Things to Remember Week of 9-18-16

PRIMARY 2ND COUNSELOR
I got sustained and set apart for my new calling today!  I'm so excited!  I love Primary!  It's been about 4 years since they released me from that calling in the 24th ward, so should be good :).  I will say I was definitely bummed and a little jealous hearing that Jami gets to be back in Young Women's as the President AND with Emily and Kenni!  That's going to be a fun leadership.  I feel a little jipped since I had to be in with a few people I didn't absolutely love working with (we got along fine and all was well, it just wasn't as fun of a leadership as this will be).  But I am happy for all of them.  I thought Charity was going to bounce right out of her seat with excitement when she heard it all.  And Kelly will be loving it in about 6 months :).  But anyway- I am really excited to be back in the Primary.  We went in there to be introduced to the kids and sit awkwardly in the front of the room :).  And all of my jealousy about Young Women new callings just disappeared when I heard the sweet little sunbeam who VOLUNTEERED- so cute! to say the prayer!  He said about three things over and over in different order and worded slightly different... about 4 or 5 times :).  Made me so happy inside!!  I leaned over to Barbara and said, "I just love this place!"  It was all I needed to feel the Spirit testify to me that I was in the right place and just where Heavenly Father wants me.  Then this was reconfirmed to me several other times throughout the two hours- which, by the way, go VERY quickly!  I loved feeling like this calling is really going to bless my family and bring me closer to my littles who might be feeling a little left out with all the activities and meetings I've been busy with for the past three years.  They deserve more of my attention and for it to be geared in a little kid direction.  So that was comforting and exciting as well. It's just a really good thing, which is good because I wasn't sure how I was going to survive without being in Young Women's.  Now I know :).   Barbara Noriega is our President, Natalie Clemens is First Counselor, and Terrie Tenney is the Secretary.  I was a little nervous not knowing Barbara Noriega and had some funny texting mess-ups with her daughter-in-law, but after listening to one voice mail from her, I was in love :).  She's so adorable and such a sweet lady!!  SO fun to talk to and really complimentary.  She keeps telling me that Bradley just really touched her heart.  Which of course touches mine.  She was his Primary teacher for what, two times :).  I just love her.  And I love that we kind of think alike.  I'm really excited about some of the changes we're going to be making and the things we already have planned (we met on Thursday last week- which ended up being a little bit of a bust since all the names we talked about were called to other callings this Sunday).  Natalie has already been a good friend of mine.  Her son has been on Noah's basketball team several times and so we've been buddies there and now we get to work in Primary together :).  She's the one that hugged me and told me she was sorry I was sad, but that she was happy we were going to be in the same ward, at the big split meeting.  I just love her- she's adorable.  Turns out she has a son Luke's age and one Jack's age as well, which I never made the connection before.  Boston has gone fishing with Bradley a few times and Ross just came over for the first time to play with Jack during our meeting.  So lots of fun.  I'm really excited about her.  And of course Terrie is awesome.  She's been my hero many times at the Jr. High, letting me have special privileges and stuff, with staying out in the car with my littles and letting the girls just come out to me.  Bless her!  It's going to be a great Presidency!  I'm really excited!  9-18-16

PARALYSIS
Satan sure did a number on me today.  I just hate that he can do that sometimes.  I was really weak.  My thoughts were really getting the best of me and it was not pretty.  I was an emotional wreck for most of the day and Nate even sensed it in our texts and took blood leave (which he got deferred for because of his antibiotics).  He's so good to me.  I don't deserve him.  Came home and made me a yummy salad and helped with a grumpy Molly and Jack.  I think FHE is what finally pulled me out of the hole.  I hope I can keep myself out of it for a while- that was not good.  Didn't get most of my cleaning and housework done.  So frustrating.  I'm not sure when I will get it done now.  This is like week three of not getting my whole cleaning schedule done.  But I digress.  Here's to a new day.  9-19-16

