- Saturday night, after getting home from camping, having Nate unpack everything while I slept, bathing all the kids, we got all dressed up and went to Amy Cockayne's Wedding Reception. It was such a beautiful reception! They had it in the huge yard of her husband's family's home. The line lead us to a Photobooth where we got y\our picture taken as a family (we had to split up and do girls in one and boys in another), then we got to visit with just Amy and Randy (love that we didn't have to shake hands with a bunch of people we didn't know), which was so nice! I'm so happy for her!!! They had amazing food! Beautiful decor, everything was white with Plum and Green accents. They even had green cotton candy!! SO FUN!! I totally loved it! And of course we got to visit with a lot of the old neighbors from the Ridgecrest ward. That never gets old for some reason :) Of course the Coles who I just will never get enough of (especially that cute little Lilly), The Goddards, CLAIRE! and her grown up neice!, Tami Madsen and her old kids, Valerie Koeber and her old daughter (Seriously these kids are SO GROWN UP!), Spencer Strickland, the Cockaynes of course, with the sweet newest one! Emily's baby was only 10 days old and was just beautiful! Erika loved looking at her.... it was just so perfect! I loved it. We picked up our promised ice cream on the way home and the kids could hardly eat any of it they were all stuffed with yummy -reception food :) go figure.... It was a nice evening. 7-30-11
- Church felt like a blurr on Sunday. I was so tired from waking up early and cramming for my lesson that I had forgotten I was teaching, I barely remember any of it. Which is good because I spent most of Sacrament meeting out in the foyer.... which actually, I did love listening to the talks! It was my friend Linsey and her husband. I recently recruited them into the ward (we met at school and they needed a place to rent, so I told her about the house in the ward.... handpicked neighbors- that's what we call that :) ). They did such a great job on their talks. The Spirit was so strong. I came home from church and crashed. Luckily everyone else did too.... for a little while :).... then for dinner we had Brent and Sarah bring over the leftovers from camping and we all finished it off with Steve too. Good times. 7-31-11
- Monday was my day to clean the playroom!! I have been putting it off for a while now and when Charlie h-d an accident in there the night before, I decided I better go clean it out. I realized why I had been putting it off so long when after FOUR HOURS I had 4 garbage bags full of toys to D.I., and then 3 other bags FULL of GARBAGE!!!!! Who knew. Well, I did..... but I was in denial. It is all VERY organized now and better last a couple more days like that. I thought about locking the door and not letting anyone in there, but HA! there's no door!!! So that's a no. I should at least take pictures though.... Proof. Crazy to think how fast it gets messed up! 8-1-11
- At dinner Monday night, Erika WOWed us all with her "want. a. drink. of. wah. ter." A WHOLE SENTENCE from our little princess!!! She got lots of high fives, clapping, and chanting to get her to do it again :). It was actually REALLY cute and quite the huge jump from what we're used to hearing from her!! It always seems to happen overnight with kids..... hopefully this is the beginning of a new phase for her :) 8-2-11
- And then at scripture time we had an even more fun time when Kelly got Erika to "read" with us. Kelly and she were bonding at the moment, so one little request from Kelly to sit down next to her and read with her and Erika was there! She said as many words as she could with Kelly prompting her. SO CUTE!! It's been a while since we even tried this, and back then it was a mere attempt, so I think she really is making some progress!! How fun! High fives and claps all around this time as well! 8-2-11
- Tuesday I woke up with the crazy idea to go pick up Nate's pig that he ordered a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure why I thought I wanted to do that, since it was out in Spanish Fork, but it turned out to be a really fun day! We got to visit my old friend Andrea, her husband John, and their three adorable kids. If it's going to be last minute, I usually try not to bother with it, but even though Andrea had been having a really bad headache that day, she still consented to a whole bunch of visitors. Things actually went really well there. The kids all played together so nicely it was really great! I got to sit and talk!!! The cutest part was when Charity, Kelly and Charley (Andrea's oldest) came out and told us what they had just figured out. They said, almost in unison, "Charity is 9, Kelly is 8, Charley is 7, Bradley is 6, Luke is 5, Ean is 4, Noah is 3, Sam is 2, and Erika is 1!!!" How cool is THAT! And there's a very small window where