So for the past two weeks Nate has been mentally preparing himself and running and over-running the numbers for this Sam's Club job that Malisa got him. It's been pretty exciting to think about at times and also a little disappointing. Mainly when he got the call that they were moving the dinner to Sunday! Of all things!! He had already bought most of the food and had the meat halfway done, so there was no backing out. But it was really annoying. It's tough when you're doing things for family and when you're wanting to drum up business. Feels like you have to bend over backwards for everyone. It was a big job- 140 people (not his biggest obviously, but still big)- they ordered pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw, mashed potatoes, and beans. It was tricky figuring out when to do things and he did spend all of Sunday morning getting things ready. I loved that he was trying not to let it take away from what he would have been doing- he still came up to bathe Molly and Jack even though I was the one who put them in the tub. He really didn't want this imposing on our Sunday and I really didn't feel like it did. He was able to come all of Sacrament meeting with us which was nice because I was singing in the choir- so I actually got to do that- but he did have to leave before the last hour to get things loaded and delivered by 4:30. Nate worked his butt off!! It was a lot of work! I wish he would let me do more, but he doesn't, so I just stand buy kind of cheering him on! I did dump beans into the cooker :) and pour bbq sauce into the bottles... big helper right!? I was really proud of him though! He did so awesome! It was a lot of work and took a lot of planning- he's really getting good at this and really making a name for himself. I was really proud of him. Hope they appreciated all his hard work!! 9-16-18
THE PROPHETS HAVE TAUGHT US TO SERVE
My sharing time this week was a little bit of a disappointment. Actually, in Junior Primary it was okay. I think it went well. And this lesson was aimed at them, so it should have, but in Senior Primary... It wasn't my best! I'm getting so frustrated lately with these. I feel like I can't win. Things got really rowdy and nobody was listening. I get the look from Barbara and Natalie and then when Shalane starts singing time she has to have a reverent song to calm everyone down... I kind of hate it. I wish I could just sneak out at that point. I wish I knew how to do this calling. I feel like I'm falling short in every area. I know I don't need to be perfect. I know that Heavenly Father called me to do this because he knew I could, but I really wish I was gaining experience enough to improve soon. It's so frustrating. But anyway. All of my costumes for the prophets were perfect :). And that was fun. 9-16-18
FIRST POTTY-TRAINED SUNDAY
So Molly's first Sunday as a potty-trained human almost went on without a hitch! I had gotten the good news that she'd done really well about 10 minutes before church was out because her teacher and I were both in the hall, but of course, those 10 minutes proved to be detrimental! She had told her teacher she needed to go potty, they let her in the bathroom- I am pretty sure she didn't have help getting her panties down, which I don't think they should have to do, but I had advised Nate to let them know that they could come get me to help her, but I'm not sure if the message didn't get relayed properly or what. So she basically peed on the floor a little as she was trying to get on the potty, then sat down with her dress in the toilet. Not super successful. I felt bad Gretchen had to clean it all up. She was really nice about it all and now we know that we need to work on getting Molly to pull down her own panties this week! That will be our goal. But other than that... she did great :). 9-16-18
PIZZA THING
Brad, out of nowhere, volunteered to make dinner for everyone today. Came out of the kitchen with the biscuit dough, announced that he learned how to make a pizza thing with it and asked if he could make that for dinner! I was so happy!!! He had to improvise a little since we didn't have pepperoni, but he used the bacon crumbles so that was awesome! And the kids all loved it!! I was so proud of him!! Yay for FACS!! (his cooking class :) ) 9-16-18
NATE HOME
So with Nate home all week, my schedule felt a lot lighter! We divided and conquered on a lot of things. It was nice to not have to take Molly with me when I went to read with Erika's class. We were able to go car shopping with Becky together! That was nice. When Nate's there, things are just better. So Tuesday, we drove down and took Becky car shopping again. We went to one dealership, test drove one car, and she was sold! We hurried up to Grandma Ruthie's and got her to go to lunch with all of us at Denny's (Becky's choice :) ), and then we raced the clock to get back to the Elementary school to pick up Jack. Unfortunately we were like 20 minutes late! Not cool. And my phone was dead so I couldn't let the school know. Such a bummer. But anyway. It was a good productive day. The kids got to have their first Race Cats practice. I was so glad that they liked it and were having so much fun with it! 9-18-18
MOLLY'S NEW BED!