MOLLY
While I was down today, I had really broke down and was kneeling at the couch and had said a prayer, but I was still just sobbing and cute little Molly came crawling over to me and just kind of stared at me for a minute :).  Then when she got close enough she reached her little hand up to my face and touched my tears.  It was the sweetest little moment.  Really touched my heart and almost made me laugh.  Then she got brave and stood up and even lifted her hand up off the couch to show me how cool she was standing all by herself :).  Just for a split second and she didn't want to continue at all when I wiped away the tears and decided to be a mom again.  But so sweet.  Such a fun little moment with my little Molly.  I don't know what I would do without these little people.  They really make my life worth living.  9-19-16

FHE
Erika was the lesson so we got out one of my old FHE group lessons and she taught about the Stripling Warriors and then we had Jack use the little board game for our activity.  I love that lesson!  Still so proud of it :).  My treat was Muddy Buddies which we destroyed the living room floor with while we played the game.  I love watching Jack get into FHE lately.  He really loves the attention he gets when he has something to say.  Or all the whistling.  So cute.  9-19-16

TEMPLE TUESDAY
So far Temple Tuesday doesn't look like it will last very long.  I had six girls (besides Charity and kelly) who said they were going to go.  I ALMOST looked for another driver because that leaves us a little crowded, but decided there would probably be someone who slept in.  I had no idea there would be FOUR that slept in!!!  There were only two other girls besides Charity and Kelly!!  SHEESH!  I'll just say it- I was bummed!  I know that Audrey will normally be a regular, and Savannah had a pretty good story ;), but I was hoping for a little while of pretending like I still get to be with the Young Women.  We'll see.  If not, it will be perfect for my girls (and soon Bradley!!!) and I to go.  They're really encouraging Family Names right now.  I'm hoping to find some this month to take next time so that I can actually do baptisms.  9-20-16

PRODUCE
I totally screwed up on my order again.  What else is new.  Ugh.  9-20-16

BLISS
Bliss and I decided we needed a hang out and met up at Hess Farms Park for a little picnic.  Kind of funny how our "going out to lunch" evolved into "bring leftovers to a park so the kids can play", but I don't really care :).  She's such a good friend.  I love talking with her.  9-20-16

SCOUTS
I had my TWO HOUR meeting with Sharlena this Tuesday about Scouts.  I thought my head was going to explode!  I came home completely overwhelmed about this calling.  It's weird that I'v ehad this calling before, but not.  Scouts is a lot of work.  I think I am going to see which stuff I HAVE to do and which stuff I can delegate and do that because it's INSANE how much there is.  I HOPE I can do this calling.  9-20-16

ORTHO CONSULT
Charity and I went to yet another ortho consultation.  Trying to find the most reasonable price for braces.  It was dumb of me to take her to the nicer one first.  This place felt so low budget and did not leave me with the warm and fuzzy feeling the other place did.  I kept wondering if this place was just not as good, or if the other place was going to be doing more than they needed to do just so they can over charge me.  It's going to take some serious deliberation because there is quite a difference in price.  9-20-16

COOKIES
The Young Women brought me a sweet Thank you card and cookies on Wednesday night.  I was trying SO HARD not to cry!!  I wish I could have kept myself a little more composed and been able to actually talk.  It was so hard to look out and see all the new leaders, faces I didn't recognize, and the new Young women.  It was really sweet of them and I love the things they wrote in the card- meant a lot!  I did realize that this group is not the same group I had before.  If I was back in there, I wouldn't really be "back in there" it's not the same girls.  I love all the girls that came to Ponds Park with us, but there are so many that didn't that I would really miss if I was still in Young Women's.  So maybe this really is for the best.  Someday I hope to be back in there and get to know all the new girls.  That would really be my dream, but until then, I think I'm becoming more and more content with the idea of moving on.  9-21-16

CUBMASTER
Met with the Cubmaster today!  PHEW!  I feel much better now and much more capable.  I think this will actually work!  9-22-16

