Hatch Party

DAY 4
We went to Emily's for some free stuff and socializing.  Picked up the boys from grandma's house.  Came home for some lunch, playing with friends, cards, and to let the repair guy fix our dryer- YAY! (and also not yay- I'm still not sure if I'm happy to do laundry or not :)  but I did get almost a week break from it :)-- still not sure if that is good or bad! HA!)  Then we made our salads and headed off to the Hatch Party at John and Heidi's.  We had a great time eating, swimming, and not swimming in the poop (not a typo, someone pooped in the pool so we got out :) )  Erika and Noah had fun with Uncle John, Charlie and Alvin in the "deep end".  Jack insisted that he play in the "warm tub" (it wasn't too hot for kids) because the pool was so cold.  Molly and I were stuck together the whole evening :).  She was being super cute and enjoyed going back and forth from the cold pool to the warm pool.  Til the poop incident.  I found the poop when I got out to go get my camera (and the couple in the hot tub who were loudly complaining about kids being in there- ugh) and take some pictures of everyone, so I didn't get any of them actually in the pool- but I did get a few of everyone sitting around.  And Steve got some of his shoe.  It's been a lot of fun to get to spend so much time with the Hatches.  Especially for Noah- he really loves Charlie and Alvin.  6-29-18

Me and the Littlests

ME AND THE LITTLESTS
So with Nate, Brad, Luke, Charity and Kelly all gone to their things all week- that leaves just the other half of us home together!  It's been an interesting two days so far.  It's just such a different dynamic!  For one thing- I cannot run little errands here and there whenever I please- I have to load them all up and take them with me which we all don't seem to enjoy all that much.  Poor Jack is not loving having to go places.  He's gotten very used to his lifestyle of staying home with whichever big kid is staying home.  And Molly... she is a handful and there's not a lot of extra big hands to help out with her.  I must say that Noah and Erika have totally stepped it up and they are trying their best to fill the big kid roles.  I don't think they really like it, but they're doing good.  We miss the big kids for a lot of reasons, one of mine being that I'm starting to get my ego back-- HA! Just kidding- they don't make fun of me THAT much.  I'm kidding.  But really- I could go on and on about how much I miss them.  But I do think that these times are good for everyone.  It's good for the little kids to experience this position.  We've done a lot of fun things together to make up for everyone's absence and I've realized there's a lot of things they enjoy doing- easy things- that the big kids wouldn't care for, that we've been able to do!  So that's been good.  Plus, I'm going to say it- there's definitely less fighting.  There.  That's all I'll say about that.  So Monday, after the kids played with their friends- we decided to roast hot dogs for dinner (see what I mean about easy!).  Chips and Hot dogs for dinner :).  We then got the idea to make S'mores too!  And then while we were down by the creek decided it was the perfect setting for FHE.  So Noah gave us a lesson on Repentance and Baptism.  He's so cute when he's the big brother.  Everyone loved it.  I could have done without all the weird bugs.  But whatever.  It was a lot of fun.  Jack cried when we started cleaning up and putting the fire out.  I was a little jealous when the kids kept talking about what the Maughans do when they're roasting hot dogs and stuff, and I realized they've done that more with them than with us.  But oh well.  Then it occurred to me that we are really blessed to have such a good family full of kids our kids' ages for our kids to spend time in their home.  It's definitely not always the case.  We are very blessed.  So after our S'mores we ran to the craft store because I needed some thread and we ended up picking up some little wood craft things for them to paint the next day.  That was a lot of fun.  Minus Molly screaming.  Then we got home and the kids cleaned up the kitchen while I set up the projector movie!  We watched Monster Trucks and had a great time together all of us on the tramp!  Tuesday I had to get up early and clean the garage for Produce which I did all by myself because everyone was still sleeping!  Kinda nuts!  Then we got breakfast and jobs out of the way and they got to paint the things we bought.  They were SO CUTE painting!  It's been a while since I did anything like that with those four.  Maybe never.  But they loved it, I loved it, it was fun!  I hope I always remember that.  They were so sweet with each other.  Noah painted a "Wish Frame" which is basically a bank in a frame- there's a slot at the top and then they made it so you can take out the back to put in a picture of something you want to save for.  Cute Noah put a picture of himself from his Baptism photo shoot, in his suit that he loved, and painted "Elder Maynes" on top of it- he wanted a bank to save up for his mission!!  Love that kid!  Erika painted a little house- looks like a dog house to me- totally cute- and she did it in the colors of her room so it would match :).  She helped Molly a lot as well, totally talking her through the whole process.  Such a good big sister.  Jack also painted a bank- his was clear in the front as well.  He sure enjoyed this!  I wasn't sure he would, but he got into it.  I loved it.  Molly (being the spoiled youngest kid that she is) got two things to paint- her M (which she has become completely obsessed with) and a cute box.  She was adorable too and super happy through the whole project.  It was cute to see how well she did, and how much attention to paid to a lot of the details.  Cute girl.  "I wike puhpoh and pink".  Then we spent the rest of the day playing with friends, and being bummed that friends couldn't play- poor Noah- and learning to play a new card game with mom- again, poor Noah- just kidding, he actually really liked this one, called James Bond.  I like it too- takes some strategy.  We ran to the store and delivered the PTA binder, then played some more.  See how busy we are when the big kids are gone :).  Then we did the unthinkable and had breakfast for dinner!!  The kids were ecstatic!  Even Jack!  And he ate!!!  It was so much fun for some reason!  I'm just loving the simplicity of these people of mine :).  And maybe it's me that makes it so I think things have to be bigger, maybe it's not the big kids... I don't know.  But these guys definitely get excited over some pretty simple things.  We ran off to Pack Meeting after that- then home to watch a movie while I went to my dumb Parent Board Meeting.  I just realized on my way home that being Secretary means that I have to be to every meeting.  EYE ROLL!!!  Ugh.  Oh well.  We'll see how it goes.  I can do something else next year maybe.  The littles survived on their own and everyone was alive and watching movies when I got home.  Not asleep, but alive :).  I'll take it.  And the house was still standing.  Helps that Molly went to bed before I left.  Still the best sleeper ever.  So anyway.  We've got big plans for the rest of the week- hopefully the kids survive being with me without the buffer of the big kids.  6-26-18