BECKY GOT A CAR!!
We were all very excited for Becky to finally find a car that was perfect for her. Didn't fit any of the requirements she originally wanted, but who cares :) it's what she wants now :). It was nice to get that taken care of. We grabbed Ruth to come with her to test it out one last time. Then when we were taking Ruth home we stopped at Colver's for some lunch. It was a nice two days spent with two wonderful ladies. I enjoy Ruth and Becky's company. So lucky to have them for family. 9-19-18
CAMP WRAP-UP
The Young Women had camp wrap up on Wednesday. I was trying not to want to go because every time I do something with the Young Women, I have to talk myself off that ledge again for a couple weeks. It's so hard to not get to be a real part of it. Even doing the food at girls camp and being able to go to a couple things just hasn't been the same as it would if I was actually in there. So it's almost worse. But I did enjoy camp wrap up once I finally went. I wish I hadn't been so grumpy to my family all afternoon/evening leading up to it. We went around the circle saying what our favorite part of girls camp was, then watched the camp video, then played a little game and had a few minutes of prizes from Shelly, which unfortunately was not near as funny as it was at 1:00 in the morning. It was hard to know that I don't belong, but other than that- I love the spirit of the Young Women and just can't seem to get enough of it. Someday I hope I can be back in there. Maybe I'll do a better job this time? 9-19-18
CAR SHOPPING
So all the while Becky was looking at cars and we were driving back and forth, we decided to look at a few as well. We were sticking with our price range and being really strict about what we wanted. And on Wednesday, before getting Molly's bed, we found a cute little white susuki that we really kind of liked. There wasn't a whole lot wrong with it! We told the dealer we needed to think about it but we were pretty sure we were going to get it. Unfortunately, the way the rest of our week was- we didn't have time to go back down there until Friday night. Nate had been negotiating price with him all week and had talked the guy down considerably, so Friday afternoon, he called the guy to confirm that the car was still there and still available. The guy said it was, so we loaded up all the kids (minus Charity) and headed down to Salt Lake with the intent to buy that car and then get some dinner. Well, wouldn't you know (this is the SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED AT THAT DEALERSHIP) when we got there, the car had "been sold this afternoon"!!! MORONS!!! It is very irritating to drive 45 minutes to buy a car only to have it not be there. So we were thoroughly irritated. This got our wheels turning and made us rethink the whole car thing. We've since come to the conclusion that we are not going to buy a junker after all. With Charity not really loving driving, there's not a whole lot of places she wants to go. So for me to just drive her is not really a big enough deal. She was slightly bummed when we gave her the news, but I honestly think that this could end up being a good thing. When she is ready (or desperate enough) she will find the urge or courage maybe? to drive more and then hopefully want to buy her own car. It's not how we originally wanted things to go, but don't things happen for a reason? Our "eternal clunker for the teen drivers" idea just didn't last as long as we had hoped. So anyway. 9-21-18
FIELD TRIP WITH ERIKA
I got a call from Mrs. Masterson at about 9:30 on Thursday asking if I was still planning on going to the field trip that day at 11:45. Well, I hadn't been planning on it since she never confirmed whether I was or not :), but I wasn't busy, Nate was home, so of course I went! I did have to cancel a lunch with Emily that I didn't really know we had planned, and that was a bummer, but other than that, I had a great time with Erika! We went up to Syracuse High School for an assembly put on by some of the professors from the Physics department of Weber State. It was called "Forces at Play". They were trying to combine physics with dance and play time to make it sound really exciting I think. It was interesting. And a little strange. But overall pretty cool. I loved the ball/pendulum thing. Erika was so nice to me and made me feel like a queen with all her loves and needing to be right next to me the whole time. It was cute. I did have to sit away from her on the bus and ended up sitting next to Becky (my cousin Becky), which was really fun, but other than that... Erika is a fun field tripper. 9-20-18
