CHRISTMAS LESSON
We had a really great Christmas Devotional type lesson on Sunday, combined Young Women. I really enjoyed it for the most part. We had several musical numbers and then a couple of the girls, including Kelly and Charity read different Christmas stories. I think Charity and Kelly wished they'd been asked to perform a musical number, but we talked about how everyone needs those kinds of opportunities and that we get a lot of them. Overall, it was a very spiritual, peaceful meeting. 12-20-15
FHE
For Family Night, Bradley taught a mini lesson on faith and then we all worked together to make the treats for the neighbors! It was so much fun. I loved that everyone was helping and getting along. We got major bonus points that evening on our Dare Chart. Have I mentioned the Not Bummer Winter Break chart Kelly made for us? It's been a lot of fun to rate each activity and have a way to keep track of what we want to do and what we've done. Kelly's so good at helping us have fun. We had hot cocoa for the treat after caroling and passing out the treats. The only thing that could have made that evening better would have been if more people had been home. 12-21-15
WELL CHILD
I don't know what possessed me to do this, but I scheduled Jack's three year well child visit on Wednesday, the 23rd of December! Christmas Adam of all days! Not sure what I was thinking. But we went! Things went well. Poor little Jack Jack had to get a shot, that was a bummer. But he's growing and looks good. I was relieved. Now to worry about Molly's cough that I don't doubt she got from the doctor's office. Ugh. 12-23-15
SUBURBAN EXPRESS
Kelly planned a really fun activity for everyone, The Suburban Express (a play on Polar Express of course). We pretended like it was bedtime and read scriptures said prayer, sent everyone off to bed, and then a few minutes later, I went around with the flashlight and the Golden tickets Kelly had made and got everyone out of bed and took them down to the car. The look on Erika and Noah's faces was priceless. I wish Kelly had been able to see that part. She was waiting by the car to punch holes in their tickets- so cute. We stopped and got hot chocolate to eat on our way to see the lights in Layton. I was pleasantly surprised to see that we could just drive through a fun little light display. I will admit the lights were very strange, weird animals that had nothing to do with Christmas, but the kids LOVED it! I loved hearing them getting along and having fun together. We got major bonus points on this activity. Unfortunately, Molly was extremely unhappy the ENTIRE trip. We tried everything to get her to stop crying! It was SO SAD! I know Kelly was slightly disappointed and I don't blame her. Charity also had a little hang up, she had to go to the bathroom so bad she was crying. So, not so bonus-y there. Possibly loser points for Molly. She really was a grump. But it was so much fun. I liked hearing about everyone's favorite Christmases and how they loved the gifts they got last year in our family gift exchange the most. I love our homemade tradition- it's been so fun both years. 12-23-15
STOCKINGS!
I finished them!! Not a moment too soon either! 3:00 in the morning! Luke can finally relax :). I can't wait to show them off. I feel kind of bad about discontinuing the old ones. They are very special and I did work very hard on them, but it was killing me to think of Molly's not matching. So I set out to make some new ones. I wasn't exactly sure if I could finish them this year. I didn't want them to be a burden on anyone and I didn't want them taking me away from doing fun things with the kids since I know that they were mostly for me. But I did it! I finished them! In time for Christmas Eve. I am hoping to write up a little explanation about some of the symbols on each of their stockings and try to give them a little special meaning... maybe that will help with the transition :). I don't know. I'm the weirdo that cares I guess :). 12-24-15
THE DAY AFTER
We spent so much time sitting around on Christmas we decided to get out on Saturday. Even if it was just for a few minutes. We had to return Luke's rollerblades and pick up a SIM card for Charity's new phone. And since we were in the area, we decided to go on over to Layton Hills Mall and redeem our Pretzeltime gift card from Heidi and John "in record time"! :). It really was burning a hole in my pocket. Good news is, there's still enough left on the card to go back :). Love that place. WE came home nad spent most of the evening bumming around. It was great! The kids and I played a few games and tried to clean the house up a little. Good times. 12-26-15
