- We're stuck at home with the car not working, and I'm going stir crazy!! Funny how I can spend everyday home and be fine wtih it, but then the ONE DAY that I don't have a car, I can only think of places to go and things to do AWAY from home. And it's making me crazy. Luckily my Mom was inspired to come and visit. And conveniently she was available to take Brad to school for me as well. Steve's off the hook I guess :) He was trying to avoid me anyway :) jk. Thanks Mom. And thanks to everyone who has been available to chat with!! I'm DYING HERE!!!! 9-21-10
- The other day, when things were a little heated here at home, Luke got mad and tore up his sticker chart. I know, pretty disturbing huh!! Well, he had already filled in ALL but 2 of the squares (and there were too many, a mistake on my part), I think he was starting to feel manipulated a little by the urge to fill it in and my bribing him with the stickers for every little thing that he DIDN'T want to do. I mean that's how it's supposed to work, but these kinds of things have always been a little more than Luke's pride can take. He's above that. But he had done so well with the first 20 something squares.... I thought he would make it. So anyway, he tore it up and threw it away and I was just going to leave it at that, not let him get the prize he was supposed to get when it was completed, and just leave it alone for a while. Well, not Kelly! Kelly had other plans. This morning 9-22-10, she spent her free time making Luke a NEW sticker chart!! And this is the cute part. It wasn't just a blank piece of paper with squares again, she filled in ALL but 2 of the squares with yep, you guessed it, stickers!!!! And let's be honest, she did a LOT more squares than I had had :) So LOTS of stickers :) HA! Makes me laugh even though I feel like we've just wasted a whole sheet of stickers (because we have :) HA!) But isn't that sweet of her!! She's so thoughtful. She must get that from her Daddy. I think Luke was appreciative, but he is not making any promises about the last two squares :) We'll see. I'm remembering why it was so hard to potty train this kid! He's a tough one! Rewards just don't hold much ground! The wii though..... that's a good reward. I need to use that one more often. Anyway.... sweet Kelly and her little brother Luke live happily ever after.... The End.
- Last night 9-22-10, Kelly and I had our date night. On Sunday she sat by me at the piano during the prelude music and sang all the songs as I played. She really enjoyed it, so we decided that having her come with me to sing as I practiced the songs would be a fun date for us. My Mom has a piano so that's where we headed. Kelly has such a beautiful voice!! She's so good! It's funny how kids just kinda pop out these amazing little talents, almost out of nowhere! She's always been into singing, and she has always had a good voice, but just recently she's bloomed some more! It's fun for me. I have always loved playing and singing and especially with someone else. She and I were able to harmonize a couple of times, SO FUN!! I can't wait till the day when we can have a piano again, and just sit around and sing and play to our heart's content :) After the music, we went and got some ice cream together. At one point I was talking about dating a little (I'm not sure how we got on the subject) and I mentioned that guys open doors for girls, and Kelly says to me, "If boys are supposed to open the doors for girls, then what do girls do for the boys?" I almost cried when I heard that!!! SO SWEET!!!! It makes me so proud to know that she would be the one to think of that. Wondering what SHE can do. That's just like Kelly though, so thoughtful and giving. We thought of LOTS of things together, and it felt like a really productive conversation as far as laying down a foundation for that kind of thing. And not that I want my 7 year old to think about dating already, but I don't think it's ever too early to learn how to be courteous and thoughtful of the opposite sex. She's gonna make a real sweet wife someday.
- Erika has been SO CUTE LATELY!!!!! Last night 9-21-10 (too late, but I'll take late if she'll give me happy :) ) she was a little doll!!! Somehow she got her hands on this giddy energy that just took her to this whole new place. She was smiling, laughing, moving around really fast, climbing all over me and Grandpa on the couch. She was LOVING her kitty book and the giraffe book that Grandpa read her. It was A D O R A B L E and I loved it!! It has been about 3 days now where she has been really fun to have around. Maybe I said this already, but before she was hard to set down, she would cry really easily, and need to be nursed back to happiness.... it's been really sad, but the last few days, she's come out of that and just been such a pleasant little girl!!! She'll crawl around now and just entertain herself with random things, she enjoys it too!! It's just fun. I'm glad that she is able to be more independent. For her sake and especially mine. I was definitely starting to lose it. Hopefully we can get her to sleep more at night now too :) Or maybe I am just getting greedy now :)
- Sunday night (9-26-10) Luke came out of the bathroom with a soapy toothbrush to his belly button. He proceeded to scrub it with a great big smile on his face. We all got a good laugh and then out of nowhere, Charity exclaimed, "that's MY toothbrush!!!!" It was hilarious. Luke thought it was so funny that he went back in the bathroom, came out with someone else's toothbrush in his hair!!! He's a goof.
- Today 9-28-10, I got to meet Ashleigh at the park. What a NICE BREAK FOR ME!!!! I had such a nice time. Just when I start to feel like I don't have any friends, one shows up :) Thanks again Ashleigh, sure was fun!! Why didn't I get any pictures?!!!