Hatch Week

Since the big girls were going to be gone later during the Hatch's visit, and so that Sarah could use my camera, they stopped by!  We all got to meet Izzy which was really exciting.  This girl is SO CUTE!!!  Look at those chubs!!  I can't get over how much she looks like Brent and Alvin.  In a girly way of course.  But anyway.  It was fun to see Charlie, Alvin and Savannah as well!  We all got a kick out of Charlie and the Rubik's cube!  He's really good!  Noah and I were both a little rusty to be competition.  6-21-18

Wednesday was a lot of fun.  I'm going to affectionately call this day Hatch Day because it was our main day to hang out with the Hatches.  We went really late to playgroup on Wednesday, so we only got to play with friends (or avoid playing with friends, I should say) for a little bit, but then headed off to the Zoo to meet up with Sarah and her kids.  Unfortunately, and embarrassingly, I missed the exit and had to go all the way to 3300 S. because I was buried in the carpool lane, so that was a bummer, we got there like 20 minutes late!  But after that it was smooth sailing.  They even let us in without any trouble.  Pretty cool.  We had a lot of fun looking at the animals and just being with them.  Sarah and I stopped in all the shady spots to catch up, and the kids were back to being best buds right away.  I love how kids do that.  It was a VERY hot day!  97 degrees is pretty hot for the zoo.  Who goes to the zoo in 97 degree temps?  But we all agreed that the drive to Pizza Pie Cafe was almost worse than the zoo!  Even with the AC blasting!  We met up with Grandpa and Steve for pizza.  That was a crazy little trip to PPC, but the kids loved being with their cousins and I got to make Steve laugh when I dumped my Ranch tainted lemon wedges onto his empty plate.  They were all Ranch-y, I couldn't squeeze them into my water after that.  He thought it was really funny for some reason, so I'll take it :).  It's not everyday I get to make him laugh.  Returning the favor.  I had a ginormous salad and thought I was doing so good with the KETO, but when I put it all into my ap, it was like 50 carbs?  I kinda think there was something wrong, or maybe it wasn't NET carbs... not sure.  Anyway.  After pizza, we went up to Grandpa Hatch's house.  The kids went through Grandpa's change collection and adopted all the ones they wanted. HA!  Great way to steal money from someone :).  Then we went and got snowcones together- kind of a tradition with us, Grandpa and the Hatches.  Lots of fun!  We made some pretty memorable messes!  I loved Savannah's "all the girls together!" poses :).  She's adorable.  Even with a red tongue.  Then Noah, Jack and the Hatch kids all slept over at Grandma Hatch's house!  Erika didn't want to leave Molly out, so she decided not to sleepover, so we took advantage of the opportunity to have a "girls night".  We went to Walmart, got some clothes since ours were all dirty (HA!  I wish this could always be the answer to that problem :).  Just kidding)- one more day without a dryer!  Then came home and watched Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken on my bed with my laptop.  Just the three of us :).  It was so much fun!  I loved Molly's little forced toot followed by, "I tooted in you bed" big smile :).  She's hilarious.  She fell asleep before it was over so I took her to bed.  Erika wanted to sleep with me :).  6-27-18

