I really loved my Sharing times this week. I had a nice long pep talk from Nate this week about focusing on doing what the Lord would have me do rather than being paranoid about what any of the adults in the room might be thinking regardless of how much I value their opinions. It helped. I was way more in tune to the Spirit and I was way more comfortable about what I was teaching. I'm not sure why I was shaking so bad- could be fasting I guess- but whatever. I taught them how to draw my six circles dog :). It was a good week for me. Got me all pumped for the rest of the month. 3-4-18
EMILY
I finally got to hang out with Emily again! This felt long awaited. It was nice to talk again. I wish Molly would have been more cooperative, but I guess I know better than to think that my kids are going to go along with my plans that are for me. Even Jack was being kind of weird. Not sure why that happens, but it's very normal for us. I just love Emily. I'm so glad she still lets me call her my friend :). 3-5-18
MANIC MONDAY
It wasn't really manic, just made me think of the song when I was going to title this "Busy Monday". We fit quite a bit of stuff into our Monday afternoon/evening. I took Kelly to Lax and then took Charity to Dominoes to order her pizza to answer Thomas to Prom. She had a pizza delivered to him with a big "YES" written on the pizza out of pepperonis. Kind of fun. Super easy :). We were both nervous about how it was going to go but I guess it turned out great! After Dominoes we went and got hair cuts for Erika, Charity and Molly. They all needed them and they all look great! Then we drove out to Bountiful to pick up Nate from a car dealership. He's been researching cars for a long time now, trying to figure out what is going to be the best car for us. His has been giving us trouble and we were going to get him a new one anyway since Charity will be getting her license soon. We hadn't planned on doing it all this soon, but the timing was right. Nate feels like he was supposed to do it a while ago when he felt prompted to start looking at cars. So this seemed like better late than never :). He's looking at Priuses and Hondas (probably just for me- I love Hondas). He test drove a few out there, didn't seem overly thrilled about any of them and so we just picked him up with the plan to keep looking later in the week. Then we headed home for FHE. 3-5-18
FHE
Jack had the lesson. He taught us about hopping on one foot and we took turns competing with each other on who could hop the most. We all related this to how it is much easier when we let the other foot help. I love that he gets into this and will brave the big group of older sibs and teach us. He's so cool. We had Nate's cheesecake for the treat. So delicious. We played hide and go seek as the activity. 3-5-18
LUNCH WITH BECKY
Becky and I met up at Carl's Jr. after our PTA board meeting for some lunch. I sure love Becky and the peace that she brings in my life. I feel so much myself when I am around her. I don't feel any competition with her or any judgement from her. It's so nice. I hope she knows how much I love her and love spending time with her. Maybe I should tell her sometime. We talked a lot about teachers. I turned in my teacher request forms this week and I keep second guessing everything I chose. I hope they just get the teachers who will be the best for them. Like I know what that is?? 3-6-18
NATE'S NEW CAR
After lunch with Becky, I picked up Nate (we went and moved some furniture at my mom's) then we went to our trusty ol' car dealership (we just keep going back to those Murdock Chevrolet guys), to look at some more cars. Nate test drove one that he had his eye on and ended up really loving it. It's a 2013 Prius. Silver. It's really nice. He wanted me to give it my stamp of approval, but really, I trust his judgement, it's his car, I really didn't care a whole lot what kind of car he got. I wanted him to be happy with it. So he went in and signed all the papers while Jack and Molly and I stuffed our faces with popcorn and wandered around the dealership. He didn't get to bring it home that day because he insisted on some detailing. It was nice to have that all done and out of the way. I could see the stress melt off of Nate. 3-6-18
KELLY REGISTRATION
I got to go to the school with Kelly and register her for High School!! Pretty exciting! She acts all cool about it, but I know she's just as giddy as I am for her inside :). She chose a lot of cool classes. She is aiming for Cosmetology school right now. I think she's going to have a great time in High School. 3-7-18
DRIVER'S ED
Charity has been in driver's ed this quarter- loving it- it's been fun to experience that with her. She just started driving this week! She had to get up pretty darn early on Thursday to go driving with her teacher. But I think it was probably worth it. She's got a girl in her car that has a very busy, unflexible schedule who is going to make it take a lot longer for Charity to get her license. She is very unhappy about that. We'll see how it goes. She is definitely getting really good at driving and has been very impressive. 3-8-18
