Happy Birthday, Nate!!!

So Monday was Nate's birthday.  He had to work, so that was lame.  But the kids and I went shopping with our last two dollar (figuratively) and walked the aisles of several stores before coming upon THE PERFECT gift.  Brad saw the ribs on this rib grilling rack and just couldn't resist them!  The other kids thought they looked good too and we all agreed that it would be really yummy to have Nate make us all some :).... so we bought it!  Once Nate got off work, we picked him up and drove out to his parents' house for a little post Pioneer Day fun.  Our birthday fun had to wait.
But afterward, we all ran inside so fast! sat Nate down, sang to him, then gave him his gift.  He seemed happy enough :)

Erika got scared by the loud singing.... poor girl....

As you can see, buying it and wrapping it did not rob it of the excitement while being opened!  They were still on pins and needles to see what it was :)  haha!!

Awwww... a Lukey hug!

Then we got out our yummy German Chocolate Cake (Nate's favorite) that we bought.... if only I'd had the time to make one that day!  And of course I forgot to buy candles so Nate had to use our old Elmo one.... kinda lame, but whatever :)  Then we dished up the sherbet and cake, the kids scarfed down the sherbet, and hardly touched their cake!  Apparently it's not anyone else's favorite :)
I think he had a nice day....

Should I give an update on Nate, like I do on the kids on their birthday posts??
Well, Nate is in his last stage of training.... for those of you that have no idea what that means, it means that he is making progress!  He is anticipating 3 very stressful Evals during this month.  He's done so well up to this point that it's hard to believe he would need to worry, but he does.  I'm glad he takes it so seriously, for our sakes, but I hope he can overcome the nervousness.  We're anticipating him getting his new schedule starting in September, with Sunday/Monday off.... that should be interesting.  It's just nice that he is on his R-sides, that we can feel more confident in his training, and that he should be done early next year!!!  That is so fun to say!
He hasn't done a lot of fishing this Summer.... if anyone would like to help remedy that.... I'm sure he wouldn't resist.
His favorite shows are Falling Skies, Next Food Network Star, Chopped, Extreme Chef, Cold Case (he probably only watches this because I like it though), Shark Week! and Without a Trace.... plus all the many others that he would probably watch more of if there were more time :).
Favorite foods:  carrots, peas, apples, peaches, pickles, are you sensing a pattern here.... he's been eating a very strict diet with very little carbohydrates from my point of view.... he does love salmon, anything grilled, and he is very sweet about everything I cook... Tangy Meatballs especially :)
He's recently been doing a lot of working out, during his breaks and in the evenings (while I'm vegging on the couch of course :) ), and has been losing quite a bit of weight!  He's already undergrown his pants that we got him for Father's Day!  Time to get a new belt!  I'm really jealous proud of him, he totally deserves it!  He looks great!
Some of the things he likes to do right now: kickball with the kids, fixing bikes and scooters (well, maybe I shouldn't say "likes"), nap, take care of his flowers that he planted in the front, just caring for the yard all the way around (and he's very good at it!), basketball with the kids, grilling, hanging out with friends, lots of stuff I can't think of right now I'm sure :)

ummmmm......

He's getting anxious for the kids to fill up the jar of marbles so that we can buy a trampoline......

I'm totally kidding... I can't think of anything else :)

I will probably change all of this later.... after Nate reads it and reminds me of all the things I forgot :)

But Happy Birthday to my Sweetheart!!!  I love you, Nate!
