Well, as you can see, I've had little time (or motivation) to keep up on my blog this week. I'm going to regret that later, I know, but I have very little memory of what's been going on and I have a feeling most of it's not worth mentioning. But either way, here's some of it: (I won't even attempt a date on some of them)
- The kids had friends over almost everyday. Surprisingly some of Bradley's friends could actually play.... they've been MIA all summer!
- We had a couple of meals brought in by the ward, and my Dad brought us pizza one night and my Mom brought us KFC another. We've been well taken care of.
- Nate made an amazing baby back ribs meal on Friday night, pretty amazing!
- We let the kids each call a friend over for our "last day of the Summer, Movie Night!" They watched Muppets Treasure Island. That was a lot of fun. Nate let the kids pick out movie theater candy and bought popcorn. I think the kids had fun. Luke and Carter maxed out with the movie about three-quarters of the way through it, which I found pretty good for them, and decided jumping on the tramp in the dark would be more fun :). But everyone else had a blast.
- Kelly turned in her artwork for the State Fair. She did a really great job on an eagle in front of the American Flag and then with a few patriotic words written all around. Very cool! I hope she wins!
- Jack had his first sponge bath! 8-30-12 Just before his first doctor appointment. Must have been the circumcision, but I've never had to have a doctor visit 5 days after they were born! That seemed too soon. And the doctor made it seem like I'd scheduled the thing for something I had been wondering about. And he kept asking if there was "anything else" that was concerning me. I wanted to clear it all up and point out that I only made that appointment because they told me to at the hospital... but I didn't. Jack did fantastic! He is such a sweetie!
- The first night home, Jack slept from 9:00pm to 9:00am with only 2 feedings (short ones, that he ate and fell right back asleep for) in the night. I couldn't believe it!!! I knew it was possibly a fluke and that it may not always go that well, but WOW, one night of sleep! I'll take it! 8-28-12
- The second night, Jack woke up about every hour and never really did want to go back to sleep, so at about 5:00, I laid down with him next to me. I don't know if he was asleep, but he was quiet :).
- His sleep has been back to normal, with a few feedings in the night, decent if you ask me, since then. I'm grateful for how well he eats and sleeps and I could never complain about any of it!
- The kids are all very anxious for school to start! They have been counting down the days. I'm sad, but glad that they like to go to school. It will be fun to start a new year.
- Erika wanted to hold Jack and she was sitting on the papasan chair, so I let her. She got all cuddled up with him and the next time I looked at them, they were both asleep! I wish I'd gotten up to get my camera- I think I took one on my phone- but that would have been a cute picture!
- Nate's been to the store a million times, including the candy store twice, WALKING with all the kids and usually some extra neighbor kids as well, for all the extra odds and ends we need. He is so good to us!
- I've struggled a lot this week with the emotions and with the pain. I'm not sure we'll ever get it back to normal, but right now I'm happy, so I'll focus on that. I am really grateful for the insightful moments Heavenly Father has offered me. One thing that occurred to me this week is: I am not having babies because I love babies and cuddling and meeting them in the hospital, I wouldn't NOT have them because it's torture to get them here and painful afterwards. I need to remember this. Also, just because something is hard, or it hurts, doesn't mean I can't do it. And there isn't always a good reason.
- My love for Nate and my family has grown this week. I feel it more strongly than I have before. And not just when I'm on drugs. It's incredible how much a new sweet Spirit can add to our family. I'm grateful for that blessing. And the blessing of a husband and children who recognize it all as a blessing as well, and are willing to put forth the hard work and car it takes to get these sweet babies here!
