MIA MAID CLASS
I went to my first Mia Maid class since probably 2005, on Sunday. I loved it! I still feel a little out of place, of course, but I'm SO excited to get to know the girls. I love teenagers. I think they are the funnest people on the planet. I'm a little nervous to teach next Sunday, but hopefully all is well. I'm loving the new Come Follow Me program. Hopefully I can teach it the right way :) 3-23-14
CHARITY SPOKE IN SACRAMENT MEETING
She's only been in young women's for about two weeks so i was surprised when she was asked to give a talk in sacrament meeting. She was really excited about it. Confirmed the topic a few times with Bro. Jacox, fretted over what to say and then with no coaching, or help at all, she wrote one of the most beautiful talks I've heard in a while. i was really impressed. When sacrament meeting started, so didthe nerves. They almost got the best of her and she darted our of the chapel. I was shocked, but knowing how I feel about giving talks, I just had to go out and offer her some comfort I hope what I said helped was okay. I wanted her to face her fears. She was so brave and went back in there. It was a long wait as they did the sacrament, but she toughed it out. Sis. Morrell could tell she was struggling and had her scoot closer to her and put her arm around her and then quietly whispered to her that she just pictures the audience naked and then she doesn't get so nervous :). What a funny lady, i just Love her :). Charity have her talk perfectly. she did such an amazing job. She had everyone dumbfounded thatshe had written the talk herself. she really it's such an awesome girl. I think she was very relieved to have that over with. Im so proud of her.
FHE
Nate gave Jack's lesson this week. We learned about labels. Kelly was the scribe and she wrote something wonderful, I will have to post that later. 3-24-14
PICNIC
Nate, the littles and I walked to the park and had a little picnic on Tuesday on our way to take Noah to school. The kids had so much fun playing on the playground. Makes me so happy to be getting closer to summer. We knew the rainy weather was coming up and wanted to make the most of the sunshine. It was a nice peaceful walk. I enjoy those times with Nate most of all. Erika did so good, only got tired near the last block. She's such a tough girl. 3-25-14
THE HIKE
So this week for mutual we were planning on a hike. It rained all day that day, so I kind of thought they were going to cancel it and Debbie had mentioned a movie night. I decided that Jack Jack and Erika and I for that matter, were too sick for me to go and leave them all. So I cancelled with Emily for babysitting. I
went to drop Charity off and get in on the opening exercises, left a sleeping Erika and a tired Jack along with the other 3 with Kelly. When the youth finished voting, we realized the hike was still on! Charity was not prepared for it and had turned the idea off, so she was no longer interested. I didn't want her to miss though, so I asked if she would go if I did. She said yes, so I decided to surprise Kelly with a babysitting job. Jack was looking almost asleep when we came back to give instructions and grab Charity's coat, so I was sure things would be okay. I told her to text Emily or Grandma if she needed anything :). And Charity and I went on the hike. The hike was a lot steeper than I had planned. It was probably too much for me, as much as I hate to admit it. On the hike I was thinking it was just how hard the hike was, but the more I think about it and the lack of soreness in the morning, I really think it had a lot to do with my lungs and how much they already hurt from this dumb cold. I did pretty good though, kept up with everyone. But I was dying. My face was purple. It usually gets pretty red, but this was more. The Bishop even asked if I was going to be okay because my face looked so red. Kind of embarrassing, whatever. I'm just way more out of shape than I like to believe. Kinda stinks. I wish my working out in the mornings was counting more for something. But anyway. I had a good time with Charity and with the other leaders and girls. It's hard for me to be patient with the whole getting to know people thing, but I do love being with them. When we got home the kids were all sitting on the couches, calm and quiet, just watching a movie, perfectly content. It was such a blessing and so heavenly. We had scriptures and prayer and went to bed. So much better than last week. I really worried about things last week, but I'm not worried anymore. 3-26-14
TEMPLE
