"You are not here to live a mediocre to average life; you are here to live an amazing life, a miraculous life. If it weren't for your challenges, there would be no miracles. Things to Remember Week of 2-7-16

NOAH
Noah was welcomed as the newest member of the Church to the Ward today in Sacrament Meeting!  He looked so handsome up there in his new suit and cute little serious face :).  I just couldn't be prouder.  2-7-16

BRADLEY'S PRIESTHOOD PREVIEW
Nate had to work Sunday afternoon and evening so I got to go with Bradley to his Priesthood Preview, just he and I.  What a cool event that was!  Our first one of those!  They talked about the Priesthood and Young Mens and Scouts.  I think it was very informative for Bradley.  I cannot believe he is going to be 12 this year!!  He's growing way too fast.  I'm really excited for him at the same time though.  I know he will rise to the occasion and be his best self, totally worthy and willing to serve the Lord and his children.  It was fun to sit by the kid who had all the answers all evening :).  I just love my Bradley!  2-7-16

TOO MUCH
Monday was one of those days where I stand back and think, "whoa I do have a lot of kids!"  It was pretty busy and I just kept going the whole day!  I got about 10 loads of laundry done in ONE DAY!!  MIRACLE!!!  Do I love my new washer and dryer?  Absolutely!!  I can't decide if the best part is that they work faster, or that they hold more clothes?  Both are working together to make my life just a teensy bit easier.  The work I did today would have taken me at least three days with the old set.  I am totally in heaven with the new ones!  I got the grocery shopping done (aka: picked it up at Walmart :) ).  Did two loads of dishes.  Tried to take care of Molly, Jack and a sore throat-y Erika.  Once everyone got home from school we were off to pick up Charity's new glasses- they look so cute on her!  Between cleaning out the dryer vent outside, making dinner, making flash cards (two sets, one for Kelly's science class- oh how I wish I could remember all the cell stuff... and one for Bradley's Constitution bowl- thankfully most of them were the same as when Kelly was learning them and we were able to use the same flash cards.  Just had to add a couple), editing Utah Write, and laundry, my evening was full!  It's always good to feel needed, I really couldn't have been replaced today :).  That's a good thing.  2-8-16

FHE
Nate taught about the 2nd article of faith and how we can appreciate our trials and be positive and faithful during trying times.  Good reminder.  We had rice krispie treats, but since it was so late, we decided we will have our activity tomorrow.  The kids were bummed.  2-8-16

WEDNESDAY WAS WEDNESDAY
I'm not a big fan of how EVERYTHING is on Wednesdays for us.  Most of the day was fine though, I enjoyed it.  I just wish we could spread some of the responsibilities out.  Here's how my day went after getting about 2 hours of sleep (yep, for the whole night! Nate worked the mid- all heck breaks loose when Nate works the mid) and getting kids off to school:
folded about 8 loads of laundry
playgroup at the church
errands with Nate (got the towels!!  kind of excited about this... and the scout store)
Divide and conquer with Nate- he went to NAL, I went  home to sew on scout patches and do more laundry.
Picked up a cake on our way to my dad's for Steve's party
Nate and the girls joined us
Party (listened to my mom harass me about Molly sucking on her fingers... definitely a highlight and listened to Steve talk on the phone to Brent)
Nate and Charity left for solo and ensemble tryouts
Hurry home to get Bradley to Court of Honor and Kelly to opening exercises for YW
brought other kids home
took Molly to Nate at Court of Honor
went to Beehive activity, heart attacking bishopric and a few others
complain to Nate about all the little things that annoyed me
SLEEP!

HEFT
I finally finished the second book for book club this year.  It was called Heft.  I will admit I didn't love it.  It didn't pull me in except for a few chapters.  It was mostly depressing.  I think after talking with Emily and finding out that the ending was lame, I had a hard time getting into it.  I was still not prepared for how dumb the ending was though!  It just ended!  No resolution.  Wasn't even a good cliffhanger!  Kinda bugged me.  I was needing closure.  At book club, though, a lot of people expressed an interest in it and a few people pointed out some things I had not noticed or appreciated about the book.  Sometimes I wish I could have a more open mind.  Oh well.  I'm proud of myself for reading it!  2-11-16

CLOSETS CLOSETS CLOSETS
Nate and I cleaned out our closet Friday!  WAHOO!!  Feels super awesome!  Nate and I have decided to tackle a different area of the house each Friday.  Last week we were busy getting ready for the baptism, but the week before was the kitchen and that felt awesome, still does, so doing our closet this week was really great as well.  You can see the floor and there are even a few empty spaces in it!  Someday we need to buckle down and go through all the boxes really well.  Especially the memories and photos ones, but this was a very productive project.  Feels really good.  And the walks down memory lane were well worth the work :).  2-12-16

