HOT POTATO LACROSSE TOURNAMENT
Kelly participated in her very first Lacrosse Tournament this Saturday!! Up in Boise! It was a lot of fun anticipating this and it was something I think Kelly and I have both looked forward to for her :). It was a last minute decision to just drive up the morning of and come back that night because of all that we had going on Friday and Sunday. I am not sure what possessed us to come up with such a plan though, and when I was dragging kids (Kelly, Noah and Erika were my road trippin buddies) out of bed at 3:45 in the morning, I was even more weirded out by the decision. It was a VERY early morning! Kinda funny that we drove in pitch darkness for at least three hours... maybe more like three and a half. But I experienced the miracle of a lifetime on the way there, actually two miracles, one small (if that's possible) and one big. The small one happened when at about 5:30 everyone was completely out! I was all alone basically in the car, driving in the dark. I realized that I still had almost four more hours of this and I was not sure I'd make it. I said a little prayer and asked Heavenly Father to please just make the time pass quickly :). Oddly enough, he did! Time kinda flew by! Which is why I was in my next predicament that lead to the other miracle. HAHA! Funny how that works sometimes. I had checked the gas gauge what felt like recently and then all of a sudden, while we were in the middle of nowhere, about an hour away from the tournament, the gas light goes on, with the threatening little "ding" and the scary little -- in place of how many miles are left. I panicked a little and started hoping there was a gas station soon. Then I went up over a hill and SAW that there WASN'T! There was absolutely nothing for miles. Then I REALLY panicked. A lot. I said the most, intense prayers I think I've prayed in a very long time, asking Heavenly Father to please get us a gas station and soon! I kept thinking about how I would handle things if we did run out- if I'd leave the kids in the car, or make them walk with me to go to a gas station- nothing seemed like a good idea, so I'd pray harder. It was so stressful!!! And nobody was awake to calm me :). Then finally, I was going up this huge hill and the car felt like it was starting to chug a little. My heart sank. I knew it was going to quit on me. I knew we were going to have to miss the first game. I knew Kelly was going to have to miss her first game... it was sad for a minute there. Then out of nowhere, I saw two little lights (and oddly enough, this was during the part of the song that says, "Celebrating the light" with this great crescendo! So perfect!!! It was a GAS STATION!!! In the middle of nowhere!!! WAHOO!!! Oh my heck, you wouldn't believe the excitement that poured over me as I turned off the exit and made my way to the gas station! It was the most relief I think I've felt in a long time too!! I couldn't stop smiling and cheering- even woke up the kids. I was SO HAPPY!! I felt so blessed and so loved by my Heavenly Father. He really does love me. Even though I'm not perfect. Which is a very good thing because I am so far from perfect, it's not even funny. But he made it so that we didn't have to miss the first game! We actually got there in time and Kelly even got to play even though she had missed the warming up. That was another little miracle. We had such a good time though! We loved watching Kelly play. They did really great on their first game. The other team was up 5-0 at half and we held them down to 7-5 in the end, we lost. So that was pretty impressive. Especially since half our team was missing and the other teams had mostly varsity girls. The other two games were less enchanting, but still really great experience for our new girls. Kelly played like a rock star!! I was so proud of her! She was stealing the ball, hauling down the field, getting smashed into with elbows in each ear... and NO CALL from the ref!!!! Kinda crazy really, but lots of fun to watch!! We even got an air show during those last two games. Pretty cool to see the Thunderbirds. Erika and Noah were a lot of fun. They ate their snacks (gotta have road trip snacks), ran around to the playground, kept me entertained during the breaks :). It was a lot of fun to have them with us. They make a great cheering section. I love that they wanted to come and be so supportive of Kelly. Fun little sibs. We went to pizza with the team for Cora's 18th birthday- that was cool. I felt horrible leaving early, but we really needed to get on the road. I'm so glad we did too, because we didn't pull in until almost 11:00 with the stop at the store for steri-strips for Jack's chin. The ride home was pretty uneventful. Minus me stressing about Jack's cut on his chin. I remembered to stay on top of the gas. It was pretty long and kind of boring, but we survived. I loved listening to Noah and Erika play ABC game and talk about how they weren't tired at all and then glancing back in the rear view and seeing them konked out on Molly's seat! Both of them!! SO funny. Kelly and I got to talk a little too which was awesome. I loved being with her and spending that time together. I hope we get to do that again sometime soon. 10-14-17

Look at her go!! She'd point out how the other girl is raking the ball!
Right in the middle of all the action
This is a pretty sweet picture if you ask me.
SEE!! Elbows in the ears!! Poor girl!
Still fighting for the ball though!
We ran into the Boise temple on our way out which was good because we'd forgotten that we wanted to stop and see it! Got a few pics. I just love the feeling the temple gives me. Even just looking at it.
Kelly got this one out the window as we were leaving the parking lot. Pretty good!
