and get my almost grandma fix for the past 16 years.  She was fun to laugh and joke with too.  She understood things and was very compassionate.  I loved talking with her and having her in my life.  I will miss her, but I bet it was a pretty fun reunion with her mom, dad and sister along with the reunion with Uncle Richard.  They were a cute couple.  I can only imagine.  I hope her family can find comfort soon and not have to have too big a hole in their hearts for too long.  Never goes away though.  We went over to the grave as well and then I decided not to stay for the luncheon and just grab some food on the way home.  I needed to get home to do baggie books in Sadie's class.  11-25-24

LUKE'S PHONE CALL
Luke's call was shorter this week, but so fun to hear how his week went.  He sounded pretty busy.  It wasn't his favorite week though.  It's been so interesting to hear about a different kind of mission.  11-25-24

FHE
Nate was the lesson we learned about the challenges the Jaredites faced and then related them to ours.  Very nice.  We played Code Names for the game and then went and got Dairy Queen for the treat.  11-25-24

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST AT DAVIS HIGH WITH JANEEL
Janeel had invited me to a movie last week when I was out with Claire so I thought I'd return the invite and go see Beauty and the Beast with her since I'd missed mine and Nate's date to go last week.  This was such a fun musical!  They did such an amazing job!  I enjoyed talking with Janeel a bit and then the play was just so spectacular it was a great night!  Hats off to Tony Nybo as Lumiere- he did amazing!  We're still trying to figure out how he holds his arms up like that the entire show!  And also Levi Larsen for the choreography!  Apparently that was all him.  Very well done!  11-26-24

WEDNESDAY
This was our clean the house day.  Ended up being pretty pleasant which I wrote down as my tender mercy for the day.  We're getting better at that.  We decided to go hang out at Station Park for a bit that evening.  We went to the toy store, then over to Pretzel Bites, that's when Charity and gimpy Hunter joined us and then over to the Lego Store where Jack spent that $50 that has been burning a hole in his Greenlight account.  Then we went back to Pretzel Time only to find out they closed just minutes before we got there (2nds on pretzel bites were out!), then we headed back home.  Nate dropped me off so I could make dinner and then took everyone else to get candy for the gingerbread houses.  Charity and Hunter had joined us at Station Park as well as Kelly.  Kind of a fun little outing.  Although the little girls would have liked it more if they'd been able to buy all the toys they wanted at the toy store.  11-27-24

THANKSGIVING DAY!
This Thanksgiving was quite the wild ride.  We had invited my dad, Jo, my mom, Simon, Steve, Dan and Adele and their family.  We did the three table set up in each room, living room, kitchen and family room.  We'd given out food assignments and Nate was planning on making the turkey and mashed potatoes- ad libbed some gravy at the last minute which ended up being really delicious, and I was making the rolls and stuffing.  We'd timed everything just right with prepping food, baking it and setting up and cleaning the house.  I was able to get the dishes done mid way through the day- took about na hour and then by the time we ate the sink was COMPLETELY full with dishes again!  So crazy.    Unfortunately, about an hour before everyone was supposed to get here Molly threw up.  This felt like a big wrench.  She threw up on the couch and over the side toward the back door.  Kind of gross and a big mess.  Poor Steve was sitting right there with me, so he had to hear, see and smell it all.  I cleaned up a lot of it, Nate did the rest.  It was gross.  We sent texts to everyone letting them know and nobody really said much, so we just carried on as usual.  We were going to let Molly join in on the fun but then she had another episode as she ran out the back door- smart girl threw up outside.  She was then sequestered to the basement with Nate's phone to watch movies, play games, and barf on her own while we enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner.  Nate was so nice to join her off and on.  It was a crazy day!  We had our dinner everything was going great.  Grandpa and Jo insisted on pie right after we ate which was funny because I felt like we were too full.  They had bought an $80 Pumpkin Cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory which was pretty amazing!  We ate that!  Then the Taylors showed up!  And I felt bad because we had not really been responsible for doing the pies before they came, but they brought a couple too.  We got things all set up for gingerbread houses and I sat and glued crackers together for everyone to decorate for the rest of the evening.  This is a fun tradition, everyone loves it.  I made way too much frosting, but that's okay.  It was a good time!  We sat and talked with Meg and Chris all night.  The mess is still kind of lingering, but we did pretty good at getting most of it taken care of.  Charity, Hunter and Kelly were all here to celebrate with us, that was nice!  Happy day!  11-28-24

FRIDAY
There was not much motivation going on in our house on Friday.  We all slept in and then bummed around most of the day.  Our plan to go to the Ogden village was thwarted when I learned it didn't start til the next day!  We had people going in and out of feeling good all weekend, and this felt like the day to recharge everyone.  We watched a LOT of movies.  Ate a LOT of leftovers, candy, and pie.  It was crazy!  We spoiled ourselves with Panda for dinner which was delicious.  And then a game and movie night.  11-29-24

SATURDAY
This was slightly less lazy of a day than Friday.  We got more of the Thanksgiving mess put away.  We drove out to Salt Lake to take Brad's package to Rubi's and then grabbed Carls Jr. and Costa Vida on our way home.  Costa Vida is so yummy.  When we got home we tried to play a few games.  I don't know what was going on with everyone, maybe maxed out on fun.  Meg stopped by to kill some time before a party and we got to talk a little about the books I've been working on.  And then we dragged ourselves out of the house one last time for the Ogden Village!  We surprised ourselves with getting there in time for the parade- watched a little of that.  Kind of a strange parade.  Not sure why satan and his minions were invited and I still think it's funny Kelly used Key Bank as a landmark.  We had enough fun though, got a picture with a snowman, got to count down to the lights being turned on, watched the fun fireworks and then wandered through the "village" to see all the fun ways they decorated the little cottages.  Sadie loved this part!  There were SO MANY PEOPLE there.  Who knew it was so popular!  But we managed to have some fun and thankfully the van was still in the shady spot I'd parked it.  With no windows blown out.  We grabbed some hot chocolate and pizzas for dinner on the way home.  I loved talking with Jack and Molly doing our "Pumpkin pie or apple pie?" scenarios on every matter possible.  I think we need to go see the village when it's not packed with people, but it was a fun night!  We of course watched the Jazz game and a movie to end the night.

OCTOBER 2024

 TRAVEL DAY
This was technically Luke's travel day.  His last day before leaving to Provo for us.  We tried to make the most of it.  He and I got to go do endowments at the Bountiful Temple in the morning.  Stopped for some Great Harvest as per tradition on the way down the hill.  When we got home we began the big packing session!  This was probably kind of a relief for Luke.  I know it was for me too.  We knew we had almost everything, we just wanted to see it all fitting in the suitcases and such.  I did most of it again, unfortunately.  I probably shouldn't do that, but Luke was pretty attentive.  After going through his list, we only needed a few more things, so after he ate his Panda from Jeremy Giatras, we went to Walmart and finished off the list.  We ran into another elder who is going to the MTC tomorrow as well.  He is actually going on a mission to Peru.  Different mission from Brad, but it was fun to talk to him.  Luke loved being waved at a few times :).  We finally found a watch that he likes.  Got some Skittles, soap box, toothbrush box, shampoo, flossers, razors, all that good stuff and then came home to finish packing.  I was so proud of how well everything fit in his suitcases.  He just took the two big ones and his backpack and crossbody bag.  We put all of his clothes in one and everything else in the other.  It fit rather nicely.  We never did weigh anything.  Hopefully it isn't too heavy going to Texas.  We had a nice time together getting it all situated and I think it felt good to Luke to have this done too.  After packing and the kids got home, we learned that our Boondock's plans were thwarted- it was closed! So we hurried and came up with a new plan.  We ended up at Bountiful Bowl instead!  This was a really fun last hurrah with Luke!  I feel like it went really well.  The girls brought their boys so it was a full house.  We played two games.  It was fun to see everyone getting into this and watching Luke and Noah try out their curve balls every time.  Sadie was a top scorer with her ramp and everyone seemed to enjoy the fries :).  It was a fun outing.  I am glad we made time for it.  We grabbed some pizza on the way home and pigged out at almost 8:00 on that for a late dinner.  Lots of hugs when the girls left.  We had Luke lead our study discussion that night.  We talked about faith being the opposite of control instead of doubt.  He did great!  I love his confidence when he's teaching!  Very cool.  I was able to fill his suitcase with sticky notes with lots of fun things on them :).  This might just be annoying, I don't know, but it makes me happy to do it.  Hopefully he is happy as well.  Last night with Luke at home.  Sadie burst into tears tonight at the thought of Luke leaving.  Took me a while to figure out what was bothering her and when I calmed her enough to talk she said, "I just don't want Luke to go".  Then later as I was getting her to sleep she said, "It's just hard every time my brothers go on missions" and "I miss Lukey already". 10-1-24

