"You are not here to live a mediocre to average life; you are here to live an amazing life, a miraculous life. If it weren't for your challenges, there would be no miracles. You must do that which seems impossible, for it is only in the impossible that miracles are had." - author unknown, but very respected

Future Memories

- Yesterday 10-7-10, Nate was removing bandaids from his shoulder and the kids were all watching and asked what happened.  He told them he "got a shot at work" and then proceeded to show them how little blood there was on the bandaids and they were all fascinated and got all into it for a few minutes there.  Well about 10 minutes went by and Kelly and I were in the kitchen she was watching me make Brad's cake and she asked, "Mom, can I ask you a question?" very seriously.  "Sure!" I said back.  Then she asked me the cutest question ever :) (well, maybe for the week, these guys ask some pretty cute questions), she said, "How did Dad get shot?"  Isn't that funny!  I thought it was adorable that she went on believing that without freaking out at the time the topic was being disucssed!!  Or that she would think her Daddy was tough enough to just handle a shot with a small bandaid and a quick little mention of it.  What a cute girl.

- The boys have been liking one of our Barbie Princess movies, Princess and the Pauper.  It's the movie that we had in the car for a long time that ALL of the kids watched over and over everytime we drove to and from Eagle Mountain.  They hadn't watched it for a LONG time, but the boys got it out the other day and now it's a regular again.  I said nothing about it, but Nate saw them put it on today and said, "That's a girl show!!!"  And when I repeated that to them later on when they put it on, Luke says to me, "I know.  We like it though."  With VERY little thought.  Makes me laugh :)  It is a cute show and it has a girl named Erika, so I like hearing it :)

- Friday and Saturday (10-8-10) Nate and I cleaned out and organized the storage closet and our new "homework room" as the kids so affectionately call it.  It's been a long time since we went through some of those boxes and were able to get rid of 2 carfulls (sounds disgusting I know) of CRAP! to the D.I. (it was useful crap) and the dump (a lot of it was REEEEEEALLLLLY old food storage.... we're talkin' dated in 1989!!!  That has been sitting in there FOREVER!!)  Feels good to relieve ourselves of that baggage!!  We're all set to move now :) just need a place to move to.  I wish I'd taken before and after pictures because they really do look AMAZING!!!

- For the last week or so, Charity and I have been exchanging emails back and forth.  I have really started to LOVE this form of communication between the two of us.  I think it's something we both look forward to now.  She's getting so mature and so aware of so many things around her.  It's fun to see the world through my kids' eyes and experience it all again for the first time.

- I've been struggling a lot lately with being patient about how long it is taking to get into a house.  I'm the most impatient person there is.  It's been so difficult to weigh things out and realize that I really do have what I need, I have what's most important and I love all 7 of them.  I get so frustrated with things so easily and have such a hard time not letting these feelings come out all over the place.  I keep trying to keep it contained and just let it go, but it's been difficult.... to say the least.  I wish it was easier.  I decided that to make it easier I am going to have to strengthen my relationship with my Heavenly Father and make myself more in tune to his Spirit so that I can survive the next..... however long it is till we get into a house.  One of the things I've enjoyed doing is re-watching the conference talks.  I have always liked reading them once the November Ensign comes out, but this time I felt the need to actually WATCH them and not wait until November to do it.  It's been a huge thing for me!  It's funny how much ya miss with 6 little ones around that you can get when they're in bed, or off playing.  I've been taking lots of notes and feeling really rejuvenated from it all.  This morning has been a tough one and I thought if I got some feelings down and went over the one that really had an impact on me last night I might be able to dig myself out of this hole I feel I've fallen into.  The talk that hit me the most last night was the talk by Bishop Richard C. Edgley from the Saturday afternoon session.  He talked a lot about choosing Faith.  These are some of the points I wrote down:
1.  Faith is not a free gift given without desire, thought or effort.
2. Choose Faith over doubt, choose faith over fear, choose faith over the unknown and the unseen, choose faith over pessimism.  (this part seemed really useful to me since I have been known to choose pessimism a LOT lately.  I guess the tricky part is figuring out what "choosing faith" LOOKS like or ACTS like.)
3. Faith is a choice and must be sought after and developed.  (I feel like there are a lot of negative attitudes about the Gospel around me lately.  I feel like Satan is trying to pull me down and make me give up on it so this was helpful.  Faith doesn't just happen to you.  You don't just happen upon a testimony or strong feelings about the Gospel, you have to seek after them and develop them.  It is a CHOICE to believe.)
4. We are responsible for our own faith.
5. We are responsible for our lack of faith.  (again, this helped me out a lot)
6.  Faith brings us to a perfect knowledge.  (so THAT'S how you get it!)
7. By moving forward into the unknown, armed only with hope and desire, we show evidence of our devotion to the Lord.  (I LOVED this line.  I love being armed with HOPE and DESIRE and I needed a reminder of that.  I also love learning ways to show Heavenly Father that I am on His side and want to do His will and that I am "devoted to Him".  Reminds me of my kids how they will quietly point out or hint that they have done something without being asked and how well they did it.  They want me to know that they made a good choice so that they can be sure to be on my good side and be rewarded when the time comes.)
8. We receive not a witness until after the trial of our faith. (yeah.  I've known this forever but it was some priceless advice at the moment)

I really do need to be more faithful.  I really do need to show that I am willing to accept His will.  If there were not other factors that get in my way I'm sure I would be the happiest person alive because I really am so blessed, but somehow Satan weasles his way into my thoughts.  I'm grateful we are given Prophets and Apostles to share His words with us and to bring this light into my life.  I have needed it now more than ever before.  So anyway.  I do feel better now :)  Feels good to think about good things.
