"You are not here to live a mediocre to average life; you are here to live an amazing life, a miraculous life. If it weren't for your challenges, there would be no miracles. Future Memories

- Easter Sunday was an interesting day.  I was happy to have all my kids dressed nicely in new Easter clothes... we haven't been able to do that for a long time, so that was fun (even though some of the boys' didn't really fit them very well.... darn last minute shopping!  well, and the fact that Noah got a bloody nose at church and bled all over his new white shirt :) ).  But I loved doing that part again.  It was so hard to get ready for church that morning, I had to hurry and be ready by 8:00 for the crazy choir practice (who on earth thinks 8:00 on a SUNDAY morning, before 9:00 church, on EASTER SUNDAY is a good time for a choir practice?!!!!  oh well, we needed it I guess) and ended up showing up around 8:40, ditched Nate to finish getting all the kids ready to go.... he's so amazing!  Anyway, that was hectic.  Church was nice though, I taught a lesson on the Book of Mormon and I'm still kicking myself about how rocky it went.  I'm still trying to figure out how to teach and discipline the naughty behavior at the same time and still maintain the Spirit.  It seems like I should be good at this by now.... but I'm not.  I'll learn.  Then after Church went fairly normal.  We watched some home videos and everyone took naps.  Then of course, Nate had to go to work.  That was a bummer.  And then the kids and I headed over to my Mom's for a dinner.  It was nice, but things seem so awkward with my family lately.  Probably me since I feel awkward all the time, but hopefully it's something that will be easily fixed.  I was ornery anyway because I didn't feel well.  I feel like I nearly bleed to death every month.  (I know I"m talking about it AGAIN! But it's a big part of my life right now!  A huge trial!)  I think I was grumpy most of the evening.  So when we got home we got out our little Egg Easter Symbols Story thing that we've tried to do most years.  It was late, and difficult to get everyone to focus on it, but I think the kids learned a little about the Atonement.  I wish I had done better at discussing more of this with them all month, I did so well last year, but this year..... not so much.  We did try to do the Easter Cookies Story thing the night before and while it was nice when we made them and read all the scriptures and such, they didn't work out.  THey were supposed to be "empty" like the tomb, when you open the oven in the morning, but they weren't.  I think I needed to whip the eggs a little longer.  SO better luck with that next year too :)  I am trying not to be too hard on myself about every single holiday, but this is an important one, so I wish I'd done better.  But it's over, and I"m moving on with it.... I'll use this to motivate me next year :).  Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

- For FHE tonight we played Hide and Go Seek (Lukey had wanted to go to the "ball shooting place", but that was out tonight, so he painstakingly thought of a new idea....).  It was SO MUCH FUN!!  I forgot how much fun it can be to play that, since it's been a while since I got involved in it.  The kids are finally able to find good hiding places!  At one point, I was holding Erika, Luke was it, we went and hid in the boys' closet, and when Luke couldn't find anyone (he was seriously looking for like 3 minutes :) ), he decided he needed to go to the bathroom.  And this wasn't a quick trip to the potty, he was in there for like 5 or 6 minutes!  Erika and I stayed in the closet because we didn't want him to see us, and she actually sat there with me for the ENTIRE time!!!  Well, until she heard ALL the kids come running up the stairs after Luke found them all (I think we were in the closet for a total of 10 minutes), Erika finally stood up and just walked out, then brought them all back to the closet a couple of seconds later, totally giving away my position.  It was a lot of fun.  Erika amazed me with her hiding ability, quiet, still, just amazing :) (where is that behavior at church?).  Brad thought of the most creative spot, in the downstairs shower (we never use it, so we forget it's there). And Nate made cookies.  That is a cool thing :).  Good times.  4-27-11

- Brad and I finally went on our date that's been talked about for the last few months.  The school gives out these ridiculous fun coupons to the kids that can be redeemed at various restaurants for "Free Kids Meal"s.  They get them ALL THE TIME!!!  The thing I dislike about these hoakie coupons is that most of them have to be redeemed with a paying adult.  How's that for a deal.  (sarcasm)  So basically they "reward" my kid with something and I have to go to a restaurant (not necessarily one I like) and pay for an adult meal to finally be awarded this "reward".  I know I sounds synical, but seriously.  And yeah, it's true that I can just explain to my kids that that coupon is really a way to get us to go spend money at their restaurant, as I have MANY times, but it continues to be the form of reward for many of the acheivements at school.  So I continue to be annoyed.  We've had a few that didn't require a purchase, but they're few.  So anyway.  A while ago I explained to Brad that we can't use his coupon while everyone else is with us because it's just too expensive, and that his coupon would need ot be redeemed on a date.  He LOVED this idea!!!  Almost more than just getting the free food.  So that was fun.  But it has taken us WAY too long to get out.  Last week I had Brad write it on the calendar for Wednesday the 27th, so he had a whole week to look forward to it, which I think is a crucial element to something like that :).  We went to Sizzler and had a really fun time.  He was funny and joked a lot, and ate A TON!  I don't think I've ever seen that kid put away so much food.  It was a lot of fun.  Everytime I go on a date with my kids I feel like we need to do it more often, and this rang true with this date.  Brad needs more Mommy time :)  So maybe the lame coupons are a good idea afterall..... maybe.

- Friday morning was a bit of a downer.  I always weigh myself at the gym on Fridays and much to my dismay I was back at the weight I started at 5 weeks ago.  I've gone down and up and down and then back up.  Quite the disappointment considering I've changed my eating, sleeping, and exercising habits DRASTICALLY.  After I realized that I decided I need to change things up and go to the aerobics class that was starting right then.  I did and it TOTALLY KICKED MY BUMB!!!! I had a hard time the entire time, made a fool of myself in front of all the in-shape people, and then just about died that afternoon.  Not to mention how sore I was ALLLLLLLL WEEKEND.  It was rough!  I realized I am not pushing myself hard enough and decided I need to change things up.  So even though I had told myself I was not going to do aerobics again on Monday.... I couldn't help myself.  I was drawn to the class.  It was a really fun one on Monday though.  Not AS tough, but still a very good workout.  I've decided that in order to make this new thing last, I need to change what my goal is.  I don't want to change how I am achieving my goal, just change what it is.  Before I was really focused on losing weight.  But then I realized that if I'm getting in shape just to get pregnant again, then losing weight is a silly goal.  I do think that by getting in shape, I should be able to lose weight too, but this last 5 weeks have proven to me that it is not going to happen quickly.  And that if I want to stay motivated and excited about it all, I need to focus on how good I have felt.  I really do feel like a better person.  It's funny what waking up before the crack of dawn can do to me.  I've never done this.  I can't remember a time in my life when I woke up, WILLINGLY, to an alarm clock, without pushing the snooze button, and before I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO wake up.  It's just miraculous.  I'm sure you're getting sick of me talking about it, but it really has been wonderful.  I'm glad that I've been inspired to make the changes, and that the ability to carry out this goal is really there.  It's changed my way of thinking in a lot of areas.  So anyway.  5-2-11
