The morning started out normal. Nate had put up the streamers and balloons the night before and they had all fallen down by the time we woke up :). Which is normal, but it was worse this time because we had used electrical because we were all out of the other stuff. Anyway, the kids all wanted to sing to Noah and make him feel special and that's always real fun for me. The girls went to school and then I got ready to go visit my old friend Erin in Sandy. I had planned the visit without making the connection that it was Noah's birthday and normally I would cancel because I like to clear out the whole day just for THEIR day, but I figured he'd be napping then anywya, so I went. (and had a really great time too, by the way, thank you Erin!! I hope you made it home safely, thanks for making time to see me, it was fun to catch up) When I got home (to my clean house- thank you Nate) I learned that Noah had thrown up. It was a little surprising, but not since Charity had been sick on Saturday. I was bummed though. I hate the thought of being sick on your birthday. Seems to happen a lot around here though. Anyway, so I laid down on the couch because I had been feeling kinda yucky myself and took a nap. We kept trying to decide if we should still do his party tonight or not. We knew that it wouldn't be until THursday taht we would be able to have it and the chance of that happening was slim (we're just like that) so we decided to call the guests and let them know what was going on, but still have the party. Of course after we talked to everyone Kelly got sick too. Most of our guests opted out of the germ sharing party, but luckily (for us, and hopefully for them) Brent, Sarah and CHARLIE, and Chris, Stephanie and Sophie, and Steve, made it here to celebrate with us. During the party Luke also got sick and Kelly continued to be. Noah was pretty much fine, eating frosting and cake and cookies. It was really a strange evening. Nate and I kind of tag teamed it a little bit with the vomitting, entertaining, feeding Erika, and dishing up cake and ice cream. It was all just a little bit strange. Noah blew out the candles on his frog cake though, and opened his two presents from us, and all was well. It was overall an okay birthday for a two year old. I'm really sure he wouldn't have noticed if it had been better :).... just strange for all the rest of us.
the kids all decorated his sign the night before. Normally I like to do this myself so it can look nice, but it was more fun for them to do it I think.
and I just LOVED some of the things I saw written on the sign.... Charity added his "E-yo" and I love the "you are such a cute brother! Love Charity" part. Kelly drew "n"s all over it. It was very fun.
We all decided on the frog cake for Noah- he wouldn't pick one himself- because he can say froggy when he reads the frog and toad book, and he also has this little beany baby frog that he has been buddies with lately.... we thought it was fitting (and an easy cake to do). I was going to try my hand at the real decorating this time, but since I had put it off I didn't have enough time. Not to mention I had run out of powdered sugar and ended up just grinding up some regular sugar in Steve's magic bullet, so the frosting was really grainy, and not as bright as I had wanted it to be (I made it brighter in the picture :)). Anyway, it was overall a very low budget cake :).... he's two though, so it really doesn't matter.
He was shshing us when we were singing Happy Birthday to him :) I think the cha-cha-cha's got a little loud for him..... but this is a classic shot of Noah.
I caught him almost smiling :) That made me happy. (you can see how dull the coloring of his frog cake was in this picture.... lame.)
and of course Erika shmoozing with her Aunt Sarah.... she loves her Aunt Sarah.
He likes to open his presents himself. This can be difficult with 4 little older siblings.
Since he helped pick out his present we were sure he liked them :) I'm actually thinking that's the way to go because he was more excited to open them knowing what fun things were inside :)....
we were glad for all our guests that came :) It's always fun to have family and friends there to celebrate with us.
Since the party ended we've had nothing but vomitting. Charity started back up. Nate is cleaning up more throw up as we speak. Not fun. Lucky for us this doesn't happen real often. Hopefully it doesn't last too long.... Everyone but Nate and Brad have felt it, and I have yet to throw up..... we'll see.

Ugh! I'm so sorry about the puking! You are so good at doing the parties! I am such a party pooper! Speaking of which I'm sorry I missed Erika's blessing! It was just too much that day, sorry :0( She looked absolutely angelic in her dress! I'm so glad I still got to at least get to read the post about it. Hope you are all feeling better soon!
