Luke's 8th Birthday and Party

Luke was pretty excited to turn 8!  I think everyone was :).  I stayed up late to make his sign and get things ready for his big day.

Usually the kids have to wait until Dad gets home to open their presents, but since Luke's birthday was on Nate's day off, we let him open some in the morning before school!  He was thrilled.  And so were the kids that spent their hard earned money on gifts from their brother.

I know I've been obsessing over these lately, but I took all the hug pictures and someday I am going to make a collage of all them :).

After he left for school, we started on the cake- Jack helped lick the beater :)

I was still pretty heavily medicated that day, from my Appendectomy, but I couldn't NOT make his cake!!  We had been planning his baseball cake for days!  I will admit there were a lot of flaws that I normally wouldn't have let go, but since I was getting sleepy, I fudged them over :).  Either way, I liked how the cake turned out.  Especially the bat, that was my favorite part.  And my other favorite part was seeing Luke's face when he saw it :).  Satisfaction.

We had his family party that night.  We had a really good turn out, lots of family to support Lukey.  He loved the gifts, he got lots, and everyone had a good time.

This is when he opened his Wii points from Grandpa... I just love his face :)

And even better, his cute face when he opened his new scriptures!  This is exciting, means we're getting even closer to his baptism!!

Near the end of the party he came over and said, "Mom, take a picture of me with my points!" :) Very happy with his gift.  Makes me laugh.

I just love birthdays.  I hope they never end!

That is such a cool cake! Ian is a huge baseball fan and I know someday I'll have to be making a baseball cake for him!