MTC DROP OFF
Well, this day actually came.  I don't know why it had to come so fast, but it did!  Maybe not for Luke until the last week or so, but here we are.  Everyone was kind of in a funk all morning.  I decided since it was late start for the older kids and short day for the younger ones, we'd just miss all of school that day!  Easier.  Yes, I've gotten soft on this.  But it was a good morning.  Getting all the last minute finishing touches, packing his backpack full of everything last minute since I didn't want to unleash the sticky notes here by opening up the suitcases.  Luke seemed like he was in a good mood.  Very solemn, everyone kind of was, but a good mood.  We went and picked up Erika at school- she had Hope Squad.  Then headed down to meet the girls at Chick-fil-a in Provo.  This is a fun time, everyone is anxious, but happy and we all laugh and talk.  It feels good.  Then we headed over to the Provo City Center temple.  Just seemed like a fun place to say our last goodbyes.  We didn't do as much of that as we did walk around and talk.  But as we were getting back into the car to go to the MTC, we remembered tha tthis was it!  So there were some tears and big hugs.  Luke didn't crack a tear, but I could see it in his face- this is a huge sacrifice for him.  I'm so proud of him and the choices he is making.  He's going to be so blessed.  That's what makes it okay.  So many tears from everyone else and a few times of "Tell everybody I'm on my way" from Brother Bear and we were at the MTC.  It was kind of trafficky so that was weird, but we got in the parking lot, they let us all out to get a picture and hug some more, I loved that whoever suggested it got us to group hug and the cute Elder helping us got a picture!  This was a tough moment.  We piled back into the van and waved goodbye to my cute little Lukey.  When I looked back at him as I got in the car all I could see was my little boy with the look of courage and strength and some anxiousness in his eyes.  I have seen that face so many times.  Luke is not a scared person.  He does not flinch easily.  He's very brave and has done so many things outside of his comfort zone.  I have seen his testimony grow over these last 18 years and I know he is ready for this challenge.  I know that he will be successful.  I am excited to see how and who he touches and the miracles I know he will experience.  But in that moment, I just wanted to go back and grab him and toss him back in our car and take him home with me.  I have had so much fun with him these last few months and I have enjoyed just being in his company.  He is a good conversationalist and so good at listening.  I will miss that so much.  I know he is where he needs to be.  I really wouldn't have him anywhere else.  We were able to calm Sadie enough to get her back in her seat and everyone else got into the car and had to quickly find a bathroom for Jack and then get the girls to their car and then we stopped at their place.  But not without a lot of tears from the sibs.  Poor Sadie just broke down.  She is really going to miss him.  She was having a hard time the night before as well.  Just the thought was bringing her to tears, so you can imagine there was a lot of it on the way home.  Poor Erika was comforting Sadie at first and then needed some of her own later.  Lots of wet, puffy faces on that long, sad drive home.  I did have some cool little promptings from the Spirit as we went through this day.  First was when I was thinking how unfair it is that we focus so much on family so that our family is this strong friendship that now has to be ripped apart for these missions.  It just seemed so counter-intuitive, but the Spirit reminded me that these missions is one of the reasons we need to have a strong family.  And then when I was thinking about how hard it is and feels wrong to be apart for two years, Heavenly Father knows how we will feel at the end and He knows it will be worth it.  Another thought, after thinking about how This is not my favorite part.  Hopefully the good times will come.  Now we pray for his MTC experience to be all that he needs it to be!  Everyone kind of crashed when we got home.  Didn't really get going until it was time for Youth Activities.  10-2-24

SADIE
Thursday morning, very early, when Sadie came to bed with Nate and I- she whispered to Nate that she misses Luke, but she is glad that he is going to teach people about Jesus.  So sweet.  Felt very much like she has had some angelic teachers helping her through this trial.  She sure loves her brothers.  She drew a cute picture of Luke and her playing spot it while we were at Charity and Kelly's place making birthday cards for Bradley.  10-3-24

LETTER FROM LUKE- Mtc day one
Hey guyyyyys. I didn't send an email last week because it was honestly really boring for the most part. I started and finished home mtc. That had to be like the longest week of my life, I was actually on a computer for almost 8 hours every day. I learned a ton and felt the spirit though so it's alright. I met my comp elder Roberts. He's really chill and I'm glad to be his comp for mtc.

The only remotely exciting thing during home mtc was me and elder Roberts' HOA. HOA means helping others appointment and its like you are put with this actor and have to teach them a lesson that you planned before. And our lady was literally the most uninterested and bored person on the planet. I swear she was like playing games on her phone the whole time we were teaching. I was lowkey offended. I'm sure there's gonna be people like that in the field so it's prolly good practice.

Yesterday I came to the provo mtc. I went to lunch with my fam and then took some pics at the temple and then they dropped me off. After that I found some of my district and then they gave us a tone of stuff and a ton of information. We met with the rest of the district and then had class and a few devotionals. We had some adults come tell us about there conversion stories. These guys were really cool and one of them was super unhinged and he actually called us utards for some reason. He was really funny though and the spirit was really strong when he was speaking.

It's really awesome to be in the Mtc. There's such a strong spirit here and it's awesome to be around so many other missionaries who are all united in the same purpose. I haven't taken any pictures yet so I don't have any to share. Hopefully I will next week.

JACK
Jack is having a really hard time these past few days.  Last week he needed to be picked up early from school because of dizziness and stomach ache.  Then Sunday he had to have Jaxx come grab his tray while he was passing the sacrament because he needed to go to the bathroom.  This week, he has missed out on playing with friends, Young Mens, and now 3/4 of a day of school with these same symptoms.  I'm not really sure what is going on.  When I looked at him real closely today he seems to have lost some weight.  With the frequent urination and the urgency of it, I'm a little concerned it could be diabetes.  But I'm trying not to be too dramatic.  Hopefully it's just a UTI.  We will see I guess.  I'm kind of waiting for something big.  He has lost his appetite though and is weak and tired a lot.  I hope we can get this figured out soon.  10-3-24

SEP DINNER- MOE'S
This dinner went pretty well.  I got Nachos catered.  I chose to have them deliver it because I knew things were going to be crazy that day.  They were way later than they said they would be, so I sat and fretted during the time that I would have been picking it up.  But they got here and set it all up in time.  I think it went well.  I heard a lot of good things.  10-3-24

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
Molly went first- Mrs. Johnson LOVES Molly.  She only had good things to say about her and how good she is in class.  She's doing so well in every area it was hard to think of something to work on.  But she is going to work on typing, multiplication, fluency and cursive (although she's REALLY good at all of these).  She is doing so well.  We are so proud of her.  She got to pick out a book at the book fair and then go to Dance!  Thankfully Noah was willing to take her.
Sadie was next.  Mrs. Piper had so many good things to say about Sadie as well.  She loves how much Sadie loves to learn.  She said she's doing great in all areas.  She loves it when Sadie tells her things and whispers that she loves her.  She is doing good with friends too.  Fun stuff.  Sadie also got to pick out a book at the book fair.  10-3-24

BRAD'S BIRTHDAY PACKAGE
I found a company that would get his birthday package there on the 8th or 9th!  I had to jump on that- we even paid about $40 extra to have it there so early.  We sent him some Lucky Charms, fruit snacks, a birthday sign, peanut butter... can't think of the rest.  But I was  a little nervous when I took the package- the El Inka company is somewhat sketchy location and seemed like it would take a miracle to get it there.  But I prayed!  10-3-24

SCARECROW WALK FIELD TRIP WITH MOLLY
This field trip was tricky.  I was a little late cuz I'd been talking with Nate too much.  So we were not assigned a group.  Then the whole field trip I was talking with my friend Stephanie Wolsey.  This ended up being a huge miracle and blessing, since she knew all about Diabetes and was able to tell me that Jack's symptoms were similar to her daughter's when she was diagnosed.  BUT I wish I had been able to spend more time with Molly and having fun with her.  She was a little big off, not wanting to walk with her friends, not really wanting to be in pictures with anyone... it was tricky.  Maybe we'll get a redo soon.  10-4-24

