- Cute little Erika is finally going to bed on her own!!!! I waited a couple weeks to announce it because I didn't want to jinx it, but I think it's a done deal now! My awesome husband started telling her that she was "going to bed like a big girl" a few weeks ago. It took a few nights (maybe more) but she is now a "big girl" as far as going to bed goes! She turns the light off. Climbs into bed. Gets a sip from her sippy cup. Then lays down to get comfy. Requests a song (usually "God"- I Am A Child of God). Then gets a kiss and a hug. And stays in her bed. It's fabulous! I couldn't ask for more! And I don't have to sit there singing hours of songs, or listen to her cry for hours while she's locked in her room, OR put her back in her bed a thousand times before going crazy and giving in! It's all done! for now. I love it. 10-28-11
- Saturday was our Ward Fall Social. We got there right when it started, Chilli in hand, and saw everyone walking into the doors with Halloween costumes on! We had no idea we were supposed to dress up! So Nate ran the chilli in and then we all drove home to put our costumes on! I can't believe how fast we got everyone dressed up! I think we got back to the church only 20 minutes late! Pretty good if you ask me :). We ate chilli and hot dogs, then the kids ran around the church from room to room doing different activities. I was so impressed with how well put together this party was! They had donut eating in one room, scary stories, crafts, coloring pages, in their own rooms, and our kids' favorite, the cake walk (or candy walk) in the last room. They spent most of their time in there, impressing everyone with their dance skills! It was a lot of fun to watch them being themselves. They're usually so shy at ward things. Jackie and Stephanie agreed ;). Lukey had a run in with a.... someone or something.... it was dark, so he wasn't sure, but came screaming back to us with a lump the size of a golf ball on the top of his cheek, just under his eye. It had a huge black dent in it! He said he could see it! We're still not really sure what happened, but it was insanely huge and painful looking! He was tough, put some ice on it and then carried on with the party as usual. It was a really good time!
- Monday morning was a sad morning. I was two days late on my you-know-what, and I had TOTALLY gotten my hopes up. It's always hard when it's late. Pain and disappointment. They just don't go well together for me.... especially with added hormones and down time! Nate was sweet enough to let me cry on his shoulder. I know it's silly to cry when I have 6 beautiful, healthy, happy, close to perfect :) children, but it is a bummer to think I might be on my way to another one and find out otherwise. Better luck next month I guess.
- Tuesday night, I beat Brad at Monopoly. He had experienced such a victory the day before, he challenged me to a rematch, and unfortunately, I kicked his trash. He was so sad. I felt bad. It's no fun to win like that.... next time, I'm cheat-losing.
- Wednesday was our make up for Heidi's birthday, day. The kids and I made a trip down there to celebrate (a week and a half late.... :P ) We got there a little early and played around on the playground at her apt. Erika had a dog jump on her and she's been talking about it all week :). When Heidi got there, we all went in and she spoiled the kids with some of her old junk :) Cute Noah asked Heidi, as everyone was digging into this bag of stuff, "So... should I just pick something?" He was looking for some order I guess :). We gave Heidi her present. Then we left to get some dinner. Heidi and I wanted good food, but we wanted somewhere that the kids could play and run around, so we grabbed some Cafe Rio and then went to McDonald's to eat it :). After dinner we went back to Heidi's to watch her funny Hitler Home Teaching video on YouTube. It was funny. Then Heidi gave me the flu shot she's had sitting in her fridge for months. It was virtually painless for some reason. I was very impressed! Though I think I didn't rub it around and move my arm around enough because it started hurting a few days later.... I think because it didn't hurt right away, I forgot about it.... anyway. Thanks to Heidi I might not get the flu this year :) Thanks!! I think we had a good time! Hopefully Heidi did too, and hopefully she had a nice birthday.
- Friday was the HOOP SHOOT!!!! We looked forward to this day ALL year. This time Charity AND Kelly were able to compete! Kelly was up against 4 other girls and she did AMAZINGLY!! We're not sure yet if she made it through because they won't find out officially until Monday, but we think she did! Charity was only up against one other girl again this time. She made 3 baskets in a row and that was it :) But she did better than the other girl, so she will be going on to the next round!! We're totally excited! Such a fun thing that the Elk's Club puts on for the kids!! We love it!
- Saturday was somewhat insane ;). After listening to me complain about how much school pictures are this year, Sarah had this great idea to have her take them! I was thrilled :) So Saturday was the big day, and I sure made things difficult. I had too many things that I wanted to accomplish that day. I did some of the apples (I'm drying apples that the neighbors have all, so willingly, shared with us), I bathed everyone, cut the boys' hair, and tried to clean up the living room for the photo shoot. If only I'd gotten up earlier because I did not have things under control when Sarah got here. I was so frazzled. But either way, the kids were all ready, (even Kelly after going over to Grandma Hatch's house for a sewing lesson), and Sarah did a great job setting it all up and making them look just like (well, I think they'll be better!) the regular school pictures. It took a LOT of coaxing but we weaseled a smile out of Erika at the very last POSSIBLE moment ;). Thankfully she did smile! I can't wait to see how they turned out! Sarah is my hero, I totally owe her now!! Saved me almost $100!
That evening we browsed the aisles of Toys R Us for about 2 hours, searching for presents for Erika (and to get an idea of what the kids will want this year :) ). I love that store.
