MRI FOR BECKY
Molly and I got to take Becky to get her MRI on Monday. Traffic was insane, so we got there way later than planned, but luckily we'd given ourselves more time than needed to get there. It was pretty uneventful. Molly struggled just a little bit in the waiting room, but then ended up coloring for a majority of the time which was new for her, she doesn't usually stay focused on that for so long. Hopefully Becky can get some answers from this and can move forward somehow with her problems. We loved being able to spend time with her. Molly was happy to see Light again. She loved reminiscing about petting him :). 4-30-18
FHE
Charity gave the lesson on the Jaredites. I love her love for that part of the Book of Mormon. We played Reverse Charades for Kelly's activity and had Root Beer Floats for Bradley's treat. It was a great evening with EVERYONE home! That was a nice return to how it should be. This month is so full. 4-30-18
PRODUCE
Something kind of interesting happened this week with produce. It's a long story that I'm not in the mood to type up, but bottom line, someone who meant to opt out but didn't, (and it was because her mom died and she was busy with funeral stuff that she was going to opt out) didn't have to buy a basket because someone else who HAD opted out, had her daughter pick one up anyway! Kinda funny. Interesting how the Lord works. 5-1-18
"THE STARS SHINE BRIGHTER ON THE KAYSVILLE KNIGHTS"
Bradley has been working himself silly for the past week or so putting together a portfolio for applying to be an Appointed SBO. This was a big deal to him and he really did put so much thought and work into it. He went in for his interview on Tuesday and did such a great job! I could hear the teachers laughing and just loving him the whole time. It was really cool. I was so proud of him and so impressed by his initiative and desire to do that all on his own. Unfortunately, he found out on Friday that he was not chosen. Bummed us all out. But really, he should be proud of himself, he did a great job, had some great ideas, and really stepped out of his comfort zone. 5-1-18
TRACK MEET TAKE THREE--- still looking forward to when we know what's going on.
This track meet was not any better than the other two. We got there about five minutes after the hurdles were supposed to start and of course missed Brad running the hurdles. Eye roll. That was annoying and we weren't about to stick around for three hours to see if he was going to end up doing the discus as an alternate. We told him to call us when he was about up and hopefully we could come. The evening took a turn for the worse though and we were not able to make it out there again. I have officially only seen him do ONE AND A HALF STINKIN' EVENTS this WHOLE season!!! UGH. I'm annoyed in case you can't tell. He did great on both, got 24.10 on the hurdles and about 60 feet on the discus. Pretty cool that he can do this stuff- I'm still super proud of him even if I haven't really been able to bask in his glory. 5-3-18
NOAH'S STITCHES
Thursday was another full day with lots of different sports stuff and running around. We were all set for it though and ready to take on the evening. I don't think we were prepared for how it was really going to go though. Steve showed up as we were starting dinner, had dinner with us and then he, Noah and I headed out to get Noah to his game and then to the store for a team treat. Well, while we were at the store I got a phone call from Travis Clemens. He calmly explained that Noah had been hit in the face with a ball and was cut and bleeding a lot and that I should probably see it. I quickly checked out- I had already been in line for all you judgers out there, I didn't take extra time- Steve grabbed a bag of ice from the deli too which was awesome of him. So we raced back to see the damages. I honestly didn't think it was going to be a big deal. We've had such good luck lately, it didn't even occur to me that it would look so bad. Well, sure enough, Noah was laying on someone's blanket on the ground and getting first aid care from several people. I sucked up my need to be in charge and let everyone tell me what was wrong, what happened, and what to do. I took one look at his cut under his eye and knew it needed stitches. It was not pretty. Noah was so tough. We went to the Urgent Care and had it all taken care of. The doc there (who happened to look like Kevin Bacon) was super nice and very talkative with Steve (who isn't? well, besides the guy at the front desk there...) put seven stitches in my little boys' face while talking about how he screwed up on a circumcision a long time ago. Not the best topic of conversation during that... just sayin. THEN the worst part of all, Dr. Bacon decided that it would be better to be safe than sorry and Noah should get a tetanus shot. This was not okay with Noah, he was not going to have it, he fought us very valiantly until finally conceding and tried to quickly relax so that it wouldn't hurt as much... as good as he could with all of us holding him down. That was definitely the worst part about the whole ordeal. But he survived. We took him home and got him comfy on the couch to watch some Princess Bride. He was planning his conversations with friends and classmates the next day what he was going to say to all the inquiries about his eye. He does have a pretty hideous bruise right under his eye that of course looks worse than the bandaid covering the stitches. Hopefully that dies down a little. Poor guy! Later that night the awesome Clemens clan brought him some well wishes and a bowl of frozen yogurt! How thoughtful!! I think the thing I want to remember most was that when Noah's team did their huddle right before starting the game, they all called out "NOAH!" when they broke the huddle as their cheer. So cool! How cute is that!! I just love that he had that. 5-3-18
ERIKA'S GAME
So while Noah was getting stitched up, Erika was getting three people out and scoring her little heart out in her softball game. I am so sad I missed yet another game of hers! I know she played well though. Such a cool girl. 5-3-18
PROM STUFF
So Prom is a pretty big deal. And super expensive. We did so good though! I was actually totally proud of how much we DIDN'T spend and still kept it cool. Charity's dress was an amazing deal and super easy to get our hands on! And beautiful I might add! She looks amazing in it! We only needed to hem the bottom which Dolores Furniss did for me and fixed Nate's suit pants for me too! Kelly and I drove around all creation looking for the flower for the boutonierre which ended up being a lot harder than I thought. And I learned that if I am only making one boutonierre, it is not cheaper than buying one. Nobody sells just one flower. So I don't know if I will really do the whole diy on the boutonierre thing again. We'll see. It didn't turn out too bad though- I was actually kind of proud of it. We were all ready! 5-4-18
CHARITY'S FIRST DATE
Charity's "day date" was Friday. She was not entirely looking forward to it. They had planned a hiking trip up Adam's canyon. She had never made it to the top of that hike, so she was nervous. This was her first date thought and so fun for all of us to witness :). She had a great time and surprised herself with how well she did. Cool stuff. Can't believe she's dating! 5-4-18
KNIGHT TREK
Bradley ran in the school's 5K this morning! He's so cool! So motivated to participate in things! He really would make a great SBO. He wants to be involved. I love that. So Nate took him, then we all ran outside to cheer him on as he ran past our house, then Nate picked him up :). He said he got 28 minutes and 10 seconds. Pretty awesome! He didn't even seem all that tired. Must be all that running he's doing everyday with Track. So cool! 5-5-18
THE TEMPLE!
Nate and I finally made it to the temple! It was temple week and this was THE ONLY time we could squeeze it in. And we were pushing it, trying to get into an endowment session, but missed and needed to do something quicker. Which was okay because I absolutely love doing sealings. It's one of my favorite things to do. I got to sit there holding Nate's hand the entire time. It was nice. Thanks to Kelly for babysitting. 5-5-18
ADULT SESSION
So Nate took the day off so that he could go to the adult session of Stake conference with me. I was so happy! It was such a great meeting! I loved all the talks. I loved the feel of the meeting and the main topic of Ministering. It was such a great reminder. I had so many thoughts and impressions while I was there and a lot of motivation to do better. I really feel like I need to step it up. Kind of like how I felt during conference. Especially if I am looking for personal revelation like I am. I need to be more pure, follow the commandments with exact obedience, and study the Book of Mormon better. I know that Heavenly Father forgives me of my weaknesses though and that one day they will be made strengths. 5-5-18