JACK--- TYPE 1 DIAGNOSIS
It's funny to see that the last thing I posted about was Thursday, the 3rd, when I was worried about Jack a little.  On the 4th, I ended up forcing him to stick out school, we just had the one day and then we would have a whole weekend to relax.  I was worried about him missing too much school.  It didn't seem like his symptoms were serious enough to be anything contagious and I was just worried about him missing school.  .  I told him I would check him out before KIT, but that I wanted him to tough it out and then he could just relax all weekend and get better.  Jack went to school.  I was scheduled to go on a field trip with Molly that day and on this field trip was the younger sister of one of my really good friends from High School. Her name is Stephanie Wolsey.   We’ve become school mom friends over the years and talk every once in a while when we’re helping at the school.  She and I quickly became field trip buddies and were talking quite a bit.  Kind of out of nowhere she informed me that her sophomore daughter had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes a couple of years ago.  My ears perked up and I asked if I could pick her brain about some of Jack’s recent symptoms.  I wanted her to tell me that he wasn’t sick enough for it to be Diabetes, but instead she suggested that it sounded a lot like what her daughter did before her diagnosis.  She did confirm that it could also be a virus, which I latched on to and tried to relax about the whole thing.  She offered the use of her glucose tester and suggested I bring him over to her house after school to test his blood sugar.  I was in denial and comfortable thinking it was a virus.  I really didn’t think it was Diabetes and I definitely didn’t want anyone confirming that it was.  So I thanked her and said, “Maybe”.
When I picked up Jack from school that day- he looked gray.  He did not look well at all.  I felt so bad that I had made him tough the whole day out as he apparently had.  He got in the car and about died from an instant headache that set in right as he got in the car.  He was in a lot of pain.  I decided I should take him to my friend’s house, but I thought I had to give him some food and wait a half hour (as per Stephanie’s instructions), so I handed him a cereal bar to eat.  It was only a few minutes into sitting on the couch at home that he threw up what little he had eaten of his cereal bar.  In my ignorance, I decided this was good news and we no longer needed to check his blood- he just had a stomach virus!  I was relieved in a way and texted my friend to tell her the good news.  Well, she had a different perspective and texted back, “I don’t care if I get sick, I am coming over!”  She got my address and was here within minutes along with her husband.  She was able to test his blood and right away knew.  I was of course still in a little denial, but in the moment of her telling me to pack a bag for both Jack and I for three days and go to Primary Children’s hospital, it did cause some tears.  Stephanie offered a hug, she offered prayers and she told me that she would be there for us, we would get through this and have so much support from her and others. It was more than I could handle emotionally and I was trying to keep it together so I ran around the house packing a bag for just ONE day because I was still in a little denial.
On the way to the hospital I was trying to stay calm and kind of hoped I could pray the high blood sugar away.  He was at a 388 when we left our house.  I decided give Jack a little intro to Diabetes, just in case.  Trying to not let my emotions come through.  I don't know why, but Diabetes was one of those things in my head that I just could not accept.  I knew it was a hard one.  I did not feel like I am in any place to be caring for someone with Type 1.  We just had a stroke in our family three months ago, how could we really be doing another hospital stay and another huge ordeal.  It was a lot for my little brain and I was in SO MUCH DENIAL, for reals.  But I was also not a dummy.  I knew he had all the symptoms for at least a week, maybe more.  I felt bad Jack was feeling so sick.  I felt bad I'd let it get like that.  I just had so many emotions.  We got in, they brought him a wheel chair- talk about deja vu.  They wanted him to wait to pee even though he needed to go pretty badly.  When we walked into the hospital I could tell Jack's breathing was really labored.  I felt so bad.  He actually seemed somewhat relieved when we got in the room and I think he was happy to know that things were going to get better.  They did a quick finger prick while we were at the triage desk and said, "We can't say 100% sure that it's Type 1, but 99.9% sure!"  Ugh.  This was a lot.  I decided to hold back the tears.  I texted Nate that we weren't 100% sure, but almost and then it was only like 20 minutes later the doctor confirmed it.  I texted Nate.  Held back some more tears as we talked and got Jack more comfortable with some anti-nausea.  They did a few IV's- more than he needed and took WAY longer than it should have and a lot more pain than he deserved.  They got some blood samples, hooked him up to the heart monitor and some fluids.  They did a few more tests and a lot more poking and prodding.  The poor guy was a pin cushion by the end of the hour.  Eventually they moved him up to Endocrinology on the 2nd floor.  He was in the room by the nurse's station which means he was high risk.  Sometimes I hate that I know that.  Jack was so good through all of this.  He was really tough and took each thing in stride.  I only saw him cry a handful of times.  One of them being when he learned that Diabetes is a lifelong thing.  I can't even imagine.  Over the next three days Jack and I learned a lot about Diabetes and how to give injections and counting carbs and eating sugar.  It was SO MUCH!!  I was grateful for all the experience I have had with lancets, needles, even counting carbs from my Keto days, it was all pretty familiar.  I am grateful I understand the body the way I do.  I could see fulfillment from my Patriarchal Blessing in these moments.  We tried to make the most of our time together.  Jack wasn't in the mood for conference, so he mostly watched Phineas and Ferb.  I was able to watch about a whole session all together in between education classes and Jack's doses.  It wasn't the most relaxing hospital stay I've ever had :).  It was nice that Charity and Kelly came to see him and brought him some legos early on.  Then Nate and the rest of the kids came by on Sunday.  It was rough.  Jack was so tough, did so many new things like peeing in a bottle.  I was really wishing I'd actually packed a bag for three days- would have been nice.  I left a few times for meals, but we spent most of the time together.  One fo the highlights of his stay (I guess it's just a memorable part, not really a highlight) was when the power went off!  It was off for a while with a lot of things working from the generators, but then eventually the generators turned off too!  It was pitch black in the hospital!  There were little ones crying and nurses and techs wandering the halls using their phone flashlights.  They all maintained their cool which I thought was awesome and so typical of that profession.  It wasn't off for too long, but long enough.  Jack and I had taken a little walk at the beginning because we were wanting to get him out and about.  It was nuts.  But the power came back on and all was well.  On Saturday, I decided it was okay to email Brad and Luke and get their missionary prayers working for Jack.  They didn't respond, but I felt like it was the right thing to let them know.  Poor Luke had only been in the MTC for four days before hearing about Jack's diagnosis.  We got to talk to Brad while we were at the hospital and he was able to send some really sweet messages to Jack about challenges and being strong through it all.  Such a cool big brother.  Jack really seemed to appreciate all the love and messages from everyone.  He even got a few gifts, mostly legos- some from Will while he was at the hospital.  Jack was so patient.  He put up with gross food, SO MANY POKES!! and me.  We had a few classes where they were basically testing and grading us with the carb counting, which was interesting, but we passed and Jack was able to go home Sunday evening!  So that was huge.  We were so grateful for all the love and texts from everyone.  Richelle bringing dinner from Chick-fil-a again.  We were very well taken care of.  When we got home Grandma and Simon stopped by along with the Taylors.  Everyone gave Jack more legos and lots of love.  It was nice to see him getting some positive attention and support. 10-4-24--10-6-24

WHILE I WAS GONE
There were a lot of things on Saturday that Nate had to carry out on his own.  The last soccer games and they were the games we signed up for treats- Molly had wanted to do cake balls of all things so Nate helped her with that and got oranges for Erika's.  I was SO SAD I had to miss the games!!  Sadie also had a birthday party that day.  Crazy day to be gone.  It's always a reminder of how blessed we are with Nate's job that he can (fairly easily) get work off and just carry the whole load at home.  I don't have to scramble to get babysitters.  And who are we kidding- he does my job better than I do, so everything happened and was great.  10-5-24

LETTER FROM BRAD- BLESSINGS AND 20 YRS OLD
Today I turn 20 which is pretty wild I've already made it 2 birthday here on the mish...

This week I had priesthood blessings on my mind a lot. I also had the restoration on my mind a lot. But priesthood blessings have always been a weird subject for me. I always was a little scared to ask for one because I knew I was going to get majorly chastised from God. Wasn't ever sure what it was but I knew there would be something haha so I always had a little bit of fear. Now that I'm on the mission I have been able to give a few priesthood blessings to those in need. Even out here I've been fearful to give blessings because what if my spanish doesn't sound good? Or what if I say something weird in the blessing? What if the blessing isn't what they expected?... etc. I also always felt as if a priesthood blessing was supposed to be like a Patriarchal blessing or revelation that I recieve about them, that they didn't know and would recieve this revelation through the blessing or something like that. But really we have the priesthood that the Apostles had when Christ was on the earth. We have the same authority that they had. We should never have fear or shame of having access to God's power. This weekend I've given like 5 blessings and I have never understood God's power of the priesthood so well until now. We literally have this opportunity to actually bless people with specific blessings in priesthood blessings. With access to this power (as long as its in correlation with the spirit and God's will) we can bless people with specific and direct blessings from their Heavenly Father. That's the power we have to as covenant keepers and desciples of Christ. We have direct access to give and receive blessings from our Heavenly Father through the voice of his servants. Go ask for a priesthood blessing right now and see the power of God work in your life.

