Future Memories

- Tuesday was the 2nd crappy day in a row.  And I'm not just talking about a regular crappy day, I was on my last lap.  It was crazy.  And I'm sure a lot of it was hormones (no, I'm not pregnant, but I am not keeping a very regular nursing schedule, so I know that throws my body off), but I was really ready to quit.  I totally felt like the crappiest mom ever.  And it was weird because usually I can think of things I can do to be better, but the only stuff I could think about was stuff I was just not motivated to do.  It was like I knew what needed to be done, but I just didn't wan tto do it and that was making me feel hopeless.  It was weird.  Anyway, Nate let me cry it out.  I said a prayer and felt a little better.  And then we went to the dinner with our friends and I was magically all better.  It was nice.  I hate moments like that, but I guess I survived.  Hopefully it's a while before I have to have one again.

- Tuesday night (12-28-10) we went out to South Jordan for a dinner with our old friends from Taylorsville.  Julie came up from Vegas and organized a fun little dinner.  It's so amazing to me how comfortable I feel with these people.  It's really like family.  Christy spoiled me with a yummy cake and everyone sang Happy Birthday.  So nice.  I really do think I get MORE attention for my birthday than most people because people think I get little and try to compensate :)  The one great thing about it is I always get to share my birthday and the days surrounding, with lots of family and friends.  It's cool for that reason.  Anyway, I just had a really great time hanging out with everyone.  They've all taught me so many things and their examples are shining.  It's hard for me to think about all of them without wishing we still lived nearby and could play more often.  That time in our life, when we lived in our cute little house in Taylorsville, is a precious one.  We have so many fond memories of that ward and neighborhood.  It's just too bad that house was so stinkin' small.  Anyway, good times.  Thanks again Julie!

- Tuesday night we left the girls at Meg and Chris' house and brought Enoch home with us.  The boys insisted that they have a movie night and some chocolate.  So Nate stopped at the store and picked up The Last Air Bender and some candy and popcorn.  They got out the sleeping bags and actually lasted a lot longer through the movie than I thought they would.  It was a lot of fun for Brad and Luke to have their cousin over.

- Sarah came over with Charlie on Wednesday.  I avoided doing my laundry some more and got to sit and talk with her all afternoon.  It was much needed.  I'm always happy to sit and chat.

- Wednesday we planned on picking up the girls, dropping off Enoch and then having dinner with the Lignells, but things went differently.  It started snowing early in the evening and just didn't stop!  It was the kind of snow that slows traffic.  On our way there, as we were getting on to I-215 we realized we didn't want to be driving home in that mess at 10:00 at night.  We called the Lignells and cancelled our dinner with them, and then continued on the trek to get the girls.  It was INSANITY!!!  Cars off the road everywhere.  We actually helped tow one lady up 6200 S. and then Nate got out and pushed someone else a little further up the road.  It was really crazy.  We got the girls and slowly made our way home.  Altogether it took us about 3 hours round trip.  Not too bad, but we were all very grateful to have made it home and safely.

- Thursday my car still wasn't working right, so we just kind of bummed around.  I felt bad since our Christmas break was coming to an end, but we managed to squeeze some fun out of the day.  I took lots of pictures of the kids playing in the snow, I"ll have to add those later.

- Friday we got up early to go get Kelly's ballet shoes from the only store in town that had WHITE ballet shoes.  Unfortunately they're not the leather kind.  Kelly doesn't seem to care.  She is VERY excited for her ballet class to start up on Monday.  This was one of her Christmas gifts. 

- After picking up the ballet shoes we slowly (and I mean S L O W L Y) got ready for sledding with the Hatches.  I can't believe how long it took us to get all our gear on!  We didn't get out the door til' two hours past the time we had planned!!!  We had some trouble with our car which was VERY frustrating since we had just barely put in a new battery the day before.  (we have been having to jumpstart the car any time we used it for the last week or so, and thought a new battery would do the trick)  Well, it fixed the battery problem, but when we tried to start it to go sledding it wouldn't work.  Tried jumping it, and it still didn't work.  Nate and I both thought it sounded like it had when the started needed to be replaced and when Brent heard that, he remembered a trick he'd heard of where you tap on the starter.  Sure enough, he found the starter, tapped on it, and it worked!!!!  We've yet to have to jump it since then!  (and this is 2 days later!)  He sure saved the day.  I'm kicking myself for not following the prompting to pray with the kids about it while Brent and Nate were working on the car.  Perfect opportunity to teach them.  Instead I had just prayed in my head.  It worked of course but not as beneficial to my kids :)  Charity says that she had said a prayer though, so maybe it's okay :)  We had an AWESOME time sledding.  Luckily Brent and Sarah had their camera there and they painstakingly got lots of pictures.  Hopefully I can steal some of them.  Erika got so cold and hungry that we left sooner than I would have liked to!  But we came home and had a crazy, thrown together lunch with the Hatches, including some homemade hot chocolate.  I don't know if I'll ever buy the instant stuff again.... it's too easy to make it!  Then we got ready for our movie with Aunt Jen.  For the last couple of years she's bought tickets for the whole family to go see a movie together.  It's a lot of fun!  This year was Narnia.  The kids seemed to love it!  I think this was Erika's last movie theater movie for a while, she's a pill.  There was a super scary part at the end.  Noah was out with Nate and Erika, Luke and Charity covered their eyes (Luke actually pushed my hands onto his really hard, it was that scary :) ) and Kelly and Brad toughed it out, and refuse to admit that it was scary.  I was scared.  Our New Year's Eve was pretty mellow after that.  We got home so late that the Hatches didn't come over and we were just so tired it was kinda lame.  The kids did the countdown though, banged their pots and pans at midnight, and then we all just crashed.  happy new year.  it's tiring with kids.  This was the last day of nursing Erika.  It's been harder for me I think, but I think I'll be okay. 

- Sunday, 1-2-11 our first Sunday with Nate in Sacrament meeting in over 4 months..... HEAVENLY!!!!!  I only spent about 20 minutes in the foyer with a restless Erika, and I loved it.  It was also my first time in my new calling as Brad's Primary teacher.  I really loved it.  My team teacher taught today, we'll see how it goes when I have to teach :)  I'd so much rather just sit there and listen to all the cute kids' comments :)  I love Primary.

- Sunday evening Claire came over, had dinner with us and kept me company for the rest of the evening while the kids completely bounced off the walls and destroyed the place.  Felt like the good ol' days in Taylorsville when Claire would come over and chat till the wee hours of the night.  Good times.  I'm so grateful for friends.
