BUNK BEDS
So this is one of those funny-not funny things. When Nate was fixing the leak in the boys' room downstairs a month or so ago, we noticed that their bed was looking pretty sad. Not just the fact that they had blankets piled a mile high or that they still didn't have a fitted sheet on their mattresses
(even though I've begged them a million times to do so- gross), but the bed frame itself was looking... well... really sad! That bunk bed was one of my magical, too good to be true, finds on KSL a few years ago. Even the first time I saw it, I felt like it wasn't going to last long. The price was right, but not the quality. But I was so desperate I bought it anyway. It's metal, and it's been moved around (taken apart and put back together a few times), so it's not like it's had a real fighting chance. Not to mention how the boys were on it, and their siblings. Anyway. It was starting to lean. I knew then it was only a matter of time. Since I'm not a big fan of buying new furniture all the time, I put it off. Actually, I think I looked on KSL and didn't see anything I liked and forgot about it :). So anyway. This last weekend, Bradley said something about his bed and how it felt like it was going to fall over. Sure enough, I went down there and it looked like something out of a pop up book! Like it was going to just fold up! He was right. And it was definitely not going to last long. I told him to stop sleeping in it (who knows how that would have felt to Mr. Luke on the bottom bunk if it did, and that I would start looking for a new one. Luckily I found a killer deal on KSL, Nate was able to borrow Alan's truck (after borrowing his car- nice guy), and looked at it, bought it, and brought it home the next day! WAHOO! It never goes that smoothly. So when we went down to clean up and take apart the old one, it was being propped up by a pipe (left in there from the leaky wall project- their poor bedroom!)!!! As if that was going to keep holding it up! So sad. Kinda funny, but so sad. Their new bed is awesome though. Super sturdy, good quality, wood. And it can be two beds when they get tired of climbing up top. Glad to have that done :). 2-26-18
FHE
For Family night this week, Molly had the lesson, so she and I went through some of our old Family Night lessons from my group I was in back in Eagle Mountain, and found the cute story about the Little Red Hen. We practiced it for hours that day til she had it memorized and was able to predict which pictures to hold up next.... HA!!! Had you going there didn't I!! This is how I wanted it to go- unfortunately, I forgot to plan ahead and ran upstairs, rummaged through the old lessons, grabbed the first thing I came to, which was the Little Red Hen story and actually, this was something Nate and I had brought up with the kids a few days before, so it was perfect. I ran back down and stumbled through the story and helping Molly hold up the animals in whatever order she wanted because her screaming wasn't conducive to the story. Life. But it ended up being kind of fun. The kids got into it for Molly. And I think they learned something. So that was good. We had Nate's cheesecake for my treat and then watched the Jazz game together for our activity. Fun times. 2-26-18
HEARTLAND
Okay, I'm talking about this now. I was too embarrassed to say anything before, but I just finished season 10 of Heartland. I have searched and searched for a way to watch season 11 but it's just not going to happen, so the addiction has come to an abrupt end. I spent more hours than I care to admit watching that show, (but if you do the math, 10 seasons, times 18 episodes each, times 45 minutes per episode...) let's just say it's a good thing I had the sick excuse for the first half of that, and for the second half- you'd be surprised at how many things I can do while I watch tv on my phone. I honestly had no idea what a good multitasker I was! And all the laundry!! The kids were spoiled- I was folding their clothes to justify watching my show. So embarrassing really, but now that it's over I can come clean. I blame Emily for this. She is the one that got me started. Didn't help that Annie likes it too!! But it really was a fun show. And I can't get over how clean it was!! Minus maybe some cowboy language, but even that wasn't bad. So many good morals and values were pointed out and all the stuff they shouldn't be doing was made to look bad! I loved it! I loved how it made me feel and the importance of family I felt during it. It was just fun to watch. Cute, predictable drama that kept me clicking on the next episode button. I just love it. Can't wait to watch season 11 really :). But I'm also glad to have my life back. I told Nate it was like my vacation. Ya know how most moms get to go on trips once in a while, or out on overnight or week long trips with their friends... this whole being stuck to my phone thing was like my vacation :). I was letting myself do it without the guilt because of that. I knew it was going to end and I knew I would get back into life, so I justified it :). It was a fun vacation, I have to admit. 2-26-18
ELEMENTARY TUTORING
I don't know if I've mentioned this, but Charity has been tutoring at the Elementary school Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for the past couple weeks. She overheard me talking about the Community Council meeting where all the teachers were wishing they could have more aides in their classes and more help. She heard me talking about my idea to solicit help from the High School and Jr. High and have them offer TA jobs as a class. I had done that when I was in High School and thought it was pretty cool. Nobody seemed to go for that saying that they just aren't as reliable as someone who is getting paid. So anyway- Charity took it upon herself to email Mr. Denhalter and ask if she could come help at the school. He forwarded her email to the teachers and she was tutoring the next day! Mrs. McKenzie has taken full advantage of her offer as well as Mrs. Bradford. She's been having a lot of fun with it. I'm glad to see her doing something like that with her time. I just hope it doesn't get to be too much with her schedule or with looking for a job. Who knows though, I'm mostly just proud of her. She's a good girl and makes me look good in the process. 2-27-18