Week of 7-29-18

ABBI GADD HOMECOMING

I was so happy that we were able to go to Abbi's homecoming talk.  I have loved that my girls have had her to look up to.  Kelly just adored her before she left.  It is great to have such a good role model for them.  I loved hearing more about her mission and experience.  Scares me a little for when I have missionaries out, but I can tell it is the Lord's work and that he protects his missionaries.  7-29-18

LACIE'S PAINTING CLASS
Erika, Kate and Rachel all got to go to Lacie (Cole) Goddard's painting class on Monday!  It was so fun to see Lacie and the girls had a blast.  She's so cool.  7-30-18

CHICKEN POX?
Okay so Monday-ish- I finally took a closer look at the rash/spots Erika had on her body.  It started out with just a clump on her hand and I told her they were mosquito bites and wanted it to disappear, but it didn't.  I started doing a little research, and got a little concerned.  I decided to stop Googling and called the doctor's office.  The nurse I talked to basically confirmed what I was afraid of and pointed to Chicken Pox.  She gave me some ideas for symptom cover-up, but didn't offer much else by way of remedy.  So we went a day or so thinking she had chicken pox.  That was stressful.  I was doing what I could though and Erika seemed mostly happy that she was getting attention.  By Wednesday, things weren't really progressing like chicken pox and I started wondering if it could be something else, so I called the doctor again, mostly to make an appointment because there were several things she was going to have to miss if she was contagious that I didn't want her to miss if she wasn't!  (Activity days, soccer practice, etc.)  This time, the nurse on the phone said possibly poison oak??  So I started to think in that direction, but a few minutes later just wanted an appointment and some actual answers- so I brought her in!  They made us come in the back door in case it was contagious then he slowly looked at the rash on her tummy and chest and back, the lumps on her ankles and hands, and the spots all over everywhere else.  They were not consistent with chicken pox and he eventually settled on the linear placement and decided it was poison oak.  What a relief that was!!! I can't even express how relieved I was!  Poor Erika had to be overdosed with Benedryl and some steroids before it all went away and it was a couple days, but she wasn't contagious, so that was good news!  I'm sure glad my kids have all been vaccinated and that we don't run into chicken pox as much as we used to.  However, in my research, I learned that because of our chicken pox vaccine, our kids will need another vaccine for shingles when they are in their late 40's/50's because they have not built up the antibodies for it.  Fun fact.  7-31-18

ERIKA THE SOCCER PLAYER
She did it!  She went to her first soccer practice!!  She loved it and she was pretty good for a first timer!!  I'm so glad Emily told me how she was feeling about soccer so that she didn't miss out on this opportunity.  8-1-18

BASKETBALL CAMP FOR LUKE AND BRAD
We did the Kaysville Jr. basketball camp this week.  The boys seemed to have a good enough time.  Got shirts.  It's things like this that make me so happy my kids are passionate about things like their sports.  I am glad they get to participate in these things.  8-2-18

ROUND TWO AT THE FARMER'S MARKET
Our second time at the market was GREAT!  We earned twice as much money and ran out of meat right at the very end, so no leftovers!  It was awesome!  We had SO MANY family and friends come down.  So much fun to do this as a family!  8-2-18


HERRIMAN HIGH 5K
Jen and the Harris's invited us down for Evan's school's fundraiser 5K!  We all ran it as a family- except Jack and Molly they stayed back with Nancy and Grandma Ruthie.  What a fun time it was though!  I got to be with Kelly the whole time- she had to drag me through the finish line, but we made it!  And did pretty good if you ask me!  Then we sat there for about an hour as everyone won raffle prizes and stuff!  Which our kids love!  Erika got second place in her age division!  Pretty sweet!  Free shirts, free stuff, family and pancakes- can't go wrong.  8-3-18




