TESTIMONY
There was a lot of talk on Sunday about Testimony. I was sitting with Kelly's class in Primary and that's what Sharing Time was on and then Sis. McMurray said a lot about her testimony and the Savior before teaching the kids the song "I Stand All Amazed". A lot of the things that were said were really cool and made me feel good. It was a sweet Spirit. Kelly's class was interesting, but learning about the Abrahamic Covenant is always awesome. Then during Sacrament meeting I was feeling really overwhelmed for some reason. Things just felt really heavy and I felt really emotional during the Sacrament. It was okay, but then I started having a pity party for myself. I had a lot of thoughts that followed and I got kind of sad. Luckily I felt the prompting to pray and ask Heavenly Father to help me with my sad thoughts and to be with me and help me to cheer up. It was really awesome because not even 5 minutes later, as Bro. Jacox was bearing his testimony, he mentioned a story he had heard (I think) that morning when he was feeling kind of down about some cute little "It's Great to be Eight" kids who had been asked what will happen when they are baptized. One little girl had said, "It will wash away all my sorrows". How profound is that! Made me smile and then made me tear all up because I realized that was a total answer to my prayer just minutes before. What a blessing. What a blessing it is to know that we have a Heavenly Father who is aware of our needs and is watching over us. He listens. He answers. It's so cool. And the fact that we have a Savior who has been through all that we go through, even those small moments of sorrow can be lifted because of His love and sacrifice. It's incredible. I am so grateful for that knowledge.
Luke got to go up to be announced as the newest member of the ward. So cool :). He looked like such a big kid up there. I am so proud of him and his decision to be baptized. He makes me proud in so many ways. He really is growing up to be such a neat kid. I can't wait to see what he does with his life.
Also- during Testimony meeting, four of my 6 kids who can talk bore their testimonies. Sweet little Noah got up and did it all. by. himself. He said the sweetest things! I loved that he mentioned Joseph Smith translating the Book of Mormon. That was precious. He got a little nervous at the end and hurried to finish, then kind of buried his head in my lap when he sat down, but what a sweetheart! I was so proud of him. Bradley was next and he did a good job too. He's a regular in our ward :). I love that he is so proud of his testimony. Kelly and Charity did theirs too. They all said such sweet things! I loved that Charity said she is happy to go to the temple soon and YW. She really is. I had no idea a little girl could get so excited for that. Kelly said something that really touched me and said that she was happy for Luke to be baptized. That was awesome. She really is an awesome girl. All my kids are! Even the ones who didn't bear their testimonies :). They are after my own kind- we like to bear ours silently :). It was a nice Sunday. 3-2-14
THE HOLY GHOST
Charity did a nice lesson on the Holy Ghost for FHE this week. It was really well planned out and she had us read a few scriptures that she had found on the Holy Ghost. It was a great reminder for Luke and the rest of us. I was really proud of her. Luke chose to go to DQ for the treat- always a treat! Good times. Noah was the scribe and was so thrilled to be, but then I don't know what he did with his paper that he worked so hard on... hopefully we find it and can put it in the book. 3-3-14
HUBBLE 3D
I got to go on a field trip to see the Hubble movie (Again) with Charity this time. That movie is so awesome! I just can't say enough about it when people ask me if I like it. I felt like a dork with the other moms before we left because they were all complaining about how boring it sounded, "a space movie"! Since I'd seen it, I had to stick up for it and tell them how awesome it is. Course when we were watching it I wondered if maybe it's just me that thinks it's cool. And really, it's not just cool, it's like the most spiritual experience ever! To see Heavenly Father's creations (I assume they are OUR Heavenly Father's creations and not those of another God's), but to see clear out into the outer reaches of space, "infant solar systems", dead stars, things that happened billions of years ago but we're just now seeing them. SO COOL!!! Yeah, I don't really know what I'm talking about- just regurgitating information that Leo fed me, but seriously- awesome! Charity seemed to like it too. I love being with her- we're like a couple of buddies. I like that. She was really sweet about a girl in her class, who happened to sit next to me on the end of the row (poor little girl) with no friends. She's been friends with Charity most of the year, course she's also done a lot of stuff to get Charity