CHORALIER AUDITION
Cute Bradley decided at possibly the last minute, that he was going to tryout for Choraliers. He was calling Bridger the night before asking him what they required of them at the audition so that he could get a song ready if he needed too! Funny boy. But luckily he didn't have to bring anything, they taught them a song there, and then had them sing it in groups. He felt really good about it and seemed optimistic. I was just so proud of him even sticking his neck out there and trying out! Makes me so happy to see my kids and their bravery! I wish I could go back and have half the courage they do. They are amazing. Bradley included! Cool kid. 2-27-18
BLUE AND GOLD- CAMPING STYLE
So this Blue and Gold Banquet has been much anticipated. Mostly just to get it over with because I was getting really impatient with Bro. Gines' texts, but once the day finally came, it was actually a really fun night. Bro. Gines went all out on the decor. Had half of the gym set up like scene from a campout. Tent, trees, sleeping bag, fire pit. It was pretty cool I have to admit. He had this awesome backdrop of Delicate Arch too. So that was super cool. The Primary Presidency was in charge of the food, so I of course asked Nate to make the Pulled Pork. I bought the coleslaw, rolls, chips, carrots, and made the S'mores dessert and Natalie and Barbara both made two pans of corn bread. It turned out really nice even with the Pulverized Pulled Pork dilemma, and was super easy being that it was a camping theme- I just set everything out in their containers. The evening went really smoothly. I was so glad. I am still not sure what was up with the Knot movie, but it was hilarious, so I think it worked. The best part of the night was when Bro. Gines sat down and played his guitar leading the Cubs in the Bear song. SO cool! I loved that part. They finished it off with a really quick cake walk which Noah was bummed when nobody got his and Nate's cheesecake. They had had an extra one in case someone forgot to bring one, and then put a number on it instead of leaving it out. So nobody got Noah's number. Nate was pretty bummed too, and started dishing it up so that people could sample it :). He's so cute with his food. Kind of an off night for him with the food though, too, so that was a bummer. (He stopped on his way home from the mid the next morning with a pork shoulder to do a redemption batch of that- he's so funny- but it really was night and day difference! Those darn instructions that told him to cook the meat for 60 hours rather than 20) I wish I'd been able to relax a little more that night- I feel like I was sort of MIA for Noah, but I think he still had fun and enjoyed the night enough. This is probably his last Blue and Gold! Kinda weird. Guess we'll be back at the beginning in a few years here though, with Jack. 2-27-18
LUKE REGISTRATION
Met up with Luke at the school for his registration. I was a few minutes late (again, but this time it wasn't my fault! I was bathing Molly and we'd gotten so into doing bubbles in the tub, I got distracted, so clearly it was Molly's fault :)), but we were with Mr. Peterson the Vice Principal (I think Brad had him too). I'm still not sure if this is just for them to get a feel for the parents and possible home life or not, because it seems silly to have to bring in the registration stuff in person to turn it in. You really don't do much with them. I guess I did ask him about Honors Science and who is teaching it. And basically told him we don't like Bridges and how can we keep Luke from getting him... yeah, awesome first (or second if he remembered) impression. I think he was right though, with that Accelerated Math class, he might be better off not doing Honors Science. Plus, Bridges is the only one who teaches it and I don't really want another year of him. He killed science for Brad. So anyway- another step toward the big Jr. High move!! I really can't believe he's old enough for all this!! Luke is one of my babies. He's always too young for what he's doing next. I wonder if we'll ever feel differently. I hope he's getting a little excited though. Even if he says he hates school, he's gotta be a little excited right? 2-28-18
CHORALIERS!!
Bradley made it!! He made Choraliers! So exciting! Couldn't be more proud! He's getting excited for when he has to sing with his choir while wearing a basketball jersey at the games next year :). 2-28-18
NEW BEGINNINGS
New Beginnings was a lot of fun this week. They did an Olympics theme and the Mia Maids were in charge, so it was really fun to see a lot of Charity and Kelly. They did a cute opening ceremonies video with the torch passing- slow mo- it was hilarious when Charity "tripped" and then not as hilarious when the slow mo of Kelly was a close up on her face and everyone was laughing. I don't think they knew it wasn't meant to be funny. She looked adorable though, and luckily handled the laughter really well. She's a good sport most of the time. Charity was one of the emcees and they both got to talk about some of the values. Kelly mad my day saying that I was someone who had integrity that she looks up to (Charity and I both), I hope that really is the case. They both said some great things. Then we got to hear from Jared Ward! I LOVED his talk! He did such a great job! So uplifting and motivating. I wish the boys had been there to hear him talking about goals. So cool. 2-28-18
JEWELRY FINDINGS, GRIT AND SHOES
Bradley's been asking me for weeks to take him to this rock store in Ogden to get some of the jewelry findings he needs to start selling his rock jewelry. So we bit the bullet (long drive) and just went up there Thursday. It was a long drive, but fun. We had Brad, Erika and Luke. We found the dumpy little rock store and walked around for a while. They had a lot of cool stuff. None of liked the way it smelled, could have been the rotting fish tanks in the back or the smoke store next door, but it was not a good smell. But we were able to get a few things. Not really what we'd hoped to find there. They were out of grit too, which was a bummer. But we did get a few things and got Brad all excited to do some things with his latest polishings. We then stopped at Shopko to get Erika some shoes. It was fun to walk around with the three of them. They're all funny in the store. We didn't find any shoes for Erika there but we did find some Cadbury Mini Eggs :). We had to run into Payless in Layton to find Erika's shoes and while we were there, we found two more pairs of shoes for Erika (total three), a pair of Sunday shoes for Luke and some Sunday shoes for Jack as well! Talk about finding what we were looking for... and more! It was a very productive trip though. I was glad after our rock store venture. We made it home for some Pulled Pork sandwiches- redemption style! 3-1-18