That's all for this week hahaa next week for sho better 10-7-24

BRADLEY'S 20th BIRTHDAY
His day came and went!  We had sung to him the night before and I did get to text him a little bit the day of, but so weird that my baby isn't here for me to spoil on his birthday again!  I miss him so much!  I am so proud of him, but I miss him so much!!  He is doing so many good things and growing in ways I had not thought he needed.  I really couldn't be more proud.  But I did feel sad I didn't get to see him on his special day.  Then the annoying thing- the next weekend, when we were talking, we found out that he didn't even know about the package until like the 11th!  So much for getting it there early!!  Whatever.  10-7-24

504
We were able to meet with the Assistant Principal and discuss a 504 plan for Jack.  Basically just making it so he can have his phone on him and checking it and taking care of any other blood glucose needs.  It was nice to have so much support from him and Mrs. Vandyke.  Felt mostly good to talk and get things situated for Jack.  He doesn't love all the attention.  10-7-24

DEXCOM G7
I finally talked Jack into doing the CGM so that we could stop pricking his poor fingers every time we wanted to know his blood glucose.  It only took me like an hour and a half to figure out all the apps and how to connect to it and his new phone (Noah's old phone cuz he got Luke's).  It was kind of a joke how hard this all was, but we did it!!  We punched that little sensor in with pleasure and can now keep track of his blood glucose 24/7.  Which turns out to be a little exhausting.  We are grateful for it though.  Makes keeping Jack's numbers in check much easier.  We are getting really good at the injections and carb counting.  10-7-24

WORK
Thankfully, Kneaders put a pause on their orders so Tanner wasn't too bummed that I couldn't come in. It was kind of a win/win when he said I could take the Thursday shift off as well.  Things were just not quite in order with Jack.  He was having a hard time getting to school in the mornings, staying at school and with the lunch dose and having to come home a few times with that.  It was just nice I was able to focus on Jack.  10-8-24

RELIEF SOCIETY NIGHT
We had a really chill activity this Tuesday.  Lots of refreshments for the 10 of us as we played board games.  It was pretty fun.  We played a few rounds of Code Names and talked a lot.  It was nice to have a break from the insulin, but I didn't stop checking Jack's numbers.  It was nice of people to come ask how I was.  Amber Williams gave me the biggest hug.  That was nice.  There weren't too many others who knew about it all, so that was kind of nice also.  But fun night.  10-8-24

MEET WITH THE SCHOOL NURSE
This was one of the most pointless things we've done with Jack's diagnosis.  But we did it.  We met with the nurse.  She proceeded to tell us all the things we had already learned at the hospital.  She informed me that I am not required to give Jack his doses and that was when she lost all my respect.  I am planning on going to the school to give him his lunch dose each day and she thinks she needs to talk us out of that for some reason.  She "trained" the office ladies on how to give him injections, which I think is just hilarious.  I'd train Erika and have her do it before I'd have them.  But I was perfectly fine doing it.  She was weird.  Nothing real important came of this visit.  10-9-24

LETTER FROM LUKE
What's up guys. This week was really good, hope you all had a great conference weekend.

Thursday: p-day we woke up and played some basketball. We kinda did nothing the rest of the day cuz we didn't really know what else we could do.

Friday: our first full day of classes. Nothing too exciting. But we did have to watch our HOA recording. It was probably the worst thing I've ever watched in my life. The lady watching it with us was rlly nice and helped us out a bunch. Then we played basketball and I humbled some people in lightning.

Saturday: Saturday was cool cuz we got to watch conference. We were in this room with like 300 other missionaries and that's where we watched all of conference. The chairs were not comfy. Any time they said anything about missionaries everyone would get all hyped.

Sunday: basically the same as Saturday. This elder in my district got a temple in his home town and that was really cool. We also had a music devotional and this one lady sang really cool songs that she wrote.

Monday: Monday was our first temple day. We did baptisms and initiatories and we had a lot of time to just sit in the temple and feel the spirit. This week is crazy cuz we have like three temple trips which kinda screw up the whole day so we only have like two normal days this week.

Tuesday: we had our normal classes and we had a lot of good teaching practice. Me and my comp are definitely getting so much better. At lunch these senior missionaries sat by us and they were so funny. We basically adopted them as our grandparents and they offered to buy us crumble the next day and they actually did. That night we had a devotional from Kristin M. Yee, she also spoke in conference. She talked for about 45 minutes but it was suuuuch a good talk. She talked about how the spirit will fill your mouth when you're teaching people. and just the importance of relying on the savior and stuff like that. Afterwards we got to meet as a district and talk about what we learned and the spirit was so strong.

Wednesday: nothing too exciting except me and elder roberts had our second HOA. This one was sooooo much better than the first one. First because it was in person and second cuz we have actually gotten so much better. The guy we taught we so nice and low key made it so much easier to teach. Me and elder roberts felt so good afterwards.

Spiritual thought:
2 nephi 33:10
"hearken unto these words and believe in Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good."

If we believe in Christ then we should believe in the scriptures. The scriptures testify of Christ. The best way to gain a testimony of Him is to read the scriptures. 10-10-24

CHRISTLIKE COMPASSION- SACRAMENT MEETING TALK
Compassion is the feeling of sorrow or pity for another person's suffering, along with a desire to help relieve it. It's a social feeling that can motivate people to help others in physical, mental, or emotional ways.

I also learned that the word "compassion" comes from the Latin word compati, which means "to suffer with".

The words “mourn with those that mourn” came into my mind.

We can see the perfect example of compassion by Christ himself in 3rd Nephi.
Jesus Christ had just spent the day ministering in the land of Bountiful, teaching His gospel, letting the people see and feel the marks in His resurrected body, and testifying that He was the promised Savior.

And I want to read this from 3 Nephi chapter 17 it says:

Behold, now it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words he looked round about again on the multitude, and he said unto them: Behold, my time is at hand. [It was time for Him to go]

perceive that ye are weak, that ye cannot understand all my words which I am commanded of the Father to speak unto you at this time.

Therefore, go ye unto your homes, and ponder upon the things which I have said, and ask of the Father, in my name, that ye may understand, and prepare your minds for the morrow, and I come unto you again.

But now I go unto the Father, and also to show myself unto the lost tribes of Israel, for they are not lost unto the Father, for he knoweth whither he hath taken them.

And it came to pass that when Jesus had thus spoken, he cast his eyes round about again on the multitude, and beheld they were in tears, and did look steadfastly upon him as if they would ask him to tarry a little longer with them. [I love knowing that all they did was “looked steadfastly on Christ” and He KNEW they needed Him]

And he said unto them: Behold, my bowels are filled with compassion towards you.

Have ye any that are sick among you? Bring them hither. Have ye any that are lame, or blind, or halt, or maimed, or leprous, or that are withered, or that are deaf, or that are afflicted in any manner? Bring them hither and I will heal them, for I have compassion upon you; my bowels are filled with mercy.

8 For I perceive that ye desire that I should show unto you what I have done unto your brethren at Jerusalem, for I see that your faith is sufficient that I should heal you.

Then the multitude came forth and Christ proceeded to heal them.

I really love this part of the Book of Mormon.  Christ showed compassion in this moment.  He was about to go and do something, thought about it, noticed that these people were desperate for Him to stay and put off doing that thing and showed compassion.

How could we not feel The Savior’s love for these people.  This is the kind of compassion we need to be showing to those around us and in our homes.

I was thinking maybe we could take these verses apart and look for the specific parts of compassion Christ demonstrated.

The first thing that stands out to me is that He first spent time with the people.  He taught them and ministered to them, letting them feel the prints of His hands and feet one by one.  We can follow this example by spending time with people.  Really striving to get to know and understand their situations.

The next thing is He allowed the people to be who they are.  They were “weak” and were not understanding all that He had taught, so he allowed them the time to ponder to understand.  We can practice noticing the circumstances of others by asking ourselves questions like, “What might be hard in that person’s life right now?” “How would I feel if I were in that person’s place?”  Also allowing people time to process what is happening to them or letting them know you are aware and they have the time they need, and that you will be there for them.

The next thing Christ did was “cast His eyes round about”- He looked at them.  Probably not just through His physical eyes.

We need to look at people, look at the situations they are in, cast our eyes round about and recognize what is going on.  In most cases, this is going to force us to stop looking at our to do list, or our own problems.  Christ had a list of things- important things- He needed to get done, but He still took time to look around and see their need.  Seeing with not just our physical eyes.

In that moment, He was inspired to stay- He felt COMPASSION for them.  He immediately knew what to do- was able to offer that healing that they were so anxious for.  HE MADE TIME FOR THEM.

I have so many examples in my own life of people who felt and showed compassion toward me and my familiy.