LUKE BIRTHDAY TABLE
We were about 15 minutes late getting Luke's Pizza Pie Cafe and Little Caesars Pizza to the school for lunch with Luke on Friday.  I felt bad.  But it all worked out.  We had a great time sitting and talking with him.  He's such a fun kid.  So easygoing.  I love that about Luke.  Mr. Flynn told us all about his scheme to beat one of the sixth grade classes with TTM, by moving Luke back down to 4th grade level math.  He's passing things off really quickly again now.  He had gotten up to sixth grade math and was getting a little discouraged (in my opinion), so it's kinda good.  Although, not sure how I feel about Mr. Flynn using him to win :).  He's hilarious.  Erika and Jack got to take home balloons :) 2-12-16

OUR VALENTINE'S DAY
Nate had to work Saturday night and Valentine's was on Sunday, so we decided to celebrate it on Friday night.  Nate spoiled me with flowers and chocolates in the afternoon.  Then that night we went out!  The sushi place Nate had wanted to try was pretty full, 2 hour wait, so we decided to walk around and find a different restaurant.  We found one called The Hearth on 25th.  It was pretty fancy and after glancing at the menu realized it was pretty pricey, but there were affordable things on the menu, so we stayed :).  It was fun to try something completely new!  They had some very interesting things on the menu- "Local Himalayan Yak"?  Who knew?!  We learned what "evoo" means.  And we got to try Coconut Curry Popcorn for the first time!  I say 'for the first time' because I'm hoping to figure out how to make it!  It's so yummy!  Nate got some tacos (forgot what kind) and I got the Wasabi Chicken Salad Sandwich.  It was actually in a wrap which surprised me :), but it was SO delicious!  All kinds of cool new things in it!  I LOVED trying something new and being somewhere new.  Very memorable.  We want to go back and get some of the orange and dark chocolate oil/balsamic.  It was so yummy on the sour dough bread!  Good stuff.  After dinner we raced over to Wise Guys.  I had to make a stop at the car for the diaper bag, Molly had totally started leaking.  The show was great!  I really liked the very first comedian... not to be confused with the other first comedians :) haha!  Just kidding.  The last guy, I can't remember his name... was a lot of fun.  I loved the tongue/retainer jokes and the open mic Sunday jokes especially. It was a lot of fun.  I had to make Maija's cake when we got home so we stayed up watching Dear John while it baked.  I had such a great time!  I love my Valentine!
side note: I did a new thing that night.  There was no changing table or even a counter in the bathroom at Wise Guys, and I had to go pretty bad as well (Sorry, TMI, I know), so I sat down, went, then changed Molly on my lap!!  Pretty awesome right?!  I feel pretty awesome, so it must be.  I was pretty proud of myself.  Just going to the bathroom with a baby in your arms takes talent (not new for me), but the rest of it!  Yeah, I'm awesome.  2-12-16

MAGIC CAKE
I loved that Maija asked me to make Elizabeth's cake for her!  Makes me feel special when I can do something like that for other people.  I did the magic hat with a bunny coming out of it.  It turned out really cute!  I need to post it on my cakes page I guess.  Finished it an hour early!  That never happens!  2-13-16

DATE WITH LUKE
I wish I'd taken a picture of us!!  I'm so mad I didn't!  Anyway!  Luke and I missed our originally scheduled date, I don't know how we both forgot on Tuesday.  But we made up for it today!  Luke chose IHOP for lunch and then Boondock's Arcade after.  IHOP was great.  We both ordered the same thing, only Luke's was on the kid menu so when they came out, mine was HUGE and his was puny!  Kinda funny.  He still only had one bite of mine though, so it must not have been too small :).  Luke was fun to visit with.  Then at Boondock's, on the first game we played, I pulled the arm and landed right on the 1000 Jack Pot Winner!  I got 1000 tickets!!  We were SO happy!  Luke wanted to trade cards then :).  The rest of the time was spent doing the games that give you the biggest payout :).  Luke is the king of luck, and knows just how to do it!  It was a lot of fun.  I enjoyed just being in his company all afternoon.  We ended up with 2,298 tickets!!  Pretty awesome!  Luke chose a basketball shooting game, a dart board, a propeller launching thing, a sour paint can candy, chewy sweethearts, starburst, froggies, and the giant tennis-looking ball.  It was like Christmas all over again!  He sure was happy about it all :).  I am so loving this date idea.  Nate gets all the credit.  2-13-16

PARENT TRAP
We watched the old Parent Trap today.  I talked Kelly into it.  The kids were all into it!!  It was so cool :).  I loved that movie!  Watched it at Grandma and Grandpa's almost every time Alicia, Becky and I slept over.  Even Noah said, "I didn't think I would like that show, but I really did!"  Kinda cool.  2-13-16
