At BYC the Bishop read an update on the Word of Wisdom from the First Presidency. We had to look at it long and hard, possibly in denial, but found out that green tea extract (and green tea of course) are against the word of wisdom. Unfortunately, our favorite drinks, Bai and Ice both contain Green Tea Extract. So no more of those for us. It's been surprisingly easy to be done with them. I've been pleasantly surprised but also proud of us for being so diligent. 9-8-19
AUBREY McCOLLEY MISSION FAREWELL
I had to miss Aubrey's farewell because Erika was sick, but Charity and Kelly went and Charity facetimed me so that I could hear her talk! That was awesome! She did a great job! I'm so happy for her she will be a great missionary! 9-8-19
PRESIDENT TAYLOR SENIOR FIRESIDE
Charity and I got to go to a special fireside with President Taylor for all the Seniors graduating this year. It pains me to think about that fact, but Charity is going to graduate this year whether I'm ready or not, so I'm trying to get ready. This fireside was great! I loved all the things he brought to our attention. The Q&A part was fun too. One of the questions he addressed was Charity's, that was cool. I loved what he said about how to prioritize and how he said, "Do your family responsibilities first, everything else will fall into place" he emphasized, "Be a good sibling and son or daugter!..." I loved that. 9-8-19
LUNCH WITH ALANA
Alana and I finally went to lunch! I dragged Erika with Molly, Sadie and I to Kneaders. Kelly joined us as well. It was a nice time! I love talking to Alana. We talked a lot about the more kids? dilemma. Such a tough one! I think it's such a difficult part of making a family. Hopefully she can figure things out for her and her family. Hopefully I can get used to my situation soon too. Not really sure what is going on in my head these days. 9-9-19
UTAH STATE FAIR
Family day at the fair! We couldn't go on Patriot day this time, which was a bummer, paying and all, but we had a great time! Checked out the Fine Arts and Creative Arts first. Noah entered his bear drawing and Erika entered her crayon E canvas art. It is ALWAYS fun to look at the art, recognize these kids for their efforts and of course, text a picture to Annie, our inspiration. Noah got an honorable mention, Erika got a first place! Erika even got a check for, sit down, THREE dollars! Whoa. Which actually is still kinda cool. We did the hanging bar fun with Nate trying to win $110. That was very exciting. He got SO CLOSE!! Those things are so rigged! We actually did another one in the business building that the kids got to try. Brad did amazing! I think it was a minute 14. Pretty cool. We did our FFA hands on farm thing that the kids LOVE. Then filled up on ice cream! The fair is one of my favorite traditions. I just love that we do it every year. All of our routines. Good times. 9-9-19
CHARITY- SEMINARY PRESIDENT
I thought this was something important to record. I love that she was called to be her class President! Cool stuff! Meetings. 9-10-19
PLAYGROUP TUESDAY
We moved Playgroup to Tuesday! This was a big move! It's been on Monday for at least 4 years, maybe more. I think I survived. It isn't my favorite yet. I'm going to have to figure out how to juggle that and laundry better, since we have Music Makers on Monday interrupting it then. And we have to find stuff to do on Wednesday now with Nate needing to sleep. But we'll get the hang of it. We changed it so that Natalie and Lisa can still come with their girls. Preschool ruins all the fun. 9-10-19
T.C. CHRISTENSEN
This was a really cool fireside! The guy who produced-? maybe directed? can't remember- all the cool Church movies came and spoke to us. He mostly spoke about The Fighting Preacher, his most recent one. He would talk about making the movie and then show a clip and then wrap it all up in a nice Gospel message. It was pretty cool. I loved that movie and really loved hearing his take on it. I'd love to get my hands on the recordings from Sis. Bean. That sounded really cool. And as it turns out, T.C. is Bro. Dave Christensen's brother! Kinda cool! 9-10-19
SADIE'S TWO MONTHS
Two months already! I can't believe this little girl was ever not in our lives. I don't know what we did without her. Everyone loves her so much. She has the biggest fan club of anyone I know who's only been alive for two months :). She is mostly held, poops, sleeps, and most of all held! I hope she can develop properly regardless of all the holding she gets. She almost never lays on her own. She is so sweet. We are catching glimpses of her cute smile, but it's hard to get her to crack one for us. She doesn't just give them away :). But she makes about a million facial expressions in the process. It's super cute. She is still the wiggliest baby I've ever seen. She runs marathons when she is not in someone's arms. It's way cute to see her pumping her legs and arms every time I lay her down to change her. She's a sweetheart! She still has several, probably more, angels surrounding her that we cannot see. She is always aware of them. It's pretty special. I wonder who they are. I love this little girl more than anyone could know. It's a blessing to have her in our family. 9-11-19
THE MARKET
Nate did the market for the second to last week of the season. He's had the kids' help every time, but it's starting to dwindle :). They love it, but I think they're realizing that it's a lot of work now. Sadie, Jack, Molly and I walked up to the Market this week, well, Jack and Molly rode their bikes which was a lot of fun. We wanted to check up on everyone and browse the market too! It was pretty fun. Sadie wasn't in a real great mood for browsing, but fell asleep long enough for me to sit in the booth and feel like I was part of things for a few minutes. I've been completely MIA this summer. I feel bad about that, but it wasn't in the cards. We picked out some produce from a few of the stands that wanted to trade with us, visited with friends and strangers, and then headed home. It was actually a pretty pleasant little outing. 9-12-19
STAKE 5K
I didn't get to go to the 5K this year, but Nate and Brad made their way over there. They both did really awesome, as I was told. I wish I was in the condition to run it myself, but there will be time for that again someday. We had soccer games, so nobody else was able to go, but I'm glad Brad and Nate did. 9-14-19
DISHWASHER
Well, we finally caved and had the dishwasher looked at! Our funny, old repair guy determined that it is the pump that has gone out and wants to replace that. I'm not excited about how much it costs to fix it, but to have a working dishwasher again would be heavenly. Although, I have to admit, I've been pretty proud of my ability to keep up on the dishes, HANDWASHING them myself! Makes me think I'm capable of so much more than I do. But anyway. He came Saturday to fix it! I can't wait to see if it works. 9-14-19
WARD CHILI COOKOFF/PROGRAM PRACTICE
The chili cook off was pretty fun this year, as usual. I think I might have enjoyed it more if Nate could have been there. I miss him at those things. Why do all the ward activities have to be Saturday nights. But anyway. It was cut short because we needed to go in and practice the primary program with all the Primary kids. This was pretty much torture. I probably do it to myself, but I just cannot make myself feel useful enough in these situations. I feel like a fourth wheel which SHOULD be a good thing! I had Sadie who wasn't happy through the last half, so it was kind of like- there, now I'm un-useful for a reason. Nobody wants to hear my ideas or cares about the things I do, so I'm kind of just in the way. It's all good, I'm getting used to this feeling having been in this calling for three years, I just wish I could have worked out of it in that time. We were told it will be the 29th that we all get released though, so... there ya have it folks! 9-14-19