THE PRIUS
We picked up the Prius Thursday! I don't care who you are or what kind of car it is, it's always fun to get a new (to us) car! We both wanted to just drive around in it all day :). It's actually a really fun car, too. I find so much satisfaction in driving a car that is not guzzling gas and throwing away money by the second :). So in that way I am very happy he got a Prius. I don't love the looks, but I think I'm used to them from driving our kidnapper van for almost a year now. I know that Priuses are supposed to be snob cars, but I am starting to think they are frugal cars. It cost about the same as the Hondas that year, but gets almost double the gas mileage! So I really don't know why anyone wouldn't want one. It's really a good option and very affordable. We had thought about just getting a junky old car for him, but I insisted that he get something nice. Nate deserves it. He works his butt off at a very stressful job day in and day out and has been driving around in Nana's old car for the past almost decade with no complaints about no air conditioning, no heat in the winter, the driver door not opening for about the last few years... I mean, he's done his time with the junky car (no offense, Nana, in fact, we keep it because we love you so much!!), he deserves something nicer. I only wish he wasn't so set on good gas mileage, he could have gotten the truck he's always wanted :). He's too practical for that right now I guess. Someday. 3-8-18
LITERACY NIGHT
I feel a little weird about PTA lately- Jami has been on top of everything and I... have not. I feel like I've pretty much checked out PTA-wise. I need to get myself back into it. But anyway. We had Literacy night on Thursday. Ended up being a lot of fun! I ran the new spinning wheel with the lame little prizes they were handing out there for the first hour and a half, but then I got to go around with the kids to see their work in their classrooms. I've always tried to make this a big deal because I get the feeling that our kids love that that room is THEIR space. It's pretty much the only thing on the whole planet that is JUST for THEM. I like that they have that so I try to make it special. They were all so cute about their stuff. Made me happy. I was also really happy that they couldn't get enough of my station during the first part :). They were all kind of hovering around. They kept getting in line so they could spin it again and again. They would come show me their books that they won in BINGO and basically just wanted to be where I was :). I loved it. It was a fun night. We all hurried out of there so that Nate and I could get off to Kelly's Lacrosse Parent meeting. Fun night though. 3-8-18
PARENTING
We had a little incident this week that made me feel like a crappy mom. I found out that one of my kids has been feeling a certain way about something and I didn't know about it. I had to hear about it from an outside source. This was really hard for me. I don't know why it bugs me so much to hear about my kids from other people, but it really does. I wish I could get over this. I mean how many times do I have to get myself over something before it becomes more natural to do so? But anyway- it did help to clear some things up for them and we were able to talk about it and talk about talking about those things in the future. So I guess it wasn't all bad. Just really tough pill for me to swallow. 3-8-18
LACROSSE PARENT MEETING
Lacrosse parent things are SOOOOOOO intimidating for me right now! I'm trying so hard to branch out and be involved. It is so hard though! Especially because Kelly is a lot like me and doesn't want to stand out or have her parents stand out in any way. So it's a balancing act. I have signed up to host a dinner one of the Fridays as well as doing the stats table (which we have to do) and I've been trying to get into it all. We went to this meeting to learn how to take stats. It was very informative and I really enjoyed it. I hope I don't screw up the stats, but I think it's going to be kind of fun. I'm getting so excited for this season to get started! I can't wait for our first game Monday. Kelly has been loving the team and having a great time, minus the people who don't take it as seriously as she does! 3-8-18
DISNEY MOVIES
We started our first week of disney movie watching- we decided we needed to catch up on our Disney if we're going to go to Disneyland this summer. Watching Alice In Wonderland was our first item of business :). I think the kids actually enjoyed it :). Even Molly. Til I got sick of her grumpiness and put her in bed. It was time. We're going to watch a different one every week. 3-10-18