A loaf of homemade bread from my visiting teacher after hearing about a hard day.

Texts and phone calls from people we barely know, asking how Noah was after his stroke.

Back when I was in high school, my young women leaders would bring me the treat and a message after every activity/lesson when I was dealing with problems at home and becoming less active.

Constant concern for Kelly’s weird health issues and suggestions for solutions- so many of which were answers to prayers.

Ministering sisters who have become my good friends and just know when they are needed.

Just this past week we experienced the perfect example of compassion.  With my 12 year old, Jack’s permission, I would like to share that story.

About two weeks ago, Jack started having some strange symptoms, I’ll spare him the embarrassment of describing them all, but it was obvious he was not feeling well, just not super obvious what the cause was.  I was in a little bit of denial knowing what it COULD be, but I was also waiting for some more drastic symptoms.  I had to keep checking him out throughout the week and I honestly thought he was just faking to get out of school, because the symptoms weren’t super consistent.  So by Friday I made him stick it out.  I told him I would check him out before KIT (the extra studying time at the end of the day), but that I wanted him to tough it out and then he could just relax all weekend and get better.  The great thing about this example is we see what not to do as well- my shining example of how to NOT show compassion.  Jack went to school.  I was scheduled to go on a field trip with Molly Friday and on this field trip was the younger sister of one of my really good friends from High School.

I decided I should take him to my friend’s house, but I thought had to give him some food and wait an half hour (as per Stephanie’s instructions), so I handed him a cereal bar to eat. She was extremely compassionate in that moment.  It was more than I could handle emotionally and I was trying to keep it together so I ran around the house packing a bag for just ONE day because I was still in a little denial.

Stephanie had listened.  She had allowed me to be me- in denial through most of it- spouting things like viruses and stuff.  She came- who knows what else she had going on at 2:30 on a Friday afternoon- she came without hesitation.  She was there for me even though we barely know each other and offered so much.

I’ll admit I didn’t believe her, I wasn’t wanting to believe Jack had diabetes, and I wasn’t the most receptive to everything she was offering in that moment, but I have since called her several times for help along with my other guardian angel, Richelle.  So don’t give up when offering compassion.  We’ve had so many people reach out, offering hugs and support- this disease has an amazing community.

We made it to the hospital just as Jack was going into Ketoacidosis, they kept saying they were glad I brought him when I did.  I knew that it wasn’t me and I might have brought him too late without intervention.  I felt so bad that it had gotten that bad for Jack, but I think I felt a lot like the people of Bountiful who looked steadfastly on the Savior and longed for Him to stay, because he compassionately stayed with me through those three days in the hospital.  Hours of education on Jack’s future care and hours of studying the mountain of information on his new lifestyle.  He stayed with me even when I felt I didn’t deserve it.

Which brings us to the second part of my topic which is MERCY.  I didn’t quite see the connection between compassion and mercy until I googled the definition.  Mercy means compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm.

In the verses I read earlier Christ says, “My bowels are filled with mercy.”

I had to ask why bowels?  One of the meanings of bowels is “the deepest inner parts or areas of something”.

So Christ was feeling mercy in His deepest most inner parts.  Not surprising.  Christ personifies mercy.  He exists--- his very life and death are--- so that we can experience His mercy.  On a regular basis.  No stipulations- He WANTS to show us mercy.

The term “Bowels” can also be used to describe intestines or the intestinal tract.  The intestines absorb nutrients from the food we eat to be distributed to the whole body.  If your bowels are filled with mercy, your whole body can eventually be filled with mercy.  The more we show mercy, the better we will be at showing and feeling it.

I cannot imagine the frustration my Savior, Jack, or my friend Stephanie felt from my ignorance, lack of compassion and denial.  But they chose to show mercy.  I know that Christ knows me.  He knew that I thought Type 1 Diabetes was too hard for me to take on right now.   I know that Christ knew I was weak.  He knew I needed help.  He knew I was not going to take Jack to the hospital in time so He put Stephanie in my day.  I know that Christ put Stephanie and me in the same place that morning and prompted her with what to talk about and helped her to persist through my ignorance.  He has poured on the mercy.

When we can show others brotherly love, compassion and mercy, we are acting in Christ’s way.  We are His hands and able to do His work.  It brings us not only closer to those we serve and love, but closer to our Savior.  We can become more like Him.

I’m so grateful for the mercy Christ shows me on a regular basis.  The blessing to repent and be forgiven carries me.  I want to be able to show the same mercy and compassion to those in my life who need it.

I’d like to bear my testimony…

VISIT FROM THE TYPE 1 FRIENDS
Along with saving Jack's life, Stephanie wanted to bring her daughter over to talk with Jack and show him her pump and talk Diabetes and Friday while I was pulling out of the school parking lot I met Sherrie Burt who has two sons with Type 1, so she brought her boys as well.  It was pretty neat to have them all over!  I was really grateful Jack could have so much support!  They were so fun to talk to and they brought him a huge lego set!  So much fun!  We have been so lucky that Heavenly Father dropped these new friends into our lives.  I only wish Nate had been here for it.  10-13-24

BRAD'S PHONE CALL
We got to go to the family meeting this week and Brad called toward the end.  We got to talk to him on the way home.  This call was a lot of fun.  Becky got to be there for the first part of it as we were giving her a ride home.  It was fun to hear what he's up to now that Elder Manwaring is gone.  He has two native trainees right now.  Kinda crazy.  But it was fun.  I only wish it was easier to hear him in the car.  10-13-24

LETTER FROM BRAD- BAPTISM
Hey guys good morning what is upppp. This week was super fun. Thanks for all the birthday wishes last week. Appreciate ittt.

This week was pretty crazy. Lots and lots of divisions. We prayed in one of them that we wouldn't be able to walk after because we worked so hard, and it was answered haha. I was so dead after one of them. We literally ran everywhere and didn't have a ton of lessons go through so we were in the street all day.

We had leadership this week which was probably one of my favorites. It was cool being able to lead it and take initiative. We talked a lot about our divisions and the way we do follow up. I alsoo got major chastised by God because i keep taking council from the three C's. So i shall be better.

This week we were able to be a part of finding so many elect people. There is just so much work to do here its hard to know exactly what we need to do.

I can't think of anything else to share so here's a cool spiritual thought.

Mosiah 18:5- Now, there was in Mormon a fountain of pure water, and Alma resorted thither, there being near the water a thicket of small trees, where he did hide himmself from the searches of the king.

Mosiah 18:6- as many as believed him went thither to hear his words...

Mosiah 18:7-... after many days there were a goodly number gathered together at the place of Mormon...

Mosiah 18:8- ...now behold here are the waters of Mormon...

The profet Alma literally taught outside the baptismal font. He taught it as the center of his teachings. He taught repentance, redemption, and faith on the Lord. Faith and repentance are what prepare us for baptism. Baptisms gains us Christ's redeeming power.

He taught and basically said, " here we are and here is the baptismal font. Here's what we will promise when we make this covenant; Here's what God gives us. What impedes you from recieving these blessings from God?"

So that's what I have been doing. I've been teaching right in front of the baptismal font. Teaching our baptismal covenant and the promised blessings. It has been some of the most powerful lessons ive had. I've been able to recieve personal revelation and clarification every time I teach the doctrine of baptism.

Never have fear too teach our purpose to peopl🙌🏼 10-14-24

LUKE FLIES TO TEXAS
This was Luke's big day!  We knew his flight number so Nate sent him a little message that we love him and that his mom said he left his teddy bear at home.  He was able to text us when he got there and called me before he went to bed.  It was pretty fun to hear from him, although he sounded so tired!  When we talked he didn't know his comps name or where he was from :).  He was pretty sure he was in his apartment.  Kinda funny.  It was nice to know he got there safely.  10-15-24

FIRST DAY BACK AT WORK
Felt kinda good to be back at work.  I was able to go do Jack's dose and get there on time.  Super nice.  10-15-24