MCKINLEY RECEPTION
Cute McKinley Ball got married on Friday!!! I can't believe Kim is a mother-in-law!!! She's going to be the best. Nate and I got all dressed up and went to the reception. Mostly to see Kim, but there were a couple other people who were fun to run into. And a couple who I didn't need to see for at least another couple years, HA! jk. I got to say hi to Maureen Brinkerhoff and Sis. Rust (can't remember her first name to save my life- maybe Suzanne?), she was SO complimentary!! She made me feel like a million bucks. Which then reminded me of how she had wanted me to marry her son when we were both in the singles ward together. Hilarious. Nate talked with Phil Bangerter- from work- while I got confronted by Bill Taylor... not my favorite... he was trying so hard to be nice and just put the past behind us and I was too, but talking with him and the odd look-aways from his wife are always awkward. I guess I deserve it. Kinda. But I don't love him asking me if I am "done? Is eight enough finally??" all sarcastically. I'm sure people think that's a funny thing to say, but if they knew the storm that is going on in my mind and spirit 24/7 about that subject, they might think twice before even bring it up. So that was fun (sarcasm). But then I got to see Kim!! She looked so pretty and so happy!! I love seeing her so happy! She "more than loves" Courtney, the bride, and her family loves "our McKinley" so she has every reason to be happy! Which she deserves! More than anyone I know. I'm so happy for her. And for McKinley. Such a cute couple. 3-2-18
DATE NIGHT
After the reception Nate and I went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. It was fun to be all dressed up together and out just having fun. Different. Came home and watched the Jazz game! They're doing so good this year! I can't believe we went to the ONLY game they've lost in a long time! 3-2-18
BASKETBALL
Noah's game was pretty intense. He played like a pro! He was everywhere all at once. They lost by a lot, but totally stopped the other team in the second half. They only made two shots the second half which was pretty amazing. Our team worked so hard! There's just so many inexperienced boys on the team. Luke's game was kind of hard to watch as well. They did really good though. Luke especially. He made a few points. Grandma Hatch was there to watch and then stayed to watch Brad's as well. His game was frustrating for a lot of reasons. It's hard watching Chet's lack of strategy when it comes to putting the boys in. Also, the refs were HORRIBLE!!! It was a sad game. Brad was bummed. We were all bummed really. Better luck next week. 3-3-18
KATE'S BAPTISM
Erika got to go to Kate's baptism even though it was during Brad's game. I was glad she was okay with going alone because I really wanted her to be there for it. She loved it. 3-3-18

Things to Remember Week of 2-18-18
PRESIDENT'S DAY
It snowed like crazy the day of and the day before President's Day, so we had lots of snow to play in all day! It was not as fun as we could have imagined since most of the kids are not fully equipped with snow gear as we have not had almost ANY snow this winter. So that was a little bit of a bummer for Erika, but everyone that could made their way over to the park to sled. The highlight of the day was bumming around not doing much at all. I kind of loved it. There were no complaints and no ideas of anything better either, so I think it was well accepted by most of us :). 2-19-18
FHE
LUKE'S SHOTS
Took Luke to get his Junior High shots this week! That was exciting :). He was super nervous. Even admitted it. But totally toughed it out when the time came. He looked sad and in pain, but didn't cry at all. He was quite the comedian to the doctor too, which was very entertaining for me. He didn't love how the shots felt even a week later. Not fun, but at least it's done. 2-20-18
7TH GRADE ORIENTATION
Nate and I both attended orientation with Luke. It was exactly the same as it always is :). Fourth time's the charm... or maybe the 7th or 8th time will be?? Just kidding. In Luke's words, when I asked him how he felt about that, "I made this!" as he held up his little paper monster mouth that he made out of the program. He is hilarious. I think he mostly felt like it was boring, but also, I think it was a good thing for him to get him pointed in that direction. He doesn't love school, so I'm hoping he will be able to survive Jr. High. We'll see. It was pretty cool to see the choir sing "Thunder" 2-21-18
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
I've decided that there are some signs of crappy teachers at the Jr. High. And they are mostly noticeable during conferences. Some of the crappy teachers are only crappy for certain kids, and I realize that, but some of them, as we have witnessed first hand, are just crappy teachers. I don't doubt that they are wonderful people. I just can't suggest that my kids sign up for certain classes knowing that they will end up with a certain teacher. I've made some suggestions to Luke that I had to change after parent teacher conferences. We did have a nice time talking with a couple of Brad's teachers. He's starting to get the hang of the junior high scene. 2-22-18
TEACHER INSERVICE
We had an awesome Teacher Inservice on Thursday night. We had a good turn out, lots of pizza and great words of advice from of few of the teachers and Barbara. I felt a little dumb that Barbara asked everyone in the Presidency to say something except me, but I volunteered to say the prayer to make up for it :). Hopefully that was okay. I can't help but feel like the weak link in our presidency. I am trying to step it up, but I don't feel like I'm ever going to be enough. I realize this is my own problem and probably not really the case, but I guess any reason to try to be better is a good thing. It was a nice night though. 2-22-18