in trouble or well, basically, she's been ungrateful for Charity's friendship. Which stinks, but Charity is a good girl, I'm so glad she sees that there is a need and fills it unselfishly. We went down to Bountiful after the movie and got Nate a Keva Juice- he was at the court house for Don's trial- another LOOOOOONG story filled with NOTHING! but that's beside the point- then we went and got a drink for Don's daughter, then back up to the courthouse and then up to the Pediatrician's office to get Charity's immunization record for her orientation that night. It was a quick errand run, but we made it back to the school in time for lunch and she didn't even miss the D.A.R.E. class :). Lots of fun. I love my Cherry. Thanks to my mom for tending... and last minute too- I had not put the date for this one in my phone so found out about it the day before... love that :) 3-4-14
7TH GRADE ORIENTATION
So we did it! We went to our first 7th grade orientation. First for all of us- Nate, Charity and I. It was a big deal for me, mentally of course, I tried to down play it so as not to look like a crazy person. I have been feeling somewhat overwhelmed lately with all that we are doing. I think I'll make a different rambly post about that later- this is about Charity's orientation. Anyway- we were surprised to find out, when we walked through the front doors, that she actually did still need a shot! I couldn't believe it. I still don't believe it, I think that the lady read the form wrong, because it clearly said you can either have 5 of the one or 1 of the other. She had the 5 of the one (notice I don't even know what they're called- clearly an expert!), so that should have been enough. And if you know Charity you know what it meant to tell her she didn't have to have any and then the shock that she did! I was in big trouble. She started panicking immediately. She does not do well with even the thought of a shot. It's sad. We all did our best to comfort her and convince her and persuade her that this was going to be okay (Nate and I and the two nurses). She was already crying before she sat down and completely tensed up. She braved it out though!! I was so proud of her!! She found out how not deathly painful it is- that it's actually reasonable. So that was nice. Unfortunately, I agreed to the other two that are now available for her age, the Guardasil and another one- can't remember the name. I hesitate to do those, but at the same time- I feel like it's the right thing to do. So she actually had THREE shots!! Crazy right. Her arm still hurts days later. It's been really sad. SO once that was over, we headed up to the gym and watched the orientation. I was so impressed with how entertaining it was! I don't know if I went to an orientation for 7th grade or not, but not one like that! They had the choir sing, cheerleaders then a power point of PTSA activities- she jumped all over that! Then the orchestra and band and dance classes performed. Just lots of pepping her up for all the fun stuff. The drama skit was lame, but she loves drama, so I don't think it mattered :) she'll still end up wanting to do that. I loved hearing her lean over to me, "I definitely want to do that! .... Can I sign up for THAT? .... THAT looks fun!" She's going to love Junior High. (well as much as one can) She did sign up for PTSA, she's looking forward to her registration meeting in a couple weeks so she can choose her classes. She wants to take Choir, Dance 1, and Explorations of literature along with all of the honors classes possible. I'm really proud of her. She is a hard worker and is anxious to do a good job in school so that she can go to a good college (specifically BYU right now- we'll see :) ). Makes me proud! She stopped off at the orchestra room for some pizza from Mr. Kemp her orchestra teacher. Good thing he didn't ask her if she is going to keep playing the cello- she's decided she won't have time for that. I think she's probably right with everything else she is putting on her plate... but if she changes her mind before then... whatever :). I'm just really excited about all the new things coming up for her. She's growing up! Thanks to Kelly for babysitting- everything was still standing and in good condition when we got home- success! 3-4-13
YOUNG WOMEN'S
Charity went to her first YW activity tonight even though she's not quite 12 yet. They are starting some Family History stuff, and wanted her to be there when they opened up accounts. She was weirded out that they would let her go already, but didn't complain :). She had a good time and said that all the girls were so nice to her! PHEW!! I love to hear that.
They changed Activity Days to Wednesday night now, so Kelly and Charity are still going at the same time- which is nice for me- only one thing to remember really- wish they could add scouts to the mix :). Jk. Kelly is not loving Activity days lately. I wish I could fix it for her.