FALL BREAK!
We had a really nice Fall Break this year!  Lots of fun.  Thursday we spent a lot of the morning going through the toy room.  Molly and Sadie had to pick the toys they wanted to move into their room and we are packing up and getting rid of the rest to make room for the new weight room.  They did really well and I was surprised at how little they wanted to keep.  I think I'm the sentimental one.  After that we met up with Grandpa at Carl's Jr for some lunch.  This was fun and we stopped at Costco on the way home.  Unfortunately, we had over dosed Jack's insulin so he was getting low when we got there and nothing really seemed to bring him back up.  He got pretty dizzy so I walked him out to the car to rest.  It was a little crazy, but we made it work and his numbers came back up.  That night we had the Wolsey's over for dinner.  Nate smoked some pulled pork and we made some mac and cheese and a salad.  They brought a really delicious cake!  It was so fun.  I was really happy with how this night went.  Everyone was chatting and having so much fun together.  We have a few things in common like Alex, the dad, served his mission in Peru.  It was a good opportunity to get to know them and I think I laughed harder than I have in a long time that night!  So much fun.  10-17-24
Friday was a little less exciting.  We bummed around a lot in the morning and then Jack, Nate and I got to go for his education class.  This wasn't too bad.  I think we had worked ourselves up for something pretty horrible, but it was okay.  We were the only ones there so we didn't have to talk about anything we didn't want to.  We got to have lunch while we were in the class and it ended pretty early.  It was informative.  Basically, we are all very anxious for Jack to get a pump.  I need to call the insurance company.  But it was good.  Once we got home it was time for our Halloween Party!  10-18-24
Saturday was supposed to be our Lagoon day!  We were so excited to finally be using our Get Out Lagoon Passes that we'd missed out on all summer.  On our way there, I decided to pull up my Get Out Pass app and when I did I learned that our passes do not work on Saturdays!!!  UGH!!!  I was so sad!  The kids were so sad!!  I mean, they actually handled things SO WELL and were good sports about my screw up.  I felt awful.  We quickly came up with a new plan and turned around, ran home to get some grippy socks and headed up to Ogden for some Fly High fun.  Everyone was happy there.  It was good we only did 1 hour, they were tired and injured by the time our hour was up.  Molly hyper extended her knee.  We had fun though.  It was cute to see everyone getting along and having fun together.  Noah and Erika on the basketball one, slam dunking.  Good times.  After that we wanted to find a place we hadn't eaten before, or at least the kids hadn't, so we took them to Biscuit and Hogs.  We had loved it when we went.  Well, oddly enough, as we walked up, we saw Five Guys and for a second thought maybe we wanted to go there, but decided on the other one,  which a few seconds later revealed on the door that they were permanently closed!!  So we had to scratch that and go with Five Guys. It was nice that we'd already considered this idea.  It was so yummy!  We came home and played with friends and played a few rounds of Code Names and had a movie night.  It was so fun to have Nate home this whole weekend.  10-19-24
Sunday was pretty normal, minus that Nate had work off- so that was nice.  We got to talk to Brad and then watched Escape From Germany as a Sunday movie night.  10-20-24
Monday we weren't quite sure what we wanted to do!  Everyone was fine playing with friends for a lot of the morning.  We then decided to go to Carls Jr.  Fortunately for some of us who weren't in the mood, they were out of chicken stars so Panda Express it was.  Jack had invited Liam and Will.  I felt bad that there was no play place for all the littles, so we stopped at Bountiful park on the way home and everyone had fun running around there.  It was cute when Noah said, "I guess I need to invent an obstacle course for them" and timed Jack and his friends on the course.  That was fun.  We came home, vegged a little, tried to think of some fun things to do.  A few of the kids took off with friends and then we rounded a lot of them up and went off to Texas Roadhouse for some dinner.  Poor Jack was down to the last drop of glucose and was not feeling great, not hungry.  It was a bummer.  He didn't feel like eating anything but fries.  Luckily things got better as the dinner went on.  We also got surprised with the balloon guy!  He made Molly an owl and Noah a monkey and then after some more thinking, he made Sadie a unicorn (she as still recovering from her last balloon popping and wasn't wanting to have that happen again).  We topped it off with Crispy Cones- a new place Nate had heard of.  It was time for study time and bed when we got home.  Such a fun weekend though!  I loved it.  Just the right mix of fun and relaxing.  10-21-24

HALLOWEEN PARTY
When we got home from Jack's education class we got started on all the food for the party. Zuppa Toscana, 7 layer spider web dip, Molly finished her cake ball pumpkins, skulls and scary lips.  We did some ghost chocolate milk cups and set up some of the games.  This party was a lot of fun.  Uncle Steve showed up right on time!  We were pleasantly surprised that he came.  Then Charity and Hunter and Kelly and Devan showed up.  We had a full house, but it was so much fun!  We ate first.  Kelly brought a barfing pumpkin with guac coming out and some ghost white chocolate covered strawberries.  Steve brought the whole little debbie aisle and the chip aisle :).  We played the eyeball toss game next.  This was fun, but we all missed having Luke get it in the little cauldron.  Nobody did this year.  Lots of fun betting and stuff though.  Then we moved down to the family room for the donut eating game.  This was a lot of fun too.  I think I laughed harder than I have in a long time here.  Steve was unhinged!!  It was so funny when he dove over Devan to get his lost piece of donut.  Kinda funny.  Everyone had a good time.  We said goodbye to Steve.  Then Charity got out the game she brought- digging through the gross pumpkin guts to get prizes and candy- so fun!  This was a fun new addition.  Then it was time for the "candy bar game".  Nate went overboard again and bought all the big stuff.  Then handed me a wad of cash to put in the boxes and packages.  This was a fun one.  Everyone did so well at letting things be stolen and not getting too worked up.  It was fun to see what everyone went for.  We hid a fifty, a few twenties, fives and tens.  Everyone ended up with a little big of money and lots of treats.  Molly got the $50!  After that everyone was pretty tired, started getting a little scratchy, so we turned on the Jazz game :).  This didn't really help since the Jazz were stinking it up, but it worked for a few minutes.  I was surprised at how long everyone stayed- I think we turned on Cars2 once we knew the Jazz were done.  It was a fun night with everyone.  I love that they all made it a priority and made it so fun!  10-18-24

PHONE CALL WITH BRAD
With Nate home we had one more phone going here, connected to the facetime call with Brad.  This was a fun call.  Lots of conversation about how Brad was feeling a little discouraged and was wanting to have a better week, so he was kind of trying to pump himself up.  We were all offering our two cents on the matter.  Charity was reminding him to not be so hard on himself.  Hunter was reminding him to still have fun.  Kelly talked about joy and seeking for joy.  Nate and I brought it all the way around with letting himself feel motivated to do better.  You can always do better and sometimes the Lord lets us feel discouraged so that we are motivated to work harder.  We'll see how his week goes!  I think he's doing so good.  It's fun to hear all that he is doing.  10-20-24

LETTER FROM LUKE- THSM
What's uppppp. this week was crazy it was my first week in Houston! i also havent had a pday in a fat minute so sorry for the long email.

I had my last few days of mtc and I don't remember anything that happened. Sunday was awesome tho, we did this thing called the go and do experience where you basically do a personal study for like 1 and a half hours or like 2 hours. Which sounds really boring and it was boring at first but it ended up being really cool. The day before some of us left, we all said goodbye and stuff. I'm so glad I got such a good district for the mtc they were awesome.

Tuesday was travel day, most chaotic day of my life. We woke up at 5 then got on like 3 different busses to the airport. Made it to Houston and then found the mission president's wife and some of the area presidents and they took us to the mission office which is just a church building near the mission home. We had a super long meeting and we met our trainers, my trainer is elder bushman. He's a beast. He's been out here almost two years and is going home next transfer. He took me back to the apartment and I got all settled in and went to bed.

Basically none of the days this week were normal days apparently.
Wednesday we had a bunch of meetings and didn't have much time for the rest of the day so we knocked some doors and went and found people to talk to at a park.

Thursday we had a bunch of member lessons. My comp took us to this one lady named sister Stinson. She is literally mama odie from princess and the frog. She lives in this trailer park and my trainer told me she was a non member and that I was gonna teach part of the lesson. After the lesson she told me she was actually a member and I was super confused. Apparently my trainer set it up so that I could practice teaching, I was pretty mad at him. But this lady is hilarious and she could literally talk for hours if you let her. She loves the missionaries. We talked to this one member for a little bit and tried to teach him a quick lesson but he kept bringing up politics the whole time so it ended up being a long lesson. There's a lot of people who only want to talk about politics it's hilarious. We had a good lesson with this convert named Karen about temple work and I think she really liked it. She wants us to do baptisms for her dad in the temple.

Friday we woke up at 5 in thr morning and we drove up with all the new missionaries to the minute maid stadium where the Astros play. It wasnt for an actual game but we got a little tour and got to go out on the field it was sick, and they challenged us to read the book of mormon in 2 transfers. We were super tired for the rest of the day.

Saturday we taught this lady named Susan Berkeley and her son Micheal. They had a lot of questions and I think it was a pretty good lesson. Susan's husband came in mid lesson with this big robot thing he made and just drove it around for a sec with a huge smile on his face, and then walked out haha.

Sunday we went to two sacrament meetings and I met a ton of people. We taught some member lessons that night too.

I'm so glad to be here this place is awesome. I've met some awesome people and I'm excited to preach the gospel here.

