I don't think I've ever been so anxious for the last day of school!! My kids on the other hand probably could have gone for another week or so. Well, maybe just Kelly. She is kind of sad for her big sixth grade year to be over. She will miss her favorite teacher, Mrs. Williams. This was a great year for Kelly. I think it was especially nice after the crazy one last year. She loved that they traded seats every two weeks. Smart teacher. Mrs. Williams was a lot of fun and made Kelly feel important. I'm so grateful for her! We grabbed her for this picture after graduation.
As per tradition, we showed up a little before the bell rang to go around and get pictures with the teachers. I kinda miss how easy this was at Holbrook, but we succeeded without too much trouble, so it was all good. Here's Noah with his Monday-Thursday first half of the day teacher, Mrs. Horning. This was not his favorite class. Mostly because the kids were out of control and didn't pay attention to the teacher at all. But he was so patient and stuck it out the whole year! Hopefully my wish is granted and we do not have a weird split situation for him next year.
We hopped on over to Mrs. Burns' classroom so that we could get a picture with her and she was in there crying! She said she would be in a picture if we didn't mind the tears. So cute. What a cool teacher! Most teachers are more than happy to see the kids go! I'm not sure I've ever seen a teacher crying on the last day of school. Shows what a great teacher she is. And she really was the better of his two. He loved Fridays because of her. I'm so glad he at least had that to look forward to each week.
Then we caught Mrs. James for Bradley. This was a great year for him as well. He even said he was going to miss Mrs. James. That's saying a lot :). I liked her. I feel like she helped push Bradley and helped him be motivated all year. That was helpful for me.
So then we walked around looking for Luke's class, couldn't find them anywhere! Finally we went outside and found them out on the field playing kickball!! They'd missed the bell and were still handing out Otter Pops by the time we found them. Look how fun Mrs. Beckstead is!! Playing kickball with the class way past the bell!! Again with the amazing teachers!!
I'm not sure what I would have done without her this year. It was a great one for Luke academics wise and she helped us out so much with the anxiety these last few months. She's been such a blessing. I really enjoyed the times I got to sit and talk with her on field trips as well. She's very cool. I hope someone else gets her in the future!
I made everyone get out of the car for a picture of the school kids! I wish I'd made Charity take one at the Jr. High. But here they are!! They're getting so old! Charity had an amazing first year of Jr. High. I don't think we could have asked for better! I know it wasn't all fun and games for her, and she did have her struggles with friends and teachers and such, but she did SO AMAZINGLY!! We really couldn't complain. She had some great teachers, some not so great ones. Ones that I hope we can somehow manage to avoid in the future (ha ha yeah right) and ones that I hope to see every year. I was SO proud of Charity's hard work. She tried out for just about everything, and tried to get involved in as many things as she could. That really made me happy to see her getting out there and involved. She pulled off mostly A's all year! And she did it all on her own! I think we nagged her too much the first quarter, but then she just let the momentum carry her through the rest of the year. She did so great! I just couldn't be more proud of her.
And I just loved the cheesiness of Kelly and Noah in this picture. Even though it's cheesy, there is so much meaning here. Noah has always looked up to and loved Kelly so much! I remember the years where he actually called it a "crush" that he had on her :). Cute little brother. And she has always been so sweet to him. It's really just a sweet, priceless relationship. I'm glad that they've had each other. I think it's sad that these boys will not have their Kelly to keep them in line next year, but then again, I'm sure Erika will be able to just take over where she left off :). We'll have SIX in school next year!! Holy Moly!
We of course had to go out for ice cream to celebrate! Then when we got home everyone disappeared to friends' houses.