BASKETBALL
So I went to Women's basketball for the second time (unfortunately, this was the last time, the season is over). It's tough, I really love the idea of playing basketball with everyone and have fun doing it, but at the same time- there are a few people that make me feel like I don't belong there. I guess I don't really care, that's why I kept going, but I don't see myself showing up to the tournament nights. Who knows. Anyway. I wish it could be different. 2-22-18
JAZZ GAME
Nate and I got to spend our Friday night together at the Jazz game! It's always so much fun to go watch the games there. This was his tickets from my dad, so they were lower bowl which is always awesome. It's fun to see Nate get way into it, even when we're losing, and it's a lot of fun to just be in the arena, with the Jazz Bear and all the fun excitement. I love people watching too :). We unfortunately, had to sit by some Portland fans, which was funny and annoying at the same time, but they weren't too bad. Really they were kind of funny. But anyway. The game was somewhat painful to watch- the refs were horrible even though it was one of their birthdays- and we lost by a lot, but still a fun night with my sweetie!! 2-23-18
BASKETBALL
The boys are having a really great season this year! It's been a lot of fun to watch them play. Noah's team struggles a little since a lot of them it's their first time playing. I feel like Noah has to carry them a little. He works SO HARD the ENTIRE time, getting all the steals and lots of their points... it's fun to watch him play, but they haven't had a really winning season so far. Luke just keeps getting better and better and has a lot of fun playing. He really has become quite the star. Especially this week. He made a lot of his team's points and plenty of steals, as well as some stellar defense. His team won by a lot and that was fun. Bradley is doing great as well! We had a super fun game this week, playing against Hedquist- I can't express how fun it is to beat him- Grandpa Hatch and Dawn were there, video taping several of Brad's awesome plays, lots of fun to show him off :). Chet told Brad that he was key in winning that game because he knew where to be and what to do. Pretty cool considering Chet doesn't offer a whole lot of compliments. You know he means it :). It's been fun though. We've got two games left for each of the boys. I'm always sad when basketball season is over. I need to remember to bring my camera one of these times though. 2-24-18
NANA'S CAR
Nate couldn't start the car Saturday morning. Always a little stressful. He looked at it for quite a while and then since my dad was coming to Brad's game that afternoon, I asked if he would come a little early to look at it. They determined it was the starter and then Bro. Floisand came over and said that the starter was on crooked. He ended up tightening it later in the day and sure enough- it started right up and worked great! We were pretty lucky to have dodged that issue. It was nice of Nate's friend from work, Alan, to let him borrow his car when he thought we were going to have to do some major repairs. We have so many good people around us to help and lift burdens. I feel so grateful for that. 2-24-18
FERDINAND
I took the kids to go see Ferdinand. It was funny to bribe them with it, or I mean, use it as a reward since I knew full well that I was the only one who was anxious to see that movie :). Ever since the trailers, I've been dying to see it. I was so excited to see it at the dollar theater. So the kids got their jobs done and rooms cleaned so that we could go :). (win/win- see how I did that :).) I'm pretty sure they all loved it. Jack's giggles gave that away. I think I even heard Luke and Noah laugh a few times. Bradley was super fun/sweet with Molly the entire time, even helped her get a "new one" booster seat in the middle of the movie. She actually sat there and watched the entire thing with only a couple interruptions! Pretty remarkable really. I was glad. It was such a cute show! I loved it :). I love the part when he's in the China shop. Cracks me up. I like the message, but mostly the fun characters and funny jokes. Good stuff. Charity didn't get to come with us because she was at Walker's surprise party that she helped his mom pull off :). She had a blast though, so I doubt she felt left out :). We stopped to get hot chocolate on the way home- it was snowing like a blizzard when we got out of the movie and almost none of them had coats on!!! Good times. 2-24-18

Bradley was super fun/sweet with Molly the entire time, even helped her get a "new one" booster seat in the middle of the movie. She actually sat there and watched the entire thing with only a couple interruptions! Pretty remarkable really. I was glad. It was such a cute show! I loved it :). I love the part when he's in the China shop. Cracks me up. I like the message, but mostly the fun characters and funny jokes. Good stuff. Charity didn't get to come with us because she was at Walker's surprise party that she helped his mom pull off :). She had a blast though, so I doubt she felt left out :). We stopped to get hot chocolate on the way home- it was snowing like a blizzard when we got out of the movie and almost none of them had coats on!!! Good times. 2-24-18

Things to Remember Week of 2-11-18
LUKE'S FIRST TIME PASSING THE SACRAMENT
I will admit, I teared up just a little while I watched Luke passing The Sacrament for the first time. That is just so special! I remember when he was little, trying to distract him from being irreverent, telling him to look at the Deacons and that he was someday going to be twelve and would pass The Sacrament just like them. Not really believing it myself, of course, that he would ever really be that old! But here he is! Twelve and ordained and passing The Sacrament. He did such a great job. It was a packed room and I watched as he ran out of water and wasn't sure what to do, asked his friend Austin, who quietly told him what to do, and he did it without a hiccup. I was so proud of him! He really is growing up so fast. They all are. It's fun to see both my boys walking around together. I can't believe Heavenly Father has trusted me with such awesome boys who love their Heavenly Father and want to serve him. What a blessing. 2-11-18
