CALEB'S FAREWELL
Caleb did an amazing job on his talk. It's so crazy to look at him as a completely capable very soon to be missionary and yet have complete recollection of him as a little 3 year old boy! Thinking about all the funny words he made up when he was little- "recatize"= when you are mad at someone because they are mad at you. And "amn't"= contraction for am not :). And I can totally picture him singing "You give love a bad name!" He's really just grown up way too fast. But I'm so happy for him and that he's decided to go on a mission. What a big decision! What a sacrifice. It's really going to be fun to hear from him, hopefully we get to read his letters and stuff. Anyway- so happy for Caleb. He is going to be such a blessing to the people of Pnom Pehn Cambodia. 12-13-15
GRANDPA'S
We stopped at my dad's on Sunday to pick up something I am stealing from him and ended up staying for an hour or so. The kids helped Dawn decorate the tree and then they and my Dad tormented her by pretending like they were going to look at their presents :). It is always fun to see my Dad. They raided his egg nog stash too. Good times. 12-13-15
FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON!!!
We got totally dumped on!!! It snowed for pretty much 24 hours straight! It looks so beautiful!! And as I was driving kids around to school and such that morning, I realized something weird- I actually like driving in the snow :). Not on the freeway of course, but I love being able to get around on the neighborhood roads and helping people get unstuck- that's my favorite- and being able to maneuver through it all myself. Thanks to my awesome four wheel drive :). And let's not fail to mention the YEARS of practice while living at the top of 400 North in Bountiful. LOTS of snow driving experience there especially at 6am going to early morning seminary :). One of my few talents, I'm okay bragging about it I guess :). 12-14-15
LATE START!!
Because of the snow the district decided to start school two hours late today! I have been in heaven all morning with the extra time!! It's seriously been amazing. If only we could have late start everyday! Bradley, Luke and Noah all played out in the snow. Kelly made our cute poster of things we want to do during Christmastime :). I gave Molly a bath, made breakfast, lunches, did a load of laundry, a load of dishes, produce!!!!, and talked and cuddled with Charity and Molly and Jack, and all before school!!! It was awesome. 12-15-15
HOT CHOCOLATE
For mutual this week we made baskets of bread, jam and fruit for some of the people in the ward and delivered them. I don't know how the other groups did, but our Beehive/Deacon group only had one family that was home. The other three we stood on their doorstep and sang to nobody. Kind of a bummer, but anyway. After the activity Charity was begging me to let everyone in our group come over for hot chocolate and I just couldn't imagine that many kids in our messy house so I offered to take them to McD's. I thought three minutes there, three minutes back, and we're done, but of course we ended up sitting in the drive thru for almost a half hour! With all the craziness! I am not sure it was such a great idea, but we all survived, so whatever. I did have one fun moment when I reached out the window, grabbed some snow off of a bush we were sitting next to, rolled down Kelly's window, and threw it at her :). I know- horrible mom- but it was AWESOME!!! Even Kelly laughed :). Good times. 12-16-15
FIXED
Thursday had it's crazy moments! We FINALLY got Misty and Cali spayed!! YAY!!!!!! THis is definitely document worthy trust me :). No more kittens for us. Nate took them to the clinic and they came back infertile. Kind of a nice relief.
KJH TALENT SHOW
Charity and Kelly went to all the trouble to try out for the school talent show and of course MADE IT!!! SO we got to go watch them perform. It is so nerve-racking to watch your kids perform, but SO rewarding!! I am SO proud of my girls! and it's like the mom out in the hall said to me, we are SO LUCKY (I'm going to go with BLESSED!) to have have these two girls so close in age that they are able to perform together and do these things together. It really makes my heart smile that's for sure. THey did FANTASTIC for both performances and didn't even break a sweat. We went to Dylan's afterwards to celebrate (and skip some school- who doesn't love that?). 12-17-15
BABES IN TOYLAND
Emily offered up her parents' tickets to Centerpointe Theater for Babes in Toyland and we had to go for it! I LOVE plays! And so do our kids. At first I thought it was going to be a date night and then Emily threw in 4 more tickets! So after Charity so GENEROUSLY offering to watch Molly (no babies allowed), we were able to take Kelly, Bradley, and Erika to see the play with us. I've never left a 3 1/2 month old with anyone but Nate or my Mom, so I was nervous, but Charity did so well!! Molly was asleep when we left and woke up 5 minutes after we left, so she really earned her money that night! The play was awesome! I just love plays. I had never seen Babes in Toyland. But I remembered the little purple rocking horse with the doll on it, toy that my Grandma gave me when I got baptized played music from that show. It was so fun to hear Toyland when it started. I LOVED that toy. I can't believe I ever got rid of it. Good memory anchor. Anyway. It was really cute. The girls loved it. Bradley and Nate even enjoyed it too. Thanks Emily! 12-17-15
BREAKFAST FOR BRADLEY'S CLASS
I signed up to help with Bradley's and Erika's class parties, thinking they would be at different times of the day (since the class parties are ALWAYS at the end of the day and Erika is in morning kindergarten), but alas, I was wrong. Bradley's class party ended up being a fun breakfast. So we were double booked. Thankfully Nate was more than willing to help out with Erika's so I was the one that got to go to Bradley's class. It was very exciting, I pretty much just made pancakes, in the dark :). But what a fun activity, to eat pancakes in the dark while watching Muppets Christmas Carol. I loved being in Bradley's classroom and being able to do that for him. 12-18-15
POLAR EXPRESS PARTY
Erika's class party was a Polar Express Party. I came in after an hour of pancakes and got to watch a lot of fun. Story time with cookies, making elf hats, the packing Santa's bag game, and my favorite the snow ball fight! They got to watch the last few minutes of the movie and the teachers gave them their little bells. It was a lot of fun. Molly did really great sleeping for the first hour and a half, and then just needing to be held the last part of it. It was so much fun! I love watching Erika in her element. She's adorable. 12-18-15
TEACHER TREATS
We were on the ball this year and got our Primary/Sunday School teacher treats out the Saturday before Christmas, just as tradition says. Everyone helped, it went so smoothly and so well. The only thing that could have made it better is if more of the teachers had been home :). Oh well. I was proud of everyone for working so hard. 12-19-15
