Journaling Week of 6-9-13

 FIRST DAY OF SUMMER!!!-
Monday we had a Cooking Class, as per Charity's request, to learn how to make Chocolate Chip Cookies.  I had the kids write down some things they want to do for Mom School this summer and that was the only thing requested so far :).  So we did it!  I think everyone had fun.  It was fun to teach them some baking techniques, and I think Charity will be more confident next time she make them. 
We also had a fun FHE at Pond's Park, Luke's choice, on the playground.  That was a lot of fun.  I LOVE that we have that park so close!

TUESDAY-
Kelly had her first Physical Therapy appointment for her back pain.  It's been hard for me to accept the fact that she needs this, but after talking with the PT, I'm convinced that this will be a very good thing for her.  Hopefully the back pain can be alleviated.  I'm looking forward to learning some new relaxation techniques, and back exercises that will help Kelly.

I did my dinner group that day as well.  The kids had all been at my Mom's for the appointment and my shopping, then Erika and Noah stayed with her and ran some errands with her while the big kids and I went home.  I was able to prepare my meals in less than an hour!  AMAZING!!!  And then left the big kids home while Jack and I went back to Bountiful.  Picked up Noah and Erika at McD's, then dropped off my dinners.  It was a crazy afternoon!  I wished I'd been able to do more fun stuff with the kids, but I don't think they minded having an hour or so to themselves to watch TV and veg. 

That night we had the Widdisons over for a little BBQ and Slip-n-slide.  That was a lot of fun!  I am glad our kids all get along pretty well.  I'm looking forward to having kids for my kids to play with so close by :)


WEDNESDAY-
We were going to go to the little $1.00 morning movie, to get us out of the house so that Nate could sleep after the mid, but we didn't get ready fast enough.  There was a lot of playing with friends and watching TV that day too.  It was nice.  I've loved just sitting and relaxing in our home.  Something that hasn't been enjoyable for quite some time now.  Once Nate woke up we met Becky and her kids over at the Splash Park, one we've never been to, here in Kaysville, SO CLOSE!!  LOVE THAT!!  It was super windy and the clouds had come and were covering the sun, so that was a bit of a let down.  The kids were freezing.  If it hadn't been so much trouble to get everyone there, I don't think we would have stayed as long.  But some of them got wet and still had a good time :).

That night I got to go out with Becky, Maija, Kirstin, and Kirstin's friend, for dinner and a movie.  I had a blast!!!  It was such a nice break.  Missed my sweet husband and my kiddos, but really, it was a much needed time out for me.

THURSDAY-
Spent the morning getting my root canal and tooth filled.  That was a crappy way to spend the day.  Then when I got home, we'd missed the free movie, so we bummed around.  I actually was in tons of pain, so I took some ibu and fell asleep.  It was nice that everyone was out having fun with friends and Jack was asleep, so I didn't miss out on too much.
Then we went on a little walk to the ponds.  Nate and the kids caught some fish.  Kelly and I had to leave early because her back was bothering her.  It was a nice walk home with her though, some one on one time.  I think our kids are needing some more of that lately...

That night, Nate, Charity, and Kelly all went to their little Daddy-daughter activity.  Sounded like they had a good time playing poke the pig and roasting marshmallows and stuff.  I love that they get to go do those things together now!  Fun stuff.

The boys and I had a wii night after dinner.  That was a big hit :).  I would have liked it better had there not been extra friends, but it was still a good time.

PRE-FATHER'S DAY BREAKFAST-
We knew Nate was going to be working on Sunday evening, so we knew we wouldn't be able to see Nate's Dad on Father's Day.  So we planned a special little hang out with he and Grandma Ruthie for Saturday morning.  We met up with them in Salt Lake at our new favorite Waffle House.  The traffic was so ridiculous, and parking was a joke, but that didn't stop us from having a ton of fun with Nate's parents.  There was a little Vietnamese family selling homemade jewelry and purses and stuff, right next to our table.  Nate's mom couldn't resist, so she ended up buying a few things.  And of course, some bracelets for all the kids!  She's so cute how she spoils our kids.  I do love that.  We all ate our yummy waffles and were on our way home to see Becky and her family who were fishing in our ponds here.  But it was a good time.  I love the "one on one" time with Grandma and Grandpa.  Very special.  6-15-13