Alma 22:15
"And it came to pass that after Aaron had expounded these things unto him, the king said: What shall I do that I may have this eternal life of which thou hast spoken? Yea, what shall I do that I may be born of God, having this wicked spirit rooted out of my breast, and receive his Spirit, that I may be filled with joy, that I may not be cast off at the last day? Behold, said he, I will give up all that I possess, yea, I will forsake my kingdom, that I may receive this great joy"

What are you willing to sacrifice to be born of God? 10-21-24

LETTER FROM BRAD- ELDER MAYNES IN TEXAS
Hey guys whats up? This week was pretty hard haha. Still was awesome and still was able to see the Lords hand in every part but it was a lil roughness.

Also Luke made it to Texas this week💪💪

This week one Elder went home in our zone and so we had to send the Elder I was training over there. Not a good idea. He took that as an opportunity to chill with the other Elder. So we had to be calling and visiting them and then eventually just had my other comp go join him. But then we had another big problem with some other Elders so we did divis with them too, but those divis went very well. We had our leadership council talking about our divisiones. So I've been tryna apply what we learned.

We had a lesson on divis with an inactive member. He was a returned missionary. He was talking about the day he took his tag off🥲 He explained it very well because for the first time in a minute I was in legit tears. That day I hope never comes. I love this work more than anything.

This week lowk I probably worked harder than I've ever worked and I legit was 100% in the work every waking minute. And then Sunday came and for the first time in a really long time in this ward, barely anyone came. I was pretty close to tears in sacrament meeting. But then we had the coolest afternoon yet so it was fun.

Sunday we spent the entire day in meetings. Legit we had like 7. Our first one was to plan this big meeting with all these bishops in Arequipa. Then we went and had a plan with our missionary leader to make our new ward plan for sharing the gospel. Then we went to go plan the next two months of activities in the stake. And then after we had the huge training meeting with all the bishops. We introduced this new plan we have for working with the stake and uniting all the goals and indicators with the missionaries and the stake. I'm pretty hyped to get it all solidified and help all the wards get everything locked in and start working completely unified in the work with the Missionaries. Probably one of the coolest meetings we have had in a while. They also gave us pizza.

Spiritual thought:
I was talking with my comps a lot about obedience this week. Obedience I would say is probably one of the most important principles in all eternity. Christ was perfectly obedient to his Father. He followed every single commandment without fail. That should be our goal. We should never shoot for less than that. Obviously we are going to mess up but that should not be etched into our plan. Me and my comps were having a littñe bit of struggle getting home on time or staying completely obedient to the small and simple things. I told them that I will be 100% obedient to the Lord and these norms we have as missionaries. And there's nothing that will stop me from doing that; If they're willing to or not. But obviously I want them there with me being 100% obedient and united in Christ. Might have been a little strong but it's the truth. We then had a good conversation and they're all willing to be 100% obedient as well. Now I need to study the norms a lil more because I still don't know them all haha. But honestly guys you can find joy in the obedience. That is where you find true joy from God, from Christ and his atonement. By doing the father's will we will grow to understand more of the Saviors Atonement.  10-21-24

P-DAYS
Luke had his first P-day in a long time on Monday!  We got to text with him all morning.  I got to text with him and voice message Brad a lot of the day.  Then at about 3:45 Luke called!  This was a really fun phone call, hearing all about his trip to Houston.  The flight and the meetings that followed.  He had a cockroach in his shower.  He got to go spend a bunch of time at the Minute Maid Stadium.  He sounds really positive and anxious to get going with the work.  We loved hearing about the fat dog and Mama Odie.  Good stuff.  10-21-24

BACK TO SCHOOL AND WORK FOR ALL OF US
Jack taught himself how to do his own injections over the weekend and was able to do his own lunch dose today.  This is huge.  He's doing so good.  I'm so proud of him and all that he has taken on and his positive attitude.  He's totally got this!!  Everyone made it back to school!  Sadie said it was a dream come true because she dreamt about going to school.  Erika forgot it was an A day and I was back at work, organizing the labels for some reason.  I wish I was getting more practice bagging.  But it's all good.  We're back in the swing.  10-22-24

RECEIVING CLERK TRAINING
This was weird.  Not gonna lie.  Way different than I'd expected.  Well, the first part anyway.  They spent a half hour telling us how to handle grumpy voters.  Kinda strange.  I felt pretty good about everything else they taught us.  10-23-24

MAYNES FAMILY HALLOWEEN PARTY
I guess it wasn't really a party, more of a hangout, but it was a lot of fun.  We went to Witch Fest at Gardner Village and had some yummy dinner.  This was kind of a rough night for Jack, but we made it through.  It was fun that Charity and Hunter joined us.  We were missing Nate, Kelly, Brad and Luke.  But we enjoyed talking with everyone for a bit and then heading over to the kids thing- Ricochet Canyon.  Where I spent way too much on tickets to do things and then there was nothing to use them on.  Kinda of funny.  Luckily they gave me my money back.  Oddly enough, we had passes with our Get Out passes to do all the things we didn't end up doing.  Not that we would have, just funny that we had the passes for it too.  We had fun.  10-26-24

HAUNTED FOREST- MAUGHANS
We made it over to the haunted forest after the Maynes thing.  Lots of fun this year.  Jack, Will and Liam ran around scaring everyone.  Molly and Sadie and I visited for a bit and then Erika, Kate and their friend group all ended up in our backyard and house and we got pizza and treats.  Pretty fun!  I just wish Erika would invite them all over more often :).  10-26-24

EMAIL FROM BRAD- STRIPLIN WARRIOS
LONG EMAIL SORRY. This week was crazyyy. So much wild stuff is happening here. All of a sudden the violence and danger shot up this week. But it's kind of exciting sometimes not gonna lie. I've also learned a whole lot about my purpose here on the mission.

Monday: we played sooo many sports on Pday. Obviously I destroyed in all of them but it killed me for the rest of the week hahaha

Tuesday: we kinda got cooked, it was a pretty slow day.

Wednesday: Today was sooo goood! We learned a lot about comparison and competition, and I learned I need to get rid of these actions here on the mission. We learned a lot on how to connect everything to baptism which I thought was really cool. Then later that night we set up a meeting with our stake President. Not totally sure why but I felt like we were supposed to meet with him. He was taking foreveerrrr so we ended up waiting for a while. The meeting didn't really go too super but it was a miracle. If we didn't have the lesson we would have already been on the way home to the house. And during that meeting a block away from the church a guy got shot and so everyone came inside and locked up the gate and everything which made us a little more late to the house but it was a cool miracle how we were being guided.

Thursday-Friday: I had divis with these two Elders that I just love so much. But I learned so much patience with these two. It was pretty rough lowk, I kind of dragged them around a little but we learned a lot! Our power went out too so we were lowkey stranded in our house in the dark during the night. The goal was to juet focus everything on Christ and the covenant that gives us access to his power which is baptism. I called them "exchanges to baptize." Every single contact we connected Christ and baptism into every single question, comment, invitation... everything.

After the divis my comp and another Elder decided it would be fun to not change back so they just never came to the house to swap back after divis so they could spend another day together. Spirit was yelling at me to tell them no, so I told them no and they ignored me so I definitely got mad at them but then decided to let them do it and face the consequences. They ended up getting robbed on this one street where some guy in a car came zooming and snatched all their phones. I'm glad they didn't get hurt or anything though.

Saturday: One of the craziest days yet. We woke up and ran to the temple again to do a tour with a family of 4. We invited them to be baptized but the Dad was being so dumb and has drinking problems so he's kind of dragging his family down with him in the process. It was pretty sad to be honest. Then we had lessons all day in the church. We were able to help a ton of people get to knoe the church and we also invited a lot of people to prepare to make covenants with their heavenly father. What I love to do with church tours is give the entire tour but end in the room with the baptismal font. Teach everything we do at church and end with the "why." Then we get to teach the doctrine of Baptism and connect everything we do in the church to Christ. It's honestly so cool.

Sunday: It was good but sad once again. Its always so sad when people give into the tempations of Satan and don't show up to church. There's always blessings and joy waiting for them if they can keep the lords commandments. We had a lot of friends still show up though which is the good thing. And then we got to weekly plan and set the highest goals ever which lowk is going to be the craziest week but I'm trying to help lots of God's children not just a few.