GIRLS CAMP FOOD
I spent the rest of Saturday packing and shopping for girls camp food.  I was a wreck!  It was a big job that most of the work had to be done at the last minute or things would go bad!  So a little crazy, but I do remember saying a prayer and feeling calm and at peace for a good portion of the evening.  That was a huge blessing.  I'm really looking forward to girls camp and hoping I can do the right stuff with the food!  8-3-18

Week of 7-22-18

REVERENCE
The Bishop was trying to give a little Shpeel on reverence today in Sacrament meeting, taking things very seriously, and Molly turned into a little monster right in the middle of it.  Full on screaming!  It was actually almost funny, just the timing and all, but then of course, it continued through the whole meeting every time I brought her back in.  Not sure why I kept bringing her back in... well, except that I did want to hear Luke's talk and stuff... anyway.  Kinda funny, kinda not.  Little stinker has done so good the past few weeks, it was just an off week I guess, but man... the timing!  7-22-18

LUKE'S FIRST TALK IN SACRAMENT MEETING
I was SO PROUD of Luke today!!  I could not have been more impressed and pleased with the talk that he gave!  I pointed him at lds.org a couple weeks ago, told him to come ask if he had any questions or needed any ideas, and then I never heard another thing about it!  And the Sunday that he got the assignment, which happened to be two weeks ago, he was right on it!  I was so impressed.  He solidified things yesterday of course and made a few changes that he told me about, but he wrote that amazing talk, ALL BY HIMSELF!!  So impressive!  He just looked so grown up up there!  And such a profound talk about Patience.  I love that kids are given this opportunity in our church.   He has such a strong testimony.  So sincere and so firm.  Makes me so happy.  And so proud!  7-22-18

MOLLY
In the car after church, we got some funny information from Molly.
"I have uh owiE on mY BUM!"  And then the funniest part: "My teehuh waff aT mE!"  Basically she had an owie on her bum and told her "nurfey" teachers and they laughed at her!!  Made us all laugh.  And then try to stop because we realized what we were doing... Funny girl.  I love how she says Nursery right now!  So cute!  She's trying so hard to say her "th" sound too, but just not quite getting it.  I think "sh" is just as hard for her.  Cute girl.  7-22-18

PADDINGTON 2
The Maughans invited us to go see Paddington 2 with them on Monday morning.  That ended up being a lot of fun!  The theater had the really comfy reclining chairs and the kids all did really great!  The movie wasn't half bad either.  Such fun friends we have.  So grateful for them.  7-23-18

PIONEER DAY
We had a really nice and relaxed 24th of July.  We just went out to Lynn and Ali's for a barbecue with everyone.  That was really nice.  7-24-18

LUNCH WITH KRISTA
I got to go to lunch with my friend Krista on Thursday.  That was nice.  She has a way of making me feel normal.  I love hanging out with her.  7-26-18

KAYSVILLE FARMER'S MARKET PRACTICE ROUND
So we did it!!  Nate's dream is coming to fruition and our first time at the Kaysville market was a success!  I mean, if you measure it in certain ways, not as successful, but for our first time-- SUCCESS!  We had enough food and everyone stayed busy, working together, it was a great team effort!  We know what we want to do differently for next time and how to work out some kinks, so that's promising as well.  It was fun to have Grandpa Hatch there, and several others' support.  Good stuff.  Here's to next week!  7-26-18

LUNCH WITH KENNI AND EMILY
Kenni was in town so that called for lunch :).  I was so happy when Kenni said we should invite Emily!  We had a great time.  I can't get enough of these friends.  I love them so much.  Nate and the kids had to pick me up for our movie.  7-27-18

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3
We all went down to the Bountiful theater for a movie together on Friday!  So much fun.  I loved the movie.  We were glad that Luke was able to join us after a three hour trip to the temple with Clint!  Pretty packed time of day to go I guess.  It was nice of the Sanders to bring him to the theater for us.  Everyone seemed to love the movie.  Good times.  7-27-18

WEBELOS DAY CAMP
Noah got to go to day camp Saturday.  He had a great time and came home with fun souvenirs.  It's a little weird to think about the fact that Jack will probably never get to do that.  Maybe The Church will come up with something cooler by then?  7-28-18