this is possible, I think we just barely made it! Pretty cool. So after finishing off their pitcher full of candy we decided we'd overstayed our welcome :). We went to pick up the pig. Nate heard about this place a while ago, you buy the pig, they kill it, you pay a butcher to cut it, and you end up with more pork than you know what to do with, but it's about half the cost! I'm really excited to find some yummy pork chop and pulled pork recipes now ;) And oh the bacon.... mmmmmmmm..... so delicious. Filled up 3 coolers and then some. On our way home we stopped to visit Heidi who just happened to be home from work with a really bad cold. We thought a slushie from Sonic might help soothe her sore throat.... and it gave us an excuse to visit. Until my kids started getting restless, we had a really good time talking. I enjoyed it. Heidi was very sweet to let us barge in and be all chaotic while she was feeling crappy. 8-3-11
- Tuesday night the Relief Society Presidency visited. They've been trying to visit for about 8 months now! It was a nice visit, though I wish I could give people a better, more complete sampling of myself in the short amount of time I am given during those visits. I feel like I'm too much.... like a 7 course meal.... and I just feel short changed when they're only given a couple of the 7! Anyway, I just hate the impression I assume people are left with. Oh well. They're really sweet ladies and I was glad to have a minute to visit. 8-3-11
- Also Tuesday night, after the kids were in bed, Nate and I went outside to watch the rain (the storm had come on SO suddenly) and in the space of about 5 minutes we watch a tiny little white cloud grow into a HUGE gray one! It was SO fascinating! I don't know if I've just never paid attention, or what but I've never seen that before! It was really neat to watch. By then the kids had made their way outside to marvel on the abundant water that was careening down the street. They can't get enough of the overflowing gutters! They all danced around in their pjs and got all wet.... it was really fun! I love those moments! 8-3-11
- Wednesday we went swimming finally. Apparently I needed a reminder of how much I dislike taking the kids swimming by myself. I'm not sure why, but we did it. It's always such a pain! I hate to be so negative about it because I know the kids love it and while we're there we usually have a lot of fun, but it's just so nerve-racking for me. The getting ready, the keeping track of everyone, having the dumb little lifeguards tell me what I need to do with my kids (I know they're just doing their jobs, I used to do that too, but it's SO ANNOYING!), the potty breaks, the back and forth from the indoor pool to the outdoor and then to the diving board pool after PLENTY of nagging from the older kids, and then listening to the little ones complain while they sit there and watch..... it's just insanity! We did have fun though. Noah was ALL over the place. He would not stay by me. I had to keep getting after him. He loves pretending like he's drowning so that I have to grab him. Seriously. He had fun shooting me with the water guns too :). Luke loved the sprayers as well. And he was having WAY too much fun trying to dunk me... he's gonna be a real treat to take swimming when he gets old enough to actually do it! He liked wandering off too. Erika had SO much fun the whole time! She loved the slides, loved jumping, kicking her feet, she actually really liked all the water splashing around her, luckily, since that place is so full of sprayers and splaching things, she liked being with me so that was nice. Her and Noah would scream whenever I tried to take everyone through the lazy river.... so we didn't do that a lot. I got glimpses of Charity, Kelly and Bradley.... either in the river or running (yep, they would run.... we are a lifeguard's worst nightmare) up to the line for the big slide. They seemed to be having a lot of fun. Poor Kelly isn't tall enough to go on her own, she rides with Charity, but that's still pretty cute to watch. I'll never forget the look of sadness on Erika's face when I told her she was too small to go on the big yellow slide. She seemed so disappointed. And so offended that I would call her little. We ran into our friend Danielle DALLAS (I got her name wrong when I was telling Charity she was "Sis. Dodge" DUh. I hate it when I do that) She was there with her only daughter Molly who is just a few months younger than Erika. I wish I had been so fun to take a one year old swimming. I don't remember the idea of it even occurring to me at the time.... so weird. But it was fun to talk to her. The whole trip was overall a nice time. I will not be buying snacks after we go swimming again though.... that was a joke. It's too bad they like swimming so much..... wow, I can't believe I just said that! We just need to take Daddy next time! 8-4-11
