ROOT CANAL
Not my favorite. Went in for my root canal on the dumb tooth I broke eating the stupid peanut brittle. So that's done. Well, I only have the temporary crown, so I'll have to go back for that eventually, but for now... it's done. So annoying. I was in so much pain today I was completely impatient with my kids. I lost it and freaked out on them. Luke says he's never heard me yell like that before. Bummer. Bums me out because I've been doing so well at not freaking out lately. It's really been a while since I did that. Years really. Self-control me not. So anyway. We decided there needs to be less lying, whining, tantrums, and meanness. Hopefully the thought of being harshly punished will push these guys in the right direction. Feels like it's been a while since we had to punish anyone. Bummer. 12-28-15
FHE
We used our new family home evening assignment holder that Emily gave me for my birthday this week, following a little bit different schedule than we did before, but everyone agreed it's better :). I LOVE having a cute way to keep track of our assignments! I didn't think I'd ever get one with 10 spots without making one myself... which wasn't ever going to happen! Thanks again Emily, if you're reading this :). Kelly gave a nice lesson on hard work and money management and self-reliance. She did great! Bradley's activity was watching the second Star Wars (they're trying to watch them all so that we can go see the new one :) ), and Luke's treat was going to Dairy Queen for blizzards. It was a nice night. 12-28-15
SLEEPOVER
Meg dropped Sierra, Enoch and Jarom off at Nate's work on Tuesday and he brought them home for a big fun sleepover! The boys mostly played wii and tablets, the girls all went to Station Park that first day. We watched some more Star Wars and Minions. Had the Home teachers come in the middle of it, I'm sure that was very exciting for the Taylors :). The next morning we had Enoch Waffles (aka: Big Fluffy Waffles) and sat around in our jammies for a lot of the morning. More wii and then the Maughans invited us to go play at the church! Two hours later it was time to get ready to go to Grandma Hatch's house for the "traditional caroling party". Unfortunately the Meg and Chris met up with us at her house and ended the fun sleepover. It was nice to have them. 12-29-15
NEW YEAR'S EVE
We spent New Year's Eve at the Maughan's house this year! We were so excited that we were going to ring in the New Year with them again. We'd missed the year before for illnesses. But we loaded up our snacks and headed on over. We started at 6:30 (course we were almost a half hour late) pm which felt early, I wasn't sure the kids were going to be able to kill that much time, but some how they managed to!! I was so surprised. They played and played and played! I really have no idea what they were doing most of the time. We talked, ate lots, played Apples to Apples, Suspend, Tenzi, cards; blew up balloons, ran around with light sabers, had a glow stick dance party! (that was a highlight- went on for almost an hour!), and lots of other stuff that I have no idea about. No movies though- amazing! It was a lot of fun. Always is when we're with the Maughans. We had noise makers little confetti bombs, the girls got some pots and pans (who started that tradition anyway ;);)), it was cold night so it didn't last too long. The fireworks went off like crazy as we were packing up and leaving. And the night was over. What a great year 2015 has been! I guess I better get on my wrapping up the year post. Here's to a new one! 2016 here we come!!
