"You are not here to live a mediocre to average life; you are here to live an amazing life, a miraculous life. If it weren't for your challenges, there would be no miracles. You must do that which seems impossible, for it is only in the impossible that miracles are had." - author unknown, but very respected

Things to Remember Week of 12-22-14

NO CHURCH FOR ME
I had to miss church on Sunday.  That was a pretty big let down.  Especially because the Christmas program is one of my favorites.  But even more so because of all that my kids were involved in that day.  Which is why they were all so anxious to go even though it meant sitting through Sacrament without me.  They were insistent that they go.  That made me proud of them and stressed me out at the same time.  I called Kenni to see if she would be my little spy through Sacrament mtg.  She also offered to drive them to and from.  Luke gave his talk on Remembering and worshipping the Savior.  Then for Sacrament meeting the boys and Kelly all sang with the Primary, Charity sang with the Young Women and then she and Kelly sang with the choir as well.  I keep hearing about how well they all did in their singing and in their behavior during the meeting.  Lots of praise and compliments from many people.  It's a nice relief to know that when they have to, they can sit through that meeting without me.  It's funny to think that they might actually do better without me there.  I am still sad I missed that day.  12-22-14

MOM AND SIMON'S PARTY
So because Erika was sick, She Jack and I also missed out on my Mom's party.  Luckily the big kids still got to go.  Unfortunately Bradley started feeling sick while he was there so we went and picked up most of them a little early.  Luke, Noah and Charity stayed to play a game.  12-22-14

NO GINGERBREAD HOUSES
Monday was supposed to be our Gingerbread making hangout with the Petersens, but with all the throwing up and stuff everyone was doing, we had to cancel.  That was a big let down for many of us.  Nate and I ended up doing a little bit of shopping that afternoon and then we had a nice relaxing FHE at home.  Nate had us each talk about a favorite Christmas memory and then we played Imaginif.  It was a fun night.  12-23-14

CHRISTMAS PREP
So with all the sickies and surprises this month, I was totally backed up on all shopping and prepping for Christmas.  It was such a bummer.  I had felt so relaxed this year and so unphased by all the hustle and bustle, but that came to an abrupt hault.  Kelly had to hurry and make and pass out our neighbor gifts.  Nate did a lot of the last minute shopping on his own.  I was cramming in a lot of crocheting for family gifts, and all was well, but all was chaotic as well.  I was relieved when all the vomitting stopped before the 24th.  I couldn't see us going to my Dad's with a recent vomitter.  12-23-14

HOMEMADE CHRISTMAS
A lot of years ago, Nancy mentioned that they had done a year where they only made homemade gifts for each other.  I thought that sounded so cool but never did it until this year!  We drew names as we always do, but decided the gifts should be mostly homemade.  I was so excited for all the ideas that everyone had come up with and was able to assist with most of them.  I really enjoy that kind of stuff.  The kids all enjoyed it too, so we've decided to carry this on and do it again next year.  Hopefully to become a new tradition!  12-24-14

NO HOT WATER AND A CRAPPY FURNACE
So the last few days since Christmas have been interesting ones :).  GREAT! because we've had plenty to do and plenty to not do :).  But not so great because the hot water heater broke.  It's been pooping out on us a lot lately and then this week it finally kicked the bucket.  Kind of a bummer since I like to shower every once in a while, but at least we've been able to get it looked at and replaced now and it's only been three days!!  I keep thinking we should have stories about heating pots of water on the stove to bathe in and stuff, but we don't.  Just a bunch of stinky people!  Maybe it's because it's Christmas break I haven't felt the need to go into survival mode.  That's a nice thing though.  So anyway- something to remember this Christmas by.  12-18-14