LACROSSE TRYOUTS
Kelly participated in Lacrosse tryouts this week! Pretty nerve-racking for all of us! They were supposed to do Monday, Tuesday then cuts then a Wednesday tryout as well, but instead, they all just went til Wednesday. We found out about the teams on Thursday. Kelly didn't make Varsity, but I really thing JV will be a better experience for her. She has improved so much and developed so much in the last two years. I'm pretty proud of her. She seemed okay with the decision, but a little let down. I think she's good enough they just have to give Seniors and Juniors top priority. Sophomores too for that matter, she's only a Freshman! But I get it. She's so brave to tryout and be involved. So cool. Here's to Spring season!! Can't wait! 2-12-18
ZERO FATALITITES
Charity had to attend this little meeting for her driver's ed class, with a parent. I got to go with her and I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. As well as the reminder of how to avoid distractions and be a better driver. I couldn't believe some of the statistics. I was surprised about the low number of car deaths in Utah. Also, the statistics about how much the new DL guidelines have changed things and prevented a lot of incidents. So impressive. That's the kind of change I would love to be a part of and be involved in. The change that actually changes things for the better and has an important impact. I can't believe how dangerous it is for all the passengers in the car when someone (Anyone) is not wearing a seatbelt. It doesn't just effect you. Pretty cool. I talked Charity off the cliff she was on, after the disturbing videos, I think she's still on board to getting a license. We'll see :). 2-12-18
FHE
We had a late FHE with my lesson about choices- spurred by the zero fatalities thing- and how much our choices effect those around us, especially our family. Then the big discussion about gender identity issues. I had watched a video earlier that day about Canada and some of the new things they are doing to confuse kids about their genders and just wanted to set my kids straight. We coined the phrase, "It's in your jeans!" Could be genes or jeans, but you get it right? You can look in your pants and SEE your gender! Even as a 20 week old fetus, your gender is determined and very visible, how could anyone be confused?!!!! Ugh. Bugs me. But anyway. They seemed to understand and get it. Hopefully that was enough of a foundation for a while. We watched the Jazz game for our activity. 2-12-18
TWO YEAR WELL CHECK
Molly had her two year well check this week. A little late, but that's better than never. It was nice to get the Doctor's okay on her hips and walking. She is doing better! And actually, we were both feeling like her legs are almost the opposite of bowlegged now. So that was a relief. She is growing too, which was a fun surprise :). She does eat better lately, so it shouldn't surprise me too much. 2-13-18
VALENTINE'S DAY
We had a really nice Valentine's Day! Not because of anything I did- I totally slacked off this year- it was weird! But I think it was still lovely. Nothing special for breakfast, except Nate had cooked some dippy eggs in his sou vide cooker. I had to get to the school early for Luke's class pancake breakfast. That was fun. I didn't really do much, but it was fun to stand around and talk with moms. Then I came home to get Molly and she and I went up to the church for playgroup. We totally could have done Jack's party, but thought it was going to be at the same time. That was a bummer to miss that. And I'll probably never live it down! "Why weren't you there?!!" Then we all went up to the mall for some last minute gift shopping. Jack had his little bag of Valentine's and was enjoying seeing what each of his classmates gave him. Super cute. I got Nate some new cologne. Original, I know. Would have been even less original if I'd remembered that Fanzz is up in Ogden, cuz I usually get him a Jazz shirt. But we headed home. Nate was awake so we all went down to Mrs. Cavanaughs to get the kids a little gift from Nate and I. They all got their own chocolate covered gummi bears :). We napped a little until Erika and Luke's parties. I went and did Sweetheart Floats in Erika's class, and Nate went down to Luke's class for the straw/conversation hearts game. Too bad they were fifteen minutes late for that party! Wish I could just get things right sometimes. But it was a fun afternoon. We waited for Kelly to get home from tryouts and then did our family Valentine's activity that I planned (last minute, but it was my idea :) ). Nate doesn't love going out on Valentine's because of the crowds, so we did a family thing instead. We finally did the activity I have been wanting to do with everyone for a long time. I put everyone in couples :). Then each couple picked a part of the meal and a letter out of a hat. We went to Bowmans and shopped as fast as we could and came home, prepared the food, served it too each other, and ate it. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! I really loved it and the kids all thought it would be a great thing to do every year as a new tradition. We'll see :). So Nate and Molly got P and Appetizer. They made Pulled Pork and Pickles on Pita Pizzas (extra points for all the P's- shoulda known Nate would blow us all out of the water). Those were delicious! I'd totally eat those again, maybe without the pickles though. Jack and I had H for the Main Dish. We had a funny time shopping. Jack rejected EVERY POSSIBLE IDEA I threw out there and just kept on going back to corn dogs! "I wish we had C, then we could get corn dogs." I had been telling the kids about the waffles I got one of the times I did it in High School, and had found a HUGE box of frozen ones for super cheap, and they happened to be "Homestyle" ones, so I convinced Jack to get those for dinner. He didn't LOVE the idea, but it didn't get the no that everything else had. Then when I was telling Nate about his funny corndog fettish, Nate suggested Hot dogs! Duh! Why didn't I think of that! Jack loved the idea, so off we went to get some hot dogs and buns instead. I still kept the waffles though- too good to pass up. We got the bacon and swiss ones. Delish! Then Kelly and Noah had our sides. They got K. There is a shortage of K sides in the world. They settled on Kettle chips and Kernel Corn in a can :). Pretty good choices though! Charity and Luke had the letter N for drink and bought a big thing of Nestle Quik! Along with some Nilla wafers to dip in it :). Pretty clever. Then Bradley and Erika had M for the dessert. They bought mini marshmallows, m&ms, and Muddy buddies and mixed them all together to make their M dessert :). Very creative. I think they had almost as many M's as Nate and Molly had P's. It was SUCH a fun dinner!! I loved it. Something different. As we were finishing up dinner, Max Patane surprised Erika with lots of cute gifts and a balloon. SO CUTE! And then before we started the Jazz game Nate and I exchanged gifts in front of the kids :). Ended up being a fun way to do it. We usually wait, but I liked this. Nate gave me a really cute butterfly necklace. I gave him the cologne and a box of candy. So I'd say the day was a success. 2-14-18
LUNCH WITH STEVE
Nate, Molly, Jack and I took Steve out to lunch as his birthday gift. That was a lot of fun. We went to Panda Express. It was fun to talk with Steve and Fun to show him the song Greatest Showman from the sound track on the way home. I think he liked it :). 2-15-18
DATE WITH NATE
Nate and I got to go out for Valentine's Day on Thursday night. I took him to Tepanyaki. That place is so delicious and so much fun! I love it. We got to return the favor to a little girl who was celebrating her 10th birthday. We handed her the little cash Nate had on him and told her happy birthday. It was fun after seeing what that meant to Noah on his birthday dinner there :). Fun stuff. We stopped at Target on the way home to get Brad a better 5 subject notebook- dumb Walmart ones didn't work out. Then we ate our delicious chocolate covered strawberries that night. 2-15-18
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TUTORING
Charity overheard me telling Nate about our Community Council meeting at the school where all the teachers were telling us what they want us to spend the Trustlands funds on. Most of the teachers talked about Aides. There is a shortage. I mentioned that I suggested soliciting help from the High School or junior high for help, but that idea was rejected. Charity took it upon herself, though, to email Mr. Denhalter and ask what she can do to help the teachers. This week she spent three days over there, helping out the first grade teachers. We'll see how it goes :). The big deterent was how "unreliable" unpaied Aides are. We'll see :). 2-15-18
FRIDAY
Nate had a mandatory over time shift on Friday evening. I was still not feeling real great and spent most of the afternoon/evening driving people places. I seriously had to get in the car like twice an hour! Time to start combining trips really. I took most of the kids over to the church to play basketball for an hour too. I think it's okay to do that, but I felt a little weird the whole time we were there, so I'm not sure it was. We grabbed some Little Caesar's for dinner and came home and watched Hercules. Kind of a laid back evening. 2-16-18
SATURDAY
We spent the entire morning cleaning our house! It was wonderful! I got a TON of laundry done and folded, and then when I went into the little girls' room to switch up their dressers (I've been saying I'd do that for months), Erika and I kind of got buried in all their mess and cleaning it up that in the end, we didn't even get their clothes switched over! It was kind of funny really, but at least their room is clean! Like REALLY clean! And lots of stuff was removed, thrown away, and DI-ed. Always a good feeling. She has some hoarding tendencies as well as very "generous" siblings who share their excess with her. We all went to the movie Peter Rabbit as kind of a reward for getting bedrooms and such done, and then we when we got home, Erika and I finished her clothes :). It was a super productive day!! I loved it. Well, until about 2:00 in the morning when I realized I had missed Heidi's baby shower. Still beating myself up about that one. Unforgivable really. It was an okay day though. 2-17-18
BIRTHDAY DATE WITH LUKE
Luke and I got to go on his birthday date finally. We'd rescheduled it from the week before because of Steve's birthday and because I wasn't feeling 100% yet. We went to Pizza Pie Cafe, and then RUSH Fun-plex. Lots of fun!! We did the bumper cars, Blasters, Laser Tag, Mini Golf, and finished it all off with three games of bowling! I don't think I've ever played that many games of bowling back to back. It was so much fun though! We kept joking about my mini golf strategies "using Geometry", and had a lot of laughs. We stopped at Iceberg on our way home and got "mini" shakes. They were gimongous!! I just love Luke and spending time with him makes me happy. Wish we could do that more often. 2-17-18

Things to Remember Week of 2-4-18
LUKE GOT THE PRIESTHOOD
Nate found out that morning that he was not going to be able to miss work and that staying til church was over for Luke to get ordained was not an option. So he frantically made arrangements to have Luke ordained just following Sacrament Meeting. Luckily, we have an awesome Bishop and he made sure that this could happen. It was such a nice little time in the Bishop's office. We got to hear all the wonderful things Heavenly Father blessed Luke with. He was ordained by Nate. This was really special and we enjoyed it. I think Bradley might be the most excited for him, he can't wait to have him pass the sacrament with him and collect fast offerings. Luke is excited too. I love his humility and his faith. He really does have such a solid testimony of the Gospel. I have never heard anything wavering coming out of this kid. It's cool. He went to Deacon's Quorum for the first time and liked it! 2-4-18
100'S DAY
