COME, JOIN US
I taught my RS lesson this Sunday. On President Uchtdorf's talk. It was a long 2 months of preparation for that lesson and so I was happy to finally get the thoughts and preparation out there. I really loved that talk. It was a nice one to teach about. I felt like the lesson went fine. I have my worries about things that I said, but I'm not perfect. If someone wants to be offended by something I said, they probably would have been offended by something else eventually anyway. I can't let that worry me anymore. I'm doing my best and hopefully teaching with the Spirit. That is my goal. So anyway. I feel like I'm still pretty nervous, but I'm learning how to handle it :). 2-23-14
BOOT CAMP KICK OFF
Charity and I attended her first Camp Kick-off! I cannot believe we're already to this stage!! Time flies. I am SO excited for her to go to Girl's Camp though, she is going to love it!! They actually have a really exciting camp planned. Ropes Course, Canoeing, a cool Humanitarian Service Project... it's going to be awesome! I keep trying to talk Liesl (she's the Ward Camp Director) into letting me stow away with the food or something- probably won't happen. Anyway- Charity seems nervous, but excited at the same time... I remember that feeling :). She's going to have a blast, I just know it :). I'm excited.
AUSTIN'S COURT OF HONOR
Nate took everyone else (Charity and I had the Camp meeting) to Austin's Eagle Scout Court of Honor. Luke and Bradley proudly wore their little scout shirts and went and I think they all enjoyed it. I love that they were able to be there and witness that, maybe start to get excited for that and make it a goal for themselves. I hope Austin felt our love. 2-23-14
G&B CONSEQUENCE OBSTACLE COURSE
Kelly made the most amazing FHE! She put so much work into it, typing up mystery clues and putting up arrows all over for us to follow. We each had to carry a ball with a spoon of some kind through the whole thing. There was running around the street, singing Praise to the Man, hoping up the stairs, emptying the dishwasher, sitting on the couch, etc, all while holding the ball and keeping it from falling. She did a great job! We all learned about how everything has a consequence. It was so neat. She did a great job! I need to post the picture Erika drew as the scribe... 2-24-14
TALKING
As I was getting dinner ready tonight Luke was in the Kitchen with me, just spouting off things about his day and about his life. It was so cute! I LOVE having those simple little conversations with my kids. And while it happens pretty often, sometimes they just stand out as special little moments that I need to make sure I record. I loved it. He was such a sweetheart, opening our new toaster and getting it all set up and ready to be used. Then asking me what kind I like better and talking about his likes and dislikes... just real sweet. I loved it. 2-25-14
BLOGGER
My blog knowledge is finally being put to good use!! HURRAY!! I've been helping the RS Presidency and VT sups make a blog for Visiting Teaching Reports. It's so awesome to be an asset finally :). I love helping, and I love that it's blog stuff because otherwise, all the stuff I've learned is good for one thing only. Cool stuff. 2-27-14
SICK
Poor Lukey was sick most of the week leading up to his baptism. It was really sad to watch him mope around the house. That's totally unlike Luke. He missed a couple days of school even. We were all worried that he wasn't going to feel good on his baptism day. Luckily he got better. Most of us have had a little of something this past month (this is the month- every year- hate it). Nothing too huge, but it's going through all of us. Sore throat, body aches... no fevers, but man it's crappy. 2-27-14
SOUND OF MUSIC
My friend Emily invited us to the dress rehearsal of Sound of Music at Center Pointe Theater. Bradley's teacher played the part of "Elsa" so he wanted to come and Kelly of course couldn't pass it up. She couldn't help but critique and comment on pretty much every scene (possibly every line :) ). It was a lot of fun to see. Made me miss watching the girls' plays at Holbrook. That is probably the saddest thing about leaving Holbrook. I keep telling the girls only a couple years til you can do the JH plays!! The play was great!! Ms. Wood did awesome. I really loved Maria and the Mother Abbess. They all did such a good job though. I only wish they'd done the right dance to the "So Long, Farewell" song. Kinda bummed me out. It's nice to have a friend to go do things with again! Feels like it's been a while. I think I'm socially retarded still, but whatever. Charity was more interested in working on her castle assignment, so she was able to tend when Nate had to leave to go work the mid shift! 2-28-14
BUBBLES
I don't know if you guys know this, but bubbles are the coolest thing on the planet. And I'm not talking about the little bottles you get at the dollar store, I'm talking about the ones that float up out of the dish soap bottle when you accidentally (or after a few times, intentionally) squeeze bubbles out of it. I had Jack sitting on the counter, next to me while I was washing dishes. I have to hand wash the big stuff because if I didn't we would never have clean dishes :). So he was watching and one of those little bubbles popped up and floated up past him and he just stared at it, and was in complete awe the entire time it floated upward! I couldn't believe how excited he was about it! Made me smile. I love those moments when I realize my cute little baby is experiencing something for the first time and I get to witness the amazement. I was in awe. He smiled and pointed and "Ma-ma"-ed. I LOVED it!! I don't know what life would be like without these little angels to help me enjoy the little things. Now I can't wash the dishes without smiling about the bubbles. What a blessing. 2-28-14
