- At the Family meeting on Sunday, Erika totally bonded with Jen again. I appreciate so much that Jen makes the effort and takes the time to show Erika around and become friends with her. Nancy kept trying and was so sweet to her, but it didn't quite take this time.... maybe next time :) She's not the friendliest little kid, but it's nice to know there are adults who are not waiting for the one year old to cater to them.... as adults sometimes do ;)
- Monday we had Enoch here from sleeping over Sunday night. All the boys wanted to do was play the wii and I had so much to do I consented. Then I couldn't get them to want to do anything else once I was done. As I was trying to talk them into doing something other than playing wii, watching tv, and playing with the sleeping bags, we noticed a big saw out in the road, slicing a big square out of it. Then the big scooper started digging! And digging and digging!! A couple hours later, we had a big hole right in front of our house with a dump truck and back hoe! Talk about exciting!!! Such entertainment for a bunch of boys!! Luckily the dump truck was blocking our driveway, so we decided going somewhere was no longer an option, so we just stayed in our jammies and kept watching :). We did stop to get some ice cream on our way to take Enoch home and pick up Kelly. I felt kind of bad when I heard how much stuff Kelly got to go do with Grandma Ruthie and Sierra and Marshall..... but whatever, I think they still had a lot of fun :)
- Tuesday we got to go hang out with the old Tville gang. That is always the a highlight for me! We met up at a Splash pad in Herriman and spent the afternoon there playing in the water. And Erika actually got in this time! Made me wonder if it had anything to do with how relaxed I was as opposed to how I was the last time.... just a thought. We had a lot of fun. Then we stopped at the Humane Society just to look at the animals. This is like heaven for my kids. I feel so bad that we haven't been allowed to have pets for so many years.... well, kind of, I don't know that I would have wanted to take care of more beings anyway, but for THEIR sakes, I feel bad :). Charity is counting down the days til February 27th when she gets her $100 for not eating candy so she can buy her dog. She really will do it too. She spent the next few days reading up on ALL of the animals there. Even made a binder with lists of all the dogs. She's very into them. I'm still waiting for her to grow out of pretending to be one. Although, I like that she's not afraid to be what she wants and she doesn't let people make her feel dumb about it.... she's a strong little girl. Kelly loved the kittens and couldn't hold enough of them. Her favorite are the orange ones. She is planning on getting a kitten as soon as she can as well. Brad is into the bunnies. I am not sure if it's because he wants to like something different from the girls, or if he really does like bunnies. But whatever it is, he says that when we move, he's getting a bunny :) We will see. I'm not sure I want to run a zoo. Lukey likes kittens! He says he is going to get one too. Noah seemed interested in all of the animals, and frankly I think the kittens liked him the best. I think they can sense his sensitvity. They all mellowed out in his arms. Maybe it's his name that draws animals to him :) who knows :). Erika loved the WHOLE thing. Minus th edogs barking at her. But she was IN HEAVEN! Especially when she got to hold the kittens. They love animals. It's funny that we spend all this money to go to "fun places" when all we really need to do is take them to the Humane Society and let them look around for an hour. Free entertainment.
- Wednesday night was Amy's Bridal Shower. Oh how I love to spend time with the Coles, Cockaynes and Claire :). It's therapeutic to drive around Taylorsville and then sit and visit with some of my favorite people. They're right up there with family in my book. I'm so happy for Amy and that she found her man. So exciting!
- We went on a walk as a family Thursday night. The older four rode their bikes and called it the "best bike ride ever". Erika and Noah were in the stroller. It was a really nice time to talk with Nate and get some fresh air. Usually Nate will take the kids while I make dinner and it's a nice quiet time to myself, but I think it's going to be a motivation to get dinner made early so that I can go with them from now on. I miss how we used to do that..... it was living on the dumb hill that ruined it :) jk. Anyway, as we rounded one of the corners we saw two horses corralled in someone's front yard. They just happen to be people in the ward that we kinda know, so we stopped and they let the kids pet and oooh and aaaahhhh over them. They had rode them up from Centerville to give them a bath and let them stand in the shade of their front yard to cool off. The kids loved that!! Then their dogs came out and that was pretty exciting for some of us. Charity discussed all the different types of dogs, they seemed to know a lot about them. Charity's been even more obsessed with dogs ever since we stopped at the Humane Society. And then to top it off, the daughter-in-law came out with her brand new, 7 week old, twin boys!! Fun for everyone :) It was really nice to be able to talk with the lady who I only see from across the room in Sharing Time. I feel like I know her a little better.... though I couldn't remember her name for the life of me and didn't want to ask (isn't there a statute of limitations on asking someone their name..... anyway). I'll ask Carrie at church on Sunday. But she was so sweet and you could tell how much they loved their animals. They even offered to let Charity come ride them sometime.
- Friday were invited to join in on the slip n slide at the church hill with some friends in the ward. It's SO much fun!! My kids loved it. Even Erika joined in and had a pretty good time! I think Noah's the only one that didn't actually go down the slide. He missed out. We had watermelon and visited.... it was a fun little Friday afternoon activity. Pictures to follow.... someday....
