PROVO CITY CENTER TEMPLE DEDICATION
I think it is so cool that The Church is doing the temple dedications the way they are, letting everyone participate in their respective buildings. It's such a blessing. I love that my kids get to experience something so special at such a young age. I loved the dedication. I had a few thoughts about family history and how I would like to start learning how to do the research. I have enough background I could start trying right now, so that is my goal. When I get stuck, I'll ask for help. This was motivating though. I loved that Elder Oaks was presiding. He made it so enjoyable. As Charity put it- he made it fun with his sweet sense of humor and candor. He was very pleasant. It was interesting to watch the cornerstone tradition, I don't know that I've seen that before? Time to invest in some handkerchiefs though. I'm bummed I forgot again. I just cut up some white fabric. It worked and I'm sure it was fine, but I'd rather use handkerchiefs. It was really fun to have our five older kids with us! I can't believe we have five over eight now! Blows my mind really. I was grateful for Emily's willingness to watch our other three. Especially Molly! I know she was crying the whole time but Emily was so nice about it. I was really grateful for the opportunity. I don't like to leave my babies until they're a year except with Nate, but we've broken that rule a few times with Molly. The rest of the day felt long- it was nice to have Kate and Will for a bit and then naps... I miss 9:00 church with all the time afterwards. It was a nice relaxing Sunday though. 3-20-16
AWESOME!
I feel so good about today! I never wanted this blog to be a boring day to day journal where I give a run down of everything that happened each day (surprised?), but today was fantastic! And I felt super awesome about it! It's all part of my new schedule and the order I am trying to bring to my life and our home. It's been awesome! I got so much done today and I wasn't exhausted :). I even got to go on a fun little walk with Emily and our kids. Which was a really nice little reward for my day :). It was so nice. I just have to be grateful and make a big deal about these days so that when it's not so good- I'm okay with it :). 3-21-16
NO SLEEPING ALLOWED
So.... Molly did not want me to sleep last night. She went to bed around 11:00, I went to bed around midnight. She wanted to eat at about 2:00 (I say about because I have a rule that I don't look at the clock until I'm done feeding her, but once I'm done I look at it to make sure it's not almost time to get up. When I looked at it after a VERRRRRRRRRRY long feeding, it was 2:38, so I am being very generous on the time here... anyway!) So I fed her until 2:38, put her back in bed, and then about (again with the estimate) 10 minutes later, she was crying and fussy again. I laid there waiting for her to calm down and go back to sleep for at least 10 minutes and then finally went and got her. I didn't have it in me to sit up and feed her so we laid down. She wasn't really into nursing, but she was definitely not into sleeping! And she was not her happy little midnight self, she was angry! She was growling and grunting and EVERY TIME I fell asleep, I kid you not, the instant that my brain shut off, she would scream! Like really loud! It was SO INSANE!!! I seriously just about lost it! It's so hard to keep calm during that. I had a big day ahead of me as well ( I say big because I had it so mapped out, it just couldn't be messed with!), so that made it worse. Anyway. Yes, this is a whole post of me whining about getting up in the night with my baby. Well... BEING up in the night... ALL NIGHT... with my angry baby. It was so hard. Then Jack joined us in bed and Nate left. Any hope of getting any kind of break from Molly was then gone AND I was dealing with Jack and his hurt legs. It was SO MISERABLE!!! I'm usually hesitant to complain about this stuff because I know that my kids are blessings and I know that some people would give their lives to be able to get up in the night with their own child, but this was seriously intense!! SO hard. These nights have to happen once in a while though (and hopefully we don't get a repeat any time soon) to keep things real. My kids are so awesome 99% of the time, so it's okay that we have these moments. And I'm happy to announce that I carried out my WHOLE DAY!! With only the tiniest beginnings of a nap (seriously it was like 5 minutes) because Molly woke up minutes after I laid down and got comfy. Isn't that how it goes. Nate picked her up and totally saved the day- how does he do that! Totally take back all the mean things I mumbled under my breath last night (wink wink... I would NEVER do that!). He is really a bright light in my life. I survived it all!! With clean floors to boot! And THANKFULLY, Molly got mad right as I was about to mop the floors today and so I never got to it. The thankful part being that the kids and their friends tracked mud ALL OVER THE HOUSE today and that would have totally irked me had I mopped. It is not going to be fun to scrub out of the carpet, but now I didn't mop for no reason. Yes, that was me looking on the bright side and I actually mean it! No sarcasm intended. I consider that a blessing! SO there ya have it folks- my tiredness at it's best. Here's to a good night's sleep- hopefully I get one. 3-22-16
UTAH COUNTY
So I've joked that this is my 5th county report and "UGH they're so much work" and bla bla bla, but I have to admit Luke has completely surprised me! He has done SO MUCH for this thing! I did a lot of the research part and the mechanics of cutting and pasting and printing pictures, but EVERYTHING else has been all him! Including his little model of the Y on the mountain :). Such a cool guy. I'm so proud of him and the progress he's made this year! It's incredible. All while dominating in the TTM world too!! Incredible. 3-22-16
CURLS
Taught Kelly how to curl her hair tonight and although there were a couple burns and a few tears shed, she did it! She's so awesome :). I'm happy for her. That's a big deal and she's cool for trying it. 3-22-16
PLAYGROUP
Playgroup was a success this week. I stood the whole time and didn't have any pain in my hips because of it. Everyone left while Emily was gone so I stood there by myself for a good 10 minutes and then Emily came! Souens like a recipe for perfection. HAHA... Sounds like I'm being sarcastic, but I'm totally not :). That's me. 3-23-16
CERAMICS
We took the Beehives to paint ceramics at Hand crafted art (I think that's what its called). It was a bummer that the one who we planned the activity for- to be doing something we knew she would enjoy, so that she could feel more welcome- couldn't be there, but we had a great time! The girls did great! We even got to have Charity there this week because her activity was cancelled. 3-23-16
LUNCH WITH KIM AND ANDREA
Kim and Andrea and I finally planned our outing and got together this Thursday. It was SOMUCHFUN!!! Talk about a nice relaxing evening! I love hanging out with Andrea and being able to catch up with her and it was even better to have Kim there to laugh with. It's just so cool that Kim will take time out of her busy life to hang out with her ol' young women :). We went to El Matador and stayed until they kicked us out! So much fun. We gotta do it again! 3-24-16
IDAHO MAYNES
Friday night we got to have the Idaho Mayneses sleepover! WE were so excited when they said they weren't tired and wanted to play before going to bed super late :). Since they didn't get here until 9:00. Kinda crazy. We had TONS of fun though! Saturday, Heather, Hannah, Kelly and I went and took Hannah's pictures, ran to Bowman's and everyone else went over to the ponds for some fishing. It was a lot of fun! The rest of the afternoon/evening we edited pictures, played every outdoor game under the sun, watched some Brian Regan, Cuthroat Kitchen and Carbonaro Effect! It was a FULL day! 3-26-16
WOMEN'S CONFERENCE
Nate's Mom invited us to get tickets to the Women's Conference at the conference center so that we could see her and two of the girls from their mission singing in the choir :). We were able to get five tickets so Charity, Kelly, Megan Callister, Aunt Jen and I all made our way to the conference center! It was nerve-racking to leave Molly, but Nate was so reassuring when I texted, I was finally able to relax about it. What a neat meeting, neat choir, and what a privilege to be there! I had so much fun talking with the girls on the way there and being able to sit with them through the whole meeting. I thought it was so cool that they included girls/women from 50 different countries, covering all 7 continents in that one choir! So cool! The only downside was the 20 minute wait to get out of the parking garage. Good times. 3-26-16