I got to go celebrate 100's day with Jack in his class. That was a lot of fun. I got to run the station where you predict and then count how many chews it takes to eat a starburts- more than 100 or less than 100. Pretty fun stuff. Jack loved having me there. 2-5-18
LUKE'S FIRST TEMPLE TRIP
I really loved this temple trip with Luke. First of all, it was super cute when he found out that we were in fact going to do baptisms. He had no idea that's what we were going to do :). I'm not sure I ever explained any of that to him previously, so how could he know other than observing his sibs, but Luke's not always the most observant :). So on the way to the temple, we talked about it all. I think he was a little surprised that he would be getting wet while we were there :). Funny boy. I was SO grateful that we went even though we had been slightly discouraged by the "ward baptism only night". We don't have the option to go on Saturdays, so this was a HUGE blessing! They weren't even that busy, so I didn't have to feel guilty about it the whole time. Such a blessing. I think Heavenly Father did that just for me. Luke seemed to enjoy it. I loved his response when I asked him how he liked it. He thought it was cool! He seemed pretty calm and relaxed most of the time, very comfortable, so I was glad about that. He let me watch him do baptisms, going first, just for me. I loved his cute face each time he came out of the water. The sweet old man working the desk couldn't help but look over at me and then relished in the moment with me. So sweet. I just LOVE taking my littles to the temple. It's too precious to not feel like this Church and all that goes on in the temple is real. Luke handled things like a pro. Came out pretty fast too. We stopped for some ice cream (and dinner for everyone else) on the way home. What a neat night. Good memories. 2-6-18
MOM'S SHOULDN'T GET SICK
I really wish I could stop getting sick. It's just not the same for a mom. I have carried on pretty much as normal this week while feeling like garbage. I've been really resentful. I wish there was a way to put life on hold while I get better. Makes it really hard to see an end. I did produce and I think this is when my lungs really took hold of this bug. Coughing like crazy. Then I went to my dumb PTA board meeting which ended up being really annoying minus the fact that Amy Norton is finally considering being President. I wish people wouldn't wait to be begged- I wish they would just step up and do it. Then I came home and tried to rest up for the temple that night. Wednesday was much the same except that I just bummed around until the Community Council Meeting that evening. Drugging myself any time I started to feel crappy again. Then it was time for Citrus Pear. Luckily the Day Quil has been pretty good at controlling the coughing and pain. I fought my way through the superhero cupcakes for the Jr. High Janitors and counselors, which was kinda crazy. Not sure I should have made those, but I'd committed to doing it weeks ago- I couldn't leave Terrie hanging. Luckily Nate was home Friday. I was able to just sit and veg. The entire day. Much needed of course. 2-7-18
SUPER HERO CUPCAKES
About two weeks ago, Terrie Tenney asked me to make two dozen cupcakes for the janitors and counselors at the Jr. High and wanted them this week. I probably shouldn't have done them when I did, since I was sick, but I took every possible precaution to not pass any germs. But I have to admit, it wasn't my best work! Part of that was because the cutters I ordered online were less than the best. The Superman logo one didn't work at all, so that left me with only two (Captain America shield and Batman logo), which left them feeling kind of plain. Bummed me out a little, but I didn't dare cancel on her. I was in the shower when she came to get them and she never said another word about them, so I'm not sure what that means. And unfortunately, I didn't get one picture. duh. This is what happens when I'm not feeling good. Hopefully they liked them. $50 worth. 2-8-18
GRANDMA RUTHIE'S
Charity and Kelly had the opportunity to go to Grandma Ruthie's to kind of look out for her while Jen was up in Boise. They ordered pizza (expensive pizza- I still want to find out if that guy scammed them or not), talked with Grandma, and sat there :). Probably on their phones no doubt. I was really glad they had that opportunity though. Also, can't forget to mention that Charity drove Nate's car all the way there! Her first time on the freeway!! And there was even some traffic! 2-9-18
Nate found out that morning that he was not going to be able to miss work and that staying til church was over for Luke to get ordained was not an option. So he frantically made arrangements to have Luke ordained just following Sacrament Meeting. Luckily, we have an awesome Bishop and he made sure that this could happen. It was such a nice little time in the Bishop's office. We got to hear all the wonderful things Heavenly Father blessed Luke with. He was ordained by Nate. This was really special and we enjoyed it. I think Bradley might be the most excited for him, he can't wait to have him pass the sacrament with him and collect fast offerings. Luke is excited too. I love his humility and his faith. He really does have such a solid testimony of the Gospel. I have never heard anything wavering coming out of this kid. It's cool. He went to Deacon's Quorum for the first time and liked it! 2-4-18
100'S DAY
I got to go celebrate 100's day with Jack in his class. That was a lot of fun. I got to run the station where you predict and then count how many chews it takes to eat a starburts- more than 100 or less than 100. Pretty fun stuff. Jack loved having me there. 2-5-18
LUKE'S FIRST TEMPLE TRIP