We planned on going to the Ward Temple night this week. I was SO EXCITED!! My mom came to tend and we left. At about the Parrish Lane exit Nate asked if I had remembered my recommend. RATS!!! I had totally forgotten it and my wallet was no longer in the car- UGH~! So we turned around. I was so bummed because I just love seeing people from the ward there and spending that time together- not sure why I love it so much, I rarely even get to sit by people I know- there's just something about everyone's presence :). So anyway- we rushed back home, rushed back to the temple and got dressed and up the stairs by 6:55- we were shooting for the 7:00 session. But at the top of the stairs we found a huge crowd of people- the place was completely packed!! I've never seen the temple so packed! It was awesome! I was a little bummed that we weren't going to make the session, but sitting there in peace and quiet is never a bad thing. We did see the Larsens from our ward, that was nice :), they were in the same session with us. And we were able to get into the 7:30 session. It was such a neat experience. I love being there. I love the peace. I love being so spiritually fed that I almost feel like I can't receive it all. It's just such a great feeling. I love that we were able to go. We stopped for some frostys on our way home, and came home to a pretty peaceful home. I appreciated that. Our kids are so awesome. I really am so impressed with how well-behaved they are lately. They deserve so much credit for how they are. I really couldn't ask for more from them. 3-27-14
FIRST DAY OF SPRING BREAK
The kids did their jobs quickly and we were out the door for the Castle park at 10:30. I was so excited about this, it was our playgroup redo for the week. I so need my playgroup time! My kids were all excited though, and played long and hard!! I couldn't believe it had been 2 1/2 hours when we left!! Amazing. Felt like a third of that! I love the ladies in my ward- they are so fun to visit with. I feel like everyone's okay with who I am, and it's nice to finally feel that way again. It's been a while. My kids are the oldest in our little group, so it's not as fun for my big kids, but they still had a good time. I think they were more helpful than anything though. They are such blessings to me. After the park we went to Walmart- everyone wanted treats for their late nights that they were planning. That was fun. I love trips to the store when they are all just so well-behaved, we can walk through picking out all the things we need, everyone is happy and sharing their money, and the littles are not whining and crying. It's just so nice. People look at us so weird. I forget how many looks we get with all seven kids crowded around the cart- but really- I'd take my seven of some peoples' two any day! They're awesome. This one lady stopped to talk about how many kids I have and when I said, "Seven." She bounced back with an, "ARE YOU KIDDING?" Well, they're all right here, I don't feel like I could get away with something that ridiculous without proof :)! Even though it is a bit of a joke sometimes :). She was funny. Not rude. I love that I have my seven kids. I wouldn't trade them for the world. It was a great day. We came home and relaxed, everyone just did what they wanted and we were all getting along. It was heavenly. That night we had lots of friends over, played night games, watched movies, it was nice. Nate and I played Monopoly with Luke because he was "bored". That was a lot of fun. I love Lukey's obsession with Monopoly :). He worked on his tooth all evening, still trying to pull it out. He wants to get it out in time to show Kambree tomorrow :). Cute kids. Anyway- good times. I'm so happy it's spring break. I love having everyone home together. This is going to be a good weekend.
WOMEN'S CONFERENCE
I got us tickets for the "Historic Women's Conference" this year! It was the first time since 1992 that they've invited younger girls. This year anyone 8 and older got to attend! Pretty fun! Charity, Kelly and I were totally excited to be able to go to the conference center and see it live! We got our hands on a couple more tickets and had to invite the Maughans to come with us! We all went out to Applebee's for an early dinner and then we raced the clock to SLC. Thank Heaven for Emily's amazing parking lot! We totally made it in under 20 minutes! I couldn't believe it. We had pretty good seats on the left side of the room. I guess I took some pictures of us there, but I haven't uploaded my phone pics yet, so those are yet to come. It was a beautiful meeting! Lots of music, even some impromptu name that tune songs. I loved the Spirit there! I loved how Charity was fascinated with how quickly it got quiet when the Prophet came out. That still gives me chills. I love being in that huge place with all those thousands of people and knowing that we are all sisters in the Gospel. That we are all kinda "in this together". Makes me happy. I loved spending that time with my girls and with our friends. I love Emily- I think she's the best thing that's happened to me in a long time friend-wise. She's a blessing. After the conference, we stopped at Baskin Robins for some ice cream. It was a pretty cool evening. Definitely one we'll remember. 3-30-14
