These were the Silver Presidential academics award winners. Kelly was so short she had to step up to the step behind her to be seen once they called up some more people :)
On the last day of school, we got to attend Kelly's promotion/graduation. This is a really fun event when you have a kid who has been as devoted to school as Kelly has. She was awarded the Silver Presidential Academic award which means she got all A's all through the last three years of school and good citizenship. She got National Physical Fitness award- achieving National level scores on all levels of physical fitness. She had won her class's DARE essay contest so she got to read her essay during the graduation competing with the other classes' winners. She didn't get chosen to win the stuffed lion, but I liked her essay best. She did a great job!! and she was a good sport, stating that the winner's essay had been very good. What a cool girl. They had a slide show of all the sixth graders' pictures and then a list of some of their accomplishments this year (which I found surprising in the world we live in where it's not okay to be better than anyone, or announce accomplishments that EVERYONE didn't win), but it was really cool because a lot of the things Kelly had done this year showed up on her slide. DARE essay winner, Science Fair winner, Newsletter committee, Silver Presidential award, etc. They all said, "6th grade advancement" and most of them said, "DARE graduate", but I think Kelly's had the most :). She's a cool girl. She had wanted to stay at the school to help Mrs. Williams clean up the classroom, but we talked her into coming with us to lunch. We went to her favorite, Arby's. I think she had enough fun to make up for the loss :). Grandma Hatch was kind enough to make time for Kelly's big day, it was nice to have her support. 6-4-15
I think this is the fun lunch group.
Kelly snagged her friend Jenna for a picture afterwards.

I think if Kelly and I were the same age and went to school together, she and I would be best friends. She is so cool!