LITERACY NIGHT
Well, Literacy came and went and I think that it lived up to all the hype that the kids had been giving it. They were SO excited for this! I was surprised, but excited too :). They had been working on art projects and reading things all week. We had been meaning to donate our used books for the Women's Shelter earlier in the week, but of course we proCHRISTA-NATE-d, (isn't that cute :) ) and didn't have them ready to go until the minute before it was time to go. But we had a lot of books! Four whole boxes! Fortunately we had procrastinated taking two of the boxes to the DI back when we moved (yes, they had been sitting in Nate's trunk that whole time!), so we were able to donate those as well. I knew that the kids were going to get to put an entry in the big drawing for every book they donated, but I really didn't think they'd actually count out all the books and actually do it! I felt bad knowing that our kids would have at least 60 entries each in the drawings. Then I reassured myself with, "They won't let them win more than once, so this will just kind of guarantee a win." Well I was wrong about that too! The drawing at the end of the night was a BIG hit with our kids. They called out Charity's name once and she won a book- and she picked Diary of a Wimpy Kid- my favorite :) she thinks they're funny. Kelly's name was pulled out twice, so she won a stuffed monkey and a Barnes and Noble gift card, and then a book the second time. Bradley was our big winner- he was called out THREE times! He won two books (one that he shared with Luke because for some reason Luke's name did not get called out) and the big prize at the end, THREE Grizzlies Hockey tickets! That was exciting! Then Noah also got called up and one a book. A cute dinosaur book that took him two days to read, but he read the WHOLE THING! I felt bad when Erika turned around to me all excited and said, "Mom, I think they're gonna call my name next!" with her giddy school girl voice. I had to tell her that only the school kids' names were in the drawing. She handled it well though and just got excited for someone else. The night was a lot of fun. I didn't even mention that we got to walk around the school looking at all our kids' artwork. They have done such a great job! I especially loved Stacey's mural that the kids all participated in- I wish I'd gotten a picture. It was really hard for me to not think about the lame Great Artist Program with a bad taste in my mouth. I can't believe the PTA would waste so much money on something like that when we already have an art program. Really it grosses me out and makes me not want to donate money to the PTA. Kinda like when my kids spend all their hard earned money on dumb stuff! Makes me not want to pay them anymore. But anyway- I tried to turn that off. Our kids are so talented in different ways, it's always interesting to me to see what kinds of projects they do and how well. They are all so different. We went around to their individual classrooms and saw more artwork, that was fun. They did have some games and stuff, the kids loved that, but I was busy looking for lost children during that part- not sure what was going on with my kids but they kept disappearing. Kind of annoying. But I got to talk with Mrs. Piper a little too- love that woman. She is so awesome. I hope the rest of my kids can have her for Kindergarten. She's amazing. So anyway- that was Literacy Night. You'd think it had been Christmas at our house :). 3-6-14
MATURATION
Got to go to the Maturation Program with Kelly. It went well! We had a nice time together and as always, loved the movie. (and that was sarcastic. They really need to come up with a new scenario besides girls starting at a sleepover.... I mean REALLY!! How often does that really happen?? Especially now that most parents are anti-sleepover. Plus who is this mom that is not calling the little girl's mom to let her know what happened! sheesh. ANyway). We had to go out for frozen yogurt afterwards to make the whole day worth it :). Kelly talked me into taking her back to school even though there were almost no kids left afterwards! Funny girl. Nate tended since he had to take most of the day off for court for Don. 3-7-14
PARTY
Charity had a million little girls over on Friday night. Not sure how this happens every weekend, but I decided we're taking next weekend off. We drove them around to get their beloved Chicken Nuggets and Oreos (the two NON-foods- I hope the parents don't hate me for enabling their children). They partied pretty hard all evening- kinda nuts. But I did get to spend some nice quality one on one time with cute little Will Maughan. He is adorable. It was a nice evening. Glad Charity and Kelly had a good time :). 3-7-14
JEN RED
During Charity's birthday party Nate's Dad received a phone call and then we found Nate's mom just sobbing. Then they quickly said their good-byes and were gone. It happened so quickly and they hadn't said much to me that I started to wonder if someone had said something to offend them. I was worried. Unfortunately it was worse. Dan had been the one on the phone and he'd given his Dad the news that his wife Jen had passed away. It seemed so unreal when Nate told me. I just couldn't even believe it. It was so unexpected. All I could think about was Dan and his kids. Still just breaks my heart. Nate and I were left in kind of a funk for the rest of the day. It's so hard to lose a loved one and even harder to watch a loved one lose their best friend. 3-8-14