I really loved this temple trip with Luke. First of all, it was super cute when he found out that we were in fact going to do baptisms. He had no idea that's what we were going to do :). I'm not sure I ever explained any of that to him previously, so how could he know other than observing his sibs, but Luke's not always the most observant :). So on the way to the temple, we talked about it all. I think he was a little surprised that he would be getting wet while we were there :). Funny boy. I was SO grateful that we went even though we had been slightly discouraged by the "ward baptism only night". We don't have the option to go on Saturdays, so this was a HUGE blessing! They weren't even that busy, so I didn't have to feel guilty about it the whole time. Such a blessing. I think Heavenly Father did that just for me. Luke seemed to enjoy it. I loved his response when I asked him how he liked it. He thought it was cool! He seemed pretty calm and relaxed most of the time, very comfortable, so I was glad about that. He let me watch him do baptisms, going first, just for me. I loved his cute face each time he came out of the water. The sweet old man working the desk couldn't help but look over at me and then relished in the moment with me. So sweet. I just LOVE taking my littles to the temple. It's too precious to not feel like this Church and all that goes on in the temple is real. Luke handled things like a pro. Came out pretty fast too. We stopped for some ice cream (and dinner for everyone else) on the way home. What a neat night. Good memories. 2-6-18
MOM'S SHOULDN'T GET SICK
I really wish I could stop getting sick. It's just not the same for a mom. I have carried on pretty much as normal this week while feeling like garbage. I've been really resentful. I wish there was a way to put life on hold while I get better. Makes it really hard to see an end. I did produce and I think this is when my lungs really took hold of this bug. Coughing like crazy. Then I went to my dumb PTA board meeting which ended up being really annoying minus the fact that Amy Norton is finally considering being President. I wish people wouldn't wait to be begged- I wish they would just step up and do it. Then I came home and tried to rest up for the temple that night. Wednesday was much the same except that I just bummed around until the Community Council Meeting that evening. Drugging myself any time I started to feel crappy again. Then it was time for Citrus Pear. Luckily the Day Quil has been pretty good at controlling the coughing and pain. I fought my way through the superhero cupcakes for the Jr. High Janitors and counselors, which was kinda crazy. Not sure I should have made those, but I'd committed to doing it weeks ago- I couldn't leave Terrie hanging. Luckily Nate was home Friday. I was able to just sit and veg. The entire day. Much needed of course. 2-7-18
SUPER HERO CUPCAKES
About two weeks ago, Terrie Tenney asked me to make two dozen cupcakes for the janitors and counselors at the Jr. High and wanted them this week. I probably shouldn't have done them when I did, since I was sick, but I took every possible precaution to not pass any germs. But I have to admit, it wasn't my best work! Part of that was because the cutters I ordered online were less than the best. Things to Remember Week of 1-28-18
CRYING
I could NOT STOP CRYING on Sunday. It was a REALLY ROUGH DAY!! It carried over to Monday a little as well, but luckily I've stopped by Tuesday. Everything I could think about would bring me to tears. It was torture and kind of embarrassing in Primary. I had gotten things under control somewhat and then Barbara had to go and ask me how I was doing and insist that I not lie to her. She's too cool really, but I burst into tears. I wish I knew what was going on. I hope it's just the winter blues. I don't think I could handle hormones that do that every single month. Poor Jack was feeling it as well. Wouldn't leave my side. My mom and Simon came over for dinner. Good times. 1-28-18
MONDAY
Monday was kind of hard too. Not too many happy moments. I will say that Jack and Molly were some of them though. They are too sweet. Poor Jack had a tooth ache and I think that's why he was so difficult in the morning. He would not go to school. I let him stay home, but he had to stay on the couch the ENTIRE school day. He ended up taking a nap. When kindergarten time was up, I let him get off and play a game with me. But I think it was bad enough because he went just fine the next day. I did have a really nice phone call with Nate though, that kind of perked things up. I was able to shower finally and did some thinking. I hope things will just get better from here on out. Life is tricky. I feel like I am just really in an adjusting phase right now. Kind of like after you have a baby and you're getting used to new routines and a new way of doing things. It's weird that it feels that way- the only new thing we've really added to our lives is High School. So I don't know. But that's what I decided. I'm going to work on adjusting now. And doing it with a smile. We'll see how it goes. 1-29-18
BOOK FAIR
Well, I'm working the book fair again even though I said I wouldn't. Kind of annoying. Not as annoying as a book fair that is on days when parents aren't even at the school!! We had almost nobody come for the last hour of the two shifts I worked. My nitpicking, ineficiency noticing brain was going berzerk with all the alarms going on in my head about how it is run. Oh well. Not much I can do about it now. Just VERY frustrating. I did have fun visiting with Jami and Becky. 1-30-18
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
We had awesome Parent Teacher Conferences again this time! I love love LOVE that my kids enjoy learning, and do their best to listen and participate in school! They make me happy. Hearing about how they are doing at school makes me happy. They all are at or above reading level and doing great in math! Luke is good to go with his typing and won't have to take it in Jr. High. They're all just so awesome. And I can say that here because it's my blog :). I really am so proud of them. 1-31-18
TEMPLE WITH BECKY
Becky and I went to the temple to do initiatories. It was awesome. I loved that there was quite a wait and she and I got to just sit there and talk. Grandma Mottishaw had to be there this time :). I ran into Andrea's mom just before I finished. That was interesting. 2-1-18
LUNCH WITH LUKE
Luke opted out of Birthday tables this time and went with going out to lunch with Mom and Dad (And Molly and Jack of course). We went up to IHOP. It was a nice time with him and a good reminder of what a cool kid he is. I am so excited for him to get the priesthood. I think this is going to be such a cool thing for him. 2-2-18
