I got to go on my first Field Trip with Kelly this last week. They had so many parents there that it was almost like a little date with just me and Kelly. Her friend Sophia didn't have a parent with her, so she chose to come along with her best friend Kelly and I. We were in a small group with 2 other friends and their parents. It was really a LOT of fun!! It's been so long since I had been to the Hogle Zoo too, it was almost like a different zoo for me. Very fun! Kelly enjoyed my undivided attention as well :) She is a sucker for my attention :) Ya gotta love that.
In order to justify a trip to the zoo, the kids had to fill out this little worksheet where they drew different kinds of feet that they saw and then tally-marked them for how many of each one that they saw. Kelly had actually been talking about this worksheet as much as the fieldtrip for the whole week before. Just planning to bring paper and pen so she could tally-mark..... it was funny. Well, she sure was on top of it while we were there. At first nobody seemed to care that she had kind of taken over, and done most of it, but later on the other girls wanted turns and were fighting over it with each other. Kelly didn't seem to mind who had it as long as they were accurate in their recording. She was the first one to say, "Did you do the tally-mark?!" She's all business this girl! It was a funny side of her I didn't think came out in front of other people :) She loves to be in charge and loves to follow rules.
Her teacher has a tradition of taking a picture of each child in this turtle shell. She just parks herself there in front of the turtle for the day and takes pictures. Cute idea.
Kelly got really camera happy....she kept posing for pictures the whole time. It was cute. Watching her scout out new photo ops.
I just love her cute little figure :) She still looks like a baby to me sometimes.
You probably can't see her name tag, so I will just tell you.... Kelly comes over to me after the kids were all handed their name tags, and says, "Look Mom!" I glanced at it, and said, "yeah, fun!" (assuming it had her name on it.... crazy me)
So a little later into the field trip I looked down at her name tag and noticed that it said, "Karson V" on it. This was the conversation that followed:
Me: Kelly, why does your name tag say "Karson V" on it?
Kelly: Because Karson moved.
Me: But why doesn't it say "Kelly M" on it?
Kelly: Because Mrs. Holbrook didn't make one that said Kelly.
Me: ???????
Why Mrs. Holbrook made a name tag for the person that moved 5 months ago, and not one for the kid that has been here 4 months is really just a mystery to me :) Why not hand write one?? And what is the point of putting on a name tag that has the wrong name. Strange. But Kelly was completely satisfied with Mrs. Holbrook's excuse. Didn't really even phase her. I think it did annoy her that I called her Karson the rest of the day, but anyway....

I was remembering how much my kids used to hate this elephant. They wouldn't go within like 5 feet of the thing because of the noise and the startling spray. Funny. Kelly was fine with it this time :)
Kelly was really anxious to see the penguins and I think it was because she knows they're my favorite. She's a sweet little friend to get so excited about it with me :) She likes them too, but I am pretty sure it was mostly for me :)

And I dont' know why I cared so much, but it really freaked me out that this sloth could just climb right up over our heads in the stinky reptile building. Does that not seem strange to anyone else?
Kelly was petting the cat that she's sitting on lol.
This was my attempt to get a picture of just Kelly and I, but Sophia wanted in on it too :)
The final attempt on the bus :) I had such a good time. Very memorable.
