Kelly gave us a lesson on how satan tries to distract you and did an object lesson with quarters and people drawing lines down there face making marks they didn't know they were making. It was a pretty cool analogy. For the activity we took advantage of the crazy wind and went over to the park to fly the kites Nate bought at Costco forever ago. It was fun, but also freezing cold, so it was short lived. It was fun to see the kids re-learning how to fly kites- I can't believe it's been so long since we did it last. Charity was at an AP Psych review, which was a bummer to have her missing out. She was totally depressed about it and took some convincing to go. Kelly sat on the grass by Jack who was curled up in a ball on in Luke's coat trying to get warm. Bradley got the hot air balloon kite up with only a little guidance from Nate and I, and flew it almost the whole time without too much trouble- it's a pretty good kite! Luke was in control of the other one- it was spinny which was too cool, but kind of hard to keep steady and up in the air. Maybe it was too windy. But he had a lot of fun running around and trying to keep that one up. Took a little bit of instruction for him too. My poor boys didn't know how to fly kites! Noah, Erika and Molly ran around chasing, and watching the kites. Trying to get turns holding the string. They loved it! It really was a lot of fun, I'm glad Emily told me that their family had done it the day before- it was a fun idea! I felt bad that we didn't invite Grandpa Hatch! But lots of fun. I got pictures. For the treat we piled in the car and got Fiiz. I was so good! No Nutella hot chocolate for me! 4-16-18

This kite was all over the place- took Luke a lot of work to keep it up there. Might be that the wind was too strong, not sure.
Trying to recreate a pic from the old days :).
I just love Erika and Noah in this one.