WIND, RAIN, and THUNDER
I'm so sad our races got rained/power lines downed/lightening-ed out.  There was some SERIOUSLY crazy wind for a few minutes today!  9-21-16

BEST. HUSBAND. EVER.
Nate was my hero today!  I was trying to get things ready for Book Club at our house.  I had put off all the cleaning I needed to do in the living room, so it took me most of the morning to get it all done.  And I really couldn't have done it without his help!  He weeded the front (his idea :) ), helped me get the couch cushion covers off and then back on, held Molly and took care of Jack while I cleaned, drove all the way to Bountiful with me to get a box spring for Jack's bed, bought me yummy lunch!  read me the rest of my book while I scrubbed floor spots, went into the store to get the treat for it, helped Bradley with dinner while I did some more cleaning :) (pretty messy room), and then took eth ekids out while we had book club!  Amazing right?!  I think so.  I have to add to this list after the LOOOOOONG night we had with Molly that night.  At 5:00 am he grabbed Molly and brought her downstairs for me so that I could sleep a little.  Bless him.  9-22-16

AS I HAVE LOVED YOU
We had Book Club at my house this week and it was THE BEST BOOK!!  I really want to read this to my kids.  It was most of the same stories she had told at her fireside a year or so ago, which I posted about here but it was so neat to read and think about again.  Her mother was a SAINT!  That woman was more in tune to the Spirit than I have ever been!  Such an incredible example!  Read the book :).  We had an awesome discussion about it as well, which I LOVED!  It's fun when book club is actually more about the book.  Although, I did love hanging out with Shadowbrook people and hearing that they are missing us as well :).  9-22-16

NAP DAY
Since I didn't sleep almost all night, I took full advantage of Molly's long nap on Friday and slept on the couch while Jack melted his brain on the TV.  I'm not real proud of it, but I am SUPER grateful the opportunity arose.  Nate had to go get a root canal at 11:00, so he woke up and left just before that, but I did not get up until I absolutely had to and shower.  It was nice.  Would have been even better if Jack hadn't been nagging me to skip commercials the whole time, but beggars can't be choosers.  It really was nice.

STAKE PRIMARY ACTIVITY
I cannot say enough about the awesome Stake activity!  It was a service project, they did a sailor/nautical theme, and they seriously blew it out of the water!  I loved it!  They divided them up into several groups by age and had them each do a different service project.  yarn hats, dolls for operation smile, place mats for meals on wheels, I don't even know all of them, I was helping with the dolls.  It was SO NEAT!!  And I LOVED that they made it ALL about service!  The kids LOVED it!  They proved that little kids don't need prizes and games and treats to have a good time!  THey were so happy to do something nice for other people.  We need to do more of this as a family and as a ward primary I think.  Fun stuff.  9-24-16

THE FOURTH HOUR
Nate's car wasn't starting after Kelly's Lacrosse game out in Sandy and it was right when the girls and I needed to be leaving for the Women's conference at the Conference Center.  Kind of a panicky, crazy, hour or so while we tried to figure out what we needed to do and then as soon as we were about to go pick them up, it started!!  RELIEF!!  He made it back with enough time for the girls to get dressed and go.  We didn't get to go to dinner like we'd planned, but we grabbed Julie Shaw and raced downtown.  Luckily Emily's parking lot was open and we got to park right there by the conference center.  9-24-16

WOMEN'S CONFERENCE
I LOVED the conference!  I was so grateful we were able to get tickets again.  We've gone quite a few times lately, it's been really nice.  It's just such a special thing to be right there!  I really enjoyed the talks, there was one that was really applicable and one that I want to go back and read so that I can do some of the things I thought about.  President Uchtdorf's talk was really awesome too.  I loved what he said about the things Faith can't do.  Very interesting way to put it and puts minds at ease in my opinion.  The girls and I dropped off Julie and went and got some ice cream at Dairy Queen after.  Memories :).  9-24-16
