We went to the State Fair for FHE. Tradition won out :). Nobody entered drawings this year, we just went because we always go :). Kinda made me happy that some of the kids were too attached to it to not go. I like the idea of keeping these kinds of traditions alive. Things we can do when the kids grow up and have their own families. I imagine a few of them still going with us every year :). We went to the fine arts building first then creative arts. Molly got to ride the pony while the big kids waited in line for the fishing pond. She loved it! I loved it :). I think Kelly even loved it. She's the one that went and got the money from Nate for her to ride :). Then everyone under 11 could catch a fish. Poor Molly didn't have the patience to wait for the guy to catch one for her and say it was hers, so we left. Everyone else caught some pretty big ones though! Erika got blood all over herself. It was fun to have run into the Clemenses right then and spend that time with them. We walked through all the livestock animal buildings. Then ended up at the Helping Hands Farm. This is a highlight. I love that we'll pay the price to get into the State Fair just to participate in this free activity where they all get a small package of cereal or an apple. Funny kids. They do love this and really- I love it too! It is so fun for me to reminisce about each of the kids when they were little and experiencing that for the first time. I love how they all try to make it special for the little ones. A little over stimulation for Molly of course. Then we headed over to the ice cream tent. I should mention that everything we did was suddenly really busy as we were leaving or after we started. We were trend-setters for the evening. The all-you-can-eat ice cream was a big hit as usual. This time the tent was PACKED with people though!! We usually get there at the very end and they force feed us fat boys and creamies. This time we actually got to have some of the ice cream. I took a bite of Kelly's pumpkin cheesecake. It was pretty yummy. I need me some pumpkin bread now I think. It was a lot of fun to see the kids get into the dancing contests and the creamie eating contest. Even Kelly did that one! Good times. Molly had been potty training all day and hadn't had a single accident, so I was nervous the whole time we were there and catered to her every peeing whim. She would say she needed to go- I would race her off to a potty- she would say, "ack-shee, I not need pee" so we would go back to where everyone was. This happened a LOT of times. Lost track. But one of the times, she did actually pee in the toilet! A big toilet, so that was exciting. She was so proud of herself. After the ice cream we slowly made our way to the exit. Nate wanted to go check out a few cars he had found online. The funny thing at the car dealership was when I was walking Molly into the place to go potty and because of all her false alarms earlier in the evening, she calls out to Nate and Luke who were sitting at a table waiting for a dealer, "I going do it this time!" All encouraging-like. It was hilarious! Unfortunately, she didn't actually go. But the cool thing was that she actually held it til we got pizza and came home. So about an hour and a half since the last "I need to pee"! Pretty remarkable. The fair was great! Such a fun tradition. 9-10-18
