Camping with the Maughans

We had such a good time with our good friends the Maughans this week!  This was probably the most anticipated event of the summer.  For EVERYONE!  It's so cute how much our kids love this camping trip with them each year.  This was our third year (we missed last year) and I must say it gets funner every time.  If funner was a word of course :). 

We were late getting up there, as usual.  This time it was because we took the world's strangest detour.  Thanks to my dumb phone we went about an hour and a half out of the way!  We didn't notice until we were almost "there" that "Smith and Morehouse campground" is nowhere near "Smith and Morehouse Reservoir".  Who knew.  Too bad Nate and I couldn't stop gabbing long enough to notice sooner.  But it all worked out.  

It was of course raining when we got there- to keep things exciting.  It's always quicker to set up camp in the rain!  

I was so glad we had the trailer this year.  Makes it so much easier!  

We ate our taco salad in the dark, in the rain, but nobody even complained.  Well, maybe not nobody, but there was a lot of happy sounds coming out of the older kids- they're just so happy to be with the Maughans.  Fun stuff.  

That first night was great!  We all slept well!

Throughout the next three days we did a lot of sitting around, tie dyed our shirts, played cards, ate snacks, and explored the camp. Jack got to go on a hike with Will and his dad and Kate.  The kids all caught salamanders.  Kelly and Rachel made a cool treasure hunt for the littles.  Erika and Kate knocked over a tree!  We all swam and played in the reservoir at least until the lightning came.  We got to try Banana Boats- super yummy and you can totally pretend like they're healthy!  We taught them about Woofums.  And the boys did a LOT of fishing!  

It was great. 

I felt so bad that we started the tie dying while Luke was out fishing with Nate, but I really thought they'd come back in the middle of it.  He got his own private tie-dying session.  Hopefully he's not mad at me about it still.

Princess Buddy came with us.  He is not a happy camper.

So bizarre.

these two little clones of each other sure look cute together.  They even kind of look alike.  

Luke experimented with centrifugal force :)

Molly loved the squirrels!!  She called them Hampstey :), but she loved following them around and watching them run up and down the tree trunks.  SO cute.