Spiritual thought:
So this week I have thought very much about my purpose here on the mission. So many people I have talked to told me on the mission to "work hard but not too hard so you can still enjoy it. Or work hard but also take some time to have fun and relax so you can have some fun memories." Stuff like that. But that is not the purpose of the Lord sending his children on missions. The purpose is to gather the Lord's children and help them obtain access to the Saviors atoning power and the connect them with their Heavenly Father through covenants. Only through Christ can we be saved and return to our Heavenly Father. And we are given these 2 years, power, guidance, time, protection, knowledge, young fit bodies... etc. To be able to bring to pass the Lord's work. There isn't any work more important in the world than this. I like to imagine myself as if I'm one of the strippling warriors. They understood their purpose out there as a warrior. Like it says in

"Alma 57:21: Yea, and they did obey and observe to perform every word of command with Exactness; yea, and even according to their faith it was done unto them... and dud remember the words which their mothers had taught them."

It does not say anywhere in there that they obeyed mostly but they also wanted to have some fun memories and sit back on the commandments, ya know, relax a little. They obeyed every word with exactness. Thats because they understood their function as strippling warriors. They were there to fight with all their heart might mind and strength for their everything...

That's why I am out here on the mission. Everyday I start the day telling my Heavenly Father I'm going to obey every word and command with exactness. And I will do it in the name of His Son, Jesus christ. As missionaries we are here to bring to pass the Lord's work. We are here so God's children can be connected and sealed to him through the atoning power of His son Jesus Christ. It is not a casual work, nor a passive work. I'm going to give it everything I've got because I understand the urgency this work has.

I love my Savior and I know that as we focus on Him and the ordinances that give us access to His redeeming power we will grow closer and closer to Him everyday. We will help more of His sons and daughters make covenants with Him. Christ is the reason. He is the focus. That's why we are obedient. Because we love Him and our Heavenly Father. Not because we want anything out of it, but so we can show this love we have for Them.

LETTER FROM LUKE- My weekly
Second week in the field has been awesome. I feel like I'm finally getting into it and can actually do stuff, you know? I'll put a link to my Google photos at the bottom. Anyways it's been lit, here's some of my highlights.

Monday was pday, nothing to exciting.

Tuesday I went on an exchange with elder madsen, it was cool to see another style of missionary work and sorta just opened my eyes to how everyone can teach in their own way. He also is a Spanish missionary so we talked to a ton of people who spoke Spanish. That was pretty cool to see.

Wednesday was kind of a slow day, we wanted to do a bike day but both of the houses we rode to, nobody was home which was unfortunate. But we did meet with this one family and had a pretty cool lesson about sacrament.

Thursday we met this guy at a trailer park who didn't speak English. My comp speaks a little Spanish so we had a cool conversation with him over google translate and we referred him to the Spanish missionaries so hopefully they can teach him.

Friday we went knocking in a trailer park and we talked to so many people and set up times for us to come back and visit them.

Saturday we met this lady while knocking doors and she was super cool. She asked us to pray for her son and we prayed right there with her and then she asked if we had a copy of the book of mormon she could have. Hopefully she reads some of it and then we can teach her.

Sunday we had meetings all day long. Nothing too exciting.

Spiritual thought: 2 nephi 6
"I glory in plainness; I glory in truth; I glory in my Jesus, for he hath redeemed my soul from hell."

Something I've learned here, is that people tend to overcomplicate the gospel, and they try to strengthen their testimony by diving deep into the history and theology of the gospel, instead of the doctrine itself. I would encourage you all to build your testimony on the savior. I can't remember who it was but someone gave a talk in conference about how the savior is the roots of your testimony. We need to make the savior the center of our testimony because it is His gospel. The best way to learn about the savior is to study the Book of Mormon. It's literally another testiment of Jesus Christ. President Nelson said if you read the book of mormon every day, you will make better decisions every day. I invite you all to commit or recommit this week to studying (not just reading) the Book of Mormon every day. I want you to focus on the savior and what we learn from him. I promise you'll notice a difference in your life, and you will see your testimony grow.

Anyways, love you all.

CARVING PUMPKINS
This ended up being a ton of fun this year!  We had Charity and Hunter and Kelly with us which is always extra fun.  Everyone got into it and had fun carving.  It's fun to see how far some kids have come with this- including Nate- he really outdid himself this year.  It was cute to see everyone helping Sadie- she didn't really feel the need to do much of it herself.  But she did pick a cute design.  Love these traditions.  10-28-24

COLUMBIA ELEMENTARY HALLOWEEN PARADE
This year the parade kind of snuck up on me for some reason.  No biggie though.  Sure was a different experience standing there with no littles to get excited about all the costumes with.  One of those times where it hits me we're in this stage of life now.  It was okay.  I stood and talked with Walker Green's mom, Brecken Cook, and Jaylen Haupt.  It was fun to see everyone and I loved that the neighborhood kids would purposely wave to me or say hi.  I couldn't believe that I'd left my phone in the car- I NEVER do that anymore- as Sadie's class was coming by I made the discovery and about died- I'm already that mom!  But it was okay.  She gave me a big hug and was so happy to see me- maybe it was better I didn't have a phone in front of my face.  But she was so happy and seemed so grown up all of a sudden.  Molly too!  She was playing it cool this year, not as outwardly excited to see me, but I know deep down- maybe way deep down- she was beaming at the thought of her mom standing there waving to her and her friend as they walked around the playground field :).  She's very cool, ya know.  But this was fun.  Just a new different.  Then it was time to hurry and get some candy for Molly's class party and race back to the school.  10-31-24

MOLLY'S CLASS PARTY
I missed the messages about this party because they were sent on the Class Dojo app, but once I finally got on board, all the stations had been decided, so I was forced to just join another mom.  It was fine because the one I ended up with really needed some help with her "Potion making" station.  Which I have to say is probably one of the coolest stations I've ever seen for a class party!  SO fun!!  So cool!  I was also in charge of bringing the candy for Zooey's mom's station which was musical chairs.  We had a fun time.  Molly was adorable the whole time and I think she had some fun as well.  10-31-24

ERIKA DR. WOODS- TIREDNESS
We finally got Erika in for the tiredness she has been experiencing far too long.  It's been over a year.  I hate to admit it.  He is running her blood, hopefully we get some answers.  Some easy ones.  10-31-24

HALLOWEEN NIGHT
Our numbers have been dwindling for a while, so I'm gonna try not to talk about it too much.  We had a pretty chill afternoon and then ate our mummy dogs during the getting ready rush.  Sadie chose to be Elsa this year.  She went through several ideas, the longest lasting idea, the one that was changed at the very last minute was a swan which I thought was interesting, but also would have been kind of cold so we welcomed the Princess idea.  She found the perfect dress on Amazon.  It came with all the necessary accessories which was super fun.   She enjoyed trick-or-treating this year and did all the walking on her own!  It was so nice not to have to have a wagon or stroller!  I'm not sure I felt this as much as I thought I would though.  Maybe because I still ended up carrying stuff.  Sadie seemed pretty happy the whole night.  Didn't get grumpy til it was time to go home- or maybe that's why it was time to go home.  She and Molly both were content with what they had though.  Molly was determined to be a ninja and took some convincing to just wear the homemade purple ninja costume we had, but then the shirt was missing (of course), so we had to get a new black shirt and make a new one.  She loved it though!  It was a little bit of a disappointment when Milo showed up in a really fancy ninja costume and people weren't sure what Molly was, but she toughed it out.  She seemed fine with it when it came time to getting candy as well.  She looked amazing and then Nate went and got his special stick and that just topped the outfit off!  So cool.  She loved Trick-or-Treating this year.  I think she was a little torn between wanting to run ahead with Jack or hanging back and helping with Sadie.  She was a sweet big sister that night, really fun for Sadie.  She did all her walking, didn't seem to get tired.  Next year she wants to invite some friends.  Jack had some fun ideas this season where he and Will and Liam would match or themed, but in the end, he just wore the black no face mask with his black hoodie and black pants.  Pretty cool if you ask me.  They came trick-or-treating with us, but ran ahead and were out of sight most of the night.  Once we got to Thaxton's he had a hard time deciding whether to eat some scones or not.  It was a weird one, new T1D and all.  But he toughed it out.  He chose not to eat anything and seemed to be just fine.  When he got home we did dose him up and he was able to eat a bunch of candy.  They all had fun trading candy and watching a movie when we got home.  Erika deliberated for a long time about which animal onesie to get.  All her friends had chosen that theme.  She landed on a cow, which I thought was super funny.  But her costume came and it wa sSO soft and so cuddly.  I think she liked it.  She looked awesome.  She was so fun to come trick-or-treating with us for a bit before heading off to a party.  It sounded like she had a good time that night as well as the night before at the pre-Halloween party.  I'm not even sure where Noah ended up that night.  He wasn't dressed up.  Didn't get in any pictures.  He's just too grown up I guess.  Gotta get used to that idea.  But it was a fun night.  It was great that Nate was with us all evening.  Another successful Halloween in the books.  10-31-24
