"You are not here to live a mediocre to average life; you are here to live an amazing life, a miraculous life. If it weren't for your challenges, there would be no miracles. You must do that which seems impossible, for it is only in the impossible that miracles are had." - author unknown, but very respected

Things to Remember 10-26-14

CHRISTLIKE LOVE
I taught the YW on Sunday.  "How I can develop Christlike love".  Something I know very little about.  It was a great lesson though and I could feel the Spirit.  I was grateful for the comments and discussion that went on the whole time.  I was so glad that Brook was there and could share her story about the homeless mom and her sweatshirt.  It fit in so nicely.  10-26-14

FOOT DOCTOR
I finally went to the foot doctor.  I have had the pain in my feet for the past month now, from the levaquin I took for my pneumonia.  So I caved.  It was a good visit, found out that the tendinitis isn't what is causing the problems anymore, it's how I was walking when I had the tendinitis that caused the problems I'm dealing with now.  Also, my high ("abnormally high") arch.  He recommended a custom-fit insert for my shoes.  I decided to try out the store ones first, to see if I can get some relief from those first.  $150 is a lot of money to spend on something when I haven't tried something else first.  10-27-14

SHOPPING
I had a lot of fun shopping on Tuesday.  This is a big deal, because I RARELY have fun shopping :).  I kept finding things I needed exactly the way I wanted them to be!  We got a lot of the stuff for Heidi's shower and for the kids' Halloween Costumes.  Unfortunately there weren't a lot of overalls at the D I and even less yellow hats ANYWHERE!  I decided to just make the hats myself.  I was able to get the fabric for my curtains I'd been wanting to stencil.  It was great!!  10-28-14

A HEALTHY LIVER
Jared was blessed with a liver donor, and after close inspection, they determined it was a healthy one and would work!  He was in surgery overnight for about 13 hours.  I couldn't believe how stressful that was.  I was so nervous for him!  All went well though and now we just wait for him to recover.

CURTAINS, MINION HATS, SHOWER IDEAS
The rest of the week is a bit of a blur, I stayed up ALL night (like, I didn't go to bed, didn't sleep) started on Bradley's hat after I tucked the kids in, and didn't finish it until 6:30 the next morning just before it was time to start on breakfast!  I was working on a few things the whole time, not just the one hat, but still!!!  It was nuts!!  I was tired.  When your kids have to have a costume for school parties, you'll do just about anything to make it happen.  I am happy to say, I did! :) 10-30-14

MRS. JAMES' CLASS HALLOWEEN PARTY
I got to go help in Bradley's class party on Thursday.  We were with Deena, helping her do the cool "ghost" touching station.  She had the coolest little set up!  All I really did was bring the dry ice, and stand there and be amazed, but it was a lot of fun just being there.  Jack and Erika had a great time too :).  I'll have to post my pics.  10-30-14

THE HAUNTED FOREST
We were invited to the Maughan's house for their traditional Haunted Forest.  I love that they do that!  It is so much fun.  I especially loved walking Jack through the forest.  He was already a little scared walking over there because of the dark, so when he saw the ghost and the flashing strobe light, and all the other spooky things (sorry, I can't even remember :) ), he would throw himself into me, with his hands wrapped around my neck, and squeeze me really tight!  I loved it!!  We should scare Jack more often ;).  He was so adorable about it.  I also loved being able to visit with everyone.  I talked a lot with Kristen Morrell.  We really need to get together, all the fun memories of her at girls camp came back and we were buds again :).  It was fun.  I wish they weren't moving.  We were the last ones to leave, so we got to talk with Emily and Travis a little and we loved that.  10-30-14

HUMERUS
Saturday evening, after some of the shower excitement had died down, we were all vegging on the couch.  I had been wanting and planning to take a nap all day after having missed out on so much sleep all week, but I felt prompted not to.  Instead I was crocheting a kitty for Kelly.  Jack wandered around, climbing on things, and made his way up on the couch, behind me.  I didn't think much of it, the couch was up against the wall still from the rearrangement for the shower, so I figured he was fine.  I was wrong though because he fell almost immediately after standing up, right down in the space between the door, the couch, and a chair.  Kelly grabbed him right away, he was screaming, so I grabbed him from her.  I noticed his arm was limp and imagined he could have dislocated it falling in such a small space, so I attempted to reconnect it.  We've done this a million times with all our kids, so I didn't think much of it.  I did however, hear a little pop when I did it this time.  Charity even heard it too.  I figured my work was done, but he was still screaming and his arm still seemed limp.  I thought maybe I went the wrong direction, so I did it the other way.  Still nothing.  So I woke up Nate to see if he could do it.  After a few times of him doing it and all the screaming pain Jack was in, I couldn't help it any longer, I grabbed him and rushed him off to the Instacare.  Sometimes I sit there and think and rethink whether I should take my kids in for things like this, but not this time.  It was actually kind of nice to feel like it really needed to be done.  Even though, I was sure it was just dislocated and they would laugh at me as they fixed it for me then charged me a million dollars to do so.  On the way there he would hold his breath and breathe really rapidly with each turn, you could feel his pain.  Talking with Charity and Kelly, I found out he had landed on his arm when he fell, not the way I'd pictured.  It occurred to me then, that it might actually be broken.  Although, I doubted it because I've thought that a lot of times when I was wrong.  But after a little palpation from the Doc, and then an x-ray, sure enough, it was definitely broken!  I've never seen such a clear picture of a broken bone.  Not since my anatomy lab anyway.  I felt so bad!!  This is our second kid to break an arm from fall off a couch.  How embarrassing.  We're so boring.  I feel like we need to come up with a more exciting story.  Just kidding.  So he winced his way through a splinting, wrapping, and sling.  It was so sad.  He was such a sweetie though, and so brave and tough the whole time.  I was glad to get some Ibuprofen in him and see him sleep when we got home.  4-6 weeks of yuck ahead though... here we come.  11-1-14