LAST FARMER'S MARKET
Well, we did it! We finished off the whole market season on Thursday! Pretty exciting and almost a little sad at the same time. I can't say I'm not going to enjoy having Thursdays back, but it was kind of a fun thing for our family. The time spent under our little tent together, talking and screen-less, were priceless. We had a good turn out that last week. Even Aunt Jen came! Nate had wanted to thank everyone for a good season by making Smoked Salmon. He came up with a really cute way to present it. He had poppers and drumsticks along with the pulled pork, so it was a busy evening. I'm really glad Nate braved this and gave us the opportunity to do something different. He is the one who had to work and sweat to make this happen. I think it was worth it for the most part. 9-20-18
FUN RUN 2018
TEETH CLEANING
I did it! I finally went and got my teeth cleaned. I know this sounds horrible to most people- it's been almost three years since my last cleaning- but I'm announcing it anyway. Dr. Christensen has made it so that I can go to the Dentist again! He takes such good care of me and is helping me so much with my nervousness. It's been really nice. I am not excited about all the work I have to have done here in the near future, but I'm committed!! I'm going to do it! I need to do it! And I'm grateful I don't have to feel bad about it anymore. Thanks to Dave. And Nate- he's been a huge source of strength through it all. My teeth felt amazing after having them cleaned! Every six months won't be soon enough to feel that again. 9-21-18
IHOP
After getting stood up by the car dealer- we hopped on over to IHOP for dinner- kids' choice :)- of course. As we were walking into the restaurant this couple told us that it was really cold inside. We didn't really believe them, so we went in. The entrance/waiting area wasn't cold, so we figured we were good to go, but when we got to our table it was like full on blowing on the area! Freezing cold air! We sat there the entire meal freezing our little patooties off! Molly hated it! She was so whiny! And I complained to the waitress who told us that something was broken. But seriously, it was SO COLD! Everyone did pretty good with it- minus Molly. But she and Erika would run over to the waiting area and play for a few minutes to warm up. Come to find out AT THE END OF THE MEAL, that the other half of the restaurant was HOT! UGH!! I would have much rather sat in the hot side! But they did end up giving us our kids' meals free, so maybe it was worth it :). 9-21-18
SOCCER
Erika had another amazing game this Saturday! She plays with everything she's got! It's so much fun to watch her. I wish the other kids cared as much as she does, and I wish she had girls she could pass to when she gets it down to the goal, but she was awesome! Tried for a few goals, didn't make it but then stopped the other team at two goals when she was put in as goalie for the last half of the game! She was awesome, we loved watching her. 9-22-18
CHILI COOK OFF
The ward chili cook off was a lot of fun. The kids loved it. It was over at Ponds Park this time which was nice. The kids all just played. It's always a bummer that Nate isn't there for that activity for two reasons- he's not there for me to talk with and mingle with, AND he's not there to help with Molly. She was a pill for most of the time. I was able to talk with Emily for a little while, as we chased Molly and Jonah around. So that was nice. I brought my Zuppa Toscana Keto style because I wanted to have something I could eat there, hoping people would be turned off by the fact that it's not chili, but it was all gone when I went back for seconds! So sad. Oh well. I hope everyone enjoyed all the FAT that was in it! All that "horrible fat" that they all can't seem to wrap their heads around. Just kidding. It's all good! I did take a bowl up to Barbara Farnes to try- she didn't come to the activity. Then I made the kids hurry home to get ready for bed! We were headed up to Idaho in the morning. 9-22-18
